basically a les paul junior copy (!). Natural finish with P-90's. 22 Jumbo frets, 2 tone/2 volume, solid mahogany body, set neck, dot inlays and set neck. Not sure where its made, but the fella said he imported it from the U.S
Bought it for the pickups, havent had them and this was a cheap way to get them.

i (try to) play progressive rock, alot of dream theater andchallenging stuff. only played it through a little prac amp yet, but used a marshall jackhammer, a REALLY old Denio overdrive, a shitty Berhinger delay, and a dunlop wah. little bit of noise, but it would be my gear. wicked rock sound, i imagine thats the pickups at work. If this cheap piece can give this sound, cant wait to get them in a maton or gibson or something. Thinner than a humbucker, without being shit. i like it.

2nd hand, set up was really good. low action made this thing HOOK. neck is fucking cool. the pickup routing on mine seems fine, but with a cheap guitar that is a risk you take. electronics seem ok, frts are all in place, the fella said he fixed a couple of them tho. Ill change the tuning pegs, they seem a little flimsy. might re-wire it too, just to be safe.

this will stand up live for sure. finish is think as a dick.
Put some straplocks on it, i put them on everything cause they never wear out. bloody solid guitar. been using it as a cricket bat all arvo
Id gig without a backup, only problem would be strings snapping.

Got a degree in music, been playing for about 10 years. got this, a modified epi les paul, an old Jackson professional, and a maton mastersound as well as my classical. If i could find anotherone for the price id get it. good chunk of wood. cant really compare it, havent had these pickups before but i will say that in my opinion its a hot guitar. eventually it'll go through a JCM800, cant wait.If you find one cheap, get it.

Most have said the pick ups are crap. This is a p90 guitar they sound just like they should. I bought it to use in the studio for the p90 sound. It works fine & an added surprize was it sound pretty good live. The drummer says he likes the sound better than my Strat.

This is were it gits tricky. You should expect a set up on a 100.00 guitar. Finish is great, pickup rout is very bad, i evened up the corners with my router. Tuners are junk, electronics are junk, hardware is good. Nut is cheap plastic. Neck set is perfect, fretts are very good i had to file a couple but no big deal.

Never gig without a back up.

Here's my take on it... I needed a p90 gtr to use in the studio i paid 120.00 then upgraded the tuners (30.00) the electronics (40.00),
so for 190.00 you cant beat it with a sore dick. If i could have found a epi, dillon, gibson (Ha!) in this price range i would have bought one but, rondo said if i didn't like it i could send it back.
The t.v. yellow is more banana but people seem to like it. It nails the p90 sound & for that I'm happy.

I tried this guitar because it was so inexpensive and i wanted to check out p90 pickups. I think the pickups are the weak point of the guitar.
They have alot of output but are pretty muddy...not very clear at all.
I think its back to humbuckers for me.
I played through my amp sound was really bland. Through my digitech pedal to basey for me. With overdrive way to muddy.

The guitar is attractive with a nice mahogony tarns finish. No flaws. Nicely done set neck.
Pick ups were pretty cheap and not easy to adjust.
I just sold an SX les paul copy with humbuckers and the pick ups were preyty good on it.

SX LP JR $169.00 plus $22 shipping. Bought mine on Ebay from the dude that sells these things for a living [Kurtzenweiler or something]. Made in 2002 in China [labeled] and has 22 jumbo frets [stoned nicely for the most part]. Has a Solid Top with 2 P90 pickups, 1 vol 1 tone per PU [including Passive electronics and standard wiring for each]. No idea where PU's were made but I replaced them asap because I'm not a big P90 fan. Body feels heavy like maple. Mine is a nice dark wood grain finish [Bob Marley style] and the pickguard and hardware is black plastic as well as the nice black speed knobs. Bridge is Tune-o-matic type and is nice and smoothly finished. Finish on everything else is great except where the rosewood fingerboard stops at the body, the finish between there and the neck PU isn't. That is to say the assembler kinda overlooked this region and the stain didn't make it to this part of the instrument. It's unsightly if you look at it hard enough. I can't see it anymore because I have Humbuckers in there now and the hardware is kinda shoved up against the fingerboard.
Tuners are Nice Locking type. Neck Is Set I repeat Neck is SET!!! And set nicely too. THis thing has great, did I say great? I meant GREAT sustain.

It's built exactly how a Gibson LP JR should be, It's just not exactly finished out of the box, WHICH IS OKAY!! I'm not a stranger to a little work. I very much like to work on my instruments when they call for tweaking... There are no problems wiring-wise. Very rich full sound unplugged or plugged. There was one fret that I had to knock down a bit from being set too high. It made a buzz around the 5th fret. I ended up tapping about 4 frets to get everything properly resonating. I'm experienced at this so I wasn't really bothered having to do it. Y'KNOW REALLY this is a great axe for hands on guiar players that aren't afraid of a little work. LUTHIER students or Wannabees as well because there's an opportunity to finish about every facet of the instrument. As you will see below I had more things to tweak, and more pure satisfaction upon completion.

This thing has all the right stuff, but out of the box I did have to roll up my sleeve and work on it a bit.
First thing I noticed was the action. The Neck had a concave slope so I loosened the strings and tightened the truss rod up til I got a slight convex bend. I Restrung it, reset the string height, tuned the bridge [it was pretty close but not DEAD ON INTONATION] and it played great after that. I mean - it plays as good now as any LP JR I've ever laid hands on and I'm Semi-pro for some 30 years and this instrument is an illustration of why big name companies can charge so much for thier instruments, they must spend at least the time I spent setting this thing up on every single guitar. I can see how that would slow production down. Better for these small companies like Galveston and SX to put good equipment and hardware on the instruments they make and move more product out the door so that you and I can finish their jobs. HEY, I'm glad to do it for this payoff.

Why else set it up to play great unless I'm gonna take it out on the gig? Built to last, this axe has served me well in rehearsal and live. I have managed to nick the finish in a few spots, but I attribute that to my own carelessness. Strap Buttons are Solid and placed well. This is a dependable instrument that i can play with confidence. I never play a gig without a backup so I can't say I'd feel good using it without a backup, but that's just experience talking..
