Typical PRS copy. The woods used seem to be good quality. Set neck, 2 covered humbuckers, toggle, tune-o-matic bridge. Mine had been upgraded to Sperzel locking tuners (an upgrade that I try to make for all of my guitars).
Sound
:8
As far as I know, the pickups are the stock pickups. I have previously owned an PRS (which I then traded for a Parker) and have some frame of reference when comparing the two. The sound is a bit darker but not in a necessarily bad way. The Raven actually has a chunkier sound, but doesn't have the character of the PRS.
Action, Fit, & Finish

I truly enjoy playing this guitar. It plays quite well and intonates beautifully. The fretboard is on the narrower side, but even with my fat fingers it plays comfortably. I purchased this guitar secondhand (as with all of my 15 guitars, buying new makes no sense) and had to strip off paint and contact paper to get to the original finish which is still quite nice.

The Raven guitars are a great value. This is my second Raven product (the other beiong a rp 650) and I am comploetely satisfied. It's not a high end guitar (I've owned my share) but it is a very good intermediate guitar.

Holy cow. I've been doing this 40 years and I haven't played a guitar like this. Best one prior to this was a 1972 walnut Gibson SG Custom (triple pickup). The B&G pups are just fine for everything I do. No noise, high gain, bright, full sounding. Not that it matters much but they look real cool too. I play it through a Yamaha DG-stomp...a fine combination. The guitar is a little heavier than I'd like but if that's what it takes to sound and sustain like this, I accept it.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
I got this right from the guy who took it out of the warehouse that got it from Korea. It was in tune when I got it and needed zero adjusments to the neck or bridge (amazing ain't it?). Everything fine and dandy and beautiful. The finish is as good as I've ever seen on any guitar with the possible exception of some of Ed Romans.
Reliability/Durability
:10
I've had this guitar for 7 months and have used it on every gig along with my Raven RP450 hollowbody. It is reliable, durable, beautiful, and musical. If you want more than that then take up the violin or something. Strap buttons solid and oversized, hardware first rate and still shinning.

I've been playing 40 years and doing it for $$ 36 of them. I know the good stuff....trust me, this is the good stuff. For the money this has gotta be the best stuff. You can't improve on good wood, good construction, attention to detail, and professional hardware, put together with care. You could fancy it up a bit but you won't really make it much better than it already is. It is probably the best value in an electric guitar in my lifetime.

LP double cut-away, 2 HB pu's, 1 vol, 1 tone. Mahogany set-neck, mahogany body with an ash(?) veneer and single ply cream binding. generic tune-o-matic bridge and stop tail-piece, no-name tuners (but not bad quality) 24 fret 24 3/4" scale neck with LP standarnd style inlays. Look like MOP, but probably "plastic" - but nicely inlaid. Basically a LP double cut-away clone.
Sound
:9
Played through my dual rectifier was brighter than my Carvin Holdsworth model. Attack was more pronounced, and has pretty good sustain. PU's are a little "thin" sounding, but not so bad that it is unplayable. Unplugged the guitar is very loud and resonant. A good indication that a new set of pickups will bring out the beast (I mean that in a good way). I can't complain for the price range. I purchased it more for its construction than electronics. PU's are easy to change. I'm pleased with its tonal qualities.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:6
Overall after I tuned it out of the box, the action was SUPERB. I don't know if this is indicitive of all Raven's, but kudos on the action. Does sound like it needs a good pro setup (intonation mainly). I may have the nut replaced in the future for a bone one, but not because the playability reasons. Just to get it closer to a classic LP sound. Finish is thick at neck joint, and cracked below base of headstock on boths sides. I don't think it came from the factory this way, though. Since i bought it from an estate auction.
Reliability/Durability
:No Opinion
The finish may crack where it is too thick, but other than that, the instrument feels and looks solidly build. I don't gig, but do record and as such purchased it for its construction for the type of sound it could produce as a result.

I've always been partial to the mahogany bodied set-neck guitars and this one meets all my sonic expectations. I plan to purchase one of the 300 models ( the single LP cut away ). I would love ot get my hands on another one of these models, but with p90's.

This is a follow up to my review. I have had this guitar for about a year now and I am Sorry. I am sorry I am neglecting all my handmade U.S. guitars. I swapped out the bridge pickup for a Dimarzio megadrive to get a little hotter sound. This sounds like a great old Les PI traul and Looks like a PRS. I also removed the name. All the players always freak over this guitar thinking it costs over 3 grand. Besides being a great player, one thing no one mentions is this guitar is so musical. Buy these before they run out of the great sounding mahogony they are using. These will not always sound so good , they might start using the crap mahogony that they make the new gibsons out of that sound waterlogged.

Original pickups sound good, if a little dark, but I replaced the bridge pickup w/ a hot (20+ ohm) Bartolini humbucker, and now it just wails though any amp or amp simulater I try. Has teriffic sustain on both pickups--fat on the neck, screamin' on the bridge which is also tapped for good strato-tones.
I did put the original pickup in another guitar I own, and it sounds fine there.
This is a great LP substitute. It playes as well as any gibson (better than any PRS I've owned--7, in fact), and produced dead-on LP tone, and then some. It's also more comfortable than an LP.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Purchased used (CHEAP!!!), so factory comment is irrelevant.
Plays very well--close action, only one bum fret that I should sand down a little, but it's something I can play around.
This axe is solidly-made, at least as well as any top-$ American product. Everything lines up, and all the joints look perfect.

Been playing 30 years or so, many styles (rock, metal, fusion, blues, jazz--NO COUNTRY).
I also own a PR450 (hollow version of the 350), and have a similar feeling for it.
It plays as well and sounds as great as any guitar I own/have owned. Have had in my colection recently a'77 Gibson L5S and a 1999 Gibson LP Classic AAA, among other LP, PRSs, etc. Frankly, this inexpensive, import axe blows both those "fine" guitars off the planet. I've since sold both gibsons, but retained my Ravens! And I play'em.
Pay no attention to those anti-Korean guitar snobs--this baby cooks.
Only gripe is that it could be a couple pounds lighter to go easy on my poor, wrecked shoulder.

24 Frets top hat pearloid inlays
Mohogany body with an awesome amber ash top
1 Volume, 1 tone, a three way toggle switch for pickups
Dual Humbuckers, the stock pickups have been replaced with PRS Dragon II in both the neck and bridge positions
upgraded electronics throughout
The finish is an amber colored transparent ash that looks like waves of water
The body is an offsert double cutaway reminiscent of PRS
Tune-O-Matic bridge
Gotoh style tuners
Semi-fat set-in neck, medium frets
Sound
:9
With the mohogany body and ash top couple with the PRS Dragon II pickups the sounds is scary beautiful. Can go from clean to mean with a flick of a switch.
I have a Marshall Valvestate, A Gallien-Kruger 250ML, a V-AmpII modeling system, a Danelectro triple wah, and a Boss Turbo Overdrive.
Quiet, rich on neck position bright and mean on the bridge position.
I can do anything with V-ampII but its not a strat sounding out of phase axe.
I freakin love it!

This is where Raven falls short. This is my second Raven (that is a testimonial in and of itself), and both went right to shop for a professional setup( action, intonation, etc). I bought this one after someone invested time and money in upgrading the electronics and installing the PRS pickups (I'm the second owner)and it still played like shit. I took it the next day to the guitar shop where they set up everything right for me (like I knew they would and could) and I could not be happier. This time they filed the frets for me, ( last time they were fine)and the neck is perfect. I'm giving it a 5 beacuse the way it came was a 1 and now it's a 10 this averages out to a 5. But remember, these guitars can be adjusted to play perfectly, and at the price you really just can't go wrong.

I love these guitars. I feel this is a poor mans (I'm not poor either!) Paul Reed Smith. They are as pretty as anything out there, and once you get rid of the stock pickups, they sound as pretty as anything out there. If this guitar were stolen I'd find out who did it, and sell his sister to the Saudi's.

The pickups sound great after getting it back from some tuning. It plays how I wanted it to, once tuned up. Out of the box it was not impressive at all.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The finish of the guitar was wonderful! Only problem was the tone control is crooked. Like most others I found the action very high. Took it into shop and had new eb slinky .9 (nickel coated) strings put in, neck adjusted and intonation set.... Was a totally diff. guitar afterwards! Plays like a champ now, out of box sound was lacking, but like most things personal preference rules. Once you replace the crappy strings and have it tuned up you will be very impressed with the sound considering the cost!
Reliability/Durability

It appears to be well made and I expect no problems with durability, except for maybe the tuning controls, which are very cheep looking. Only time will tell so I am going middle of the road on the review.

This is a followup to an earlier contribution. This is the PRS shaped Raven solid mahogany body and neck with a truly beautiful flamed maple top (not a picture). I took this guitar to a professional who has done work on my other guitars. He set the action and the intonation for me. I also had him install an Ibanez v7 humbucker in the neck position and an Ibanez v8 humbucker in the bridge position replacing the chrome covered stock pickups that cam with the Raven. He blessed the tuners (after tightening them) and said they were fine. The action is so low and fast now its incredible and the harmonics now jump off the guitar (they were non-existant before).
Sound
:9
With the Ibanez high end pickups this guitar has an unreal range of sounds. Clean is incredible in the neck position, overdrive with the bridge pickup is downright nasty. Both have sustain forever, the mahogany set neck and mahogany body contribute to this mightily. I can't believe that for $230 and $46 for the ibanez pickups(got em on ebay) plus the cost of setup ($63) I now have an incredible looking AND sounding guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
As far as the setup from the factory I found it to be unsatisfactory. the pickups were loose and muddy sounding and the neck needed alignment, the tuners were loose. However all of these problems are easily overcome. This guitar after a 5 hour visit to the guitar shop is now incredible. Granted it did cost $63 (due in part to my changing the pickups). As far as the things that cannot be fixed like finish, and construction these were all excellent. My score will be reflected on what the CAN be, not how it comes in the box.

The only other thing I would like to add is that I bought a SBK Freedom hardshell case that has a molded interior that looks like a strat. This case cost me 65 bucks with tax included and fits the RP350 like a friggin glove! Total cost for this rig is $374.00!!! I'm going to factor in the price in my overall rating based on current sound, looks and feel and give it a 10! With a little effort and some extra cash you simply can't lose!

I'm guessing its a 2001 or 2002 guitar made in Korea.
24 frets
Mahogony body and neck with a flamed cherry burst top.Sort of PRS looking solid body.
One volume, one tone, 3-way pickups selector LP style.
Two Korean alnico style humbuckers with shiny chrome covers.
Tune-O-Matic style bridge in the Les Paul style.
regular Gotoh looking tuners,
Neck is in between a strat a LP, rosewood fretboard, diamong shapes inlays.
Came with a cable, and a tool for the truss rod.

I'm a shredder but also play classic rock, I played Always with you, Always with me by Satriani and Wait by White Lion on this. It did fine on both. I ran it straight into my GK 250ML in the overdrive channel, with chorus a reverb and without. It sounded better with no effects. I had trouble finding the pick harmonics that jump off my Custom LP amd Ibanex RG760 but this is probably because the intonatiojn needs to be set. More on that later.
I am tempted to put Ibanez v7 and v8 pickups, we'll see....
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
Action was a mile high. I got a nosebleed it was so high. I took the Raven out of the box , and set the action as low as I could without fretting out or buzzing. It sounded terrible. I Tweaked the truss rod and it sounded terrible. I raised the pickups and it sounded terrible. I tweaked the truss rod and sounded terrible. I was about to smash the Raven when I decided to change the strings to my usual Ernie Ball Super Slinkys. The Guitar came to life!!!! The strings thjat came with this guitar were awful. You must change the strings before you even plug it in. Now it has killer sustain, as much as my Les Paul, and way more than my Ibanez.
As far as looks, this is one pretty guitar! It has the flame maple top which makes it look like Tiger Stripes!!! Awesome. I fell in love with it immediately. Now mind you I bought this guitar on Ebay sight unseen ans sound unheard. I figured worse comes to worse I throw everything away start with the body. But the neck is smooth and fast, frets are fine. No flaws anywhere there as far as finish is concerned. The binding around the body is perfect, no binding on the neck and this is a first for me, as I have always played very high end guitars. But its fine especially for under $250!
The volume control doesn't sit exactly level and has a merry-go roung look to it when you turn it. No biggie. I might replace them I might not. they are the bell style.
The pickups move around and I can't make them sit still. I will ask someone to help me with that.I like the neck, had no trouble feeling at home on it. After playing the guitar I noticed my fingertips where my callouses are had turned black. No idea what this is, maybe oil they used to treat the rosewood. I wiped the guitar off with my guitar cloth, washed my hands and played again. I had to was two more times. I hoipe this stops soon. I'm going to give the looks a 10, and the hardware a 4. this averages out to 7

I believe you could play this axe out and get alot admiration from the crowd. It now stays in tune as well. I might for 50 bucks put in some grover tuning machines though. If you are playing out you can't afford to go out of tune in mid-song. The Chrome will wear off in time the same way the gold wore off my Gibson LP and the black wore off my Floyd Rose on the Ibanez. The paint job is rock solid though and I expect that to age beautifully. I don't trust any strap buttons, though these seem as good as any. Taking one guitar to gig is like playing golf with one club. I don't do it, and never will. I need different sounds as well as well as different tuning, plain and simple.

I wish I would have asked about a case or bag.
If it got stolen I would assume that this relationship was not meant to be. But I would be both sad and angry.
I wanted a guitar that was less valuable than my now "vintage" Les Paul, plus it's not as heavy. This also fills a niche in between my Ibanez and my Gibson. I also have an Ovation acoustic. I have the usual assortment of racks and pedals, and if you get addicted to them it doesn't matter what your guitar sounds like I think.

For a Korean made guitar, this thing smokes. Carved mahogany body with a set mahogany neck. I bought mine as a blem, so the finish kinda sucks-but hey, ya don't play the finish....right? The tunomatic bridge seems very solid and secure- I had no problem intonating it

I read reviews on this guitar before mine arrived and the consensus seamed to be that pickups sucked as far playing distorted. When I plugged mine in - it sounded very Les Paulish, thick and woody. It was a difficult decision for me to pull them out and put in my EMG's.I think the EMG's sound better, but they better sound good - I paid more for the EMG's than I did for the guitar.

No unusual functional features here - two humbuckers and a Tune-O-Matic style bridge. Fortunately, that's all I want from a guitar (whammy bars seem to leave something to be desired in the tuning.)
It's a thick (1 1/2 to 2") solid body (mahogany). I'm sure someone feels they designed it, but it has a PRS look to me. The Koreans made it for me in 2001.
For those who haven't held one, this is a fairly heavy guitar.
The neck is medium thickness with thin-to-medium frets.
Allen wrenches and a cheap cord were included.
Sound
:9
I currently have a Peavey Transfex.
The original strings had a very thick, smooth low end (muck like flat wound strings). As it came set up, it had little volume.
OK, if you're thinking about buying one here's the key to it all: DON'T BE AFRAID TO ADJUST!. Out of the box, the action was stiff. I cut down the relief. It now plays better than my SG and doesn't fret out. The pickups come set very low. Raise one side or both and you can accentuate high or low end tones. It also has screw adjustments if you think one or two strings, probably mid-range, need increased.
After the first time I tried it, I thought I'd change the pickups. After playing with it a while, I've found that they're capable of quite a bit. They just don't come from the factory that way.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
As I said above, the action was too high when it arrived, but it adjusts down to better than a $300 guitar deserves to be. I've seen $500 Epiphones that couldn't compare. Heck, my Gibson doesn't have this good an action.
There was a small chip in the fretboard at the side of the second fret. Otherwise it's practically perfect. The finish is glossy and deep. After nine months, the chrome is still shiny. Everything fits together very well.

This is a two-part answer.
The selector switch was broken when it arrived. I contacted the dealer (not Raven West) who said he talked to Raven and they would replace the switch. I never heard from either of them again and fixed it myself. Any score in this field is because Raven West is so good.
Part II: I bought another Raven later from Raven West Guitars. Raven West and Eric are the poster boys for how customer service should be. On a one to ten scale they deserve at least a ten. Eleven if bonus points are available.

I've been playing longer than I care to remember. You'd think I'd be better at it by now. I grew up with Gibson, Rickenbacker and Hagstrom guitars. I currently use mostly old Yamaha's (SG1500, SBG200, SHB400), but also have a Gibson SG. A Hagstrom project is in the basement.
The Raven may not be in the league of the SG1500. However, the Gibson is currently up for sale. I don't see that happening to the Raven soon. I prefer the Raven over the Gibson. The SG feels better to hold, the Raven plays better and has pretty good sustain.
If it were lost, would I buy another one? In a heartbeat. I've already purchased a 12-string Raven. If I could find another RP350 at the price I paid, I'd buy it and try Quad Rails on it. I haven't been able to bring myself to make serious changes to the one I have.
The one thing I'd change would be to put better strings on them. I've now had three Ravens. The 12-string was the only one to come with decent strings. Even those weren't on properly (the B was lighter guage than the E, the octave G was even higher).
Overall, this thing is a great guitar for the money. $1,000 might buy you a better one, but I don't think $500 will.

2002 model. Made in Korea. 24 frets. Beautiful ash top. 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3 way selector. It has 2 stock chrome covered passive humbuckers. The body and neck are both mahogany. The finish is a stunning amber quilted ash top. The body style is a PRS single cut copy. It has a tune-o-matic bridge and stock chrome tuners. The neck has a rosewood fingerboard with star fret mark inlays. It came with a cord, warranty card and a smile on my face.

I had always been a strat man through and through but, had never really tried any mahogany bodied set neck guitars. This guitar has the tone I have been searching for since 1982 when I started playing. I am running this guitar from the amp: to a Line 6 DM-4 distortion modeler into a Fender CyberTwin amp. This guitar is quieter than any of my other guitars even at gig volume which is really,REALLY LOUD. The sound is like a dream as full and majestic as anything ever. On the rock side of things think Billy Gibbons, Slash,Randy Rhoads, and first album Eddie Van Halen minus the tremelo. On the clean side of things think Lynard Skynard, Mark Tremonti intros, Dobbie Brothers, and Steely Dan. I like everything about this guitar, it ain't going to do a strat inbetween the middle and the neck but, it does what it does better than I would have ever imagined.
Action, Fit, & Finish

When I opened the box was packed better than most with plenty of foam and bubble wrap. This is the kicker to me,and I read on another review the same thing, it was still in tune. It traveled from California to Arkansas and it was still in tune. The only thing I have done to this guitar is adjust the pickup height to more evenly match each other. This guitar is absolutely perfect no flaws, no overspray, no rough frets, no problems man.

I have already played it live and it did great. Everything seems solid as a rock. If the finish is going to last? I don't know but, I treat all of my guitars like babies so if it doesn't last it won't be my fault. The strap buttons are big enough and seem solid. Like I said I have already played it live and it did wonderfully I can depend on it and have. I never gig without a backup but, I haven't used my JEM or my STRAT since I got it.

I bought the guitar from Raven West Guitars and Eric Emailed answers to my questions and also answered them on the phone. He delivered what I wanted and was knowledgable about his product. The warranty is for the lifetime of the instrument as long as it is the original owner and the guitar hasn't been modified.

I have been playing guitar since I was 13 years old I am now 32. I own 10 guitars:83 American Fender Strat, Ibanez Jem, Ibanez S470, Yamaha Pacifica, Chiquita Travel guitar, Ovation Ultra GS, Fender Acoustic, a Rogue Bass, Rogue A/E, and a beautiful Raven RP350. I am completely satisfied with this guitar, if it were lost or stolen I would get another one shipped the same day. The tone from this guitar is amazing pure and simple. It is the first guitar I have ever bought without much knowledge of before the purchase. I am usually not that impetuous in this case I am glad I was. It is a beautiful instrument the website pictures make the color appear more orange than amber due to the bright lighting it is a much mellower color in person. A true bargain.

I bought this guitar becuase I was looking for more of a Les Paul sould to offset the strat sound I can already get with my G&L Legacy. The sound of this guitar was dissapointing. I really wanted to like this guitar because it looked so nice (copy of a PRS), but to be honest the sound was not up to par. The pickups sounded weak and were not punchy or warm. The overall sound of the guitar was unfocused and very poor. When plugged into my Mesa/Boogie mark III I noticed that the sound did not vary very much when the bridge or middle pickups were used. Unplugged the buzzing of the neck was even more noticable. After playing both, I would easly say that an Epiphone Les Paul sounds much better than this guitar hands down. I don't know if I just got a lemon as most people reviewing this guitar here seem to like the sound, but I can't say the same!
Action, Fit, & Finish
:4
The factory setting were terrible. The neck of the guitar buzzed all over the place. The strings that were put on at the factory were real crap! I changed them right away hoping that it would sound better, and it did but not sound anywhere near what a good guitar should sould like! I tried to fix the buzz by ajusting the truss rod, but I needed to also raise the bridge quite a bit and still the buzzes were there! I also noticed that the bridge was installed reversed. What I mean is the screws to adjust the strings were facing the neck of the guitar and not the bottom. I don't know how that got by! The finish on this guitar was rather nice, but there were some blotches of finish that looked like they were not applied properly near the neck of the guitar. If you look closly at the back of the guitar you could quite easily make out the glue joints of the peices of wood used to make up the body of the guitar.
Reliability/Durability
:6
I don't honesly know how long this guitar would last because I shipped it back right away! I'll be nice and say that the finish on the body of the guitar did look durable, and the hardware looked decent except for the tuning pegs which were loose.
Customer Support
:7
The customer support was good to me. They refuned my money right away. I asked them if they had another guitar which didn't have the above mentioned defects that they could ship to me as a replacement, and they were honest enough to tell me that all the models that they had were not up to snuff and I would do better by looking for another model or dealer!
Overall Rating

I rate this guitar a 10 in the looks department, but 4 for everything else! If it were stolen or lost I would not replace it, because I would not keep it long enough to get stolen! I wish the Raven guitar company would get the sound of this guitar right to match the looks. If they could do that, they would have a very nice guitar. I can not compare this guitar to any other guitar, becuase I haven't tried any guitars that were this bad. Remember you get what you pay for! Good from far but far from good! I think I'll stick with my G&L. . .

The sound of this guitar is up there with the best The maple top ads a bright touch to this mahogany guitar I have owned a 1968 Les Paul Deluxe for years This guitar outshines it tone wise dayin dayout, with or without an amp I dont need a Stat with this guitar around I do with the Les Paul Also be aware that there is a transparent film over the pickups and until this is removed you cannot judge the pickups The humbuckers sound better that the ones on my Heritage I love the high end on this guitar The bride is perfect for the funky Shaft tone Try and do that with a Les Paul

I was looking for a left-handed guitar with humbucking pickups, without a high price. I go back and forth with guitars I buy. I've had cheap Tokai's and Epiphone's, to Gibson Les Pauls, and Fender Americans. As a matter of fact I got the Raven to balance out my American Telecaster. The sound is good, but NOT I repeat NOT as good as a Les Paul. There are a few who have posted here that said that it sounds as good as a LP. NO WAY. I put this guitar in the same class as an Epiphone LP. The plus side is that the Raven is cheaper then the Epi. The bad side is your stuck with the Raven. Chances are that you will never be able to sell it.
The sound on the guitar is rather dark and unfocused. I think the reason for that is because they use several pieces of wood in the construction of these guitars. Anywhere you have a glue joint tone is lost.
The pickups are very nice. Once again I fell to these reviews and listened to other people who said the pickups need to be replaced. Well..I did and it was not good. I put in a Duncan JB, and I actually liked the Raven better than the JB, so I took the JB back. I did, however, re-pot both pickups.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:5
The binding on the guitar is bad. I can see the joints which looks bad.
Another thing with this guitar that nobody mentioned is the fact that the RP-350 is hardly arched top. It's very slight. Not as arched as a PRS.
The Fret job is great. I have never had a bad import fret job (personally) and I can get the action pretty low with no buzz at all.
I agree with some others that the nut is cut too low. I will replace that at some point.
The quilt is nice, but the grain gets stright towards the outer edge of the guitar on both sides. Import guitar makers (IMO) have ALWAYS sucked at exotic top guitars. I have never seen one that was really well done. My feeling is that if it looks half assed then don't even do it.
The tuning keys kinda look like the old Kluson's that Fender used in the early days. I did take the button off one of those and put one of my Fender buttons on it (to see if it would fit) and it fit. The reason I did that is because I want to get the vintage Gibson buttons to put on the Raven. I think it will work.
The pickup cavities and control cavity were well potted resulting in a real quite guitar.

I've been playing for 20yrs and have owned a great deal of equipment. I guess I'm an old gear head. My feeing on this guitar is that at good distance it looks real cool. It absolutly sounds as well as guitars costing twice as much, but not in the same league as a PRS, or Gibson LP. I don't care about comparing this guitar to $2000 instruments, but I don't want to give a false impression like some other tone deaf people have done. I would recommend this guitar to ANYONE on a tight budget. The reason is simple; it sounds as good as an Epi LP, LTD (ESP), Mexofender, lower end Ibanez, low end Jackson, or anything else in that price range. The truth is that it is every bit as good sounding as $600-$700 range guitars at half that price, so unless your bent on the name at the headstock or resale Rave is a good buy.
Keep in mind that it IS a $300 guitar and you will see evidence of that, unless you have little or no exposure to high end guitars.

Came with great quality (didn't expect that) well-padded gig bag.

THIS THING SURPRISED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!! When I read the other reviews, I figured "too good to be true", and I admit I was wrong. I am usually very skeptical, and I didn't expect the quality that this guitar really has. I have run it clean, straight through my mixer, and with my Digitech RP100, and it sounds great.
To tell you the truth, you just have to play one because I can't do it justice with words - heck, they're inexpensive enough right now, that it is possible to just do that. I swear (and I thought I wouldn't be one of these types of people) it will truly blow away someone who has a great ear and extensive playing experience.

The guitar was set up well. No problems or defects. Wiring and shielding looks great. Nice fretwork, BEAUTIFUL finish, blue-turquoise (it is darker than the pictures at the web site, and much more beautiful than the pictures). Great wood, really nice maple with ash top with an intricate grain. Off-white binding around the body. This guitar is flawless.

This guitar is built very solid. the finish looks like it would last for decades. I will probably eventually replace the tuners, although they are better than I expected. Funny thing, when I got the guitar, it was very near to being in tune! It hardly fell out of tune in shipping! if that isn't testament to this guitars heartiness, then I don't know what is. Everything is solid. I would have a backup guitar, but I probably wouldn't need it.

I am not used to paying such high praise to a product or company, but Eric at Raven West guitars also blew me away. The guitar I was first sent had a minor finish flaw on the headstock, and I mentioned it to Eric. He had me send it back, postage paid, and sent me a new guitar within THE SAME WEEK! I have never known of any company that gives the sort of prompt and friendly customer service RWG gave me. And I'm 39 years old. Also, this guitar has a limited lifetime warranty.

I've been playing 23 years. I own a 67 Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom, Dean EVO FT (another great guitar), Schecter S1, Ibanez AX120 (impulse buy), Fender jazz bass ('74 I think), Cort C4 bass, Korg D-16 digital studio, Korg Trinity & O1-W FD keyboards, Akai s-3000 sampler, Roland U-220 rack-mount synth, Zoom 234 drum machine and other assorted studio stuff.
The guitar came with more quality than I expected, and if it were lost or stolen I would definitely buy another. And another. They also have other excellent styles that I really like, but I made the hard choice to buy this one over the others. It has a great looking PRS shape that just grabbed me.
I have compared this guitar to my others, and you probably won't believe this, but it sounds all around better than my Schecter and hotter and fuller than my Dean (this thing screams!). It is equal in it's own right to my Gibson in sound, and I have an exceptional Gibson. I can only imagine that if I switched out the pickups on my RP350 it would match it note for note. I know how that sounds, but..

2001 Korean-made solid-body PRS-style,24-fret,double-humbucking,3-way selector, help me guys, I'm running out of hyphenated words to describe this thing. Oh yeah, mahogany-bodied with a flame-maple top. Mine has the blue finish with the black "shadow" at the edges, solid black on the back, sides, and neck. The hardware is typical decent Korean stuff, similar to my Ibanez. Overall, not a lot of features because it's a basic, PRS-style guitar.
Sound

I play everything from blues to vintage rock to jazz. If the music calls for a solid-body two-humbucker guitar, this guitar nails it. The pickups are fine, but at the price you pay for these guitars, go ahead and buy the pickups of your choice if you think you need to. I didn't.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
I'd give it a "9". The setup was fine, but as everyone else says, the strings were awful. They were replaced with D'Addario .10's within about a half an hour. You would think that the factory would have caught on to this by now. It might add about 25 cents to their cost to use better strings. It's not really a big deal, though, because we all have personal preferences for strings, anyway.
The only flaw is a VERY slight imperfection in the black finish on the underside of the upper cutaway. There probably was a speck of dust in the finish. You can tell that they tried to polish it out at the factory because the surrounding finish isn't quite as glossy as the rest. I e-mailed Eric at Ravenwestguitars.com, and he offered to replace the guitar. I thought about it for a day and decided to keep this guitar because the flaw is SO minor. You'd never see it if I didn't point it out to you. By the way, I have occasionally thought about trading this guitar for another piece of gear, but my wife won't let me! She says that it is the prettiest of my ten guitars, and she'll buy it if I ever need to sell it, just so I won't get rid of it.
Reliability/Durability

Absolutely durable. I don't anticipate any problems.
Customer Support

Again, Eric offered immediate replacement for just the tiniest flaw. I don't remember the length of the warranty, a year, maybe? It's not likely to be an issue. Any serious "manufacturer's defects" would have shown up by now. Any future problems would most likely be related to maintenance, which is my responsibility.

I have been playing for 35 years, and I own ten decent guitars. I have owned plenty of Fenders, Gibsons, Rickenbackers, etc. This guitar is NOT a hand-built work of art, but it is a very well-made instrument and an incredible value. If it were stolen, I might not replace it because I have another two-humbucker solid-body guitar, but don't think that means there is anything wrong with this guitar. It's too bad that Raven guitars aren't widely available at dealers so that players could compare them to other brands. If you could compare, you would find that some Raven models are the SAME guitars as certain imported Hamers and other guitars with better-known brand names, and the Ravens are always cheaper. Buy one, you'll be pleased.

2001 Model, Korean Made, beautiful PRS Sytle guitar. 24 frets, 2 covered humbuckers with flamed maple top, I chose the Cobalt Blue finish. (The burst to black colors looked a little too Butt Rock)All mahogony body & neck. Dark blue transparent finish on back and neck. Mid-range import parts, seem OK for now. Came shipped in a cardboard box with packing foam. I will say that after seeing these online and always wanting a PRS style guitar, I sold my $1,000 custom built strat on e-bay and bought one of these. Glad I did.

I play in a modern rock band (Foo Fighters, Lit, U2, Weezer)and this sounds great. I'm running through a Mesa Recto-verb 50w head and 1/2 stack with Vintage 30's. I run an Alesis Quadraverb through the fx loop for delay, and modulation effects and a Dunlop crybaby with a Hendrix pot in it. Bridge pick-up is very Les Paul sounding and the middle position has a nice SRV spank to it, especially on the clean and push channels. Neck pick up gives you that classic Slash solo tone. I usually use EMG 81's for my bridge, but will keep the stock one for now. Suprised that the pickups sounded so good. Had to replace my ESP pickups quick.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
String action was a bit high and intonation off a little, but a new set of Di Addario 11's livened it right up. The frets were well seated and even, but a little tarnished. I masked off the fretboard and used a little steel wool to make 'em sparkle. The finish is beautiful, 1 little glue spot at the bookmatch seam on the bottom end.
A little area near binding on the bottom horn is a bit uneven. The tone pot is bent slightly, creating an uneven rotation, no biggie, I don't use it anyway.

This guitar will become my main unit for live shows. I have an ESP Viper-300 for back up (SG style- Also Korean made)It seems plenty sturdy. I am getting a good hardshell case and some Schaller strap locks. For the price, you could completely gut the guitar, replace all the hardware and pickups with Gibson grade stuff, and still pay less than half of a real Les Paul.

Purchased it From Eric at Ravenwest Guitar in LA. We e-mailed several times and talked twice. He even held the unit for several days for me while my other one sold ( I was set on the Cobalt finish and he only had one left). Ordered it on a Tuesday, got it the following monday by noon. Came US mail, $21.00 for shipping. I had it shipped to my work at a design company and several of the wood shop guys guessed is probably cost about $1500. I've played classic rock, punk, melodic metal, and modern rock. I tend to hang on to my gear. I played the same 1973 50w Marshall for 12 years before moving to smaller Fender combos and finally back up to the Mesa. This guitar rounds out my current live set up quite nicely and I'm looking forward to road testing it. This is the first time I've ever bought a unseen, unplayed guitar and relied mostly on reviews from this site to calm my fears. Glad I did. It was just the thing I needed to spark a new creative period.

Playing 25 years. Other than the Celestion Blue I strictly use Ted Weber Speakers for all my amps. I'm more into the amp side of the sound than I am the guitars. Homebrew clones of the '59 Bassman, Tweed Deluxe, Champ, Marshall Plexi etc. several low watt, all tube practice amps. Anyway...go ahead and buy your X-thousand dollar real deal LPs, PRS's, or whatever...but there's a real reason why Gibson and PRS send they're lizard lawyers out into the world fighting the shipment of these things into the U.S. The quality of these foreign-made guitars scare the crap out of these guys and if they can't get a slice of the pie (like marketing the KOREAN made PRS Santana model for a ridiculous $800 or so) they want to just keep them out of the country. Well, whatever...I paid $185 for this Raven and it's a thing of beauty...get 'em while you can. I know I will.

Sounds very good for a $360 dollar guitar. Not as good as my Jackson SL1, but good for the money. The strings that came on this guitar are crap. I will be changing them soon. The pickups are very responsive and have good tone. Very quiet. You can use this guitar to paly any kind of music. I would't know about country though.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Guitar came set up pretty well. Except for the strings, ii plays well right out of the box. The neck is narrow but of medium thickness. Players with big hands may have problems playing chords. I had some problems initially with one of the solid strings slipping and going out of tune with moderate bending. Once I stretched it in, it stayed in tune.
The flame maple top finish is ok. I have read reviews that the finish is beautiful, killer, etc. Let's get real. Take a look at the finish on a USA made Jackson sometime.I own a Trans Green SL1 with a flame maple top. Now that is a finish all others should be compared to. It makes the finish on the Raven look ok.
The tone knobs on this guitar are cheap. They sit unevenly on the pots. I will be changing them. The nut looks like it is made of pretty cheap plastic. The rest of the guitar looks pretty well put together.

The Raven is a god value for the money, but not exceptional quality for the money. If I had to compare it qualty wise to something I already own I would have to say the Ibanez. Hmmm' they are both made in Korea, I wonder if by the same factory? If you ask Raven who makes them the only thing they will tell you is that it isn't at the Cort or Samick factory in Korea. That doen't left too much to guess.
I primarily bought this guitar because I wanted something with a different wood and that looked like a PRS. I will probably never be able to afford a real PRS, so why not have the next best thing.

Korean made PRS copy Hum/Hum w/ tune o matic bridge. Ocean blue qulited, solid mahogany body and neck. The tuners are Schaller-type and I think they are fine. The components are of good quality.

This guitar sounds very nice. A real versatile instrument with pretty good pickups, certainly better than expected. It is a full humbucking sound that can translate to many styles. I read the reviews and was somewhat skeptical, but I am pleasantly surprised with the quality. This will fit the versatile guitarists style very well. Solid mahogany and humbckers are a great combination. You'll like it.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was set up poorly, very poorly. The tune o matic bridge was on backwards. Quality control should have picked up that mistake quickly. The saddle adjustment was pegged to the body and there was too much dip in the neck. The strings were disgustingly bad, I change them with a new guitar anyway, but WOW they were bad!
On a positive note the guitar is beautiful. Deep quilted top and excellent finish. It is a very expensive looking guitar and it sounds pretty good too, go figure.
The plastic nut was not cut properly. The strings are buried in there. The overall quality of appearance and sound was worth the set up time and minor nusances.
A seven is a fairr rating. the website emphasizes quality over quantity and the bridge being placed backwards is a no brainer for lack of qulity control.

The guitar is very solid and the finish appears durable. There is a cheap plastic input jack holder that may not last too long, but it appears to be a very good quality. Certainly, better than anything in it's price range by far.
I would gig it without a backup. I keep up with my guitars and there is no problem with this one

I like Strats, but there are times that a Humbucking tone is the thing you gotta have. I like this guitar better than my Ibanez JEM 555 that I had at one time, I really do. I gets clean and dirty well.
I was looking for a guitar that sounded and looked great for a bargain price. I chased guitars on DigiBid and EBay for a while and grew tired of being glued to the computer. This guitar fits the bill. I would recommend this for any guitarists. Beginners should get the guitar set up by a competent guitar tech. This is my only beef and it is a major one. Quality control was a problem in this factory and other problems could, or will, rear there ugly head once people start buying these in droves. This is a really good guitar and a SUPER bargin. Buy one! or if you're going to buy a Epi Les Paul, buy two! This is worth the cash and I will keep this beautiful and toneful guitar.

O.K., let me tell you, I've used a Gibson Les Paul for 10yrs. now and never really considered anything else. Maybe a PRS but untill reciently they weren't made left-handed (and for the price I'd take a Gibson anyway). Unill the other day when a guy at an open mic asked me to try out his new Raven the RP350. It looked like a PRS was as heavy as my Les Paul and had a better high-end response than the Paul. I played it and had to have one, so when I was told that I could buy it online for about $400 I went straight to Ravenwestguitars.com and bought one. Trust me, a long time Paul fanatic, if you but a Raven you wont be disappointed(They even make a LP copy). Raven West Guitars scores a perfect ten in my book, and being left-handed, having leftys in stock, they earn even more of my respect.

2000 Raven RP-350. Made in Korea. This guitar has a solid mahogany body (arched top), mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. Great looking top. 2 Humbuckers with 3-way switch. 1 volume, 1 tone. Tune-O-Matic bridge like Les Paul. I personally would have prefered spliting humbeckers, but what you get for the money, you can't beat it.
Sound

Great sound. Humbuckers are quiet. Great sustain! I would put the neck and bridge pick-up against almost any others. The middle position is pretty close in sound to the neck position, but I don't really use it. Again, I prefer being able to split the PU's and run the inside and outside in parallel. Again, for the $$$ it can't be beat.

This is Raven's version of the famous PRS. Mahogany body, maple cap, killer (and I do mean KILLER) flame top, two humbuckers, one tone and one volume, three way switch. Les Paul style bridge and tailpiece. Standard tuners and a nice fat neck. Mine is a burgandy flame that fades to black at the edges and on the back. The body is bound in cream. Came with a molded cord. Not alot of extras, a very simple guitar, but exactly what I wanted.

I play guitar as a hobby and don't perform live. I run it through a Zoom 505II into my 1979 Fender Deluxe Reverb. For my purposes, it does everything I want it to do. Real heavy with great sustain. No need to change these pickups. I suppose there are those who always swap the pickups in guitars like these, but I won't be.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was in perfect intonation when it arrived at my door. I lowered the action a bit, but that's just personal preference. No buzzing at all. The rosewood fretboard is on the light side up around the 20+ fret range, but that means very little to me. I imagine some fingerboard oil would darken it up. Again, personal preference.
The finish on the body is incredible for a guitar in this price range, or in any price range. Mine has a burgandy flame that fades to black at the edges and is absolutely beautiful. I had a flame top les paul a few years back and this totally puts it to shame. I have no idea how they make these guitars for under $300. If you have a few extra bucks, get one just to hang on the wall. Even my wife was impressed! No flaws at all on mine. Looks like it came from a custom shop. Can't say enough about it. 10+++

I've been playing off and on for about 15 years. My other guitars are a Washburn WP50 (Les Paul copy) and a Ibanez PS10II. I love both of these guitars, but the RP350 outshines both of them. If it were stolen, I'd order another one the same day. I was considering a Hamer import when I bought this guitar, and I know I made the right choice. Nothing against Hamer because those guitars are also excellent, but when you compare prices, there really is no comparison. I'll be buying another Raven in the near future for sure. You can't go wrong for under $300. LAST WORDS: Get one!

I think this is a 2000 model PRS copy like none I've ever seen, great for the price great for even more money, even though it is made in korea its a nice guitar. I play rock, and it is the perfect match for my parker guitar. It has one volume and one tone and a three way selector. All the controls are quiet. I have had it for a week and am impressed. It has a stop bar tail piece similar to a les paul. Tuners have really suprised me i ordered sperzels because it is easier and faster to change strings but i would trust these tuners at a gig if i had to, they are a little tight but what do u expect. I give this catagory a 10

WoW sound. Unbelievable the neck pickup is awesome warm and full I would put it up agaist a Les Paul or a PRS any day. The bridge pickup is a little week but i have ordered a PRS pickup already. The pickups are suprisingly quiet as quiet as my parker. I like a heavy distortion at the bridge pickup and it is a little weak not bad for the money and maybe perfect for someone else but not me. I still and pleased with the sound this thing puts out and give this section a 9

The only thing i have done different from the box is change the strings they were probably ok but i wanted mine on it. The pickups and action were great like it was made for me. Intonation was good. The finish is amazing for this price the picture at the website does not do this guitar justice. I have the ocean blue fading to black around the edges, beautiful. One thing i did notice was a little blue paint on the side of the neck at the 23and 24ht frets. The side marker dots are a little small but not a problem. The neck is smooth and the action is fast. I give this catogory a 9.

I always take 2 or 3 guitars for backup only cuz I am paronoid. The finish and the guitar feel and look solid. At this point I give it a 9 only because time will tell.

I have been playing for 10 years now and I am no pro but I know what I like and I love this guitar. I would have paid hundreds more well worth the money. If you are worried about the colors the pictures dont show how beautiful these guitars really are. If I were to loose this guitar I would definatly buy from them again and probably will when I get some more money before everybody hears about them and the prices go up (prs). I hope they dont change a thing about these guitars dont add anything to make the prices go up. It keeps up with my parker guitar for 1/4th the money. Beautiful finish ala PRS. I cant say enuff good things about this guitar. I am already looking forward to my next one. overall rating 9.7

This is a brand new Raven RP350, which for those of you who don't know, it's Ravens own version of a PRS guitar. It's a pretty straight forward guitar, loaded with two humbuckers, 1 tone and 1 volume control, along with a 3-way selector located next to the tone and volume controls, so your hand wont accidentally hit it mid song. Not really sure about the tuners but they hold great and feel nice, so I really dont care if they're plain old stock tuners anyways. This model comes in about 5 or 6 different finishes, but I got mine in Cherry Sunburst. And if you look at that guitar on their website, that picture doesn't even come close to doing that finish justice. It's a much darker and richer color. It'll make you cry when you first see it. It also has a SET neck. Overall the features aren't anything special, but its a great guitar so it deserves a 10.
Sound
:9
I play....well...my music. Whatever style that may be (hard rock, punk, grunge), it works. At first I was kind of taken back by the sound because my crappy Fernandes guitar sounded better. But I forgot that I had to mess with the tone controls on my amp to get the sound I was after. Then after doing that I realized that the pickups sounded fantastic and they needed less tinkering with to get that sound I needed. I wouldn't say that these pickups are silent, but compared to the other guitars I have, the hum on it is hardly noticeable, and thats it, no squealling or massive feedback of any kind. This guitar sounds best when played clean. I have never played a guitar that sounded so full without being muddy before, its great. The one thing I did notice was that there really isn't a big sound difference between the neck and middle positions on the 3-way selector. No big deal, but just thought it was worth mentioning.
Action, Fit, & Finish

This is were this guitar shines. The finish is unbelievable. Even as I'm typing this I find myself taking breaks just to go look at it. But there were some finish problems that I saw when closer expected. It looks like there are tiny pencil tip dents (only 3 though) on the guitar, and near the horns of the guitar the binding and the finish kind of smear together or overlap in an unattractive way, but its hardly noticeable and this could have just been mine too. When I first got this guitar it was practically still in tune from when it left the store, but because of the freezing cold weather and the constant temperature changes, it was a little off, but no big deal. Other than that it was perfect.
Reliability/Durability
:No Opinion
I've only had it for a day now, so I can't really say anything about the reliability. Because alot can happen in a few short months, take for instance my Fernandes jaguar copy, when I first got it I thought it was great, but now I can't even stand to look at it. The neck joint was misaligned at the factory, and now the neck is so loose, despite tightning it down, that it keeps detuning my guitar every 5 minutes. The pickups produce massive feedback and the bridge pickup is dieing on me, and the frets have sharp ends to them. But just from handling a few guitars and knowing what characteristics a good, long lasting guitar should have, I can tell this guitar will last awhile. Everything looks to be of great quality.

Overall this guitar is a 10, hands down. With this guitar you dont get what you pay for, you get so much more. The only thing I hate about doing this is that it's actually a fantastic guitar. And once people find out about this guitar manufacturer and what quality instruments they make, they might end up increasing their prices, becuase in all reality they should. Even though I'm a college student and moneys tight Im still planning on buying another one, because at this price you cant afford not to get one.

The pickups are not as good as a PRS or Dimarzio High end pickups but hey You have to pay just as much for PRS pickups as you would for the whole guitar. I probably will go that route, These pick-ups are high end Korean.

2000 model from Korea. PRS style greenburst flame maple over mahogany body. Mahogany neck, rosewood fret board. Beautiful finish! A real looker. Chrome hardware. I replaced with gold. Set neck. 2 hums, tun-o matic bridge and stop tailpiece. Awful no name tuners. Even after tightening, they'd slip!

I play extremely heavy metal to light jazz and this guitar covers the sounds nicely. I use a custom rack setup and this thing sounds great. Fantastic sustain. Factory pick ups were good and were actually wax potted! I put in a S. Duncan in the bridge anyways. I wanted MORE!!
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action out of the box sucked! Strings WAY to high, neck incorrectly adjusted, intonation way off. Crappy strings didn't help either. Pick ups were not set up either. I was very concerned about guitar when it first arrived, it played so bad. After I did a CORRECT setup, guitar plays, intonates and sounds great. Neck is a little narrow. Chrome hardware was O.K. Tuners were complete junk. I asked about gold hardware but never got a response. I ended up changing it all to better quality gold stuff anyways. It also looks MUCH better. HELLO!!

Korean manufacture. Made in 2000. First off, I think I should post a sort of disclaimer; I bought this guitar because I was quite frankly blown away by the quality of the Les Paul style guitar I bought a while back (see my review of the RM-2000) I will try to be as critical as I can even though I find that quite hard to do considering the value, dollar for dollar, these guitars are. Yes, there are plenty of custom guitars out there that are beautifully made, finished etc. but certainly not at this price point! (most of those guitars start at about 10 times the money. Once you compare, you'll begin to see why I say it's hard to be critical for the money!) I'm not a dealer, I'm a guitar player who used to work in a music store and watch kids walk out with pieces of junk that cost way more than these guitars do. If I didn't think these were a great value I wouldn't be taking the time (I type with one finger! LOL!!!)to write this! Believe me, I'd rather be PLAYING! But if you're a guitar player looking to get the most from your hard earned dollar, you should really check these guitars out.
The Raven RP350 is a solid mahogany bodied guitar with a two piece book-matched flame maple top with a single creme top binding. It has a 24 fret set neck with rosewood fingerboard with low medium wide frets and pearl dot inlays. It appears to be in the standard Gibson scale. It is in the PRS "style" and has great contouring of the top and a beautiful emerald green transparent finish (fading to black around the edges) over the flame maple top. The back, sides and neck have been sprayed solid black. It has two covered humbuckers set in plastic creme pickup surrounds, one volume and one tone control (with gold gibson style "bell" knobs), a three way pickup selector switch, a tunamatic style bridge and stop tailpiece and good quality sealed diecast tuners. All of the hardware is chrome or perhaps even nickle. It came with a neck adjustment wrench, a moulded cord and a limited lifetime warranty card.

My band writes and plays guitar oriented progressive rock/world fusion. I'm using this guitar in the studio for recording. I used it both straight through the board and with my amps (Fender) out in the main room, and both with effects and clean. It performed quite well. The pickups are reasonably voiced, though weighted a bit to the treble side as are most imported pickups. These pickups seem a bit brighter than the pickups on my RM-2000, but are good sounding and quite musical. If I had to be super critical, I would ask Raven to design a pickup with a little more mid-range but that's just what sounds good to my ear. The volume and tone controls worked smoothly and were quiet, and the tone control rolls off the treble extremely well. I was able to approximate a cool strat like clear tone with the tone control wide open and a decent LP tone with the treble about half rolled off. Since sound is the most subjective thing to musicians, what sounds good and works for me might not be what you're looking for. I can only tell you that I almost always swap out the pickups on my imported guitars (Epiphone's etc.) and I haven't HAD to do that with any of the Raven's I've bought. I honestly pulled it from the box and started to record with them.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
The finish on this guitar is gorgeous. I've always been a sucker for a nice flame top and even though I don't know how thick the maple is-it is NOT a picture or veneer. Holding it to the light and turning it really shows the depth of the flame. The transparent emerald green color is really sharp looking and the clear coat is buffed to a glass-like luster. The factory setup was good. The intonation and action were both adjusted very well. I did have to tweak the truss rod to add a bit more relief because the neck was a bit TOO flat for me but this may simply have been temperature related because the guitar traveled from sunny California to damn near arctic New York! Again, you might LIKE a ruler flat board. The fretwork on this guitar was as good as (if not better)than on my RM-2000. All the fret-ends were nicely finished and the frets were solidly seated and crowned. My only REAL criticism is the quality of the STRINGS they put on their guitars. They certainly don't come close to the quality of these guitars! With all the obvious care that goes into the other details, it's hard to understand why they'd throw cheap strings on. A simple set of good quality strings made a GREAT improvement in tone and I'd suggest that if you do check out these guitars, not to judge the sound or playability before you change the strings! Hopefully, the new models will come with better ones. Overall, I'm once again amazed at the quality of woods, hardware and finish for so little money!
Reliability/Durability
:10
I see no reason why this guitar wouldn't stand up to just about anything you could throw at it. It's very solidly built with really well designed BIG strap buttons. I wouldn't worry for a second about gigging with it even without a back up. I don't think their "lifetime limited warranty" is a sales gimmick. I think these guys know how well they've built these guitars and are confident that there'll be very few who'll ever need to use it.
