OK, I don't usually write a review but I feel compelled to with this guitar. I have a Fender Telecaster with UK bare knuckle pups and an American standard Strat, I have a few more but to the point. I was looking for a sound somewhere in between and i looked for a Heritage with no luck and then up came The Reverend Series on Google. As everyone has said, I am afraid to take it to my guitar tech as he may wreck the perfect sound out of the box! The mini HB's are fantastic and the solid top and neck are just bang on.

Sound : 10
I listened to the a/v clips on utube for each guitar and i was blown away. I called my favorite music store, asked if they sold them and they said YES! The had the one I was looking for an orange retro look reverend club rt.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The pickups and adjustment are perfect. I tried to put it out of tune and could not so I used it in a live gig the next day, right off the rack. The retro look on these guitars is superb. For $600 you have in my opinion a better sound than the new $1200 Gibson les pauls by miles. Not a flaw to be found except I am still looking because I cant believe it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has now taken over for my tele and strat. Sounds wierd but it is true. I also put a set of Shaller locks for the strap on right away. Would I use this on a gig with out a back up? Never, only reason is if I break a string I like to have another ready to go. Besides that I sure would.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The warranty is standard 1 year parts and labour.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing 30 years 20 of those were professional. If it were stolen I would cry and then find the person who took it and make them buy me the whole line of reverends. It is missing nothing. I would like to tell all the newbies out there just starting. DO NOT!!! buy a guitar for the name. Fender and Gibson are generally top notch but the new lower end stuff is garbage and you still pay well over a thousand for Gibson and the Fender line is about 2 or $300 for the squires.

This is a semi hollow Korina body with a solid spuce top, Rosewood fingerboard with Med Jombo frets whith dot position markers. Volume, Tone and a special Contour control that lets you shape the sound. Right out of the case this guitar was flawless with a beautiful Honey finish and an absolutly PERFECT set up with intonation dead-on! It has locking tuners that only require a small pair of wire cutters that turns a 30 minute job into one that lasts 10(if that).
P.S.Came with case

This is where this guitar really shines. Reverend uses Hot wound Rev-Tron pickups that put TV Jones to shame! This guitar will give you rockabilly, blues, country,Jazz and Swing without breaking a sweat sounds fantastic with distortion and the sound and build quality this guitar could easily sell for twicw the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Flawless...Frets dressed perfectly, action height...Perfect....No jaged edges and the rosewood neck is a deep, almost black...gorgeous. The honey finish is transparent and looks incrediblt. I am truly smitten by the look feel and sound...but most imprtantly...this guitar plays like butter

Reliability/Durability : 10
Solid woods...Great build quality..another 10

Where else can you call and talkto the guy who designed your guitar? Please try that with Fender, Gibson, Ibanez..hell...you'll be LUCKY to get an anwser to an email

Overall Rating : 10
THis guitar looks, sounds and plays like guitars that cost 3 and 4 times it's price. Tis is the finest semi-hollow you can own (IMHO) and is wothy of nothing less than a 10. I absolutely loved this guitar. I'm 41 and hav owned most everything out there from Gibson, Fender,Schecter,G&L,Godin,Ibanez and ESP and this is head and shoulders above anything. Just get yourself a nice small tube amp like a Traynor CVY20 with a greenack by celestion or even a stock Fender Blues Junior and you'll have the PERFECT combo. Tube amps bring out the true nature of well made guitars and Reverend makes some of the VERY BEST!! (IMHO)

This is a semi-hollow guitar with a very unique shape. Looks kinda like a bigger, rounder version of a tele. The bulk of the guitar is carved out of a solid block of mahogany, and it's capped with solid spruce. Made in Korea, but you wouldn't know it. Very nicely crafted. 22 frets, medium oval neck (kind of a 60's strat feel) with a nice, flat 12" radius, and a satin finish. Features 2 'Revtron' pickups, which are basically a mini-humbucker designed to be Reverends answer to the Filtertron.

Not sure of the year of manufacture, but the serial number starts with 06, and I bought it at the end of '07, so I'm guessing 2006. Other features include Wilkinson EZ Lok tuners (which I have replaced with Schaller locking tuners), 'Les Trem' Tremolo, and a bass contour knob.

Great features. I love the Les Trem bridge, very cool looking and functional. I hated the EZ Lok tuners because they were too hard to restring, but they funtioned perfectly well. The bass contour is a real standout feature, it gives this guitar so many different sounds.

Plus, it comes with a really decent hard case, which is a rarity at this price point.

Sound : 10
The tone of this guitar is unbelievable. I am predominantly a Strat player. I finally got my dream Strat (a modified Sunburst US Deluxe HSS), and got the Reverend as an extra tonal option, just to add some variety. The tone of the Club King is so good however, that my poor old Strat just sits on my guitar stand waiting for me to break a string! It is so rich and full, and extremely versatile.

The bass contour is fantastic. Basically it seems to roll off or add bass without affecting the higher frequencies. It can take you from a big, full, jazzy tone, to a thinner, more tele like sound. And of course, because it's a pot and not a switch, you can have everything in between. Tonally, I describe this guitar as somewhere between a Gretsch and a Tele. Visually it's that too!

It really shines doing chord work, that's it's specialty. Big full chords that cut through without being harsh. Great distorted or clean.

The pickups are fantastic. When I bought this I figured I could change the pickups to TV Jones' or something, but I won't be needing to do that. I couldn't imagine it sounding better than it does with the Revtrons!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Straight out of the box, the set-up was spot on. I raised the action a little to my preference, and that was about it. Well intonated, neck relief just right. No fret buzz, and just a really nice feel.

Mine is 'Rock Orange', and the finish is a little brighter than it appeared on the website pics. I prefer the slightly more faded look on the site, but hopefully it will fade a little over time.

This guitar feels hand built. You wouldn't believe it's Korean made, mind you, Korea isn't what it used to be. There are many fine guitars coming out of there these days.

The neck is a little too chunky for me, but that's a personal preference thing. I like slimmer necks, because I have quite small hands. The 12" radius kind of makes up for it a bit though, and it's quite playable. It's really not THAT chunky. Just a little more than I prefer. Like I said, kind of like a vintage Strat. I play it a lot without it really bothering me. It's great for chord stuff, just not your shredder neck. But, as I say, this is a personal preference thing (most people really like the Reverend neck), so I'm not going to mark it down for that.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I have only had it a few months, so I can't comment too much on reliability, but it seems very solid. I wonder if the spring in the trem will lose it's 'springiness' over time, and I wonder if one day I might break the spruce around the commar shaped 'f hole', but there's not really any basis for those thoughts. I'm gonna give no opinion here, because I really have no idea. But I haven't had any problems yet, and it seems like an extremely solid, well put together guitar, so I doubt I'm ever likely to.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't actually dealt with Reverend, but I got this from an online store in New Zealand called www.poolsidestudios.co.nz. Janek there was absolutely amazing. He sent me the guitar on approval (no money down) along with postage for return freight if I didn't like it. I loved it, but I was strapped for cash so I asked if I could pay it off over a month or too. No worries. Didn't even need to sign anything. The only thing wrong with the guitar when I got it was that I found a very small cut in one of the frets. Janek paid for the return shipping and got the fret fixed up perfectly by his tech. You'd never know there were any issues. There was also a slight split in the case that had occurred during shipping, so he gave me a new case.

I was blown away by the service I got from Poolside Studios. You don't get that kind of service in many stores these days. I would definitely buy from these guys again!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar seriously for about 17 years, and not so seriously for another 5 before that. I have owned several guitars, but I have also worked in 5 guitar stores, so I have played alot of gats! This is absolutely one of my favourites. The tone is so sweet and it's a joy to play. It's not as comfortable as a Strat, there's no body contour or anything, and it's a little heavier too, but the tone is so good that I'll overlook those things. As I say, I prefer slimmer necks, but after you've been playing it a while you forget about that.

I believe they're not doing the Les Trem option any more, which is a shame because it's a great little unit, although it's a little bit of a hassle to restring because you have to keep the ball ends flat with a toothpick.

If you're looking for something a little different, you should really check out www.reverendguitars.com. Their guitars are very original, yet they're not 'bizzarre'. They're 'different' without being 'wierd', and they look like instant classics. There's so many models and so many different tonal options. I was looking for a Grestch style guitar, but Gretsch's are not good value for money. My budget would have got me a chinese laminated electromatic or something. The Reverend seemed like better value, and it sure was. For the price, there's nothing else out there like this. I think they're around USD $600 at time of writing. A truely awesome buy.

Bolt on 25.5 inch scale with rosewood fretboard and 22 frets. 2 Revtron pickups. Tele style controls with "Bass Contour" control. Spruce top with carved mahogany semi hollow body. TOM with stop tailpiece. Sperzel tuners. Simple, basic and superbly done with a funky cool design. On top of everything it is fairly light weight at 7.5 lbs. It is better balanced on my shoulder then anything I have played.

Sound : 10
The Revtron pickups with the "Bass Contour" is seriously effective at making for a versatile guitar. The guitar can be used for Jazz, Blues, Country, Rockabilly etc. The pickups are quiet and very smooth and evenly balanced. The sustain is nothing short of spectacular. Overall sound of this axe holds its' own with anything I own or have played including vintage and reissue stuff from Gibson or Fender at a fraction of the price. The Club King RT flat out kills and is an astonishing bargain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Zack at Reverend should give lessons on guitar setup to all of the Yoyos at the Gibson Custom Shop. The setup is the very best I have encountered from a factory. I haven't adjusted a thing and it holds tune better than any axe I have ever played. Spectacular!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
The Reverend Club King RT is the best $600 guitar I have ever played. It is stable, beautifully finished and it appears to be very rugged as well. All hardware and overall assembly integrity is exceptional. This guitar gives me no qualms whatsoever.

Customer Support : 10
Prior to purchase I called Reverend a few times with many questions. The folks were very forthcoming and pleasant and knowledgable. They clearly enjoy the Company and their guitars.

Overall Rating : 10
The Reverend Club King RT a flatout bargain. I have been playing for 40 years. I own vintage Gibson and Fender that are too expensive to safely take to gigs. The Reverend holds its' own with all of those instruments and I don't have to worry about it. If all Reverend's are made and setup as well as mine then do yourself a favor and check one out. You won't be sorry.
