The Warhawk is a solid korina guitar with a glued on neck. The guitar has 3 P90 style pickups and a stop tail piece bridge. The neck has a rosewood fretboard with a solid grahite nut. Pickups are controled by a 5 way strat style pickup selecter, and are controled by 1 volume knob, 1 tone pot and what reverend calls a bass contour knob. The guitar arrived with and exellent fret job featuring medium jumbo frets that felt perfect with no adjustments needed. The tuners are wilkinson EZ lock tuners. The combination of the graphite nut and these tuners make for guitar that will not go out of tune. The center section of the guitars body is raised similar to a firebird. The finish is an AWSOME deep red with a polyester finish that would survive a nuclear war. I would say just having a guitar you already own refinished this way would run you $300.

Sound : 10
The tone this guitar produces a nice evenly balanced tone without being plugged in. This is usually the first thing I listen for when I try a solid body guitar because if it sounds thin or dead unplugged the pickups can't help it. When I plugged it in it produced a nice P90 tone in all 5 positions with all of the knobs maxed. The big difference between the reverend P90s and others I have tried is that the reverends P90s don't have nealy as much 60 cycle hum. This os a GOOD thing. Now add to the mix the bass contour control, by backing this knob down the guitar begins to take on a surprisingly authentic strat character. A very versatile axe!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As I said earlier the finish and fret job and setup in is absolutely top notch. I have owned well over 100 guitars from manufacturers like Fender, Gibson, PRS, Rickenbacker, Guild, Taylor,Breedlove, Guild, Ibanez,James Tyler, Don Grosh, Jerry Jones, Danelectro, you name it I probably owned it, and I have not seen a guitar that is made that much better than this at any price point. Bang for the buck factor is way off the charts guys!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I am confident this thing will hold up after I'm in my grave.

Customer Support : 10
The company is great people. They actually called me before they shipped and wanted to know how I like to have it set up, and what gauge strings I prefer. NOBODY has ever done that in the 40+ years I have been buying instruments.

Overall Rating : 10
If you're thinking about it, buy one.

I purchased my Reverend Warhawk II 390, with a Metallic Alpine finish, from John???s Music in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This is a well designed guitar with great chrome hardware, tune-o-matic bridge, stop tail piece and Wilkinson EZ lock tuners. The solid mahogany body with set neck (24 - 3/4??? Scale), 10-46 strings, raised center block on the body, 3 P-90 pickups - S/S/S, rosewood fingerboard and a very comfortable neck make this guitar a fine playing machine. One of the features that I enjoy about the neck is the easy access to the frets 14 thru 22. The neck is just so comfortable that I can play for an extended amount of time without my hands becoming so fatigued. The five way pickup selector switch, volume, tone, and the bass contour controls gives this guitar a lot of flexibility and tonal qualities.

I have never owned a guitar with P-90 pickups before so I was pleasantly surprised with the sound when I plugged it in at the music store and played it for the first time. I personally think the Warhawk II 390 is a very cool sounding guitar and I love the P-90 pickups but it???s difficult for me to describe how a guitar sounds. So I would encourage you to visit Reverend???s web site at www.reverendguitars.com and listen to the sound clips for their guitars with P-90 pickups. The other thing that pleasantly surprised me is the 60 cycle hum at studio volumes in positions 1, 3 and 5; on my Fender Blues Deluxe Tube Amps; were hardly noticeable. I play a little jazz, blues, country and rockabilly and this guitar covers all those genres very well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Two Words ??? Top Notch. The Metallic Alpine finish along with the chrome hardware and a black pick guard makes for a very sharp, cool and classy looking guitar. You could compare this guitar to one that cost a lot more, however, I only paid $598 which included a well padded TKL hard shell case; what a deal. The intonation, neck setup and action were right on the money. The graphite nut was cut and seated perfectly. Fret work was excellent with no sharp edges on either side of the rosewood fret board. And when I opened the control cavity the first thing I noticed was quality pots, a shielded selector switch and a very neat wiring job done by an experienced technician that took pride in their work. All thing being considered I believe this guitar is worthy of a 10 in this evaluation category.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems like a very solid guitar. I have been playing the Warhawk for several weeks now with no issues and really don???t expect any.

I have not had a need for customer support but I hear that Reverend provides great support for their products. However, I have called them and emailed them several time received a prompt responce.

I've been playing for about 17 years as a hobbyist and own 7 other guitars including a Fender Stratocaster Plus, Guild Blues Bird AAA top, Guild Starfire IV, Heritage H157, Peavey Reactor AX, Peavey Cropper Classic and a Schecter PT Custom. Reverend gives you a nice guitar for your money that???s a pleasure to play. I would recommend this guitar to anyone that is not turned off by Korean made guitars. So if you are looking for made in the USA and a well known name on the head stock this may not be for you. However, if you a looking for a well made instrument with great components, workmanship, sound and playability the Warhawk II 390 is certainly worthy of serious consideration. One final word; don???t assume that just because a guitar is made in the USA it will always be a quality instrument.

Reverend Warhawk II 390 with Les Trem Option and Case.

Great solid body guitar from Reverend. Solid mahogany body with set neck; raised center block on body; 3 smoking P-90s; rosewood fingerboard with a nice feeling neck (think along the lines of later SG type feel and dimension). Easy access electronics, five way PU selector, 1 vol, 1 tone, and the awesome "bass contour knob" - reminds me a lot of a varitone on steroids, smooth and functional. Wilkinson EZ lock tuners, this one has the Les Trem Option with the roller bridge and is finished in their Metallic Alpine. Shipped in smooth Reverend Case.

Sound : 10
I play through a host of amps including a Fuchs ODS 100 Modded Music Man HD120, Marshall Blues breaker, Yamaha 212, and have some Dean Markley RM series amps that I love (thanks BK Butler!) lately been running straight into the amps without effects to get the feel of the axe.

Sound is awesome - I've always loved the bite of P-90s with mahogany bodies (LP and SG Jr type sound) and in the bridge position you can definately duplicate that, as well as get the classic beefy strat-type single coil combos with the center and neck position P-90s. The five position switch provides all of the classic "quackyness" you'd expect from three single coils in their various combinations. The stand out however has to be the "Bass Contour Knob" which really broadens the sonic horizons of this axe. Amazing what you can do with this knob in conjunction with the tone settings. Again think of this more along the lines of a varitone without the set frequencies for each position - instead you get a very smooth run through the tone spectrum - much more than you get with a tone pot. It really is an amazing feature and provides the ability to take the standard personality of the guitar and move it in just about any direction you'd like. You can run from that great "big box" Gretsch type sound and feel to a nice sharp tele bite pretty easily - without question the most versatile guitar I own.

The Les Trem option is highly recommended, and of much better quality than I was expecting. Tension on the swing of the bar as well as the length are all adjustable, and the roller bridge keeps things nicely in tune while still maintaining intonation.

The Wilkinson "EZ Lock" tuners are a bit of a PIA to deal with, but they are solid machine heads overall if a bit convoluted to set up.

A note here - I was very scepticle about purchasing a guitar manufactured in Korea - I'm as jaded as the best of them - but this axe is the true exception to the rule, comparable to any US model I own and from a sound standpoint can hang in there with any of them.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The entire guitar is set up and tweaked by the folks at Reverend prior to shipping, in fact they contact you in advance to find out the string guage of preference and the action set-up you'd prefer.

The guitar arrived set and intoned perfecty - action was as nice as I could have wanted.

The Metallic Alpine finish is far nicer in person than it is in the photos, sweet, sleek and sexy as a '56 Golden Hawk Convertible. Really a top notch guitar all the way around. I had to look really hard to find any finish flaw and even then it was so minor it doesn't even bear mentioning.

Body contours are tastefull and the inverted headstock is a very cool touch as well, bold without being over top.

A beautiful eye catching renegade axe all the way around.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems solid as a rock - had it a month and no issues to date. The pick guard does tend to scratch a bit more than I would have expected but nothing too dramatic. One Wilkinson tuner is showing a tiny bit of chrome flake - others are fine so probably not an issue as a whole.

Customer Support : 10
The guys at reverend are great. When the guitar arrived the set screw for the tremolo arm had sheared (Reverend is not longer shipping the arm attached I understand so shouldn't be an issue moving forward) I called them and they shipped out a new set screw immediately. After I sheared the set screw again by cross threading it (doh!) Joe himself spent some time on the phone with me making sure I understood how to install the screw and sent out a second set the same day.

They really are awesome, can't say enough.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 30 years and have around 30 guitars including Gibson Les Pauls, Fender strats and teles, Several Albert Lee Sig models from Music Man, even a Thomas McNaught Phoenix - this guitar can hold its own with the lot, and in fact has become my new daily driver. A really great axe.

For the money this is the best bang for the buck going IMO bar none! Seriously don't let the offshore manufacturing put you off, this is as nice an axe if not better than any of my contemporary Kalamazoo products.

Screams and looks good doing it - doubt this is the last reverend I'll own.

This is a new set neck model from Reverend, who is know for making fine, resonant bolt on models. This guitar is completely solid body, with a slightly raised center section for resonance and sustain, 3 p90 pickups, five way switch, 24 3/4 scale instead of 25 1/2, 22 medium jumbo frets, nice metallic green color with black pickup covers and pickguard, and also black headstock (very cool and retro looking), wilkinson locking tuners, les trem tremelo system (a nicer bigsby), with roller bridge for smoother action, and also helps it to stay in tune. The body is solid mahogany, as well as the glued in neck, and the neck joint was designed to be very stable, according to the design engineers. Looks very beefy to me, but hasn't gotten in the way of playing high up the neck. It has volume, tone (which doesn't kill your sound when rolled back), and a bass contour knob, which allows you to revoice the pickups by adjusting out bass, but also makes the p90's sound a lot more like strat coils. I give it a ten, but if I could change something it would be to contour the back a little bit more, seeing how this is a solid body. They ship it in a gig bag or case, I got the bag, its really the best bag I've seen yet, very thick padding compared to their old ones, and everyone elses too, except maybe ones that cost 3 times the price.

Sound : 10
This guitar sounds like a strat on sterioids. I have one of Reverends amps which I use more than the others, the Kingsnake, and it sounds great through it. Very balanced, very warm on any setting and definitely NOT ice-picky. Every setting is usable, and very musical. Will do everything with the exception of metal, maybe you can use a pedal if you want that. I use minimal pedals, and generally get great sounds out of all my amps. So far I played some country, surf, blues, rock and jazz on it. The guitar quacks like a strat, but a little thicker, as described by Reverend, its an accurate description. Roll of the bass contour and you get very close to a strat. 24 3/4 scale gives it more warmth maybe than a 25 1/2 inch scale, not sure but its real sweet sounding.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I don't see anything asthetically that I don't like, a lot of attention to detail is what Reverend is known for and they stay true to it. The frets are highly polished, the action is very nice and low with like no buzzes. I am very impressed. I really don't want to put it down. I tuned it once a few hours ago and it won't go out of tune, even with the trem. The tuners seem good, wilkinsons, but like I said, I tuned it once a few hours ago so I haven't used them enough to say. I would give it an 11 here if I could.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Definitely a players guitar, and it won't cost you a small fortune so you don't have to be afraid to bring it out. Its definitely solid, seems built like a tank. I have other Reverends and they are all built to last.

Customer Support : 10
They always get a ten here, trust me. Call them up once and you'll know that too.

Been playing electric guitar seriously, or seriously trying for about 4 years now. Played acoustic for about 18 years now. I've had lots of crappy and cheap guitars. Some I actually like a lot, most not. I've played a lot of expensive ones that my friends own, and they just don't seem better than the vast majority of Reverends that I've bought and sold over the last 4 years. I like the fact there is a company that makes a good quality instument that you don't have to mortgage your house for. I'll be buying more stuff I'm sure.
