After thinking about it for quite some time I finally pulled the trigger on a custom made guitar. I thought about a Fender Custom shop but finally settled on a Ron Kirn Signature. By going this route the guitar is truly customized to me.

I ordered a 3 tone sunburst Swamp ash body bound in white. It has a white 3 ply pickguard. Gotoh tuners and a 6 saddle bridge. The neck is a maple modern c with a rosewood fretboard, 9.5 inch radius with vintage frets. There is a five way switch with a Seymour Duncan Antiquity in the neck and a Seymour Duncan Little 59 in the bridge.

Sound : 9
I like to play a lot of classic rock and this guitar suits my needs just fine. The Antiquity in the neck is a nice mellow humbucker for rhythm playing while the little 59 is a screamer.

I use a 1961 Gibson Discoverer (9 watts) through a Vox 2 x 12 cabinet loaded with made in England Celestion Greenbacks. I use a little big muff and a vox wah.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The set up of a Ron Kirn custom is far better than any set up you will find on any off the shelf guitar and quite frankly better than what you will find at the Fender and Gibson custom shops.

The hand burnished neck is smooth and silky and the nitro finish is the real deal.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Hey it's a telecaster it will take a licking and keep on ticking.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had a problem with this guitar however Ron has mentioned if I didn't like something after I received it just send it back and he would take care of it.

Overall Rating : 10
Some would argue this is not a telecaster and they would have a good point. I guess that is the point of having a custom made guitar. Unlike the Fender or Gibson custom shops this guitar was made to my exact specs by one luthier.

It is by far the best guitar I have ever played period!!!!

With custom shop guitars by Fender and Gibson costing up to $6,000 this guitar is a much better value at half the cost.
