This is my second guitar that Ron has built for me and will probably not be the last. It's basically a thinline tele with 2 F-holes and 3 Jason Lollar P-90 pickups. Ron has a picture of it on his website under the heading of esoteric guitars. You really can't miss it as it is so very distintive. The guitar was built to my exact specs as a copy of the guitar used by Little Charlie Baty of Little Charlie and the Nightcats fame. Ron absolutely nailed this one.

Sound : 10
Sound is of course very subjective. Bottom line here though is that the guitar sounds phenomenal. I have all the typical sounds of a standard strat setup with the addition of the neck and bridge together without the middle pickup. Ron also put a push-pull switch on the tone pot to give an out of phase sound when the middle pickup is used to get that T-Bone Walker sound. The wiring is nearly identical to an old Gibson ES-5 archtop.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Ron will not ship out a guitar until it literally plays like butter. He is known for his fit and finish and incredible attention to detail. Anyone who has ever played one of his guitars knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Ron builds a quality instrument with quality parts. There is no room for cheap parts that will eventually fail and give unsatisfactory results. He has the experience to know what part is best for any given guitar function.

Customer Support : 10
Customer satisfaction is simply the best I have ever had. I've been playing since 1963 and over the last 20 or so years have had other guitars custom built for me. I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes for a response to an email question or comment submitted to Ron. I think his computer is actually in his workshop. There's a very good reason why his marks are so high here on HC.

Overall Rating : 10
If anyone is fortunate enough to obtain or have custom built a guitar by Ron you will not be disappointed. Imagine having a guitar that is built by a Masterbuilder who is very conscientious about doing the absolute best he can. I've had guitars built by Custom Shop masterbuilders and had to wait up to 1 1/2 years and then been less than thrilled with the results. Ron's prices are reasonable and the end result is an instrument that is worth keeping for a lifetime. My guitar was finished in about 6 weeks from when I first contacted Ron. There is a wealth of information on his website about nitro finishes and other issues relating to guitar building. If anyone has any questions about Ron or my guitars please feel free to contact me via email. Bottom line, he is simply the best that I've ever dealt with in a custom built guitar.
