Brand new La Muse. I bought it because I've started to play again after quite a few years break. It's a hollow body "Les Paul" kind of thing; a nice concept...so I thought.

Never got to find out.

Well, here we go.
The bright spangly finish was excellent, if you like that sort of thing. Maybe it's a bit cheesy in some ways, like "if glossy is good we'll apply 150 coats of it"; underneath it could be made of balsa wood and chewing gum, you'd never know. Still, overall it seemed OK for the price.
Now to the rub. I gave the guitar a bash in the shop, and quite liked it. When I got it home and sat back and looked I saw the bridge was so way off; I must have had the "I want it now" goggles on in the shop. I mean the low E was about to fall off the neck.
It's gone back.

Not relevant as it was in my posession for only a day or so.

Err, lets say it's a month after took it back to the shop and I'm still without a La Muse.
I can't say whether the shop owner (I won't name in case he is an innocent party) is just giving me pure unadulterated B.S. but when I complained to Peerless UK the response was slow...and curt. I mean 3 or 4 words.
In other words the kind of customer service you get at Fawlty Towers.
I think it's becoming more common nowadays, from Far Eastern suppliers, that the first few samples are crafted to perfection but the production models are made by unskilled slaves.
Overall Rating

my overall rating is minus infinity so far. I wish I'd bought something else but for some reason I still wonder if I can get a working one, because it's unusual, especially looking. But really the quality control appears to be poor, and the UK distibutor has matched that with customer service which just stinks.
Maybe I will just get my money back and buy something else. Peerless guitars aren't cheap, and with a few more quid I can buy something made in the UK, or even the US.
In my humble opinion they are shipping out shed loads of guitars, and they really just don't care whether they are made properly (let the customer do the QA attitude) as long as they look nice and shiny in the shop...if you aren't happy then take your money back and go away; it makes no difference to our bottom line.
