"floyd rose" superstrat style, got it in red. The red finish is actually quite a bit darker than in the picture, I was going to do a swirl paint job on it but I am having second thoughts now that I've actually seen it. Bought it for the wood with the intention of replacing most everything else. It has an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. The tuners suck, but I don't care because the nut locks.
Sound

I try to be able to play every style of music so I can jam when someone comes around that plays different styles. The guitar is pretty bright sounding stock, I would say the pickups sound directed more in the dimarzio ceramic type sound but obviously not near as good, just that bright ceramic pickup sound. I prefer alnico but planned on upgrading them so oh well. I didn't notice too much noise stock, but I shielded it anyways. I'm still giving it a 10 because I'm basing it on the price range and the wood is superior to other guitars in this range and sounds pretty good unplugged for a cheap guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The factory setup was actually pretty good, kind of high action but the floyd stayed in tune then. I found out that the action was a little high due to the neck needing a shim, I put in 2 pieces of a paper plate and adjusted the bridge. I set it up for extremely low action since when i adjusted the floyd it started sticking in a spot when I pushed the bar down and i have to pull it up to get it to go back, but when it goes back it goes back to pitch, I just took the bar off because I plan on putting my original floyd on it when I get some posts for it. From what I understand I'm lucky in this area and you shouldn't buy without the intention of setting them up or paying someone to, these are best for project guitars

The floyd rose on this was kind of a bummer because I thought I'd just be able to slap my original in. It fits in without problems but the posts are the exact opposite, meaning the knife edge was on the bridge instead of the post. Also this is the fastloading type, not a speedloader but the type that they used to use on old kramers where the ball end stays on and slips through where the screws to lock at the bridge should be on an original floyd. The frets were surprisingly good compared to what I read though because I managed to get an action so low that my girlfriend who doesn't play could easily just touch a note anywhere on the board and get a sound without trouble, though you cant possibly set up a floyd like this and use it without buzz because it pulls the strings down to the frets but since the whammy bar doesn't work it is fine there for now. I would never play a guitar live without a backup again no matter how good it was, but I think its reliable enough to gig with.

This is the first guitar I bought from rondo music, but I have emailed them with questions about 5 times and they were always answered quick and sufficiently(times ranging from like 20 minutes to about 4 or 5 hours when I emailed during the day). It was also shipped Monday and I ordered it over the weekend. I'll definitely get more guitars from there in the future.

I've been playing about 12 years probably, and I've played damn near every guitar on the market by the well known brand names. I have owned a lot of gear but most of my guitar stuff has went into my digital piano, bass, and drums. I own a vox brian may recording amp that I use as a treble boost for a epiphone valve jr, and a washburn d-20 but have owned much more expensive equipment. I would definitely buy another if it was stolen. I do wish the floyd was a little more standard but oh well. Wish it had more room in the electronics cavity, but I'll just enlarge it myself so I can go crazy with the wiring. I'm giving it a 9 because theres not much better in this range if you know how to work on it.

Chinese made, 24 frets, 1 volume and 1 tone control, H/S/H pickup configuration, don't know what kind of wood it's made out of, nice shiny jet black finish, Strat body style, licsensed Floyd Rose bridge, very nice tuners, not sure what brand, bound neck with a rosewood fretboard, came with 4 different size Allen wrenches and an extra Floyd Rose spring. Gets a 10 for all that for $145 shipped to my door in 2 days!!!

I was a metalhead when I played guitar in elementary through high school (switched to keys at 20, I'm now 27). I got it just as a toy to wail out some stuff while I take a break from keys for a few minutes here and there, so all this is compared to what I remember 7 years ago...for metal lead, it's fantastic sounding, for metal rythym, it's decent with the right "processing" (amps, effects, etc.) although some times palm on the low strings palm muting gets a bid muddy, as do open power chords in the first few positions. I currently run it through the IFX on my Triton Rack unit, I also run it through some free software, all into headphones, and it sounds like the Ibanez's and Jacksons I used to fantasize about being able to buy as a kid. The single coil in the middle can break out some nice Strat (SRV, Hendrix) tones, again, with the right "processing". It is very noisy, but it's nothing a noise gate can't fix.

From the factory, absolutely terrible. If you know what you're doing, though, after an hour of doing all kinds of things to it, you can get it pretty decent. Like I mentioned earlier it's been a while for me, but after about an hour I had it pretty much how I wanted it. If you have no idea how to set up guitars, especially with Floyd Roses, factor in the cost of bringing it to someone who does when considering this. Again, it comes from the factory terribly set up, but with a little work you can make the factory 3 rating an 8 or a 9!!!!!

Have only had it two days but based on my experience this thing seems like it will last a while and take a fair amount of abuse. I did notice when looking at the wiring that it wasn't really soldered all that well, so some time in the future the wiring on one of the pickups or pots may need to be resoldered, but other than that, it seems like a trooper.

I've gotta say, for $145 at my door in 2 days this was an absolute steal. I've been out of the game for 7 years, so I'm basing all my thoughts and comparisons to what I knew then and what little I've kept up with, but I do know that I would've KILLED for this back when I was a kid and broke and wanted a decent rock/shred guitar with a Floyd Rose!!!! My advice is that if budget is a concern seriously give this guitar a thought, and if you don't know how to set up a guitar factor in the cost of having it set up by someone who knows what they're doing. With that and a decent amp and a decent effects processor you should be very happy with this axe, given its price.

For a 130 dollar guitar the features are outstanding minus the pickups. The floyd rose works the body and neck look and feel nice. Jumbo frets are easy to play and 24 frets are good for solos. Diaddrio strings or however you spell it are nice also stays in tune perfectly, i tune it less than once a month.

Humbucker shuns the single coil a little bit but not too bad, but its noticeable. I play rock green dayish stuff and a lot of nirvana. It fits it well. The tone could definitely be better i must say, its hard to get a tone you want for me for some reason i have a 15 watt or sumthin close to that cant remeber but its a fender amp. maybe its the amp.

action is low and my 1rst string buzzes terribly until you play like on the 6th fret and thats annoying but a quick fix if youre good at guitar tech. everything else works fine though

I think its a good guitar for a beginner-intermediate level player. Once you use different effect pedals it starts to sound better. i love its looks love the dual octave fret board and it stays in tune beter than my teachers les paul classic and this is no lie. Its not an amazing guitar but it is an amazing value for what i paid

of all the sx guitars i have bought this is the worst, not the same
quality as the others , i buy sx guitars as projects knowing they will
need hardware and work , they are worth the price for the neck and body
alone, this one feels cheap, with work became a good player not great

Similar to Andrew De Silva's except color = gloss black, instead of locking tuners, it is a locking nut (tuners have SX stamped on the bcak). The licensed Floyd Rose is a speed loader, the balls do not have to be cut off the strings, the strings thread through the ends of the knobs you use to move the saddles for intonation.
Nice chunky neck and the frets are jumbo. The all black hardware and nice gloss finish make this a nice looking guitar!

I play blues, contemporary gospel, and a little jazz. I use a solid-state 30 watt Marshall combo amp. So understand my ratings are without distortion, which I don't use. Make no mistake, this is a superstrat designed primarily for rock. Out of the box it is loud and bright but full. The open humbuckers are HOT, but you can roll off the volume a little and get a little less edge out of them. The tone control rolls off the treble very smoothly, NICE! However, I installed a push-pull pot switch that taps the humbuckers which gives this guitar way more flexibility! In single coil mode it gives nice bright standard strat-like sounds.
It is a little brighter than I would like so I installed some black coated strings which mellowed it just about enough for me. This is merely a nit however, as I could easily roll the treble off a little with the smooth tone control.
The only noticeable noise I get is in single pickup single coil mode. HBs are quiet and all combined settings (even in single coil mode) are fairly quiet).

One major complaint about the factory setup. The neck had a negative angle (angled down into the guitar from neck to 24th fret). I pulled the neck off, installed a shim (the neck pocket is not well finished) and had to completely reset up the guitar. NOW it's like I think it should be!
Interesting point, in this process I pulled the middle pickup up a bit in an attempt to get a better balance between it and the HBs, because, the HBs are SO HOT that they were louder than the middle pup even when they are in TAPPED mode!! They are still louder, just less so.
The 6 is only because the neck was not correctly shimmed, everything else was reasonable, including action, out of the box.

The metal used in the licensed Floyd is clearly not hardened, and the tuners aren't the smoothest, but they work and once locked everything seems solid. I bought this guitar to be a flexible backup and I have no doubt that it will serve its purpose.

Rondo has the best customer support of any company I've ever dealt with. On this guitar, I only needed an answer to a question about the neck, and they (Kurt) responded quickly.
I have used customer service on other guitars and in every case they met or exceeded my expections

Come on where can you get a Floyd Superstrat for $130? 'Nuff said.
I've been playing off and on for (ahem) 34 years.
I love this guitar! I bought it as a backup, but after I got the neck problem straightened out and tapped the pickups, even my son noticed that I was playing it more than the guitars it was supposed to be backing up!
If it was lost of stolen, I would be buying another just like it before even waiting to see if it was found.

I play rock and a little bit of blues, and this guitar suits both nicely.
Im using a Zoom Fire-36 modeling Amp, and a BOSS Metalzone MT-2 Dist. Pedal
Noisy? yes, on the middle 3 positions on the pickup selector. the 5th (bottom) is noiseless, and (this is weird), the 1st (top) position has almost no amplification! It probably has that one Single Coil selected there....... The noise can be supressed if your amp has noise supression, or if u have a pedal or other efect that supresses noise. other than that, the tone of the guitar is unaffected
This guitar can smoothly alternate between a rich sound to a sweet, distorted tone for soloing and whatnot.
The two humbuckers are quite impressive for the price. the tone knob gives lots of variety: lowering it gives a more rich, subtle tone, good for adding mid, while increasing it gives more distortion, giving you that over the top, metal tone.
i dont really like the fact that the 1st pickup selector position gave me almost no sound, which was pretty wierd

At first, the bridge was set to an annoying position, where the Floyd Rose got out of tune at the very bend of the whammy. That was fixed when i adjusted it (lowered); the tuning then became a lot more stable.
THe guitar came flawless, and the wine red paint is eye-catching

Ive never played it live, but i have on recordings, and this guitar never gave me problems.
again, the tuning can begin to swivel a bit, but not by much when the action at the bridge is adjusted.
I can definitely depend on this guitar for practice, and gigs, but with a backup

I've been playing this guitar for 2 months, and it hasnt let me down. My friends love it, and i'd definitely buy it again if it were stolen, as it is a sub $200 guitar.
I love the diversity of the tone, in conjunction with my BOSS metalzone and my amp. its an absolute joy.
I compared this SX to my Washburn Dimebolt 332, and while my Dime may be more agressive in tone, it cant beat the dynamics of the Floyd Rose on my SX.
This is a great guitar for the price. sure, its not perfect, but when you get effects like distortion pedals, wah pedals, etc. you can attain any sound you want!
