My favorite guitar to play. nice glossy finish solid spruce top dreadnaught style 70's copy of a martin d 41 or 45. bound neck, abalone inlay everywhere, good tuners.Rings like a bell ,super action. Brazilian rosewood back and sides, looks like brazilian on the fretboard as well.Made in Japan around 1974 by the Hoshino(Ibanez)factory imported by the pensylvania music co. in Philly

Sound : 10
I play blues jazz and bluegrass. This is my bluegrass mower!Great for pickin' very fast. This axe sustains extremely well with open strings or played up the neck the notes hold for ever. Deep bass with great volume mid-range and high end very clear and loud as well.
Low action is a plus when bar chords are needed up the neck no buzz anywhere

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
whoever set this up did a fine job I just changed the strings when I got it and it is perfect, I tried a high end Taylor the other day and this penco blew it away for thousands less I might ad! Finish is in great shape for a 30 year old git box a few dings but no cracks or checking

Reliability/Durability : 10
I could gig with this piece no problem but in the kind of places I've been playing latley I bring an old beater(Epiphone) with me instead I don't want anything to happen to this baby!

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 40 years
Have a couple of other pencos , a clasical and a 12 string, Gibson 335 a nice old Mossman ,an Epiphone ,a no name arch top a self made banjo, mandolin, violin a Hummingbird and a few exoctic stringed instruments I have piccked up in my travels
I would love to find another one but they are kinda rare
The sound and the playability are my favorite things about this axe
If you get a chance to buy a Penco, any Penco buy it! Even if it is in bad shape, fix it up and you'll be glad you did
