Three pickup H-S-H strat-type body style, with a Wilkinson tremolo; 5-way pickup switch; tone and volume controls. Thin, wide neck with 24 jumbo frets. Supposed to be solid basswood body and maple neck, feels like it is. Black finish and hardware. Came with an extra spring for the tremolo and an allen wrench that doesn't seem to fit any of the nuts on the guitar ...If you're looking at an Ibanez RG, I think you're looking at the same guitar ... exactly the same guitar ...

Sound : 10
For a guitar you'll get in your hands for $120, it's pretty amazing. I wanted an instrument I could fix up to get a decent shredding/ fusion ax. While I still plan to replace the pups with Dimarzio and/or Carvin Holdsworth, the stock pups sound quite decent. I particularly like the neck/single coil mix -- sounds great for country picking or for jazz (with my Roland Cube on JC120 or Fender simulation, it sounds like an old Guild or Gibson single coil). Crank the full neck humbucker and it's not bad -- I want more harmonic overtones, but it's a decent sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action needs a little adjusting -- the strings need to be lowered a touch. Fit and finish are pretty amazing for the price -- I found a small clearcoat blob near the nut, but it's otherwise excellent. The frets are well dressed and I haven't found any buzzing frets (maybe after I lower the strings). I am having trouble with the tuning -- I think the strings are binding on the nut (looks like plastic), especially when using the whammy. I planed to replace the machines, loks like the nut has to go, too.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Seems like it should hold up well -- the parts feel solid and well made.

I bought mine from Rondo Music, who's shipping department seems to be psychic -- I ordered it at 10 a.m. on the Friday before Mmeorial Day weekend and it was in UPS' hands by 11:30 that morning. I had it Tuesday ... I don't remember if it came with a warranty card, but I'd lose it anyway since I'm going to modify it. I think the Web site says the guitars have a 1-year warranty.

I've been playing 30+ years, and still find new fun and sound in a different guitar. I have seven instruments, including a 1936 Gibson L-50, an 1980 Ibanez FH-100 jazz box, 1984 Ibanez Roadstar strat and a Chinese-made Johnson Tele copy. I've had Fenders and Gibsons and I don't know I'll ever buy another. The Johnson and this SX have impressed me with their workmanship, sound and playability -- haven't seen a recent American guitar for under $3,000 that compares. Go ahead and get one -- if you don't like it, give it to your kid, neighbor or have a yard sale. Then get what you want, but don't be surprised if you come back ...

when i first bought it after looking at the pictures i thought that the neck would be kind of thick. but when i opened it boy was i wrong! it felt like an ibanez that you would see in guitar center for 1000 bucks! its got realy fat frets which is nice and they don't have any rough sports or anything that would cut your fingers. the body has a nice contour that fits the body just perfect. it's all black with sharp corners which makes it an awesome guitar for metal. the pickups are hsh but they aren't too great. if i were you i would check out dragonfireguitars.com and get some new ones from there for cheap cuz they're good.

Sound : 8
overall it sounds good for 100 bucks. if you like a lot of distortion for metal and all that, it makes a sound that really blended and kinda harsh, but it's still not that bad. if you really like to play heavy, heavy metal, look some where else. but if your into pure rock and roll his is a great sounding guitar!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
i really looked over this sucker and overall the finish is great. theres no paint smudges or lighter spots. the neck is set nice although the action was pretty high when i got mine, ut hey, that's ha;f the fun, makin it your own. the pcikups where a little crooked when it came but just barely, you would have to get about a foot away to really tell. the whammy bar was set perfect along with pretty much anything else that i didn't talk about. overall made surprisingly well for the price.

Reliability/Durability : 8
i only had it for a little over a week so i can' really say. i wouldn't hesitate to play live with it though. it feels really solid exsept for the jack where the amp cable goes in. it doesn't really catch the groove on the cable to well so if you pull it it might pop out kinda easy.

Customer Support : 10
when i first went tobuy it there was some confusion with my credit card stuff cuz i was an idiot and typed the number in wrong but they handled it very proffesionally, smoothly, and quickly. it semmed like they actually cared!

Overall Rating : 9
overall this guitar is amazing. after looking at all the squiers and other guitars in this range, there is no comparison. it looks beautifull, sounds cool, feels amazing (especialy the thin neck), and is incredibly cheap! without a doubt i would recomend this to anyone, beginner, or professional to use as a knock around. great guitar!

Mine is a bit of customized, specially on electronics..
Matte black with crome hardware.
Ibanez JEM series copy body (kinda like Steve Vai's models).
Black licienced Floyd rose (with whammy bar, ofcourse),speed loader type.
Crome tuner machine head with double locking feature.
Maple neck, binded 24 Jumbo rosewood frets with white circle pearloid inlays.
Customized carbon-aluminum pickguard.

Sound : 7
Customized. 1 humbucker (brand : R-Supersonic,made in Thai), Gibson's 3-way toggle (to make Tom Morello's kill switch), 1 volume pot.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Guitar body's comfortable to handle, with Ibanez JEM copy, but a lil bit smaller. strings action is adjustable with floating bridge. Tunner head has rotation problem. 2-3 of them are really hard to turn (might think the string is fully wound). Cheap locking nut, screw threads spoilt after installing the 5th & 6th string. Could get it deep enough,so the locking doesnt work (the strings tend to detune).

Reliability/Durability : 7
I just bought mine. It seems reliable and cool looking, but I would carry a backup guitar in live performance :p

Customer Support : No Opinion
Bought part by part,so warranty void.

I play from slow rock to metal. After customized electronics setup, I could be happier. The neck feels just nice,no too big for my asian hands :)

H-S-H config (Humbucker, Single coil, Humbucker)

Stock pickups, not sure of brand.

24 fret maple neck with bound rosewood fretboard very fast and thin.

Double cut a way strat style body

Non-Locking tuners (not sure of brand)

Sound : 8
I play everything from classic rock to blues to melodic instrumentals you name it I play it. So the HSH config really comes in handy. I play through a 15w Behringer amp for right now with a V-amp and you can get any sound you want. You can get the crunch of the bridge pup or the classic single coil cry or use the neck for that warm classic rock sound. Also with the tone knob you can dial in exact amounts of the tone your looking for. You cant get this variety of sound from a SSS or HH config. Its the best of both worlds! I really like the crunch of the bridge pickup. The only bad thing is the middle single coil you get a little noise but hey its a single coil what do you expect. I plan on changing the pickups to some better ones in the future but thats just because I like to modify guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is about medium height I would say, not too high but could stand to be lower but this is how ALL guitars are setup from the factory. Intonation was setup perfect. I've gone over this guitar with a fine tooth comb and have not found one paint smudge they did a really great job. The binding on the neck is something you would expect to find on a $700 guitar. You can see one small seem on the back of the neck Im sure its a 3 piece neck. but its just a change in grain, you cant feel the seem.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I dont play live but I wouldn't hesitate to pull this baby out on stage if I ever make it there. It has now become my main axe and seems like it will withstand the test of time with care and maintnance as with any guitar. The stap buttons seem sturdy but are a little bigger then my strat so I had trouble getting my strap to fit. The tone knob seems kind of loose.

Customer Support : 10
I havent had to deal with customer support on this purchase however I emailed Kurt at Rondo and asked him a few questions on some of the models they sell and he emailed me back within 5 minutes!! Now if thats not taking care of the customer I dont know what is.

I've been playing for almost 6 months and this is my 2nd guitar. My first was a strat. I bought this SX SEG1 because I want a humbucker sound. If it were stolen I wouldnt mind because it was so affordable and I would rush to buy another one. I love how light it is, it wont hurt your shoulder over hours of playing. Your hands will seriously glide up and down this neck. I wish it came with a bone nut instead of the plastic nut. Folks this is a sub $200 guitar you arent going to get perfection however if you are a beginner or looking for a backup please dont hesitate to purchase this guitar.
