I've paid this guitar 100$ can. two years ago from a friend of mine! I can't believe how incredible this guitar sounds! I absolutely LOVE it! The 5 sounds selector gives a whole lot of possibility, and the two tons multiply those by 10!

Sound : 10
I play old rock'n'roll, rock and jazz style! I also play a little bit of metal with it, and it sounds very well! Seems like an ALL STYLE guitar, which is a really good thing!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
A pretty nice Vintage Fender, really looks like Hendrix' In incredible quality, there's not even a scratch on it! The paint seems of pretty good quality!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have it for two years now, my friend got it for seven years before me... And it never broke! Now I've got my selectors and connectors that are a little bit noisy, but 100$ and a luthier will have it repaired! Incredibly reliable! Got hit once or twice and there's not even a scratch! Pretty good guitar!

I don't regret this guitar! If ever I buy another one, it will have to be a heck of a guitar for me not to regret... Maybe a Hagstrom 1969 or something... A really good guitar!

I paid $250 (Australian) for this guitar in December 2007. Can't believe the condition of it. It's like over 20 years old and still has the plastic stuck to the backplate, like its sat in someone's bedroom unused for all those yearsThis guitar has a gloss red finish with a white scratch plate and, of course, everything looks just like a strat except the logo. Old style noin locking tuners, 21 frets, three single coil pickups etc. No real featurs to speak of, just a standard strat style guitar so i'll just give it a nominal rating here.

Sound : 10
I've owned cheap strats, Mexicans abnd the like, and this really does leave them for dead. Its a fantastic vintage sounding blues guitar. Can be bright down closer to the bridge pickup and nice and warm as well. Iput it through a Line 6 Spider and couldn't be happier with the variety of sounds i can achieve. I mainly play country and blues and the guitar suits both styles well. For the price I've gotta give this one a 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action wise the guitar plays well. I'm no virtuoso (or I'd prob have a real vintage strat), but playability is excellent. I use 10- 46 strings. The guitar had been sitting in my local music shop for about 5 years -slowly coming down in price- and the intonation was still perfect when i purchased it.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Its a solid instrument and has obviously been well preserved. I haven't dropped it yet so I can say too much about its duribility but, like most things Japanese, it looks like it should be able to handle the knocks

I've been playing for almost 30 years now and have mainly been an acoustic player so I can't compare it to too many other instruments. It is, however, far superior to cheaper Fender strats i've owned and immeasuabley better than any other copy i've ever played or heard. I believe these guitars were made at the Japanese factory that made Fender guitars in the 1980's and I think they've done an excellent job here. For $250.00 i can't imagine i could ave found anything better. Even up to around $1000.00 I'd defy anyone to find a better more vintage sounding strat or copy.

MIJ early 80's i think.

This review is for an early series with 21 fret neck - a friend has told me that the later ones were called Profile Vintage - early ones simply called Profile, with no model name. It appears that the reviews below may be for both types, which is why i have included mine here.

21 frets, standard strat layout, early 60's style but not 100% faithful replica, solid body medium weight unsure of timber used. Maple/ rosewood neck, fairly thin leaning towards Ibanez feel. Tuners with small vintage look heads and more modern looking sealed backs (die cast?). Standard pups sound very sweet, little noise, not too bright.

Recently replaced pups with GFS vintage alnicos which sound so good, more bite/ growl, and noticed that poles appear wider - tech. advises that the bridge is a little narrower than a true vintage bridge - i may swap this later, although it does not seem to limit pup efficacy as far as i can tell.

Purchased used, was modded with rear tone switch doubling as push pull blender pot to activate neck pup as needed.

Finish is fiesta red/ white plate, since changed to pearloid and it looks great. Paintwork is not wonderful, can see some irregularity through the paint, perhaps not enough coats or prep between coats?

Overall, reasonably featured for what was after all a cheap guitar in its day

Sound : 9
I play mainly blues, and some jazz standards, and some other bits and pieces. The Profile does this very well, now extremely well after new pups fitted. I agree with reviewers below who state this is closest thing you'll get to a strat. It nails 'that' sound.

Sound was 'as sweet as' with standard pups. It was bright, but without the harsh brittle edge that my cheapo guitar had. In fact I had already ordered the new pups before i received the guitar, being sure it would need them, and after playing for a while I was worried that i had wasted my money on the new pups as it sounded so good as is. (however, with new pups it has not lost any of its sweet tone, and now has a lovely growl as well, with a bit more bottom).

Wiring mods sounded good, but switch placement was a little illogical. Have since had a tech. change it for me to give vol/ tone neck/ tone bridge, and then pull 2nd tone pot for blend vol bridge, for some very sweet tones with neck + bridge together. Highly recommended mod.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
20 years+ old when I got it.

Paintwork a little sketchy (but its minor, only seen in certain light, i am being a bit picky here), but everything seemed good, tuners very smooth, all switching/ electronics good.

Tech. advises me that the bridge is a little cheap, but its quite serviceable at moment so I will leave it for time being.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Played it live couple times now - seems fine.

I am sure the finish will last - defects referred above are cosmetic, the paint does not appear to be thin/ worn through or anything of that nature.

Hardware seems solid, saddles are a bit worn but still okay, may swap out bridge later anyway.

Would probably want a backup as i tend to break strings a lot.

Overall Rating : 10
20 years on and off. Played a nasty cheap strat copy for many of the past 10 years. This guitar is far superior.

Have also recently acquired a Godin Solidac (lovely), a Traynor YCV 40 2X10 and a Roland JC77 - run these in stereo via Blue tube valve preamp, behringer tremolo and boss reverb - sounds great.

This guitar was, IMHO, a bargain. I put gfs vintage alnico pups in, a lovely pearloid pickguard, and it looks and sounds great, and cost < $500 AU all up.

Iuse a little marshell and a old Goldentone Bassmaster.Sounds just great.Any one that has ever played this axe is just blown away by the sound.Vintage Srat tone the Pick ups seem very powerfull don,t know the make.It has real balls.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
It was great when new still going stong.Could do with a fret job now.
Plays like any good strat i have it to suit me.some like a smother lower action.Don't know What the body is made of frett board looks like maple it has sky blue finish.Still loos good for it's age.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Ihave played this guitar live a lot of guitar players have never seen a profile and are impressed with the tone.As i said still in good condition metal work ie:brige saddles lost there shine.I play harp more than Guitar so it hasn't had a real hard life.

Never needed it

Overall Rating : 10
In my view the best stat copys that i have seen are Japan Profiles.
Alot better than some the cheaper real Srats.
Would find it hard to sell or trade it is just a blues lovers axe.
Sounds good in any amp.Origonally had a 62 fender Vibroverb it was that crisp but lol that has long gone.
If your looking for a poor mans Version of the classical Strat sound
you can,t go wrong.

Not sure what year it was made
Has 22 frets, thin neck, 5way selector with two tone's.
Finis is black with orange Flame, strat body

Sound : 8
Has a great bluesy sound. with good quality strings on it, it easily matches my friends Jackson (which is far more expensive). i use mine with a marshall 30 watt amp which has all the power i need

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
This guitar had suffered from some neglect when i got it but not too bad, i had to re solder the input jack and the pickup selecter can sometimes cut out when it is bumped. the volume knob is not out of shape as though it melted but it still works perfectly.
the Body is very good, only one small chip in the finish

Reliability/Durability : 7
Probably wouldn't use this guitar live unless i fixed the Pickup selector. this guitar has had quite a workout from me my friends and the people who owned it before me but it has lasted well through it all and is very solid and reliable

I've only been playing for a bit under a year. if i lost this guitar i would consider myself lucky if i coulf find another guitar of this quality for a reasonable price i.e $400 - $500. I've used those cheapo $299.95 (Austarlian) guitars and they don't even come close.
For a beginner this is the way to go, has a great neck that's easy to play. my friend who's been playing for 8 years loves this guitar

Profile Vintage Strat Copy, not sure of the year made. 22 frets, 5-way selector, 2 dial (volume and tone), cream white finish, 3 pickups. Mine came with a soft cover carrying case, whammy bar, strap.

Sound : 8
For what my music needs are this guitar suits it very fine. I am an amatuer song writer and i play mostly rock and alternative. The sound quality out of my amp(DOD Grind) is not half bad. Effects that are mostly used are acoustic and distorted. I find that there is usually a fair amout of static interference when i use distortion. Not my amp though, tried different guitar and there was no interference.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
the only gripe about the finish of my guitar is the selector knob fell of and is now just a metal switch, and the volume knob completly fell off. Other than that, pretty good finish.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar can withstand quite a bit of punishment. I've had this guitar for over 10 years and it's still in excellect condition minus the volume knob. If i was playing a gig i would still prefer to have a back up guitar, it's stupid not to.

Overall...I received this as a started guitar. i have been playing on and of for over 10 years. If I had this guitar lost or stolen i more more than likely get a different guitar. I like this guitar because it is a cheap, good quality, and solid guitar. If you are a stating guitar player, you don't really need to spend a tone of money on a expensive strat or epiphone, just get a guitar like the profile. They look like strats and play just as good. Then when you get better, upgrade to a better guitar.

This is Strat copy made in the 70s sometime. It has 21 frets, 3 single coils, etc etc etc.. Its pretty much exactly the same features as a Strat. I was actually told in a shop once this was the closest thing you can get to a real strat. The tuners are old! Neck is thin with medium frets. Maple it is. Finish is right red (yuk) with white scratch plate.

Sound : 3
It has a right Strat sound, in fact if you are looking for a classic Strat sound in a very cheap guitar this is it. But I play metal and just ought a Jackson which buries it! It also feeds back quite a bit if you do overdo the distortion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
When I got the guitar it was in terrible condition, the tuning was SO bad, bridge out of line, neck becoming displaced, etc. Good action though. The guy before didn't treat the guitar quiteso well.

Reliability/Durability : 1
The strap always falls off. The finish is ecoming tattered (ut its 20 years old), the hardware is still good. I woulnd't use it as a backup.

Never needed it.

Overall Rating : 3
I am happy i now have a much better guitar. In perfect condition this is an excellent copy (I've seen it $700 australian dollars second hand in mint condition) but mine is in terrible condition. Closest thing you'll get to a real USA strat.
