Early Reverend "budget" model with single ply white pickguard and no tone control. Serial number #00103, so it probably dates from early 1998. Great Reverend retro design and high quality build with a great sounding pair of Kent Armstrong pickups - Strat single coil neck pickup and humbucker in the bridge. 100% original and it's staying that way!

Very versatile sound considering how limited the two pickup, no tone control set up could be. The 3 switch setting are all very well-voiced and all retain the unique airy tone of a Reverend. Airy does not = wimpy! The tone is like a gutsy Thinline Tele.
A tone control would obviously add to the versatility but the Black Cat's set up give syou 3 very usable tones.

I'm biased. I think Reverend has the best neck profile and build quality of any non-Custom Shop guitar. This one was bought used but plays great. The nut and fret-work in particular are excellent.

Some people are sceptical about the phenolic constuction but I've played Reverends (various guitars and a Rumblefish bass)for 4 years without a single problem.

Never had to call them on a support issue but their reputation is second to none.

I paid a premium to get this rare early Reverend and am very happy that I did. Great, all original guitar and teardrop case, plus strap and sticker!
