I just made a trade for a late 60's/early 70's Raven electric guitar. It has the look of a Mosrite, and the closest thing I have found is a Univox Custom Hi-Flyer. Apparently Raven was imported to Canada, and made a number of electric guitars over the years. I imagine they were forced out of business due to lawsuits.
It has 22 frets, on a 2 pc neck, it also has 2 tone switches, as well as a dial for tone, and one for volume. The pickups are quite large, but I am not sure of their origin. It has a sunburst paint job, with a tortoiseshell pickguard. It came with a strange bridge, similar to a Univox, but placed closer to the second pickup. It also has a whammy bar that works quite well.

I use a Fender Stage 185, which is a dandy little amp with amazing sound. I just had it tuned up as it is close to 20 years old. I plugged in this guitar and was quite pleased with the sound. It is a bit on the twangy side, but it is supposed to be a surf style guitar.

This guitar needs a set-up, but isn't too far out of whack. One of the tuning pegs is missing a bit on the headstock, but it doesn't effect the playing.

This guitar is new, but if is as old as I think it is, then it ought to go the distance...

I have been playing for 22 years, and have a '85 squire strat that still plays great, as well as a few acoustics, and some other electrics not worth mentioning. I am a big surf fan, but also enjoy everything from Neil to the Yardbirds. I read that Cobain used a Univox, and I can see that a grungee sort of sound can be tweaked from this style of guitar. I would love to won a Mosrite at some point-I recently saw the aged Ventures play, with their own line of Ventures Mosrite inspired guitars, and they sounded amazing. Nookie Edwards, the lead guitarist is 74 and still kicks ass.
The finish on this beast needs some attention, but overall I am quite happy with it.
If anyone has any info on this guitar, please feel free to email me at brokenhead1@gmail.com I would be happy to email a phot if you want.
The closest one I have seen as I mentioned earlier is at this link, about 3/4 of the way down...http://www.myrareguitars.com/1960guitars.html
