Red metalic finish on body and neck. Straight forward strat with a wedge style headstock. Vintage trem. Crap tuners that hold tune very well?? Medium jumbo frets. 3 awesome single coil pickups. Just from the way this thing sounds and feels I want to believe it is made of mahogony but unless I remove some paint or drill into it I may never know.

This is the old style Premier Strat. Not the newer ones sold today. The body and neck are painted a solid color. I've seen them in black and metalic red. First impression was that the body is quite thin more like a Squier Bullet than a standard Fender. But, it has a suprisingly solid overall feel and is also quite heavy. For an old guitar the electronics on both examples are in great shape. No scratch in the pots. 5-way switch is very smooth and quiet. The neck with its rosewood fretboard is on the thick side and frets are a bit sharp on the ends. Nothing a little file work didn't fix. Pickguard has a black matte finish and is mounted a little at an angle. Fender aftermarket guards do not fit these guitars unfortunately. My favorite part of these guitars(and the biggest suprise)is the pickups! The are super clear and chimey. Tone control works good. Both clean and distorted tones are very usable.

As mentioned above the fret ends were sharp and needed attention. Overall fret leveling is very good on the red guitar and slightly worse on the black one. The pickguard is slightly misaligned. The tremolo is standard 6-screw vintage but has a folded steel "block". Not even a block really. Which makes the great tones this thing puts out even more amazing. Overall feel while playing is very good.

Probably the weakest link is the tuners. If I was gigging with this guitar it would get Grovers. Personally I wouldn't gig with any guitar without backup. Murphy's Law. This is not a new guitar and it is very solid after all these years.

Haven't met too many guitars I didn't like at least a little. I own much better guitars than this but as an informal strummer it's definately worth the money spent. Love the way it sounds and the big neck. Wish it had better tuners.

dont know date of manufacture.purchased in may 2005.there are no markings other than the logo on the headstock.no location,no date,no serial number.it's a standard strat copy with all the strat features. three single coils maple neck with rosewood fingerboard(even has the skunk stripe down the back of the neck).nice wood grain in the body and a very attractive trans red finish.white three ply pickguard and white trem cover. the tuners were generic junk and it has med frets. came with a gig bag

i have a semi-hollow and bought this to have a single-coil sound available.i play blues and rock.this guitar does exactly what i wanted it to. i think it sounds great! i did have it set up at a shop and adjusting the pickup height really gave a greater range of tone between pickups.there is none of the noise from the pickups that strats are known to have.

the factory setup was playable,in fact i didn't have it setup professionally for almost a year. as i mentioned above the pickup height adjustment really helped. the fit was very nice all-around,especially the neck. the freel of the neck is what sold me on this guitar.VERY NICE FRETS.the fret ends are completely smooth all down both sides of the neck.most squires i've seen have frets exposed on the ends. nice smooth full oval neck.

i don't gig so i won't go there but it seems very solid after a years use. the hardware seems solid as well although i installed a set of grover mini cam locking tuners a month after i bought it.factory tuners were JUNK. by the way these tuners are awesome!align the holes, run the string thru, pull snug and wind!no turns around the post,no guessing string length, and they tune within a half turn...very nice!!!

A cheap strat copy, plain and simple.

Clean strat sound, but pick-ups seem uneven compared to other strats. No matter how I adjust the height, the 2nd position just doesn't quite get the "honk" and treble of the first pickup. So I tend to just use the first PU.

Little ol' nine gauge strings, replaced w/ tens. Not bad action (I like it little high). The input jack was loose, and gets loose ALOT, just like alot of "real" strats. Great natural finish for a 99 dollar guitar. The headstock retainers snag the strings...so it takes some time and skill to tune so it stays in tune. I highly don't recommend using the vibrato...its gotta be tightened down.

It has stood up through about 3 or 4 gigs now. Other than the input jack, everything seems sturdy.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS FIRST IMPRESSIONS AS I ONLY BOUGHT THIS GUITAR SEVERAL HOURS AGO. A FULLER REVIEW IS ON THE WAY.
Basic standard str@t configuration, absolutely nothing unusual or interesting. 3-piece solid wood body (unknown type of wood, but a fair amount of grain; looks somewhat like mahogany but is probably alder) in natural finish with 3-ply white pickguard, rosewood fingerboard on satin finish maple neck, generic "sealed" tuners (reason for quotations below), plastic nut. Guitar is reasonably heavy but not as much as my ash-bodied Lotus str@t. The neck is very slim and comfortable, with one of those modern-style flatter fingerboard radii. Reminds me most of a Squier Standard Stratocaster.

Seems bright and bell-like enough on first listen, but it will take a bit to see how she stands up to my Lotus. Not particularly noisy; about what you'd expect from a strat. One thing I like is that, unlike the Lotus with it's pseudo-staggered pole pieces, this one has nice even response across all strings. However, I do notice that the pickups feed back at high gain settings. Hell, I'll probably swap 'em out for Duncans or Kent Armstrongs anyway.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Body is beautiful in natural finish, neck seated nice and tight. No real flaws to speak of as far as that goes. Now for the flaws:
The action was set too high, as usual, and the strings were el cheapo rubber bands, as usual, probably 009s--right off the bat I changed them out for a set of my beloved Darco 011s. The trem bridge is quite stiff; I will definitely need to adjust that.
Finally, the tuners are definitely not top drawer. Even though they are classy looking sealed units instead of the notorious "chrome covered" ones, these hardly deserve the "sealed" designation--there were yellow grease stains around the backsides on more than one sample. Worse, they were wiggly and wouldn't stay in tune for shit until I restrung it and screwed down the knobs and front nuts tight. It's a frickin' $100 guitar, though, and it's not like you can't just tighten the things down if they need it. But a set of Grovers would be much better.
One nice touch, however: when I pulled off the volume and tone knobs to get the pickguard plastic off, I noticed that the pots all utilized those little locking tabs--a little hole next to the pot shaft for the tab on the pot to fit into and thereby lock the pot in place. I've never seen that on *any* guitar, anywhere; as one who's had to put up with loose pots for ages, I'm impressed, especially on such a cheap instrument.

No idea yet; it's brand new. Let's be honest, just holding it you can tell it's not a Fender, but on first glance I don't see any glaring signs of shoddy parts. The nut is one of those plastic ones, though, and when I restrung it I noticed little tiny plastic shavings behind the string slots. Eventually I will probably get a graphite nut anyway. We shall see.

Premier is obviously one of those rather arbitrary type brand names affixed to anonymously manufactured inexpensive instruments that litter music stores everywhere, so good luck even trying to find the distributor or manufacturer, much less their customer service department. Oh, fer chrissakes, who needs customer service anyway? It's a $99 guitar. I'll fix it myself if it goes kaplooey, and if I have the urge to hassle somebody, I'll just grab the nearest clerk at Music Go Round, cuz that's where the paper trail ends as far as I can tell.

My latest adventure in Cheapguitarland. I bought it because 1) I need a backup for live playing, because I've had one or two too many strings snap onstage; 2) it was cheap; 3) it looked very nice; 4) it sounded pretty cool and the neck felt nice; 5) str@t copies with unfamiliar names are just intriguing any day.
There will be more to tell. I've only just gotten the thing, as I've said.
And now the usual biocrappical sludge: 30 years old, playing for 20, mostly rock-oriented but my net is cast wide for influences--mainly into older styles. Own several guitars. Also play keyboards, with emphasis on vintage organs and synthesizers. Too much to tell in so little space. I am in two bands:

This thing is built like a tank. I don't even think Kurt Cobain could break this motherfucker. I can't tell you how many times its gotten dropped without so much as a scratch. The only problem is that the input jack is fucked and it needs a new one. If it had some good pickups and a nicer neck i'd keep this thing as my main axe. But unless you feel like doing that, i would advise you not to touch one.

This thing is definately a Piece of shit. However it was my first guitar and i didn't know any better. I'm going to probably end up putting some new pickups on it, and maybe a Fender neck. But that already costs more than i paid for it, but i don't care. "Frankenstein" will always be my first guitar and i love it. Even if it is a piece of shit.

This guitar sounds like crap!!!!! The pickups and selector buzz alot and the sounds coming through the amp are extremely unclear, especially with the distortion on. I actually play it unplugged alot because the sound is so terrible and I can't bear listening to it. That's pretty sad, playing an electric guitar unplugged alot because of poor sound quality. O well, I play plugged in with my good guitars, a Gibson SG Standard and a Fender American Standard Strat, the Premier just kinda gathers dust.

The action sucked ass after about a few months of playing, the neck warped on me, but I managed to readjust this. The tuning pegs sucked royally, and the damn thing went out of tune every 10 minutes it seemed. Until I received my Fender I spent a few bucks and purchased a set of Schaller tuning keys, installed them, and the problem was corrected, except that the poorly designed tremolo system made the better tuners have a hard time in keeping it in tune, but it stayed better than it had before the Schallers.

I must say that this instrument is built somewhat like a tank, the body is pretty solid, but the truss rod is extremely poor and like I said, it had neck issues. I mainly use this thing to practice at home with, because as I said it sounds like ass and would create quite a bit of embarassment at a gig.

I never dealt with the company because I don't know the contact info. I hear that Premier is one of the top drum makers in the world, but that's drums, not fucking guitars. If they make really good drums, they should stick to that, don't humiliate your reputation by building some piece of crap guitar.

I got this when I was 13, when I was 15 I received a Fender American Standard Stratocaster (which I still have), I worked a number of odd-jobs and bought a Gibson SG Standard when I was 20, and I have an old Epiphone acoustic guitar. I'm 24 now, and am still playing. I hold on to the Premier only because it was my first guitar (period). It pretty much is rotting away in its bag. If someone broke into my apartment and stole my Strat and my SG, I would be fumed. If they stole the Premier, I'd shake their hand, and then they would play it and bring it right back, and know what, I wouldn't blame them one bit in the least.

bought used, front pickup changed and finish changed.
the only reason i bought it was because it was cheap and i didn't have a cheap guitar of my own yet to be less concious of.
5-way switch, s/s/s, two tone pots, a poorly placed volume pot, passive, rosewood neck, bottom-of-the-line parts and electronics.

today, it failed on me.
it has failed very many times.
i've completely rewired the electronics, and it still fails because the sodder that was originally put in is low quality and coated with something that makes it a pain to work with.
the nut also broke before i had a chance to change the strings.
i don't take this guitar to practice without a backup guitar

i'm not hard on my instruments or gear although i'm not anal retentive over them either, but this guitar has given me alot of troubles and if it were my only, it wouldn't be for long
i have enjoyed learning about the guitar after opening it up and poking around. but it's really only worth maybe, and i stress maybe twenty dollars.
if you weant one, ask around i'm sure someone you know has one in their closet somewhere, out of tune, with poor action, rarely used and they are more than willing to just give you it.

22 frets, rosewood fingerboard, sunburst, 3 passive single coils, pretty much your average strat copy. The sunburst finish is pretty cool, and you can get a good strat sound.

This suits my music style fairly well since I play pretty much about everything but country. I play mostle blues and rock. The pickups on this guitar sound really good mildy distorted to clean when using the bridge and neck pickups, or combining them with the middle pickup. The bad part is they lose their tone when you use heavy distortion.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

Since it's a cheap guitar, the pickup selector is noisy. Surprisingly no finish flaws, but I had to adjust the action. It was set way to high. The saddles aren't the best, and one of the tone knobs nneeded resoldering. They work fine now, and this was after two years, but I do take pretty good care of it. They shouldn't have came loose.

I would use it at a gig w/o a backup if I had to. I usually take at least one backup, or have more than one guitar I use. It's very dependable, but the finish on the 2 and 3 frets of the fingerboard wore off after about a year.

Pretty good for a first guitar if you can find one for the right price. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for this guitar, though. Not when you can get a fatboy guitar in kramer's focus series for 90 bucks. They even had the sunburst finish. I would not waste the cash on this if it were lost. I don't think anyone would ever want to steal this pos lol. If you know someone starting guitar, or you want to start playing an electric, get a focus series package at www.musicyo.com. The guitars and packs are under kramer, and you have to guitar packs are towards the bottom of the page. They had the cheapest, best quality beginning guitars that I've seen yet.

only good thing I can say about this is it has taken a beating and keeps on ticking.. they build these things to last.. they want you to keep buying the el cheapos so you dont go out and actually buy the real thing.. I mean I wa sonly a kid who was first getting started.. and i gues sit great for that purpose.. but as I grew and learned about sound and style, and all that good stuff that any other guitarist would know.. I came to realize that this guitar sounds like crap.. I only keep it around for sentimental reasons...

I hate it because it sounds like crap, but keep it around because it was my first full size electric. i diddnt really compare it to other guitars because at the time i diddnt know what I was looking at anyway. I wish it had the address of the compnay that makes this crap on the becak of the headstock... that way I could drive to their home office and beat them all half to death with it
