My guitar was made 4/02. Koa back and sides, Solid Spruce top, Indian Rosewood Binding, Mahogany Neck. Martin Thinline under the saddle no controls on the guitar. A high gloss finish on top of some of the nicest Koa wood you ever seen , not the AAA flame but the golden with dark strips kind that really looks great. The top is very nice and tight grained. The fret board is dark and solid from end to end, I did not want any fretboard makers on it and it looks really sharp. It is a cutaway about the size of Taylor's Grand Auditorium. The Brige is a solid ebony piece with handmade pins. It came with Schaller tuners and a 1 3/4 neck. A custom case with the Pimentel Logo was loaded with Fret Dressing, Carnuba Wax.

I play fingerstyle and pick a few too. The guitar is loud for a Koa and it gets real sweet when laying down bluegrass or jazzgrass ect.
On the fingerstyle side the harmonics ring true and long. Sweet mids..clear trebles and pronouced bass. It accepts every tuning I can muster and it stays in perfect pitch. I sold my Taylor to order this one and I am sure glad I did..this blows away everything at Guitar Center and Mars Music combined. The finish, the artwork and most important the tone. Worth the wait and $$$

My Koa was built by Rick Pimentel and he did the set-up. I wanted a medium string height with medium strings it arrived perfect. The artwork is stunning Rick designed the scheme and colors for me. I had a rossette made of turquoise. A Kokopeli was engraved on the headstock using MOP, tuquoise and some other colors. The side Koa was cut at an angel so that when it met at the neck or tail it was at a bookmatched angle, very stunning. The guitar overall is flawless. The neck is way ahead of the competition, one piece with a smooth finish. Rick suggested a blue accent aroung the headstock and aroung the front binding of the indian rosewwod. The blue accent brings it all together that when people see it all they can say is WOW and then when they hear it they turn into psyco-acoustic listeners.

This will not be my last Pimentel Guitar. I will play this one out and wow them with it. It is built solid. Check Pimentel Guitars out in Acoustic Guitar Magazine 10/01 Issue. they use a double xx bracing a neck block for durability. This thing will be a family hand me down.

I stopped last summer at the Factory and took a tour. Rick and his brothers and father all work there. This is a small guitar shop where art and handmade craft go together. Rick always answered my e-mails and always stopped what he was doing to talk on the phone when needed.
The Pimentel's have been in business for over 50 years they must being doing something right. Rick is a man of his word and a super nice guy to boot!

Been playing for 30 years. I have some nice electrics, a reso..ect.
This is the finest acoustic I have ever owned. Including Taylors, Martins, Gibsons...ect.. It covers all my styles and has enough overtones to die for. New riffs jump off your fingers. If you want a solid guitar made in the USA that is a different tone machine with some real art and thought put into it, buy a Pimentel. If you want the same thing everyone else has go buy a Taylor, Martin or Gibson./..ect!
