I have had a very rare Sanox Sound Creator (Japan) for around 20 years, it has matured and grown on me. It has a stunning double cutaway design - probably the most attractive electric I have, solid varnished maple body with mahogany fretboard and black headstock. I have searched all over to see if there are any similar Sanox guitars, and have only seen three or four other designs. this one beats them all hands down.

Sound : 9
The 2 x double humbuckers give great oomph, and plenty of controls make this guitar very flexible - on the move versatility from bright to deep down grunt.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
From a playability perspective, the action is awesome and it just has a natural feel to it. It is the guitar that I enjoy just picking up and playing while watching TV or chilling. The pickups are well adjusted. The only negative is that sometimes while strumming I inadvertently brush the tone controls, but I do that with most Gibson style controls.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It is brilliant at keeping its tune and is very robust.

Whoever Sanox were, they should have made more of these guitars. Every time I play it, people are interested in the guitar.

I bought this guitar in 1987 and possess it since them. It was the guitar on which I made my first musical steps. Body seems to be made from maple, finish is transparent red. Neck is one piece maple. Body style has some features seen by fender strat, but otherwise it has it's own style. It's difficult to describe, if you wish I send you a picture by email or vieuw on http://sa-ki.de. Tuners are medium quality, but good enough for me. Never had any problems with them. Neck skale is for a strat-type guitar with bold-on maple-neck rather fat. The guitar is made in early eighties in Japan, quality is better than fender in this time. It has a standard strat configuration with three single coils, 2 tone and one volume-knob.

Sound : 10
I play very different music styles, and this is my prefered guitar for clean, crunch, blues and rock. Metal sounds better with humbucker-guitar and more output. The sound is for me with one word fantastic. I never had a better strat (-copie) under my fingers and I have several fenders (about 20 guitars, also signature). Some sounds can only be made with this guitar, for example "money for nothing", tonepoti for the middle pickup to "zero", 5-way-switch to position 4 (neck/middle) and that's the money-for-nothing-sound, but without (!) wahwah! Other example is little wing. I could swear that hendrix uses this guitar ;-)...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was build very "proper", although yet, after more than 20 years, everything is great. It looks as it's new, and it was on many stages (speaks for good care of the owner and for good quality of the guitar ;-)...).

Reliability/Durability : 10

Never needed, but also don't know where to ask for customer support - in net you can't find anything about the factory...

Overall Rating : 10
Only solution if i loose this guitar seems to be suicid, I think I will never get a comparable guitar...

So it has a 3way selector with 2 volumes and 2 tones controls. Has 2 humbuckers (not sure of the make) and a case. Was made in Japan but not sure what year. The neck is made of Rosewood and not sure what the body is made of, however she is very heavy. Nothing out of ordinary in this piece, except she's a great addition to my music family. Should anyone have additional information about Sanox Sound Creator Guitars please feel free to email me at anytime. tx

Well back in the 80's I was head deep in classic rock. Searching high and low for a guitar that would suit my every need, I wanted something classic like a Les Paul but the price of such piece was way out of my price range. Through the local paper I found this Sanox Sound Creator Guitar that came with a Fender Super Reverb Amp. The second I put my fingers to the board I knew it was a keeper. Although I wasn't plugged into a Marshall, and no effects where used, what sweet sound she delivered. With 2 humbucker pickups, I was impressed. No buzzing, no hissing, even during pickup selection. Pods are clean and quiet, and the tones range from bright to full is quite impressive.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Since purchasing this piece used, the intonation was off a little (nothing a little screwdriver wasn't able to fix). Tuning keys needed a replacing, and pink did the trick. Fret board is perfect, no flaws or misalignement. Everything else about this jem was tight and comfortable. Action is perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Played live, too many times to mention and on many occasions I was approached in relations to it. Had many offers to sell, but why sell something you like right? Never once has it let me down. The finish is what I love the most about it. Gold on black, (no cracks or impurities) and even with it's age it still manages to turn head. So it's not a "Les Paul" funny how many eyes notice it tho lol. As for doing a gig without having a back up guitar, it's been done often... just awesome stuff.

Customer Support : 9
Never had to deal with customer support, God knows I wouldn't know where to start. I have no clues as to the history of the Sanox company and would love to get info should anyone know of it. Made in Japan is all I know and as for the age of this piece, I'm clueless. But one thing is for sure, it was made to last.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about 25 years, and own a Fender Tele, 1965 Fender Super Reverb Amp, with a Zoom 40/40 effects processor, a couple of 6 string Yamaha Accoustics including a Red Tag FG-180 and Takamine. But that Sanox Sound Creator is a keeper for this guy, if lost or stolen, chances of getting the same guitar would be impossible due to it's rarety and availability.

I'm not sure when it was made, I reckon late seventies. It is a Fender Lead copy made in Japan to the highest standard. I dare to say that it is probably even better than the Fender. 2 single coils and three switches allow you to get every possible combination, including out-of-phase. Very versatile. Long scale like a Strat.

Sound : 10
This is the best bit, no doubt about that. The original Alnico pickups are superb, a bit like Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials. It does a bit of a good Strat and a bit of a good Tele, best of both worlds.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
A dream neck, low action, plays a dream. The finish is a see thru black, not the nicest color in the world, OK.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Quality, made in the golden days of Japanese guitar building (1976 - 1985). It's hard to find better guitars nowadays.

It might sound strange but this cool looking guitar is my favourite, it eats my Korean PRS for breakfast.

I bought this guitar used for my son, 13, after we went to a Motorhead concert. He plays an SG and is starting to talk about something flashier as a second guitar...he thought the guitar player in Motorhead's Explorer styled guitar was rad, so I bought this one for him as a surprise at some future date.

I've played it through the Marshall 30 watt solid state amp the seller uses (my son has a Marshall 50 watt of the same type, the MGD series)...and it sounded totally nasty. Later, I played it through a Crate 20 watt amp and it sounded nearly as good...Whole Lotta Love by Led Zep kinda sound. My setup is a Trace Elliot SuperTramp 100 watt tube/s.s. head and a vintage '67 Traynor 2-12 cab, and I think it'll be a smiler guitar through that rig. I don't use effects.

I was surprised...no noise or hum or static or dirty pots...the volumes are a bit dead until about 4, but worse things could happen.

The rythmn setting is fairly thick and ballsy, the lead setting is bright and clear and the mid setting is...meh, just okay.

This guitar is surprising, because it can be very evil or quite clear. For a cheapy, it proves that Japanese guitars are probably all very good value.

Like I said, this guitar's a smiler...it makes you want to rock hard. What's there not to like?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The set up's a bit high just now.
The pickups are a bit whacked towards the deeper strings.
All adjustable.
The quality is however, very good. Well built guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This strikes me as a very solid guitar. Given that it's 20 years old, I suspect it's as good as my '94 Samick-made-in Korea Epi Les Paul Double Cutaway and has possibly better electronics than my '99 Squire Chinese Jagmaster Standard.

Sanox is virtually untraceable on the WWW. This is Harmony Central's first Sanox review. Who knows who "Sanox" really was? My guess is they were made in the same factory as some name brand guitars...it feels good, sounds good and stays in tune too well to be crap.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing bad 3 chord nasty greasy stuff on and off for about 35 years. I'm like Johhny Appleseed; I guy gear all the time, then give it way to my kids, neices, nephews or sell it at no profit to friends' kids...to spread the word of rock n roll. :)

I bought this one so my son can have a retro glam metalhead guitar. It's like "HairBand in a Can".

I love Explorer styled guitars because they're so stupid. But I wish I had a truckload of them, just for the giggles in teaching power chords to kids.
