Made in 1999, I think it was made in Korea. 24 really big frets. Solid arched top. One volume, one tone, 3-way pickup selector. Has 2 humbuckers (Duncan Designed), these pickeups are passive. Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany body. Grey satin finish (hence my nickname GreySatan). The body style is copy/update of an old Teisco Del Ray, only way I knew this because we had one in the shop on display. Floyd Rose Licensed 7 string tremolo with locks. I think the tuners were Grovers(very nice). The neck is slightly thicker than an Ibanez & but thinner(or about the same) as an LTD 7. Mine came with a gigbag, although Schecter apparently does have cases.

The sound is dark and warm, like a Lynch tone with a lot more mass. I play mostly damnedbient/black metal (http://www.mp3.com/Chapelblaque) with lots of synths and drum machine, and the Schecter fills it nicely. I play with a Line 6 POD, split between our live monitoring system and the house. Any guitar gonna be noisy with enough distortion, but it no more noisy than anything else. This guitar is definitely good for the modern metal type sounds, and despite it's darker tonality (think Dimebag chordwise), still maintains clarity for the 'funnier' chords I like to do. I like this guitar alot, my only real complaint was the arch kinda got in the way of my picking, but that's more me than the axe.

This guitar was set u p well, no guitar is perfect obviously, but could definitely take it out of the box, plug it up, and good. It even came in tune.....imagine that.
The pickups were fine, I'm not real picky about that sort of thing though, it's too easy to fix.
The guitar was perfect EXCEPT for a gap in the bass side of the neck cavity, it was big enough for business card. I really liked the guitar, and gonna let this go, but I work at a music store and it just bugged me that they let that leave that factory. I've seen guitar much cheaper tham this Schecter, with better cavity tolerances. So I decided to send it back(SEE Customer Support BELOW).

This guitar could definitely stand gigging live, it a rock. IF anything, it's actually a little heavy. Personally I liked that, but for someone smaller...I dunno. Flat finishes are durable by default so....The strap buttons are nice but I always use the Dimarzios, just so all my guitars match....

I bought the guitar new (traded for it), and sent in the warranty card, and after discovering the neck pocket thing called Schecter. I told them about the pocket, and told them that all I wanted was a replacement, I even offered to pay for the shipping to them. When he asked me why I didn't return it to the dealer I explained to him that the dealer a state away, and figured they(the dealer) would end up returning the guitar to Schecter anyway, so I'd figured I cut out the middle man. They (Schecter) proceeded to tell me that "Their guitar were the same, if not better quality, than anything currently on the market", this jerk further asked if "I had made a mistake".
I replied that I work in a music store (managed a guitar dept.) and I see guitars all day long, and I figured (giving them the benefit of a doubt) that I just got one that slipped throught the cracks.
He immmediately changed his attitude after that.
They sent a replacement, and the neck pocket on it was perfect. A couple of other used Schecter's have come through our shop, and their pockets were perfect too, so I really do think I got the crackslip. But their customer support sucks.....

I've been playing for 20 years, I have an Ibanez 7640, a LTD m207, a Fernandez Sustainer 7, and a Carvin v220. I play Line 6 amps. For some reason, I sold that guitar and now I'm buying a a-7 Elite to take it's place. Iloved that guitar, it looked cool, it played cool, I even liked the way the body was shaped. My only wish is that whoever licenses the 7 string Floyd Roses would fix that bar slack problem, my Ibanez bar has no play whatsoever, what's up with these other companies.

This guitar has a mahogany body, bolt-on maple neck w/jumbo frets. Seymour Duncan design pickups and a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo as well. The tremolo is not that good, way too stiff and the bar has little response. The body and neck feel really solid and are great for pounding out brutal power chords and riffs. Although I like the look of the body style, I find the shape a little bulky at times, and the skin of my picking hand arm sometimes get irritated by sharp cut at the back of the body.

The pickups are suprisingly decent for stock and provide good output and balanced harmonics. They are way better than the stock pickups in my Ibanez 7620. I yanked out the bridge pickup in my Ibanez because it was too bassy and put in a Duncan JB. I noticed a distinct similarity in sound between the JB and the Duncan design pickups in the Schecter.

I have to express disappointment in the area of factory set-up. I have been playing for 20 years and have owned a lot of different electrics over the years, and quite frankly Schecter's quality control is piss poor. I was shipped my guitar from a retailer and I could tell when I opened the box that this guitar was fresh from the factory. Upon opening my package I began to inspect my new joyful acquisition only to discover a major buzz coming from the D string. Next I attached the tremolo bar and the S.O.B. fell apart before my eyes. Apparently the person that assembled this guitar negated to tighten the allen screw that supports the screw on attachment to the tremolo bar. Fortunately I repaired that item, adjusted the truss rod, and lowered the mile-high action of the strings. I know these guitars are mass produced in Korea, but quite frankly I find this level of incompetence unacceptable. If I didn't like this model so much I would have returned it.

This guitar is rock solid and will do anyone fine who wishes to gig with it. Since I have repaired the initial setup kinks I am quite satisfied. No backup neccesary.

Haven't spoke to them yet, but wrote them a list of problems when I sent in the warranty card.

This guitar does well against my Ibanez Rg7620. I like the Schecter for crunching out those monster cords, and I like my Ibanez for shredding those lightning fast solos. I prefer the mahagony body of the Schecter over the basswood body of the Ibanez. I really wasn't in the market for another 7 string when I discovered this guitar. But I kept going back and playing this model and really enjoyed it. I checked out the other Schecter models along with the ESP and other Ibanez models, but something kept me coming back to the A-7+. Overall even with the lame factory setup it's a great guitar.
