The Guitar has 22 frets
The string through the body bridge creates amazing bearing pressure at the bridge, which results in incredible attack and sustain. The punch that this guitar can generate will floor you. The Duncan Designed??? pickups offer up that trademark tone that just can't be topped.

The angled back headstock produces greater string bearing pressure at the nut. This gives the guitar more attack and sustain.

Angled back headstock

String through the body bridge

Duncan Design??? humbucker

FA 2 FEATURES

Single cutaway body
Bound, High Tech quilt top
Maple bolt-on neck

I play the guitar 20 hours a week
The Strap Buttons are still solid
Yes I can depend on it
Yes I would use it on a gig without backups

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 40+ years and I own sevral guitars to many to mention in here
How well does it play when you hook it up to a digital PA setup
And if it ever get stolen I wll replace it
I compare it to a 1964 Gibson Les Paul and the weight difference is a difference the sustain is unbeatable to compare to a Gibson
a Wammy bar
Like I said I own a lot of guitars and for the price this guitar was worth every penny..

It's a red quilted maple top guitar that resembles a tele with 2 lipstick pups and a Duncan Design pup (most likely modelled after the JB),Maple neck, which is about as strong as a rubber band. No tremolo, and a neck that feels like a Les Paul (except with smaller frets). It comes from Indonesia.

Sound : 7
The lipsticks are a lower output, putting them closer to the strings give a wolf tone so keep them about an 1/8th away and back off the humbucker to match your output. It has a nice chimey tone from the lipsticks, but the humbucker loses some of its' tone because of backing it off. I think an Alnico pro II in the bridge would be a smart choice, especially if you split the coils with a 250K ohm push pull pot on the tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
The fit and finish are pretty nice. The Grovers had to be tightened up which is no biggie but... the neck on mine is as flimsey as a rubber band! No need for a tremolo because all I have to do is flex my arm and do a dive bomb! No Kidding, it's like the neck is made of Balsa! This is definitely going to be replaced in the future. I don't know if it was the way the wood was cut or not, but this it completely unacceptable!

Reliability/Durability : 6
The finish is thick but pretty. The hardware is metal...I don't think it's lead so It should hold up. I will use it out live, and save up for a new neck for it. It definitely has potential.

Never dealt with Samick, don't know.

I've been playing for 30 years or so. I have had about every top end guitar out there. I have owned Strats from the 70's which everyone thought were crappy when they came out and are now selling on e-bay for ridiculous prices. The quote "A 30 year old bottle of Boones farm wine is still a bottle of Boones farm wine" comes to mind. This guitar has possibilities. The lipsticks sound like they should, but I will replace the Humbucker. And the neck will need replacing too. This guitar set my wife back $270 (Valentines Gift) With an new neck and Pup I will still have a guitar That I will enjoy for much less than I would have spent for a new Fender or Gibson

Telecaster style guitar with a beautiful red quilted maple top and cream binding. Three Duncan designed pick-ups two single coil lipstick style in the neck and middle position and a humbucker at the bridge. Very slick maple neck.Comes with some excellent Grover tuners that keep the guitar in tune.

Sound : 9
It sounds much like a Telecaster lots of spank and bite. The single soils are really quiet which is a bonus when you are playing quiet passages. I have played it through my Yamaha DG 60 modeling amp on a clean Fender model, and it sounds wonderful. I have also played it in rehearsal through a Traynor 30 watt Dynagain amp using a small tube pre-amp and the guitar just rocked. Lots of variety in sound with the three pick-up set up. I play blues, R&B, and classic rock( Beatles, Stones etc. The guitar really suits these styles of music.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It was slightly used when I bought it, but it was in immaculate shape. I was very impressed with the fit and finish. The only adjustments I made were to lower the action by adjusting the saddles. I was able to get the strings almost touching the frets, and there was no buzz or rattle. The action is just killer fast now. I was amazed at the quality of this guitar considering the list price was $400.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have only had the guitar for a few weeks. I am quite certain will age well, as the workmanship and electronics are of a high calibre. It is not as heavy as some Telecasters I have played. It sits nicely over my shoulders, and is a pleasure to play.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to deal with Samick, and considering on how this guitar was assembled, I don't expect any problems. Check out their website to see a few videos of Greg Bennett describing the models he has designed in cooperation with Samick.

I have been playing a long time, and I have owned and traded many guitars over the years. I currently own and play a Godin electric guitar , great company great guitars. I also have a Washburn 335 style guitar another great find. I also own an early model Ibanez Roadstar RS1000 which I am in the process of selling. I have never been a guitar snob, having to own a Gibson, Fender or Paul Reed Smith. I really think you can find some amazing instruments at a fair price if you do some research, and have an open mind and open ears.

Got this summer of 2005 as a closeout from a company off the net-$199 shipping included. I love lipsticks (Danos) AND teles, so i thought I might be able to consolidate some blues tones from different rigs in one place...BINGO!

Asian made. 21 frets. Mine is red quilt top with a cream top binding. 3 ply pickguard W/B/W.

Comes with a maple fastback neck and nice kidney Grovers. I HATE the look of the Greg Bennet headstock, AND I wanted to "Muddy-ify" this from the start, so I unscrewed the neck, sold it complete with the Grovers on Ebay for about $60, purchased an S101 strat type neck with a rosewood board (a la Muddy) for about $25, some speaker cabinet knobs to replace the rollers on the tone and volume (another 10 bucks maybe) and voila, for a final cost of about $175 I have a Muddy Waters telecaster with a helluva lot more tonal variety than the Fender signature model.

Before my mods I's still give it high marks for what it is--let's say 8. After customization, 10!

Sound : 9
So you've got a 5 way switch between 2 lipsticks and a Duncan design bucker in the bridge. SO much tonal flexibility. As you may have gueseds, I'm interested in Blues, and that line that Muddy worked between pre-electric National/Dobro style delta blues and raw electrified blues (think Hound Dog Taylor...more recently, Black Keys.) I alternate between rhythm licks and short leads/solos. The lipstick sound, with its kindof hollow echoing effect, is great for this kind of stuff. If I play more strickly chord stuff for a thicker sound, the humbucker gives you that wide spectrum you want.

I use a variety of amps, both Fender and marshall and then small screem practice amps like Dinosaur, Ampuplugnplay (ever seen one of those?!)

Sold my Dano U-3 shortly after creatign this thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Given the mods I did, pretty much right out of the box, I was less concerned about how any of this related to the neck.. My recollection is that the frets were not well sized and though the maple neck was fast and easy to play, it would have taken some fret filing for me to have gotten it into playing shape had I kept it.

Quality of the body, the finish, and the electronics is excellent. Especially given the price point you're operating in.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It's a slab, it will withstand a lot, no doubt.

Strap buttons look solid.

I play mostly at home and occasionally at others' homes or outdoors in parks, etc, not a "working musician". Seems plenty reliable to me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No clue, and obviously because of the mods, no longer warrantied. Though it was when i bought it, even as a shelf model, so that's something for your $200.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been palying for about 7 years and have tried out a lot of guitars. My other standy-bys at this point are (and i recommend all of these, too, so check-'em out);

acoustic: Breedlove Atlas dreadnought
resonator: National Delphi, also modded
Les paul styles: Epi Jr. P-90, also modded, Tradition 2 HB quilt top
Fender-esque: Squire Custom II with twin P-90s, Guitar Factory A/E with twin EMGs
3 cigar box guitars, all hand built and electrified

If it were stolen or lost, sure I'd replace it. It's my way of honoring my tonal guru, the Mudmaster, and it satisfies my desire to find gritty bluesy tone on the cheap (as it should be).

Love the most: the 2 lipsticks in a Tele body!
