I have a 2006 Vampyre Red 006. All stock at this point as a friend jsut gave it to me about a week ago. I will save you all the details as you can read the other reviews or go to schecters website for the specifics. I'm not sure as to how I will like the Basswood body as I tend to lean on mahogany and Alder guitars for their tone. Not a super awesome guitar but a great foundation.
Sound
:7
I play in a band who plays Progressive metal. We play all original music. I have to say, as a stock guitar its not too bad. I have played everything from 24 ten tops from PRS to a les paul special II and This guitar is about middle of the road as far as sound goes. The bridge will chew you up and spit you out when distorted in standard c tuning. I own a Kramer Vanguard FR404s with emg 81/85's in it as well as a Schecter Tempest Custom, and The 006 can hold its own. The neck pickup is a little flat and tinny, but in the price range it's in, you probably plan on upgrading anyway if this is to be your primary weapon of choice. I have had no problem playing this thing clean or playing overdriven chords. I can blaze a decent solo with it too. Having only 22 frets is kinda a bummer, but all in all a solid mid range guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The one I recevied was set up beautifully from the get go. I like the action a little on the low side, so with a quick adjustment, I was blazing the stage in no time.

I have only had this guitar a short while, so I can't say for sure if it will last, but with anything if you treat it right, it shold be around a while. My experiences with Schecter Guitars is that it will be a tough machine. May have to change the tuners though, a few seem weak.

I have been playing for 7 years, and this is a very solid feeling guitar. If it were stolen I would probably buy another. Once I put the emg's in it, Im sure we will never part. The neck on this thing is a shredders dream. so comfortable. I love this guitar.

Satin finish, strat style body made of basswood, 22 jumbo frets, made in Korea, tuners are diamond( schecter ), string thru body. Diamond pickups, good for metal, but thats about it. Schecter has a cool design for the headstock, they use it on alot of their guitars. I have the red satin one, they call it Vampyre I think. One volume and one tone knob( do you really need more?)
Sound
:8
I play a ton of metal, and this guitar is perfect for it. I play directly through my Marshall G50R with no effects pedals, and it sounds HEAVY. A little muddy clean, but who needs clean? With the right pedals, you can make any guitar sound like a keyboard. I love the bottom end you can get from this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
Guitar was perfect when I bought it. I didn't have to adjust anything. The action was perfect, not too high, just right. Intonation was good, stays in tune very well, even after string changes.
Reliability/Durability
:9
I would certainly play with it live, but I never play live without a bakup, no matter what I am using. I have owned it for about three months, and I haven't had any problems with the hardware. The finish is just as good as when I bought it, and I have taken it everywhere. It is not too heavy, so the strap buttons are fine.

I have been playing for 10 years. I own a Fender Satin Strat, a Dean Cadillac X, and a Warwick bass. I would buy it again if it were stolen. In spit of what some people think, you can get a good quality guitar without spending 1000 bucks. This guitar plays just as well as the ESP and the Jackson I played, the only difference is the pickups, and if that is important to you, buy some EMGs or something. You can afford it with the money you save from not spending 1000 dollars on that Mark Morton signature model.

Mine is a 2005 model made in I beleive Korea, since that is where schecter parts are made, but assembled in the US. It has 22 Jumbo Frets. The feature are quite simple, 'no frills' if you want to call it that. its a 'vampyre' red satin see through finish. String thru body.
This sounds weird but this guitar reminds me of "the Red Violin" if any of you have seen that movie...the voilin is painted with the main character's dead wifes blood...a bit morbid...but the paint job on this guitar will literally make you just stare at it in awe...no joke.
Sound
:10
If you want to play metal (like me) or rock n roll...this is the guitar for you...the sound is unbeleivable. I have no dislikes for this guitar...I also own a Schecter Diamond Series 'Green Flame' what was almost 3x the price when i got it, and i like this one possibly more.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar came ready to go...PERFECTLY TUNED as soon as i got it...which i didn't expect. the pickups did not need adjusting at all which is alos pretty cool. No flaws which is amazing with any guitar, no matter what the price.

This guitar is amazing for practicing or live...but when you first get the guitar...you are afraid to hurt the awesome paint job.
The finish stays on very well...no complaints...only thing is that (its a matter of taste) you can polish it...which looks amazing.

If this guitar was stolen i would definitly buy it again.
I looked at many guitars before i chose this one..and i had no budget on what to spend basically, so even though this wasnt a 1000$ guitar, i still love it and wouldnt trade it for anything.

I believe my 006 Deluxe is either a 2002 or a 2003. It's a lefty with 22 jumbo frets, two factory standard humbuckers, one volume and one tone control with a three way selector. Tune o matic bridge with shit tuners.
Sound
:7
My style is a passive Doom Metal reminiscent of old Katatonia and October Tide. I started off playing in E, but switched to D after a year. When I first bought the guitar, the 6th string buzzed when I played any of the first five frets. I took it back, they looked at it, raised the action to the point where it didn't buzz, but made it impossible to play from the middle to the base of the fretboard. Overall, the sound is a bit too twangy for my taste, but I'm very happy with the warm clean sound that I get from it.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:1
The action is complete *-*-*, because it either buzzes when it's decent, or must be raised to the point where it's impossible to play in order to stop the buzzing. The neck is a very comfortable fit, although not smooth as one would like. The tuning pegs are fine except those for the first and second strings, which are weak and do not hold. the tone knob came loose after a year, which is sad, because I rarely ever touched it. At first I attributed the buzzing to a shit nut, but upon recent inspection, the whole neck is warped and has been since the day I bought it. Not that I knew anything about guitars at the time, but I'm just thankful that it was this rather than the BC Rich warlock right next to it, because I tried playing that one before hand and the nut snapped right in half when I was tuning it!!!
The black satin finish is nice, but is now covered up by stickers.
Reliability/Durability
:5
The hardware is shit in my opinion and the strap buttons need work. I can depend on this guitar for studio work, but for live purposes, I'm sticking with my Epi Iommi.
Customer Support
:1
Never contacted Schecter about the problem, because a company who doesn't seem to care that much about it's products to make sure the neck is straight on a guitar doesn't seem like a company that would care too much about helping me with such a problem.

I've been playing around 2-3 years and I own an Alvarez Acoustic guitar, a Dean Edge bass, and a Tony Iommi Signature Epiphone, all are left handed models. Since the 006 dlxe was my first guitar, I'd probably get pretty sad if it were stolen, if only for the fact that I've written my band's demo on that guitar, as well as learned to play on it. I've compared it to the Iommi Epiphone, but that's really not a fair comparison, considering that the Iommi has better everything and I favor it over the 006.
I wish the 006 deluxe had better craftsmanship and better hardware, that's really about it. It's a great learner guitar.

Sounds like someone packed mud into a chainsaw!
This thing sounds like complete crap!
I couldn't believe what I heard. The guitar was all bass with absolutely no definition. If you play only heavily distorted power chords then this guitar may have all the chunk you could want, but if you actually know a chord then it will not get heard on this guitar. I think a simple pickup swap would remedy this though.

This guitar is pretty solid other than that. I can think of a few quick upgrades I would do before I took it on stage, but The guitar is well balanced and plays great.

Everything is probably stated already in previous reviews...i have the satin red one if anyone cares. It's a "metal guitar" with a tune-o-matic bridge, and that's basically what i want.
Sound
:8
I would give it a 9 in this category if i was only reviewing the high-gain sounds but for clean stuff it's just ok but nothing special I.M.O. (it might be that I'm simply a sucker for strats when it comes to clean sounds.)
I play metal (D# tuning). My style of sound is somewhere between heavy metal and modern heavy rock.
I had been looking everywhere for a guitar that would make open chords "ring" in a certain way even with massive distortion.
This guitar does that really well - chords sound very even, good string separation, higher notes don't jump out and the balance is very nice between all strings. None of the more expensive guitar i tried filled these criteria as well as this one does. This is my choice of guitar for Rhythm playing. And yeah, I tried changing the bridge pickup for a DiMarzio and a gibson 498, recorded some A/B tests of all of them and surprised myself by putting back the stock-pickup, the gibson pickup sounded good but was wrong for my purposes and the DiMarzio had ten times the noise of both = unusable. If anyone's interested in these comparisons just e-mail me. However I have some thoughts of getting another 006 or other schecter model so I can have one with the original pickups and one with EMG 81's. I use Engl and Randall Amps and sometimes a Sansamp gt-2(with external cab simulation or through an amp) for lead playing.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
The action was maybe a bit low when I got it (matter of taste?) but the intonation was very well set-up....opened it up when i was dabbling with the pickups and it looks like a "clean" constrution, very tidy. I have nothing to complain about there.
Reliability/Durability
:7
You have to be extra careful with satin finishes...it touches anything a little too hard and it will make a visible mark...use a good case or gigbag and don't be too rough when playing it (if you care about the finish that is). I don't think the finish would come off by regular use though. The hardware seems pretty solid. I am very happy with the tuners and bridge, I can put it in my gigbag and travel 500 miles with it, pick it up and it's perfectly in tune just the way i left it.
Time will tell if the neck stays in shape et.c. I haven't had it long enough to know.

---- Schecter 006 Deluxe ----
Made in South Korea, mine is a 2004 model I believe. 22 jumbo frets, arch top. The body is a very nice piece of basswood and the neck is maple. One volume and one tone knob, a 3-way switch lets you select the neck, bridge, or both humbuckers. The pickups are Schecter Diamond Series humbuckers (more on those later). It has a satin finish all around with a red stain on the body and black paint on the headstock. It's an original body design - looks sort of like someone took a belt sander to the horns on a C1. The bridge is string-through-body, the tuners are some no-name Schecter brand. The neck is fairly thin, although noticeable thicker than a Wizard neck. 25.5 inch scale lenght, 1-5/8" nut width (easy for smaller hands). It came with a 6 foot cable in the box from Schecter - a nice gesture, but I can deffinatly hear a drop in sound quality when using it. It's held up well with my tuner plugged into it though.
Sound
:10
This being my first and currently only electric guitar, I use it for everything I play. That means metal, classic rock, 80's hair metal, nu-rock, blues, and occasionally some jazz. My amp is a Roland Cube 60, although I've run this through a variety of amps. It always sounds great. There is virtually no noise with this guitar, regardless of how high I turn up the gain. I can get plenty of controlled feedback when I want though. The neck pickup is fairly dark sounding. The basswood body makes it sound a little hollow, but it's far better than anything else in the price range. The neck pickup just screams metal. I would never use it for clean, but it's great at what it does. Having the pickup selector in the middle position gives you a nice organic clean tone that sounds great with an acoustic simulator. Overall, I'd say the tone is a little on the dark side. It's deffinatly geared towards metal and hard rock, but it can do the blues thing fairly convincingly. Not great for jazz, and deffinatly not for country. The bottom line is that it's a great sounding guitar. Because it's the best you'll get for the price, I'm giving it a 10.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
My 006 is the red transparent color (I've seen it called many things but that's what it is). It looks absolutely awful in picktures but gorgeous in reality. I've gotten many comliments on how great it looks from all sorts of people. The satin finish on the neck allows for a great feel. No problems there. It's a little thin on the body though, and I'm starting to where through it in some spots after about 6 months. Nothing major though.
The factory setup was just so-so. The action is a little stiff (I like it that way though) and the pickups aren't adjusted quite right. That's all fixable though, and the store you buy it from should do it for free if you ask. The frets were dressed and leveled perfectly. There are little marks in the side of the fretboard from the maching they used to file the frets, but you get that with all Korean guitars.
The wood was set perfectly. I can't even tell how many pieces the body is. It may well be the best looking piece of basswood I've ever seen (it's usually an ugly wood). The routs are all good, everything fits snuggly but not too tight. The nut is great - no tuning problems here!
Speaking of tuning, these are the most impressive no-name tuners I've ever seen. Unlike others that slip and slide if you just look at them funny, these stay where they are unless you deliberatly move them. Very nice.
I'm taking off two points for the thin finish on the body and poor setup. The setup really should have been taken care of by the store though.
Reliability/Durability
:10
This guitar would most certainly withstand live playing. I've bashed it into walls, ceilings, amps, and had my 50 pound amp fall on the neck with nothing more than minor scratches. The body finish will wear off eventually, but if you take good care of it it will be no worse than any other cheap guitar. The electronics are wired correctly and the hardware is good so it's not going to randomely crap out on you. I'd never gig without a backup because I know I'd break a string, but I'd certainly play a one or two song set live without a backup. The strap buttons are about as good as it gets. I struggled for several minutes to get the strap over them the first time. Six months later, they haven't budged. These things are immense! Absolutely no need for straplocks on this guitar.

I've been playing guitar for under a year, this Schecter for about 6 months. The only other guitar I own is an Ibanez PF acoustic, but I'm currently in the process of building my own custom guitar. I went into Guitar Center pretty much set on an Ibanez RG, but they didn't have the fixed bridge model I was interested in. They showed me this after I had played a couple other Ibanez models and an Epi Les Paul Goldtop. The rest felt like toys compared to this (including the $600 Epi). This feels like a real instrument, the others didn't. If it were stolen, I'd buy something nicer, but if I had a $300 budget I'd buy this again without thinking twice. I wish it has a Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz pickup combo, but that would have pushed the price of the guitar up by more than $100. Other than that, this is pretty much perfect. If you're looking for a bright sounding guitar for jazz and country, save up the extra few bucks for a Fender Mexi Strat. If you want to rock out, you will not find a better guitar for under $300. This is the best. Period. End of discussion.

I play metal mainly, but it's metal ranging from Metallica (Chunky distorted sound) to Opeth (Clear sound, and plenty of clean breaks) but I play just about everything from Death, to the Beatles. This guitar suits all of it awesome. Before the EMG's were put in, the guitar was okay, but nothing spectacular. The EMG 81's made the guitar incredible. Both before and after the pickup change, the guitar is quiet, but a little noiser in the neck position. It has a well-balanced tone, not too harsh, but not lacking in high end, and because of this, it can produce just about any sound you like.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:6
When I first got the guitar it played just as good as about anything in the store, excluding PRS and Gibsons (But those are a whole different story) But just because it played like everything in the store doesnt make it spectacular. The action was set a bit too low, but the pickups were adjusted just about as perfect as they could be with the not-so-good stock pickups. The frets were filed just fine, and the only major flaw is that the saddles were like razor blades. The damn thing was slicing through all my strings (including the low E) like a chainsaw! But no big deal I guess, the local music store took care of it for a few bucks.
Reliability/Durability
:7
As far as durability goes, it's probably middle of the rosd. It's not falling apart, although after about 6 months of playing shows with it the wiring started to come loose, and the volume knob wasn't functioning properly. This of course was fixed when I had the EMG's put in, but could be fixed with very little effort and money with a little bit of solder. Everything else on the guitar is REALLY solid, except the tuners, which feel kinda loose at times, but havent given me problems yet. I would, and have taken this guitar on a gig without a backup.

I have been playing for 1 year now, but played bass for 5 years before i picked up the guitar. It's my only electric guitar, and I play it through a Marshall AVT150H, with a 1960B 4X12 Cabinet, so I have a variety of tones, and this guitar pulls all of 'em off great. If it were stolen, I'd track it down and hurt the person who took it, and if it were broken, I'd at least salvage the EMG 81's. Now that I have the 81's in, I love everything about this guitar. I compared it to the only other brand I was looking at that I could afford, ESP. I chose this over the ESPs I saw because both brands played and sounded similar, but I like the look of this one better. The only other thing I'd like to share is that you can hear a sample of the guitar in a recording of mine at http://www.myspace.com/darktransfixion I'm on the right channel, playing through a mix of my AVT150H, and a Marshall MG100DFX Combo on the track "Creeping Death"

Korean made. 22 frets. Nice carved basswood body. 2 humbuckers. 3-way selector. Cheapo guitar cable included. Rosewood neck. String-thru body. The basics...Really NICE satin, flat black finish. It looks AWESOME! The body looks a little thicker than an Ibanez or strat, and this may add more low-end chunk to it. It's very well balanced physically, and tonally. I'm very impressed.
Sound
:9
It sounds great for rock. I've only used it at home and haven't cranked it up, but it has a nice chunk to it. A 5-way switch would've been nice for different tones, split coils and stuff. It sounds good to me. A lot of sound is in the user anyway. I may try swapping pickups with some Dimarzios or Duncans someday, but the stock ones sound good to me. I think they're Duncan designed.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
WOW! The finish is flawless. Like a flat satin black. The workmanship is top-notch. I will never put down Korean guitars again. The frets are actually better dressed than many Japan guitars I've played, owned. There are no sharp edges when you run your hand up/down the neck. Very nice work. The action is just a tad high at the nut. That's a personal preference though. I will file the nut slots a little and it'll be perfect. The neck is super staight and seems very rigid. A bit chunkier than say an Ibanez Wizard, but still very comfortable. No complaints.
Reliability/Durability
:9
I would guess that the finish would not withstand heavy abuse because it is more of a satin finish and not a thick clear coat. But all guitars get dinged sooner or later. It seems like a VERY solid guitar. I rarely use a backup guitar, and I would feel comfortable using this one without a backup also.

The body shape is sooooo cool. If it were stolen, I'd track down the thief and see if the guitar could take a good beating against his head. ;-)
I looked at a few Schecters. I did NOT like the neck through schecters because the painted finished necks just didn't feel as slick. The body shape, price, feel and other reviews aided in my decision to buy this one. I wish it had 24 frets, and a 5-way pickup selector, but it's not really a big deal. For $300, no shipping, no tax, you CAN'T go wrong.

This guitar suits my styles perfectly, from Jazz to Jane's Addiction and beyond.
I use it with a Vox AD15-VT amp and a Korg Pandora PX4.
The sound from this is very full, I love the neck pickup position, it's smokey and sweet, especially using the rolloff on the tone pot.
The Bridge pickup is more than bright enough for me, I like warmer sounds, so I use a lot of tone shaping.
This guitar can be a Jazz combo groove box, and can crunch like a wrecking ball when you need it to..
No dislikes, I am more than satisfied with the pickups, considering its price, sure some Duncans or EMGs would sound great in here, but stock off the shelf it sound amazing!

The setup was very nice, a little high, but not enough to bother me too deeply.
The pickups were perfect as is.
The body and finsh are beautiful, the satin is flawless.. The finish job on this guitar was perfect, for such a cheap guitar, I would expect some mistakes and blems, but it is done beyond the price would dictate.. The neck and frets were beautiful, and polished to near perfection. Again, considering its price and the ways it's built, it scores high marks in my book.

The basswood body is going to be delcate in regards to dings and scratches..Other than that, it seems very solid and tight. The hardware is more than capable of taking some abuse..But then, I never have abuseed any of my guitars, they all stayed pretty much perfect, I don't beating my axes up.
The straplocks are solid, I would definately use this live, without any hesitation, is a solid dependable guitar.

No regrets buying this guitar. I knew exactly what I wanted, and walked into Guitar Center and grabbed this and bought it..
If it were stolen or lost, I would replace it with 2 of them, I would buy this guitar over and over again.
I love everything abput this guitar, for $299.00 it delivers more than could be expected in pure style, It has a solid resonace and feels like a much heavier more expensice axe. The best part is the neck and fretboard, smooth as silk, a nice solid size, reminds me of a Les Paul. I also really like the string through feature, sustain and tone like crazy.
I compared this to a PRS Santana SE, and an Ibanez RG 470.. Beat the hell out of both of them..
Just be careful of the soft basswood body, other than that, no worthy complaints...
The satin finish is hard to keep clean, body oil just builds up on it, worse than on laquer...
Bottom line....If you want a guitar for $300, go buy one of these, you will not be let down, these are incredible instruments for the money, I wished they made cheap guitars like this 10 years ago. One of the most playable guitars I've ever owned..
This is like a poormans PRS/Les Paul.. I love it.
