2003. Made in South Korea, assembled in USA. (lefty)
24 Jumbo frets.
3 way selector, 1 Volume, 1 tone, pull/push coil tap on tone control (I have noticed nobody else has mentioned this in their reviews? I'm not sure whether the tap comes as standard on later models, or this one is a custom).
H/H Duncan Designed Pickups. Based on Seymour Duncan JB and '59 Humbuckers.
Mahogany body with quilted maple top.
Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Creme binding.
Body style is a cross between a PRS and a Strat.
Thru-Body stringing with TonePros bridge.
Satin Crome Grover Tuners.
25 1/2" scale. Neck profile sits nicely between Ibanez (thin) and Gibson (fat)
The only thing that slightly bugs me about this guitar is the lack of fingerboard fret markers (it only has a 12th fret marker) as I'm used to navigating my way around the neck without refering to the neck edge markers (I play with the guitar quite high on the strap like Tom Morello). Still, I suppose it will help me develop more of an 'intuitive' technique!

I play everything from sparse jazz and post-rock to grindcore and experimental freak-out, but if you had to pin me down it would probably be metal the larger percentage of time. I never really considered whether this guitar was 'suitable' or not - I just liked it and it was the right price.
It only buzzes (pickups, not frets) when in coil tap mode, but all single coils tend to do that without proper shielding. As previously mentioned, the 'Duncan Designed' pickups are based on the Seymour Duncan JB and '59. I've no idea what the SD originals sound like, but these have fantastic tone and sustain for 'stock' pickups.
I can pretty much get any sound I want due to the effects I have (Boss GT6, Korg AX1500g, Digitech Whammy etc.) Stripped down, using just the Schecter and a Laney LC15, it still sounds awesome. Easily the best sounding guitar I've played to date.

Considering I bought this guitar from eBay and had it shipped from the USA to the UK, the setup was spot on. Only minor adjustments were neeeded.
I actually purchased this as a 'factory blem' model, although it took a while to actually spot the flaws which were two tiny chips and a slight finish blem on the back of the neck.
I couldn't believe how easy and comfortable it was to play. It actually made me sound good! Now I know what a proper guitar should play like. I have other guitars made by Westone, Shergold, Ibanez, Epiphone, Kramer and Fender. This wipes the floor with all of them.

I've haven't used it 'live' yet, so I can't really comment on reliablity. It seems incredibly solid and well constructed though (which is a rarity for left handed models)
Finish is beautifully smooth and neck has a 'played in' feel. I use several different tunings, so more than one guitar is essential in a gig situation, although I'd be confident without a backup.

I've been playing for 7 years. This is my 8th guitar and has instantly become my favourite, in terms of quality, sound, feel, basically everything. I can only compare it against my Ibanez RG470 (lefty) as this was my 'best' guitar until this bad boy came along.
I've got a couple of 'rare gems' that have loads of character and unique sound, like a 1977 Shergold Masquerader, but for all-round versatilty/sound quality/construction, the Schecter is the boz-boz.

Schecter 006 Elite, 2003 model, made in Korea but assembled in USA. 24 Frets w/ tribal inlay on 12th fret other fets unmarked, solid top 1 volume, 3 way selector, 1 tone. Dual humbuckers, comes with duncan design humbuckers (passive). I changed out the bridge humbucker with an original Duncan SH-5 humbucker,(also passive).Body is mahogany with flamed maple, neck is also maple (set neck). Colour is see thru black, originally ordered Black Cherry, but the wait was a cool 5-6 months, so went for the black without actually seeing it, am extremely happy i did, looks fkn awesome.Bridge uses tonepros w/ thru body.Grover tuners (satin chrome hardware). 25 1/2 inch scale, jumbo frets, does not come w/case, All guitars over $1000 should come with a case, sooner or later manufacturers will wake up to this.

My style is heavy, i tune the guitar down to 'C' and threw on some .010 - .052's and with the 25 1/2 inch scale, it handles this tuning like a baritone guitar, except i have the luxury of tuning standard if i need to. I play through a Marshall VS100H 100 watt head, 1960A Cab, and a few pedals. My other guitar is a PRS CE24 custom, worth about $4800 new in Australia, and to pick the difference between these two guitars is like the small difference between identical twins. Seriously i'm not sure what it would sound like if i had left the original pickups in it, but with the Duncan custom humbucker in it, it has a full and strong bottom end to it without it sounding muddy at all. Thinking of changing my head to a Marshall Mode 4, i beleive this guitar would come to life even more. The neck humbucker to me is useless as i never play in that position, so i couldn't really rate it, as i don't like any guitars sound in the neck position. If i had to compare the sound of this guitar to a another sound, i wouldn't, needless to say if you want rich and full, heres the boy for the job.

Had the guitar pickup and heavier guage strings put on, as well as tuned to 'C', before i even got it. And i gotta say the boys at Guitar World in QLD, did a great job, came outa the box exactly the way i like it. Action was perfect.
There is however a slight flaw in the flamed finish just above the neck pick-up, looks like something got in the way when they were flamimg er up, but i'm not to concerned about it, doesn't effect the sound in any way, hell even my PRS has some flaws in the finish. Otherwise beautiful to look at, and beautiful to play.

This guitar will be christened at a live show in a coupla weeks, i have no fear about it holding up. It was bought as a backup guitar anyways, i needed something that could handle finishing a show if the PRS shit a brick on me, i think now i might even alternate the two. Guitar comes with all good hardware, Schecter have not skimped in any way here.

Been playing guitar now for 15 years, over that time have had both lower shelf gear and top shelf gear. This guitar comes with a middle shelf price tag, but belongs on the high shelf. I'm glad i got this guitar before Schecter wake up and realise they could sell these guitars for a much higher price. I actually sold an Ibanez 540S Frank Gambale guitar to help fund this one, the ibanez was a great guitar, but this guitar suits me and my style alot better. Like i said before i would compare this guitar to PRS, but without the enormous price tag. Again my only gripe is, these guitars have got to come with cases, the guitar manufacturers have got to get together with the case makers and hammer sumthin out.
If this guitar were stolen, God help the silly prik who did it, but i would definately go another Schecter, in a heartbeat.

2000 model, Mahogony set-neck with the tune-o-matic stop tail piece and grover tuners. Not like the new body style which is string-through. Neck is 24 fret, nice binding, it's a cross between my mexican strat and an old Kramer stagemaster (made in japan at the esp plant), feels like a compound radius. Flat tapping is nice for us old timers. candy wine color finish has nice depth with decent maple top and flame stripe. Humbucker in the bridge, single at the neck.

I've used this through a Marshall Jubilee 50 watt on top of a Mesa Recto 4 X 12 w/ Vintage 30's, Crate VC30, Fender twin, and an MP1 rack with a Marshall 50/50 and 1960 jubilee GT75 bottom. This is good for new or old stuff. Neck has a nice feel to it. The stock pickups give this an 8 or 9 but with a Duncan invader in the bridge it really smokes for a 10. Stock neck pick-up is not worth replacing, it can nail the RHCPeppers "Can't Stop" sound through the Marshall 2550 jubilee. The Invader bridge w/ Jubilee will nail Green Day "when I come around" tone. Compared to the strat, it has a sleeker hot-rodded feel, less vintage but faster-classy tone none the less.
Vintage tones are passable but not as authentic. I'd say the ceramic magnet of the invader and stock duncan designed neck are a nice match. I compared this to a stock Gibson Les Paul Studio and was hard-pressed to justify spending hundreds more for the Gibson. Same sustain characteristics. Sustain was bit dissappointing at first so the bridge needs something hotter, at least to my ears anyway.

I play in a band that covers 50's through today and this thing can handle it all. Other reviews state it's for modern rock only, but I beg to differ... It's all in the amp. I use a 1979 Peavey Musician Mark III with this guitar and the sound is quite nice. Sustains forever it seems and the humbucker covers the heavy the way i like it.

This guitar has been with me for 7 months gigging now and i've yet to grab the backup for any reason. this thing only goes out of tune when people feel the need to hold the bar door open for an hour when its 5 degrees out =P. The finish will hold... I know this... my lead player has acidy hands and is wearing the laqeur off of his les paul, he's played my elite a few times and it's still holding... which is amazing for him lol. Strap buttons would have held, but I'm anal about having strap locks.

Play rock, kinda jazzy, alternative rock, kinda punky tunes. I play some clean channel stuff with chorus and some delay both with a pick and finger picking. I play quite a few clean channel jazz bar chords with chorus. Play crunch power chords with little or no chorus.
I play through a Peavey Rockmaster tube pre-amp through a Crate GFX 212 combo, through a Crate 4x12 cabinet. Have a DOD delay and stereo chorus pedal as well as the on-board effects on the GFX212.
The sound is great for me although my taste can can differ from one player to the next. I noticed that the neck pickup has a lot of low end. I had to adjust my preamp setting to one on the low EQ. Kinda muddy. Not extremely crisp. Overall pretty good for clean tones and finger picking. Not too bad. The humbucker is fine. Higher end crunch compared to the neck pickup. Both pickups together can get you even one more tone.

The action may be a TINY BIT low. However, I haven't heard fret buzz as of yet. Chords and notes are easy to play on the fretboard. The neck is smooth and comfortable. Not too thin and not too thick. The pickups seem fine right now. I've never been one to do any adjustments to the pickups anyway. Maybe in the near future I will experiment with this. Tuners seemed fine. Not too tight and not too loose. Bridged seemed fine. Smooth overall feel. Schecter does a good job with setting these up before they're sent out.
The finish is fantastic. I really don't want to play this thing because it looks too nice! The neck and headstock binding is flush with the mating surfaces, the frets are all positioned good. Some swirls in the paint, and minute blemishes. Other than that, I was REAL HAPPY to take this out of the box!

To make a quick comparison. I just bought a Gothic Explorer. This guitar is better than the Explorer. It is a different guitar and has a different feel. For me, the Schecter is a better all around guitar. The Gothic came all banged up and was hard to keep in tune. It's amazing that Gibson can make anyone druel at the sight and
feel on at least one of their models. It's even more amazing that Schecter can do this for half the cost! No offense to Gibson. I still have an SG on my list. Like with all guitars it will take a couple day to break this in.
All in all I am VERY impressed with this guitar. It plays and looks like a guitar twice its price, no joking! Schecter has it going on!
PS. I paid $529 originally but then found it at Guitar
Asylum for $489. MF was very helpful and matched the
price! The gibbie is boxed and on its way back home.

I play every thing from Jimi Hendrix to system of a down and everything inbetween. I think the neck single coil realy shines when heavily distorted for modern rock/alternative its pretty heavy; but on the other hand it can sound muddy at times when playing some Jimi, Vai, Van Halen. Its not very articulate with the tone wich can be frustrating if you play alot of lead stuff. I play through a Line 6 spyder 212 my PRS custom 24 when called upon slices through the rest of the bands sound with very definitive lead tone. The first time I gigged with this schecter the whole band noticed the difference, they thought the sound was very bland and shallow. So I now use it basicly for heavy d-drop and c-drop stuff where it surely has the punch to that the PRS lacks. As for the bridge humbucker I dont even use not that there is anything wrong with this one I just think that bridge pickups lack balls with certain guitars(i just set it to the neck and go). When played clean its not as bright like a strat its kinda in between a strat and a les paul(gibson) light but creamy I guess. But Im sure if I switched out the pick ups for something more my taste it would then get a 10 its wood has great sound capabilities.

Out of the box this thing fit my hands perfectly the action was low just above buz the finish was amazing, I gig 3 days a week and every night I get at least two comments on how stunning this top is. Compared to my PRS and Les Paul Studio the neck is alittle longer making the frets spread out alittle wider so it took some getting used to but the playability is wonderfull.

this thing is built to last even though its assembly line korean its a solid ax it stays in tune more so than any other guitar ive owned regardless of locks or what have you. It gets a 9 though because I've only had it for a month so I coudnt tell you what tolls regular gigging will take on it over a period of a few years. I would Play it without a back up if I didnt have the gripes with its limited tonal capabilities but im sure it would never brake down on you.

I play Through a Line 6 spyder 212 amp. my pedals consist of a Boss double delay, Boss Metal Zone, Ibanez smash box, Boss EQ, Morley Bad Horsey Wah Wah, and a Ibanez super chorus. If it were lost I would Buy another one or maybe the schecter C-1 Plus. The one thing that I like the most about it is the look( I think it gets more groopies than me) Althoug I hate that it cant be more of a lead guitar. Overall I think if you are considering this guitar you wont be let down, if your a modern rock player you will probably love it.

My guitar is a 2002 model and was made in Korea like all Schecter Diamond Series models. The guitar has a mahogany body with a flame maple top and maple neck. It has a rosewood fretboard with creme binding. It has 24 jumbo frets on 25.5 inch scale. It comes with Duncan Designed Pickups(single-coil in neck and humbucker in bridge). The tuners are Grover. It has a tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail that is similar to a Les Paul. The finish is black cherry which is see-thru. The body style is similar to PRS custom but i think it may be thicker. It has 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way switch.

I play modern rock(311, AAF, Hoobastank, Simon Says) and also some old school rock (AC/DC, Black Sabbeth, Judas Priest, Clapton). The guitar does all these styles pretty well although i think it suits modern rock styles better. I have a pretty crappy set-up which is a Boss Tuner -> Danelectro Flanger -> Crate MX65R solid-state, I hoping to upgrade to JCM 800 2203 reissue or Soldano Hot Rod. Despite my set-up, the guitar sounds awesome. The pickups sound great except for the annoying single-coil hum when usind distortion. They more of general rock sound which is why i probably will change them to a SD Hot Stack in neck and SD Custom humbucker. Each pickup sounds good by themselves(bridge may a little thin), the best sound is when they are used together. It is a hybrid tone of a strat and PRS(at least thats my opinion, so may disagree. Its is real full sound. It is well-balanced. You could probably get good jazz or blues tones out of it too. I really have no complaints about the sound except for the pickups generic sound but their stocks so what do you expect.

This is what shines about this guitar. The action was low but not too low just how i like it. It came strung with 10 guage GHS strings. There is a little fret buzz on the low E strings but not to bad. This stays in tune. It held tune for weeks. This guitar had no flaws on it which suprised for a guitar not made in the US. I was told the techs at schecter check out the guitars thoroughly before they ship them(adjusts bridges and pickups, even out the frets,etc.). HIGH QUALITY!

I play hard and basically beat the crap out of the guitar and suprisely i see no nicks in the finish. The finish seem to be layed on in thick coats. I haven't been playing for long(i only 19), but i know what quality is. The neck is small which fits my small hands nicely unlike my previous guitar(Ibanez GAX75) which had a fat neck. I compared this guitar to a Schecter C-1+(also a damn good guitar), Ibanez s-series(didn't like it), and PRS custom 24. I chose this one because because of the S/H pickup combo. While the PRS may be a better, I didn't want to spend that much on a guitar. I am not proficient on guitar and if i bought a PRS i would not be proficient on $2500 guitar so i bought a Schecter. Don't get me wrong, this fabulous guitar especially cause of the price plus it competes with those high priced guitars. I would definately buy this guitar again or may be something from the schecter custom shop. I getting more proficient so hopeffully soon i will invest in a real tube amp(Marshall or Soldano) and add a Vox wah and a Boss Super Chorus and put some real duncans on this bad boy to put this guitar to good use.
