2002 Ric 370/12. Moonglow finish. Vintage toaster pickups, trapeze tail piece, 12 string bridge. Purchased used.

Sound : 10
I've been playing since 1963 and I've always wanted a Ric 12 String. I was a abig fan of the Beatles and Byrds. I love the jingle jangle sound the guitar produces.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar is well made and the finish is perfect. It's a little hard to get the neck adjusted. I've been using Pyramid strings, but may change to a modified smaller gauge to make it a little easier to play. I have thin fingers so the thin neck is not a problem.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I see no reason to doubt this guitar would withstand the rigors of gigging. The strap buttons were changed to Dunlop strap locks before I got the guitar. I feel a lot better having the strap locks. The hardware should hold up, with care. The finish is durable and should hold up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No issues or dealings with Rickenbacker.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing over 40 years. I also own a Gretsch Country Gentleman and a Fender American Strat. I play them all through a Fender Custom Vibrolux. The Ric sound really brings back memories from you youth. I would try to replace the Ric if it were lost or stolen if I could afford it.

Just received a Ricky 370/12, vintage pickups, montezuma burst. Excellent finish, had the brass 12 string bridge installed. Bought it from Ed Roman. Did not opt for the "vintage case", as this one will probably never leave my home studio. The other reviewers probably say enough about the features, so I won't go on.

Sound : 10
Sounds like the classic ricks of the 60's and 70's. Marvelous tone with a Line6 Pod Pro -> DBX 586 -> JoeMeek SC2.2 -> Lexicon MPX1 ->BBE 882. Yet is also wonderful just plugged into the Fender Deville 410 and Marshall. The tone is truly wonderful.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The finish is flawless, setup great. This truly is a legendary instrument.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Should last a lifetime.

Customer Support : 9
Never dealt with the company, yet do not expect problems.

Now for the dealer - Ed Roman was fine to work with. Discussed the guitar in detail with me and he was not difficult to work with. Frankly, I don't know why so many other people have posted such negative things about this man.

Overall Rating : 10
Simply, a Rick probably ought to be in any collectors arsenal. The 370/12 is a great instrument and rounds out my personal grouping of instruments nicely. I've got Nationals, Gibsons, a strat, Guild 12 (Rhode Island), Martin M36 and a few others in the studio. I just love the sound and feel of the Rickenbacker - Get one if you can!

I purchased my Ric 370-12 in March 2004 from North Coast Music. This is the guitar I wanted even back in the 1960/2 when I was playing bass guitar in a band. My guitar has the vintage pickups and case. I have not played any guitar since the late 1960's and just decided to play again. As far as features are concerned, it has everything I would ever need.

Sound : 10
I run my Ric through a 59 Fender Bassman reissue. I have always liked the chimey sound of a Ric and have never stopped listening to Byrds and Beatles music. I could not have asked for a better sound out of both my Ric and Bassman amp. Had a 12 saddle bridge installed shortly after receiving the guitar. There is just something real special about this guitar. It's not for every type of music but I can start working on my wife to buy me a Gretsch Tennesee Rose. She bought me the Ric also.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I actually like the narrow neck on this guitar. have not played other guitars in almost 35 years so there is no adjustment for me to make. It is unforgiving when playing chords but once you get used to the neck, it is quite easy to play. The finish on the guitar is impecable - like a piece of fine furniture. Even people who don't know squat about guitars have siad it is absolutely stunning.

Reliability/Durability : 3
Who knows. I jhave had it just under two months. I don't play in a band so it does not have to take any abuse. May end up playing in our church's contemporary Christian group.

Haven't needed any.

This guitar is a dream come true. Thank God I am an exec in his fifties and the proice of musical instruments is very inexpensive compared to when I was a kid. It's nice to be able to buy anything you want and not have price be a factor. I would have paid twice the price and still would have been happy. I occaisonally visit the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in our hometown of Cleveland, Ohio and always would admire the McGuinn Rickenbacker guitars. Ialways wanted one and now I have one. Just an incredible sound that a piece of history.

2000 model, mapleglo, with three hi-gain "new-style" pickups. Two volume and two tone controls, plus a fifth "blender" knob, which let you mix the sounds up. Also has a stereo input, which I never use. Enough features to get the job done. The pickup selector lets you choose between the bridge, all 3, or the neck and middle pickups. Came with hardshell case and Ric cleaning cloth.

Sound : 10
This guitar is very versatile. I can get the Beatles/Byrds sound easily, although not to perfection, using all 3 or just the bridge pickup. Using the bass and middle pickups, you get a very mellow bassy sound. I think this would be the perfect setting for a rhythm part. It's very dark, but not too muddy sounding. I like this guitar, but I think the vintage "toaster" pickups would probably be a better choice. From what I've heard they have a lower output and therefore, make the classic jangle that the 60's rics were famous for. Unfortunately, you'd have to buy a vintage ric, a C-series or a 660/12 to get them. These are pretty darn close, though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The other ric finishes are pretty, but in my opinion, the mapleglo (natural) color is the most beautiful of them all. You can see every detail of the woodgrain, not to mention it's a lot easier to maintain and clean. I had a jetglo 330 ric, and all I did was polish it, because it showed every little smudge and fingerprint. The binding is awesome, both on the body and the fingerboard. No visible flaws, except maybe a few leftover wood shavings in the headstock. The controls are all tight and function well. No loose knobs or scratchy pickup selectors, here. The action is fairly low, compared to a lot of 12-strings. My only complaint is that the neck is too slim. I think if I had more to hold on to, I could play it better. Then again, this is a hard guitar to play. I've read where even Roger McGuinn had trouble with it, at first.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have no question about this guitars reliability. It is the most well-built instrument I have ever owned. I think the hardware and finish will stand up to years of playing, as will the electronics. I would probably take a 6-string along as a backup, just because not every song is meant to be played on a 12-string. The only part I'm not looking forward to, is changing the strings. I'm going to buy the Roger McGuinn instructional video for some pointers on that. (as well as for how to play the darn thing)

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've heard good and bad. I guess it just depends on who you talk to on the other end of the line.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 17 years now. I've owned many guitars, but right now I play this one and a Gibson Les Paul Special SL, MIM Fender Tele, Danelectro Baritone, Yamaha APX4A acoustic/electric, Martin D-15, Fender American P-bass and a Rogue Violin bass. The only thing I wish this guitar had: vintage pickups. Everything else is fine, though. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who loves the classic 12-string sound of the 60's.

2001 Rickenbacker 370/12 string. American made. 3 high gain pickups. I had to install a 12 saddle bride for yikes an extra $80. The six saddle bridges are crap. You will want to replace it.

Sound : 10
Sound is unbelievable. I had a 330/12 before this and it smokes it. This thing with three pickups almost has the output of my Gibson Les Paul Junior P-90 pickup. This thing really chimes! I bought it for the high end you can really get out of it. I run it though 2 Vox AC-30's and could never be happier. I am experimenting with different compressors right now with the 370/12 and have not found anything that I am happy with.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is as good as any of my other six strings if not better. The fret spacing gets a little tight below the 5th fret. Something you have to get used to.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Here is where this thing really comes through. I play a lot of gigs and this guitar is in tune always right out of the case and stays intonated all the time unlike my 330/12. If you are playing profesionally and need a 12 string this is the way to go. The downside to this guitar is that they are a little harder to find so you must be patient to get the right price and color.

Customer Support : 10
I have called Rickenabacker several times for parts and they really knew their stuff.

Overall Rating : 10
I have about half a dozen Rickenbackers and this is one of my favorites. Some of the other Ricks feel like "plastic." This one feels solid.
