An old economy guitar built in the seventies. Similar to a LP but different.. It has a flatter top instead of the bulging LP style. And open pickups, two black humbuckers. It has a transparent vermillion finish which is a pleasant surprise. The Stop tailpeice is shiny chrome. In fact all the hardware looks really classy. The 22 fret neck is finished with a thick polyurethane coating that blows. I got it used so nothing was included except for a thin tweed strap. I like the hardware look and feel but the neck feels like a hunk of plastic, and the cool finish showcases poor quality wood.
Sound
:

This guitar has the muffled sound and significant buzz commonly associated with entry-level models. I use it to play rythm parts as a backup to my chuffin (awesome) G&L Invader Plus. It's not hot enough to do leads. This guitar would suck for blues but the heavy sound makes it good for metal. I give it an "8" as a comparison to other sub-$300 axes, and this one rules.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action was good and low, but there was some buzz on the first string, 3rd fret. The nut and bridge had been gouged out by heavy playing, so I replaced them. The finish was a cool yellow to vermillion burst that looks like fire. But the wood was peiced together and the grain was ugly. I plan to get a solid finish soon.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is built on the Les Paul basic design so it is solid. But it is a lot lighter because it isn't 3 inches thick! The hardware is pretty but it's a little flimsy. Finish is not as durable as, say, a Fender but It's acceptable. Big surprise- the previous owner had put straplocks on the thing. I use it as a backup but it is good for rythm. If i had to use it i would bring a backup due to aforementioned hardware quality.

I have been playing for 13 years I also have a G&L Invader Plus, and an Epiphone Casino. The Invader is cool for harder stuff and the Epi is cool for bluesy stuff. This is my backup guitar. If it were stolen i would be mad because it serves its purpouse well, but soon I would break down and buy say a Epi LP studio. I like this axe's thumping rythm sounds but it is unsuitable for leads. If i had one wish I would give her a hotter bridge pickup. Great guitar, if you can find one buy one.
