Hollowbody 335 style. Gold hardware. Humbuckers. Maple top Mahagany neck. Natural Finish.

Sound : No Opinion

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Ok I bought this as an addition to my Teles and Strats. I had owned an Epiphone 335 and sold it very shortly after buying it. It played OK but the sound was muddy and VERY average. I still wanted that 335 sound for recording so I sent away to Rondo for what I hoped would be a guitar to use once in a while. WRONG. I cant belive it but I LOVE THIS AXE! It sounds way better than The Epi. Yes it has flaws such as a chip out of the nut, a bogus pickguard and the finigh from the nuck running into the body a bit but who cares. I paid 200 bucks for it new and its not only beautiful but kicks ass! The humbuckers have a great sound through my Peavey Delta Blues tube amp. WIth some tweaking as time goes by it will be perfect. Shes my number one now.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm sure that it will hold up to gigging but one should always have both a backup axe and amp. The hardwares gold plating will I'm sure fade but then agin who cares. It was 200 bucks remember? Sucker sustains great and feels like a piece of furniture.

DOnt know about customer support but you only hear good things about RONDO MUSIC.

Overall Rating : 9
Ive been playing and gigging for 30 years. To much equipment to list. If it was stolen I would call Rondo for another one before I called the cops. The only reason its not a 10 is for the minor stuff I listed but really you should expect that for the price. I will say that It kicks Epiphones 335s butt

Left-handed 355-style guitar made in China. Gold on black--beautiful. The "pickguard" seems to be made of the same material a refrigerator magnets--thin and pliable. Kinda creepy and hard to keep screwed down tight.

Gold ABR style stop-bar tailpiece
Truss rod adjustable Mahogany set neck with 22 jumbo frets

D'Addario strings
All gold hardware

This is my second SX guitar (first being a lefty GG1 JR). Purchased for utility AND sound. They have very strong pickups. This guitar can hold its own again Epiphones costing more. I am a blues player and this guitar is a nice addition to my "Oh crap, we're playing a rowdy bar again" collection. Sounds are similar to Epiphones and Gibsons of similar styles. Probably not quite as loud as a "real" 335, but gets the job done. I used tube amps exclusively: Fender Blues Delux or Blues Junior. No more noisey than its Chinese kinfolk. Sounds much like the guitar it's meant to be--a mono, non-varitone 335/345/355.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Er, well here's the rub. Out of the box, I noticed a little scuff on the back--black shows EVERYTHING. Further inspection revealed a bit of brown showing through the headstock near the binding, and a another little scuff near the tuner. No biggy--it's a bar guitar. However, after a couple months, I noticed that the neck was bowed. My other SX has been adjusted for the weather several times and seems to take a tweaking pretty well. Not this guy. It sits now with ALL the tension off the truss rod; playable, but with more bow than I like in the neck. This is a deal killer for me. One of my justifications for the guitar was that it looked like a B.B. King model (unavailable to we lefties). BUT I bought it to play not look at. As I said, it's still in the zone of playabilty, but if the neck moves anymore it's a slide guitar or junker. Made up my mind, no more SX guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I have used this SX only in rehearsal situations. Would I take it out? Yes. Would I take it out by itself--NO. But I never take only one guitar. It seesm pretty durable and I can't keep gold looking good on anything, so I'm not worried about the hardware. If and when the neck settles in, I'll be more confident about taking it out of the barn and into the blues clubs.

I have been playing for 35 years, off and on. I have burned through a lot of guitars in that time, but have held onto the keepers over the years. I am mainly a Strat/Tele guy, but feel I should have at least one 335-style guitar (I have several). I have owned a couple 335s, a couple Epi semi-hollows, and now this "chance" SX. If it were lost or stolen I wouldn't replace it--I'd upgrade to a Heritage or Gibson. It's fine bar guitar in need of a new truss rod. Unlike other players who buy cheap and then upgrade, to me once you slap another $250 into guitar that you spent $250 for then that $500 is near (in my mind) the halfway point to an American-built guitar that will make you happier. So, with all the foibles I encounter with import guitars, I REFUSE to put more money into them (that I'll never get back). SX guitars are what they are: cheaply made replicas of real guitars. Their purpose is to fill the void of $100-$300 guitars for students and guys like me looking for a bandaround, or something I don't have, or something to "modfiy." My other SX seems up to the task, so I'm not really dissing this stuff--just BE CAREFUL. What do you get for guitars in this price range? A chance to take a chance.

I assume a 2007. Natural finish with a dark colored neck - mahogany? Maple top. Nice rich color. 2 volume, 2 tone, 3 way switch. ES335 type machine. Gold hardware. Tune-O-Matic bridge. SX tuners - Schaller-like. Enormous jumbo frets. Came with a case from the seller on eBay.

Sound : 9
I play classic rock inspired pop rock. Big Star, Cheap Trick-styled rock with a side of Zeppelin and a dash of Beatles. Mainly played live thru a Carr Hammerhead Mk II, Blackheart Little Giant. I have a Line 6 POD or two for studio stuff as well. The guitar is rich, rich rich, rich sounding - think Rich Robinson - mmmmmmm - sweet! Enough high end to cut through but some thick bottom too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Set up nicely. Since it was 2nd hand I can't comment on a factory set up but I have owned several SX's and Agiles and they always arrive in good shape and easy to adjust. Did I say the frets on this thang are amazing? Can't believe it's Chinese.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Solid as a rock. Feels like a much more expensive guitar. Heavy like a '70's 335. I would never play live without a backup. I frequently go out with 4 to 6 guitars and a couple amps. Learned my lesson.

Customer Support : 10
Rondo always comes thru. Great bunch of guys.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since I was a young whipper. Since 1976. I have too much gear to list hear. Over a dozen guitars, basses, a couple drum kits, keyboards akimbo, pro studio owner, yadayada.

I love everything about this guitar for the price. I nay have to replace the tuners but it holds tune real well.

I'd like to kit it out with a trapeze tailpiece.

Rock onward and upward.

It is a o8 model, SX GG6 Custom with 1 11/16" nut, great for my fat finger tips. 3 way switch, 2 volume, 2 tone. Very nice appearance and the neck is a dream to play. After I played the stock pickups a little I did replace them and that was just my own decision and not a fault in the rondo equiptment. I got a very nice case with it and they did a great job of shipping.

Sound : 10
The stock humbuckes were pretty cool but I had already purchased GFS Nashville Retro pickups and now it has a full sound of great body and can give some very good blues, country, classic rock sounds that I love to hear.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It was a very decent setup when it arrived. The strings were showing some fade and I had already decided that would put Gibson Nickle Humbucker strings on it. The finish has a few minor blemishes, tiny and not really anything much, the pick guard could have fit a little better with a touch more trimming.

Reliability/Durability : 9
So far it holds tune very well, and I have given it a good work out. I'm sure it could be gigged without any worry. I'm not a professional player and just enjoy playing as a hobby. It is a nice solid feeling when played and gold hardware is nice.

Customer Support : 7
I'm not sure about the warranty, I guess that since I replaced the pickups myself the warranty doesn't matter now.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing about 3 years now. If this was stolen I would want another just like it.It has a great neck and feels so smoooth when being played. It isn't a distortion guitar, I'm not into distortion that much anyway. I tried several Epi Dots, and even checked out a Ibanez HollowBody. This guitar looks and feels great, and the sound is excellent.

I'm a beginner in guitar playing. I lean toward blues, funk, R&B, and a little rock. With a 3-way switch and 2 volume/tone controls, the sound can be adjusted (bright, full, rich, etc.). I'm actually using a Crate BT15 bass amp (bought a bass, too!) and it brings out the fuller tone slightly better than with a regular amp. A seasoned vet may find little if any problems with the sound in general. With some upgrades, you could maybe fool some people into thinking this is a rather expensive tool. Decent!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I had to tune it right out of the box, but it seems to stay in tune afterwards. I can find no flaws in the model I purchased. A seasoned vet may find subtle problems as this IS a budget axe. Others may follow the usual routine of "changing the strings" upon arrival. LOL

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Again, I'm a beginner in the guitar world. It looks solid enough to withstand time, but not sure on the gigging part. I don't plan on gigging anyway! I'd have a backup just in case (this goes for any guitar). If tuned properly and in the right hands it will sound like any other semi and last about as long.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed customer support, so no comment.

Not new to instruments in general, but a beginner at electric and bass guitars. I own a Douglas Violin Bass, an older Bundy trombone, and a basic Yamaha keyboard. If it were lost or stolen, I'd consider getting another one, especially for the price. I chose this guitar mainly for the looks, price, and general build. Having read reviews on other products from Rondo, I took a chance and was not disappointed.
