Mine is a 2006. I have the black cherry finish which is beautiful. One thing I noticed on a lot of the other reviews on here is that alot of people were saying this guitar has two humbuckers. But the Elite model has one Humbucker and one single coil. I believe its the Deluxe model that has the H/H configuration. Everything else has already been said.
Sound
:10
With its default configuration this guitar is great for rock and warm, dark sounds. I actually modified mine because the Duncan Designed bridge humbucker wasn't right for my style (progressive metal) although it sounded fantastic for clean playing. I needed something with more power and punch so I swiched it out for a DiMarzio D Activator and now the guitar sounds amazing and has become my main instrument. The combination of the DiMarzio and the Mahogany body of this guitar give it great presence and the set neck rounds out the highs so the attack is much more like a fist to the face instead of an ice-pick. Think Necrophagist or Arch Enemy.
The guitar has nice clean sounds as well and the distortion cleans up well when you roll back on the volume.
As for the single-coil pick-up, I also replaced the stock one with a DiMarzio Blaze but I didn't really notice much of a difference betweeen the two. I can get some interesting tones in the middle or neck position with it but that pickup isn't really so great when distorted.
I use it with a 100 watt high gain tube head and various other components such as a rack effects processor and a BBE sonic maximizer. I do need to use a Boss NS2 with it as well because I get a lot of interference through the passive pickups from lights and radio waves, etc...
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
I had to lower the action a little bit when I got it but everything was set up decently. One of the things I like about this guitar is that it feels like a real instrument when I play it. The action and the wood make the sound very organic and dynamic so you have to have the control to make it sing. People who like the ultra fast and thin necks of Ibanez's that seem to make playing easier might not like this guitar. It forces you to develop your chops a little and when you do this thing can be a monster.
As for flaws, the only thing I can say is that the push-pull tone knob that came stock on the guitar was a piece of crap. The shaft was loose and I had to twist it almost all the way for it to have any effect at all(and the tone roll off effect itself was total over kill). I've never been much of a tone knob guy anyway so when I replaced my pickups I just installed a volume knob for each of the pickups: 500K for the Hum. and a 1Meg for the SC.

Seems to be really good quality guitar. Never any problems with it.

This is by far the best guitar I've ever owned. Once I made my mods to it, it sounded and felt like it was worth 3 times what I paid for it. I used to work at Sam Ash(although unfortunately they don't carry Schecter) so I have played just about every guitar there is and I'd put this one right up at the top with PRS's and Gibson's.
If it was stolen, I'd hunt down the theif, smash his balls with the guitar and then play a show with it.
The only think I wish it had was another humbucker in the neck position instead of the SC...just an issue of volume balance. If Schecter started making these things in the U.S. and putting real Duncan's in it I bet it'd cost up near $1000 so I'm glad I got mine when I did. Great buy over all.

I think that its a 2004, Made in Korea,24 Frets, 1 Volume, 1 Tone (with coil spliter), and a three way switch. H/H duncan design passive pickups, tonepros bridge with string thru body, Mahogany body with figured maple top, 3 peice mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, Transparent black finish, 007 body (like a strat, but different... and cooler), Grover tuners 3/4, 25 1/2 scale jumbo frets, I got it used with a gig bag and a polish cloth. It doesn't have a lot of features but it has all I nead/ want. SO it gets a 10!
Sound
:9
This thing does a great job of fitting any musical style. From death, to jazz. The fact that it is mahogony with string-thru, a set neck, and it has a coil splitter really boosts it up in the sound department. Not noisy one bit, from the low strings to high it goes from rich and full to a full and bright sound. It makes any sound you know how to make on a guitar, I LOVE IT. I am thinking of switching it to Invader pickups, just to get a little hotter of a sound. I don't feel like taking a drummel to this guitar for emgs. Emgs are why I am getting the Hellraiser next!!!
Action, Fit, & Finish

Mine was used, but hardly, there isnt any wear on the frets or anything wrong with this guitar. It was only played like twice and the owner didnt like 7 strings so he sold it. But he did adjust the action, when i got it, it was good. Pickups were right where I like 'em high bridge med neck. As for other hardware and finish... It all looks great to me.
Reliability/Durability

Havn't played live with it yet, but always take a backup. A friend has one of these, and he loves it and doesnt bring a backup. But thats his choice. Tonepros will definetly last. The Finish... I don't really give a crap, just as long as it sounds good. The strap buttons seem pretty damned solid. I can definetly depend on this guitar. But as for strings you never know, so bring a backup.

I don't like to deal with any company that I bought something from, unless I don't know how to do something. Everyone should know how to maintain their guitar. I am just going to give a middle of the road score cause I have no idea.

Been playing now for like 9 or ten years. As for other gear I currently own 4 guitars 3 amps, and some effects like wah, boss gt, volume. If this thing was stolen, I would bring a swift death to whoever took it, I would definetly buy a new one, if not another Hellraiser. I compared it to a b.c. rich platinum pro warlock 7-string, and an Ibanez K7. I hate Ibanez, with a passion. I choose the Schecter cause it is an awesome guitar.

I'm just giving an update on some of the stuff that I missed. The finish around the bindings is a little smudged at some small points and there is some black epoxy visible at the inlays edges, not very sloppy, but just thought i'd say. Also, the tops of the frets could really have been filed off better, they're not rough or anything but shof some scratches from hasty fretwork. The biggest problem is the nut slots on a few strings were cut too deep and rattle a little, and the nut was set in just a touch off center. Because of all the above comments and that damn wood filler that I mentioned above, I have to give it a 7...That Maple top is still damn sexy, i've reciever many compliments on it.

I an primarily a thrash/black metal lead guitarist. I use a Crate G130cxl amp w/ a dunlop wah. I also play some blues and rock. After taking this baby home and plugging it into my amp, I fell in love with it. The neck is wide but flat and didnt take long to get used to. With a high-gain distortion, this baby growled and roared on the low end then sang and rang on the high end. The low B-string didn't sound muddy at all. On clean, it also sounded good, but the real trick came when I used the coil tap tone pot and put it in single coil mode. It rang with a jangly strat-stlye tone. This axe in no one-trick-pony I get the cleans and the distortion from it. I love the squealing high pinched harmonics this guitar spits out...effortlessly. I also love the bell like sustain it gets. I noticed that the cutaway was a little shallow for playing in the upper frets, but I never do, so it didnt bother me. Note:I never use any drop tunings, so I wouldn't know how they sound, sorry.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar came set up just right from the factory. I saw no flaws on the body. However, I noticed some white substance on the fretboard (probably wood filler). A peek inside the electronics cavity revealed good wiring and the loose wires were even tied up. Besides, the fre board, the set up was fine.

This thing is built like a brick, The finish feels tough and durable. I would play a show with this without a backup, but i'd feel better with a spare. I changed the stock strap buttons for some dunlop strap-loks, they work fine with the guitar.

now here's where I get critical. I bought the guitar from a guitar center store. I took almost 4 months to get it to me from schecter. I had to communicate with the company throughmy salesman. Apparantly they didnt order enough from Korea and i had to wait. This was made worse by constant bad ship dates. They just kept getting pushed back. As to the warrenty, i've never dealt with the company for that.
6-for the damned wait..

I've been playing about 2 and a half years. Combinded with my custom strat, thats all the guitars I own. If lost or stolen, i'd get a new one, OFF THE INTERNET, not through guitar center. Down the road, i'll probably switch the stock pickups with real duncans (a JB-bridge and a 59-neck). No regrets for buying this beast, It'll be with me through many a show. Minus one point for cosmetic flaws, and long wait.

Korean-made, assembled in the U. S..24 frets, Mahogany body and set-in neck, quilted maple top, rosewood fingerboard, black cherry finish. 1 volume-1 tone knob, 3-way toggle, coil-tap in tone knob, 2 Duncan Designed humbuckers. Strat-type body, seven-string guitar, TonePros bridge with strings-through body, Grover tuners. Quite a lot of features for such a low cost. My only regret is really the pickups...if only they were real Seymours!
Sound
:8
Regarding sound quality, I have not yet tested this guitar on my amp (full valve powered Marshall TSL 100 head), only on my Line6 PODxt.
So far, I'm really amazed with the sound of this guitar. It has a lot of low-end, even without playing the low B string. Sustain is considerable, but could improve with the use of real Seymour Duncan pickups, which should eliminate some of the backgroud noise too (I speak of experience, because 2 of my other guitars were equipped with Duncan Design and changing them with real Duncans made the whole difference).
I play mainly Thrash/Heavy Metal, and although many people think 7-string guitars are mainly used in Nu-Metal (which I really hate, by the way...), this guitar expands playing possibilities and techniques, allowed only by the presence of the low B string.
Soundwise, the guitar is very usable whatever style is played, the distorted sounds making the Earth tremble, ever with low settings, thanks to the mahogany body. The maple top helps to remains clarity.
On clean settings it sounds quite full, full of presence, really standing out using the coil splitter.
Although I'm absolutely in love with Seymours, this is going to be my first guitar where I'm going to have EMG's installed. I don't like their sound generally, but if a guitar is a 7-string made of mahogany, they help a lot with sound definition. Still a great sound with stock pickups!
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The guitar came properly set up, with kind of a middle action (not too high, not too low), although I'm gonna have it set-up again by my guitar tech for a really low action. As-is, it's really playable.
Fit and finish are the best I've seen in a guitar for a long while, even beating much more expensive brands (G....., anyone). The hardware is really top notch, too.
The only flay I can find in this model is really the access to higher frets. The set-in joint,, though profiled a bit, is quite bulky, starting at the 16th fret, but I think is just a matter of getting used to.

I haven't played with it live yet, but the thing is built like a tank.
I would definately use it without a backup, but s*** happens... so just in case, I would take any of my other 4 guitars (2 Jackson-a Randy Roads and a Kelly-, an Ibanez RG, and a B. C. Rich Warlock Neck-through)!

I've been playing for about 12 years now, and I my current equipment is: 2 Jackson guitars-a Randy Roads and a Kelly-, an Ibanez RG, and a B. C. Rich Warlock Neck-through, all fitted with a variety of Seymour Duncan pickups, a Marshall TSL 100 head, Marshall 1960 4x12 cabinet, a Boss GT-4 effects processor, along with my homestudio gear. I would definately buy another if anything happened. I would still change the pickups and I still regret that the upper fret access isn't perfect, but no two guitars are alike. Schecter really won me over with this excellent guitar!

2002 model, manufactured in Korea, transparent black finish, 24-frets, 3-way pickup select (Duncan Designed). All of the Schecter 007 and 006 guitars are beautiful and sport a nice array of features.
Sound
:10
The sound of this guitar is extremely full and dark. Its top string, even tuned down to A, still maintains a clear, non-rattling timbre. You can get some very Les Paul-ish clean tones from the 007 Elite, and the balls when cranked through my Marshall JCM2000 at high gain are unbelievable.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The factory set-up job was decent. They left the action a little too low on the bottom (fret 1 "buzzing" on open E), but otherwise I made no adjustments.
7-strings have a rep for being bulky, but the 007 Elite has an element of playability that guitars costing 3 times as much can't match.
Reliability/Durability
:10
The 007 Elite is the musical equivalent of the M1A1 Abrams tank. It's kind of heavy, but that's a small price to pay for having a guitar that's probably constructed more solidly than its flight case.

24 fret, 7 strings, setneck. Strat scale, mahogany all the way except the maple top. Red/black see-trough finish. 1 HB and one SC. Sweet'n mean. Duncan Designed mics, I replaced HB with Dimarzio Tonezone. Now singlecoil lacks some power compared to tonezone - gonna take SC out of the circuit(cutting one wire is enough)to use microphone-selector as killswitch. Fat frets and black hardware. Looks expensive but not in fancy-ass way. c-r-e-d-i-b-i-l-i-t-y...
Sound

Like a Lespaul with clarity. Not very noisy even when singlecoil(SC) is used. Guitar is heavy and sound like one too, long sustain but not mushy in any way. If wish singlecoil was hotter, after the humbuckerswap it is useless. Stock HB is nice, very nice if compared to Iba**z stock "units". Stock HB gives some squeals at high volumes but we do play loud in mid-size trainingplace. 8 for stocksound, 9 after swap. Stock mics really ARE good ones(nicely potted too), I just wanted not to stick with korean units.

One big flaw: Nut is a bit off-axis or how should I describe it... let me say about 1mm of it sticks out from another side. First it bugged me a lot since I prefer perfection in my "tools", but at the moment(1,5 months later) I don't mind... It is plastic if I know correct, I am gonna have carbon-fibre one made soon. Finishing around the guitar is perfect in every place. If you consider the price you start wonder how in hell people pay big bucks for Ibanez or gibson... I have owned many guitars (Gibson USA, Fender USA&Japan, Ibanez RG's, Jackson only to name a few) and I must say Schecter makes fine instruments. Yes I am pleased. Because of the nut I cannot give ten.
Guitar plays well, i play '10's - tuned one whole step down.
I adjusted intonation, changed strings and that was about it.

Feel very dependable, thick lacguer, quality parts(grover tuners etc.), no nicks or dents and I play a lot and consider guitar as a tool, not some piece of art.. Schecter has hold up well - unlike my Jap Ibanez AX7 wich has dents and scratches all over... same thing with our second guitarist's RG7621... sure guitar has to have some "nature" but it should be in sound as it is in my 007E.

Effects: Boss Metalzone, -Chorus, and Morley wah.
My bands music tries to be the missin link between gothic- and nu-metal. Best 7-string i have played. I hate Floyd Rose and pointless solos. Nail balls to the walls with 007.

2001 model, Korean 24 fret 7-string. 1tone, 1 volume. bridge humbucker, neck single coil w/ toggle. Mohogany/flame maple body (black cherry finish). tunomatic bridge , grover tuners, maple neck with bound ebony fretboard with double diamonds at the 12th fret.
Sound

The sound of this guitar is pretty decent. I use it with a POD, and a coupla different amps. for the most part, the humbucker is pretty good. they may need to be waxed or something, they tend to get microphonic feedback when your too close to a loud amp. the actuall tone of the humbucker is, as others have said, "Middy". it has good bite. quite hot, too. you cant get a good clean sound ot of it. the single coil is a bit dark for my taste. not very "straty" also noisy, as you would expect a single coil to be. you can get a good clean sound out of it, but not a good strat chimyness, just a sort of generic single coil sound.
Action, Fit, & Finish

the cosmetics of this guitar are beautiful. thats primarily what drew me to it. the maple finish is flawless, deep rich dark red flame maple. neck binding is perfect. all joints are clean. hardware perfect. the only inlays in the neck are 2 diamonds at the 12th fret, so the neck has a nice clean look to it. the shape is interesting, carved top, with slightly chunky cutaways. One thing I did find out after playing it for awhile was that the lower cutaway is not quite wide enough. when you are trying to get to the upper frets, the back of your hand runs into the opposite side o the cutaway. not terrible, but kind of uncomfortable. the set neck joint is also a bit clunky. I thought the set neck would be better than the bolt on, but really its not, perhaps even a bit worse. (i tried a regular 007 too, seemed just a fraction easier to access the higher frets) the frets themselves are nice. seem to be level. I changed strings from the 10s? that were on it, to Boomer TNT 10s 10-52, with a .060 on the low B. i adjusted the truss rod a bit to compensate. still needs a bit of tweaking to take care of a bit of buzz on the lower strings. the price you pay for low action. i would rate the factory set-up a 8 out of 10
Reliability/Durability
:10
This thing feels like its built like a tank. Thick, Heavy, Solid. I would certainly trust it as my main axe. it is pretty stable, tuning wise. it is non-locking, of course, so its not perfect. but I would say you could get through half a set or so before you would need to do any fine re-tuning. the saddles are clean, so no repeating string-breakage. (i havnt broke one yet on this thing)
time will tell on the durability of the finish. I think the body finish will last a long time. the hardware, of course, depends on how much yousweat on it , beat on it, clean it etc. seems as good as any other guitar I have seen. Im not worried about it.

I have been playing fo 16 years, I have a couple other guitars, washburn, Ibanez. I prefer mid-priced guitars because I dont have to worry about them so much, as opposed to boutique or collectible guits. the value to $ ratio on this guitar is great. looks cool, feels nice, sounds pretty good. I would certainly get another. from a strictly physical standpoint, I might go with a C7 next time, as they are just a bit more comfortable for the left hand, but all in all I am really happy with this guitar. Not too many people have them, either, which to me, is a plus. Those Koreans are getting pretty good at making guitars
