Beautiful quilted top! Duncan designed humbuckers with coil taps! It looks like a Les Paul and Telecaster hybrid! TOTALLY COOL!! It gives all the tones of a Les Paul or a Tele and many in between sounds! Mahogany body and neck, Grover tuners, string through body, set neck! What more can you ask for!! The AV4 has been discontinued and I was lucky to get one!! If you're lucky you may still find one!

I think this is a well made guitar that will stand up to live playing! Everything seems solid. I've played custom tele's, strats and high dollar Carvin's and this Greg Bennett Series is as good as anything I've played! I do still love Carvin's though!!

I bought it from Anthem Guitars and Music on ebay and the customer support was solid. The guitar had been thoroughly checked out and was ready to go when I bought it! It also came with a Lifetime warranty! I can see why Greg Bennett Series guitars were voted the best guitars in the USA 2007!

I've been playing for about 9 years and I also own Composite Acoustics which are really cool guitars too. I'd cry if this AV4 were lost or stolen because they're getting harder to get since they're discontinued! If possible, I'd buy another one!
I compared it to Epiphone which were lesser quality for more money and also Galveston which were basically junk! Even compared to high dollar Carvin's this guitar stood it's own!

I own 2 PRS's A custom made srat and Gibson 335. I recently picked the AV4 because I was looking for an inexpensive guitar to soup up a bit. The styling was a tele morphed with a les paul...kinda cool and unique but really inviting to play.
With 2 Duncan designed pickups a string through body design, grover tuners, solid mahoghany body with a curly maple top it was a good starting point. It has a nice wide. flat neck which is dream to play.

This category should actually come after the next one. Once I had it all set up it sounded great. The coil taps are great with the Duncan pickups. I use this guitar for both a Rock vibe and for a clean Jazz sound when the 335 is to boxy for the song.

Out of the box I was disappointed, You see I orderd this from Samick without playing one first. I've played other models and was always impressed by the quality and playability. This was terrible. I mean the action was a 1/2 inch from the 12th fret. The saddles (obviously) weren't adjusted properly and the nuts holding the tuners on were lose. Having confidence in my set up abilities I took it home. After a day of fine tweaking I got it to where I like it...Alot! The neck angle to the body is a little off and I need to shave down the saddle screws a little because now with the low action they stick up too much...this guitar is inviting and comfortable to play. I love the wide flat nick. It feels great in my hands. I might raise the action a tad and use this guitar for slide stuff now.

I've been playing forever. I gig 5,6, 7 nights aweek ina variety of bands and situations. I'm a tone freak. My rig is amazing with Boogie always at the hub. I own PRS's (2) a Custom made Strat. A Gibson 335, a Takamine Santa Fe and now..Samick (?!)
I actually approached Samick about an endorsement. All the guitars I've played have been great.

This is a great guitar. I have a collection and (right now at least) this is my favorite--wide range of sounds, great neck, every note sings, stays in tune.
But...
I have noted one glaring problem with the design of this guitar. The cutaway is too shallow. The deepest recess on the cutaway of a Les Paul or Tele is aligned with the 22nd fret (I checked.) On this it's aligned with the twentieth. This makes playing those top frets VERY difficult. Try bending up to that high E on a solo on this guitar and you're in for trouble. A weird design flaw on an otherwise superb guitar. Hey, Greg--if you're reading your reviews, please send me an email to expain why you did this!

Very versatile. Doesn't capture the Les Paul sound as well as an AV7 (which I also own) but it's got a lot more vaiety with the push/pull tap.

Out of the box--phenomenal. I'm a serious player, and a snob, and this is one screamingly great guitar. Between the global economy (slave labor) and laser technology, it's truly amazing what $300 will buy you compared to ten or twenty years ago. And that $300 is worth a lot LESS today!

Very good in the brief encounter I had with them when dealing with a problem with my AV7.

Yes. The "S" logo on the head is REALLY, REALLY UGLY and, frankly, when I start playing live again, I will consider refinishing the head to solid black. That black-on-gold paint job just looks cheap, on a guitar that's otherwise beautiful. A MOP pearl inlay might add a little to the cost, but it would save me from having to render a great instrument anonymous.

playing about 35 years. Have went through alot of instruments in my day. I would like to replace it if something happened to eat. I love the looks , feel, playability, and sound of it. dothing I don't like about it . Favorite features are looks, sound, push\pull tone for the different sounds. It would be really hard to match this up with any thing else in this price range. If you get a chance try one out , but beware you will be wanting to purchase one after that.

There is no comparision with any other guitar in this price range that would beat this.
