I bought This model 2 Yrs ago so I guess Its a 02, 22 fret, solidbody, carved top strat-style, H/H, chrome 1vol-1tone, 3-way sel,,fixed bridge, cheezy tuners chrome, I guess the body is basswood (who knows), maple bolt-on neck rosewood fretboard, string-thru-body, guess its made in japan or taiwan or somewhere over there. nice and simple

Sound : 4
I play rock (classic, hard) and blues often I throw in funk and classic R&B. This guitar was not meant to play Hendrix. Ive never played a gig with it however I play it through a cheezy crate 15watt practice amp at home. However I did jam with it through a line -6 modeling amp I think a spider and it sounded kinda cool. The pickups are crap and the neck p/up keeps falling in I've adjusted it about 4 times. after reading some of the reviews I think I'LL replace them as well, cause their weak but not too bad for the blues sound ,but I got a Strat to solve that problem and that is my main axe for the blues. However there is some fret buzz on the bass side but mabe I'll change the gauge cause I play 10's. benefit of the doubt I give it a 4 for little effort but what do ya expect for 250 beans.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The guitar wasnt set up at all it was a floor model out of 3 left this was the best one and had cool bat inlays on the fretboard. like i said p/ups sucked, however if your looking for a bluesy -jazzy thing this might work. action was low, and after i had it set-up it stayed low but it went out of tune often mabe the gauge strings I had was the prob. the finish is a satin black which is extremely durable and withstands pick scratch nicely. a polishing cloth takes care of that. very durable.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
When I get around to tweaking this guitar the way I like it(new p/ups new gague strings and possibly new tuners) I think I could gig with it but not w/out a backup Ive already broke the b-string repeatedly. Finish is great and durable, the hardware (input jack)keeps loosening and causes static sound when it jiggles gotta go-gotta-go...thats a no no.( shame on you Schecter) I cant grade this one however I wouldent play live with this untill I fix these problem areas.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Schecter. Hopefully wont have to however some of their other models are very fine guitars.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing 5-yrs, I own a custom MIM Jimmy Vaughn (SRV older bro.)signature Strat which I love. 1 early model& 1 2000 d.c. Ibanez 1, a'68-70 hollow body Telestar E-335 copy, and an Ibanez acoustic.
I bought this guitar on the strength of a co-worker who suggested I purchase one (mabe not this one) because Schecter makes quality low budget guitars. Prince has 2 custom schecters (he didnt pay $250). I think I'd buy another one mabe if it was used but not the 38 spech.
I chose this one simply on the cool looks which are very asthetically pleasing and the feel of the smooth neck in my hands. It is light and feels very nice. I wish I had a '58 Tele however I hear Schecter makes a Tele that rivals Fenders so I would not hesitate to buy that instead.

A 2002 model made in Taiwan. 22 frets wit a volume, tone, and a 3 way. Got a couple of humbuckers that everyone seems to complain about, but seems just fine for me. Bolt-on neck.

Sound : 9
This guitar plays awesome metal and hard rock. However, it is only average for clean, warm sounding tones. I play in a metal band, and it's great for lower octave riffs and has tons of sustain. It had awesome crunch to start with, but i added 13 gauge strings and now it's even better. It's only average for lead and clean riffs, though. For that I use my ESP Custom Strat. It had some buzzing on the lower frets of the low string, but that was easily fixed. The rhythm setup is pretty weak, it just sounds like a muttled version of the lead setting. If you concentrate on heavy rhythm riffs, I would highly recommend this guitar. It plays like a thousand dollar guitar, but is slightly one dimensional. Great buy for the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Like i mentioned, there was some buzzing on the low frets of the low string that i had to get adjusted. Other than that, the setup was pretty good. The pickups, contrary to popular belief, sound fine. This guitar can take a beating. I've had it for almost a year, thrown it about, and it's still practically scratchless. I had to get a lock washer added, because the jack was always coming lose, which was a total pain. Same with the strap buttons, that had to be constantly tightened. This guitar is a looker, that's all there is to say. A beautiful black finish, with abalone bat inlays.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a good live guitar mainly because of it's weight. Like i said before, this gutiar is built like a tank, and should be good for a good 10 years. I would never play without a backup, but i would never play any gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never messed up the guitar enough to need to worry about it.

Overall Rating : 10
If this guitar was stolen, i certainly would try and get it replaced. This guitar is a poor man's Les Paul. I'll be playing this guitar as long as I play guitar, just because it has an awesome crunch and heavy sound for rhythm riffs. My only knocks are the absence of a lock washer, contantly loose strap buttons, and an only average lead sound. Anyone who can't afford a Les Paul should look into buying one of these. Schecter is a great up and coming company. They advertise great sustain and man is it true. The looks if nothing else, make the guitar worth the price.

2002, Made in Taiwan, very nice satin black finish and inlays on the neck. Mediocre fixed bridge. Pickups are okay, nothing special, but then again, why would you expect quality pickups for $200 ? The key is, the neck feels great and it plays well. No locking nut, but as you'll see below, that's a plus in this case.

Sound : 8
Plays extremely well - good tone from the wood. I have been jonesing for a les paul for some time after selling mine a while back. The keys to good tone from any axe are: body/neck, pickups and strings. This axe has a nice body and neck, and I put DiMarzio Tone Zones in it and .13 gauge strings, and it rings like a bell. Nice fat tone, awesome sustain, no buzz, and with the heavy strings, it never goes out of tune.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was good, but after I pulled the .11s off it and put .13s, I had to adjust the truss. Stock pickups were adjusted fine, but since they didn't stay in long, I can't give much of an opinion. The bridge is pretty cheesy - considering even the bottom-end Jacksons have nice bridged, this oversight by Schecter is pretty lame.
The satin finish is nice and smooth -but since it's painted by a machine, it ought to be. All the hardward is solid and stable.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is an axe you can beat to hell and it will never complain. Heavy strings keep it in tune, and the satin finish never dulls...because it's already dull ! The inlays on the neck look great, and so far the paint has resisted all dings and scratches. I'd gig with this axe in a heartbeat, but then again, I customized the sound to my liking.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. Hope I never have to call them for a $200 axe.

Overall Rating : 8
Real nice buy. Sure, it's no Les Paul, but it serves nicely in place of one with the pickups I chose. Cheap guitars are great if you like to tinker and look out for body & neck and don't worry about throw-away hardware.

I will say the inlays and matte paint make it unique enough that I get a lot of comments about it.

Well, for a first guitar there is nothing worng with, well yeah there is: See, i bought this one straight off the floor, either that or i pick it up in 2 months, you do the thinking. It sound great in the store, and it sounds not so peachy now. see the pickups in this sweet looking guitar suck! they suck and the whole 9 nine yards! in the first 6 weeks i had this guitar my pickups fell out twice each, my jack lost it's ability to hold in a 1/4 in. jack, and the frikking bit sof string sticking out from the tuners stabbed me 4 times once digging about 1/2 inch into my hand. Let's just say i can't get the bloodstain of my headstock! The tuners are great it stays in tune really well, seeing that i play in a heavy metal band i need a guitar that can be detuned and retuned with out losing the tuning ability and it's done that well. the neck has really cool bat in lays on the 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, and 21st frets. i believe the neckwood is rosewood, it's ok you can't slide fast but it doesn't slow you down. It's a standard sized neck nothin special. The paint is a type of dull paint and it doesn't scratch from normal pick use. ***Normal*** Pick use!!!! It has a volume, a tone, and a 3 way pickup selection.

I replaced the PICKUPS with Seymour Duncan Perormers and Batta Boom a nice heavy metal guitar. I would sugges tif you do metal slap a Seymour Duncan Performer, or Dimebucker, or Some EMG Humbucking HZ's. But better yet spend the Cash and get the complete Zakk Wylde Setup.

Sound : 9
Well with the new pickups yes it fits my sound perfect my metal is clean and my solos high!
I go through A Fender mos tof the time or i have a no name in my room. Yeah it's got lots of kick nad sounds best with the duncans in the birdge and the tone all the way up. A very rich and full sound with the duncans. Oh wiht the duncans from Metal to Yankee Doodle, Litterally. I hated the old pickups they could do none of this my instructor even told me to get new pickups he said they suck.
***********9 with the Duncans and 5 wiht the Regular they did some damage***********

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
It was setup for tiny strings so i slapped some fret blasters and redid the truss bar my self not bad sounds good with thick strings. The pickups were horrible the springs were rusted and they kept popping out. Everything was routed right. the only flaw it had was hte rusted springs and that was cause it was on the floor at guitar center fro a month or two.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I don't know yet i had it 2 months today

don't know yet

I'd give it a chance for it's price range and cool looks i would definitely buy this only get some new pickups that should be the only problem and to fix the buzzing just adjust the truss bar.

The 38 special sounded crappy with the stock pickups, but not plugged in it had potential, the low price convinced me to bring it
home I put in SH 59s , now it sounds quite nice.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The bridge was kind of cheap I had to shove some little bits of foam here and there to eliminate some buzzing, I think I will replace it sometime. The satin finnish on the body is nice and there are pearloid bats inlaid on the neck. The factory set up was kind of crappy loads of fret buzz but I adjusted things and its fine now. It took alot of tweaking but I am liking it . I also changed the volume and tone knobs from the big clunky chrome things to sleek black ones.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Have not owned it long enough to tell

A good basic guitar that feels nice in the hands, and looks sharp too.
It is a shame the stock pickups are such a joke, but if you replace em
this is a fun little guitar.

I just bought it brand new, so i figure its either a 01 or a 02. It has 22 frets, w/ a carved top. Bolt on neck, with a stat style, string-thru body bridge. Has 2 sad humbuckers and one vol and tone pot. Looks kinda like the omen series. Matte black, with some cool looking bat abalone inlays. no name tuners. The store didn't have specs on the guitar, but I would venture and say it is basswood, w/maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Oh yea, its made in taiwan

Sound : 6
I play everywhere from creedance to creed in one cover band, and metal in another. I play through a crate stealth 50 w, and an Ampeg vl-1002 100w. Both great for rock and metal. Can even get some decent blues tones too. I usually use my carvin in the cover band 'cause it gets every sound I need for that situation, but also wanted a guitar that didnt have a floating trem, which is why I bought this schecter. Well, it sounds alright(sounded better in the store), but after a bit of playing, the pickups are a bit weak. Not really noisy, but lacks bottom end and harmonics. So I am planning to throw some bill lawrences in this thing, and that should make it one sweet axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
setup and action were good. Nice and low. neck joint and the fret work seems very good. Neck is pretty thin and comfortable. Nothing physically wrong with this that I can tell

Reliability/Durability : 8
Never played out with it yet, and as of this writing have only owned it about 4 days. I wouldnt gig with it right now, only because of the pickups. Plus I have plenty of other backup guitars. But the strap buttons seem big and hold my strap tight. the guitar looks like it will stand the test of time though

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never contacted 'em yet!!!

Overall Rating : 7
well, it looks like once I replace the pickups, this guitar will rock. it stays in tune with no worries, and looks fantastic, those inlays are sweet!!!

For the price I paid, I am not at all dissatisfied. I usually change pickups after a while anyways, and since it played very nice to me, and felt really good, that is why I bought it.

Are there better schecters??? of course, but not in the same price range.
