This guitar has a good metal sound. Not a clean sound. Good for muted rhythm playing or overdriven leads. Excellent guitar for this use.

I use it with a Peavey Bandit 65. Generally guitar volume knob to max while adjusting the amps post gain to suit.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Out of the box I lowered the action and tuned it. That's it.

Pickup height was ok.

Nut ok.

Neck good.

A few sharp fret edges.

Back cover plate just slightly misaligned.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Will take live playing.

Floyd seems to be decent quality.

Finish is nice. Of course heavy picking will mar it like any other.

Quilt top is beautiful.

Solid strap buttons.

Rondo Music is excellent.

Overall Rating : 8
While still being made in China this model apparently will not be available in US anymore.

This is very comfortable guitar to play. Weight is approx 7 lbs.

I like the style of this guitar. It's Axis knockoff for $90. Not a real Axis of course! Not as good as a real Axis.

This is an SX Wolfgang clone made in Korea in either 2005 or 2006. And by clone, I mean clone. The body and headstock look almost Identical to the real thing. It's a mahogany body with a quilted maple top. A 22 fret maple neck with a maple fretboard are attached. The frets are jumbo frets I believe. Not too big though.

The trem is a licensed speedloader floyd. I was kinda surpised because I'd never used a speedloader before. It stays in tune so I'm happy.

There are 2 very high output humbuckers. One 3-way switch controls them along with a lone volume pot. The switch is a little stiff, but that's mostly because it's new.

The finish is your classic wolfgang amber quilt. Although it's quite a bit darker then ones I usually see. It looks absolutely beautiful. Very good job.

For a Wolfgang clone, this thing is great. I've played the OLP clones, and this blows it outta the water. Both in sound and construction, but also in price. If you're looking for a clone, try to track down one of these.

This is a very bright sounding guitar. I didn't expect it to sound this bright with a mahongany body, but the maple quilt and maple fretboard really brighten it up. It does sound very good though. Even acoustically, this thing just rings. It's got a great amount of sustain and is very playable.

The stock pickups are high output, but a little lifeless. They're not the worst things in the world, but not the best either. They will definately be replaced. But what do you expect for 90 bucks? I will say, the pups are very quiet though, no excessive hum at all.

Overall, this is a very good sounding guitar. I was impressed at how the notes ring out of this.

Out of the box, the action was very low. TOO LOW. There was a ton of buzz all over the neck. After further inspection I realized it was because the neck was absolutely straight. No curve at all. After a quick twist of the truss rod and the bridge raised a little it was ready to be played.

The frets are in great shape. No sharp edges at all. The only problem I have is that there is still some buzz on the low E at the 17th fret, but that's it. I can live with that.

The neck has a full round curve, not so much that it feels like a Gibson baseball bat, but not thin like an Ibanez or Jackson either. The neck is also abit wider then I expected. But it plays very smoothly. I was surpised at the high gloss finish on the back of the neck as well as the fretboard, I usually like tung oil, but it feels good. Not sticky at all.

The maple quilt looks very nice. It's a very dark amber, quite abit darker then the pictures portrays. It looks very nice. There are 2 or 3 very small surface scrathes in the clear coat, but you have to look very close and at the right angle to notice.

The floyd was set up nice, perfectly stable. It returns to zero after every divebomb. Not bad for a floyd that isn't the original. The locking nut is also in there solid and straight. A big plus. I'm surpised at the tuning pegs, they're very smooth and easy. I was expecting hard and crappy ones for this price.

I wasn't impressed with how the pickups were put in. They feel a little loose. I just think it's a matter of the hole being a little too big for the pickup screw. I'll fix that when I swap out the pickups.

Overall, very solidly built. My biggest concern was the body and neck were solid and they are.

I'm fairly sure this thing could take a beating. The nice finish would wear off, but it feels solid. I'm sure I'd take this out on the road. As for a backup, never gig without a backup...EVER.

Kurt at Rondo is a great guy. I emailed him about this guitar and got an answer later that day. I was actually a little bummed about it really. I asked if he was getting anymore of these in and he stated no and that they would no longer be sold in the US. Oh well.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing off and on for 10 years. I've got 4 other guitars that I love. All of them different. I figured while looking at Rondo, that I'd add this Wolfgang clone to my collection. I had no illusions going in, I figured that the electronics and pups would suck, but I was concerned with the body and neck construction first and foremost. I can always swap out the pups later.

I was impressed with this. The pups weren't as bad as I thought they'd be, they're atleast usable for the most part. They'll get swapped out soon, but until then...they're usable.

I really like how the guitar sounds and plays. It has a nice sound acoustically. It just rings. As stated, it is a very bright sounding guitar, so you may need to turn the volume pot down just a touch to roll off the high end.

If I could add anything to this guitar, it would be a coil tap switch for the humbuckers. But I'll add a push/pull pot when I redo the electronics.

Overall, a very solid project guitar. For 90 bucks, you're obviously not gonna get a true Peavey Wolfgang...but there's no way I was gonna spend 1200 bucks on one either. I'm very happy with. With about 30 minutes of setup work and some new pickups...this thing should sound just as great as the original.
