This instrument of KOREA mfg was a leftover from 1999 I was given for X-mas 2000 by Tony Depetro (the companys Intl Sales Rep) for G-D (-C) tuning, I carried it almost continually and played it everyday for a year while there in Hollywood and L.A. Its reverse headstock
24 FRETS neck (to've been modified with the 7th tuner set in-line) was to be used for a Star-7 (G-D) prototype, and as it is so thick and not just wide it could've used a thinner profile (though more like Jackson than Ibanez which is to0 thin). Its simple pearl white
SOLID Alder body got covered with stickers from most every band there in ROCK CITY, also I heaped neglect on this one too as I lived on the BLVDs with it. The Vice President of this Company (E.S.P. in Japan) Shigao Takahashi has a good several photos of me with this in front of the green room after a particularly strange night. In summary it was the bottom end cheapest 7 string model and I hated that it was a Rob Zombie design, but it proved more resilient and durrable than anything~ very solid and reliable in rain and heat and wind and cold, I was surprised!

Sound : 6
The Maple neck was right for Sustain, and the Rosewood fingerboard for Timbre, but the larger alder body like basswood was too low-tonal, good for low B 7th Drop A or below (the barking big bull-dogs) but not right for the higher string G (.007) which should be ALL hardest maple! Still Birds would come out of the woodwork when I played it up in the Hills, its a singing brilliance that is HIghly addictive! I play sounds like EVH and styles like RR, sometimes getting into HEAVY muting and picking (vis. Metallica). The music I play is Melodious and Counterpoint Harmony oriented like the composers, and I emulate strings horns and piano (if not a world of noises!) while with the drums and Q&Aing vocals.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
At first this was well set up, had the factory tuning been retained- but since the higher string added to hybrid strings in the neo-tuning (7g,10d,14a,19p.f, 28w.c,38g,52d-c) was less weighty the truss rod required reseting, that done the intonation was flawless as I could tune ALL over the neck! I now use the highest output PUs available and wish this had got the Duncan Invader-7 when it was remade for Orgy that year, well their loss!

Reliability/Durability : 10
THIS IS THE MOST RELIABLE GUITAR THAT STOOD THE WORST CONDITIONS OF ANY EVER... I had to struggle with several rinky dink Ibanez (at $3,000 $2,000 and $1,000) 7-strings for that 7 years and PRAYed constantly for better, this one was a $300 model that prevailed over all of them!

Customer Support : 7
The company is great and deserves the top results here, except to me they were too hung up on stocked units past figures and the market to move forward and get ahead. I was EVER getting put off and it took a year and a half just to get the basic Star-7 drawn on the wood! Maybe the 'Glow-in-the-Dark' Schecter Star will yet come out~ I'm not waiting!

Overall Rating : 10
Only the Jacksons which were all present at the NAMM convention in LA were better than Schecter and ESP. I have religeously played the 7-string EVERY make and model since the Gretch Jazz and Fender Alex Greggory models and then ESP one for George Lynch (with a sliding PU on rails!) BEFORE ibanez, and have had them all since as they come out, with all the add-ons too... and If you want value for your money it is SCHECTER and ESP

USA made and what a dream, I did not buy this one but I did order a custom version. Has maple neck, rosewood finger board.I have not recieved mine yet but it has offset abalone dot inlays. I played the usa av7 at Mesa, it was sweeter than any other I had played(Ibanez, jackson, esp, etc). The only complaint I had was the headstock. I do not like reversed headstocks.SPERZELS ARE GREAT. So a month later I ordered one with a different neck. The list on the production US model was 2100, 1499 from Drum Land Guitar city. He ordered me a custom and it was only 100 more(listed for 2400).The tom anderson pickups are great. Punchy and have superb low end. I almost opted for EMG's but there is honestly no need to unless your amp sucks.

Sound : 10
I know the sunset 7 and the avenger 7, they sound great. The AV is a monster with tone. The pickups are tapped so you get any sound you want, single coil or hum configurations. Sweet Sweet lows. I play the low B dropped to an A, it sounded like the biggest bass guitar. LOWS LOWS LOWS.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have done some crazy paint jobs, seen the widest variety of colors and mixtures. These guys do it with style. I worked at dw drums and saw some of the coolest stuff. These guys are just the same but in a guitar. Inlays are awsome, colors are unique and the natural binding they do on the USA models are flawless. Action,, Low low low. Set up like a champion. You would think since you buy an american guitar these days it would be set up great, not true, fender, gibson, washburn, and etc. SUCK when it comes to setting up an instrument. Schecter has prided them self on making the guitar play amazing, feeling like a dream. I will never ever buy a guitar unless it plays nice at the showroom, schecter beat all of others I played at stores, the only ones that were set up just as nice were the tom anderson's at mesa.

Reliability/Durability : 10
My friend owns a store here in town and I have played on the USA scorpion 6 string, and all of the diamond series. They are rock solid so I can expect an even stronger instrument from the custom shop..

Customer Support : 10
Scecter is great, I have spoken with them and with Jason at drum city guitar land in cunjunction. They are amazing workers, honest, no mumbo and get you exactly what you want. I expect it to always be that way...

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 9 years, I own 2 rare starfield USA's.(6strings), The best guitars Ibanez ever produced. I am awaiting a MESA TRIPLE as soon as I get my 7 string. I play through marshall and peavey(DON"T WAIST YOURE MONEY ON THEM) I learned the hard way. Old Ibanez pedals, SM9 , CS9 , TS9 dan echo.(nice little pedal for the $). Electro Harmonix electric mistress, always seymour duncan pickups, except for the schecter. Theyre pickups are just as good.I have owned many guitars but have a hard time finding any that meet my starfields expectations. NO strat or Paul could get them away from me. Ibanez USA was great, I hate their japanese stuff..I will stick with schecter and Conklin for my 7 strings, if I even play 6 strings any more. No one steals from me in this town, I know every one. We call it little big town.Ventura Ca.. If any one did they would be in for it quickly.

There are not a whole lot of features on this guitar. It has Duncan Design high output pickups. The Grover tuners are great! It has a fixed bridge with string thru body. The neck is FAT! It has 24 frets and a 3 way selector switch. The neck is very fast which I like. It came with a decent gig bag, but how good can a gig bag be. I'll have to get a case for it.

Sound : 9
It was kind of hard to get used to playing a 7 string at first. I have been playing 6 strings for the past 6 years. Now I am comfortable with it. The sound is full bodied deep tone. Very bassy! I was always a strat man. Getting used to that warmer tone was rough at first. The pickups are excellent and have a very high output. I like the fact that it has a fixed bridge. I play anything from Korn to Coal Chamber to Tool and this guitar does them all very well. Can put out some good jazzy tones too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was a little high at first, but got that taken care of. Now it plays like a dream. Pickups are set perfectly. This guitar is quiet as could be.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Haven't had the chance to play live with it yet, but I am sure that it withstand the most rigerous playing. I would more than likely play a show with this guitar alone, but only with extra strings. Can never have too many strings! The tuners are very sturdy. This guitar could take one hell of a beating and keep on playing!!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with company, but have heard many great things about them.

Overall Rating : 10
Bottom Line - This guitar is built like a tank. Weighs like one too! If it were stolen I would find out who did it and beat them with it. Then I would go play a show with it. I'm sure I would do just fine. I have been playing for 6 years and this is the best guitar I own. I will definately buy Schecter from now on.

Two Dincan Humbuckers. 24 Frets. sweet looking diamond inlays. No tremelo. 3-way Selector. Volume an dtone controls. mine came with a cheap strap that broke. VERY FAT NECK. before this guitar i had a jag-stang somewhat hard to get used to the neck.

Sound : 9
I play KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Orgy, and other similar stuff i also love NIRVANA but this guiatr is not for NIRVANA. Sounds good for every thing heavy. I run through a digitech XP100, E.H. Clone Theory, DS-1, Big Muff(original), Small Stone, Electric Mistriss, and Uni-vibe to a Hughes and Kettner Attax 100 Combo. not noisy at all. very Rich Sound (do to the Big Muff Partially) very good for Harmonics. Not many dislikes except i wish it had a tremelo.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Every thig was good on mine exept the input thing came lose but i tightened it and its fine.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It is very well built. I would gig without backup. Pickups were okay. ACtion... every thing good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
dont think its under warranty but im not to worried

1998 made. 24 extra jumbo frets, diamond inlays, rosewood fretboard, maple neck, mahogany body with an arched top (mahogany i guess), 1 volume, 1 tone control, 1 3-way pickup selector. 2 duncan designed passive 7-string humbuckers. Fixed 7-string bridge (like on a stratocaster, with no whammy bar). Grover mini-rotomatic tuners. Fairly thin extrememely wide 7-string neck. Mine came with.. a gig bag, a cheap cable, and a hex wrench for the truss rod.

Sound : 9
I play agressive metal/-style music. It's like a mix of KoRn, Metallica, and Sevendust. I leave it tuned standard (B-E-A-D-G-B-E). I play into my Peavey half stack, straight into the amp. The guitar don't feedback even at high volumes unless i face the pickups right into the amp speakers. My tone settings are like bass 9, mid 3, treble 6. It's pretty quiet, but lots of gain (so noisy in a good way), and it has a really bassy full tone. Doesn't cut through my band so much, but it blends well with the other instruments.. good variety too cuz i can play jazzy style diminished 7ths and shit and it sounds good.. very clear pickups even heavily distorted. bad things.. uh not really too much.. maybe could use more high end, but it really works for me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
really good action.. the neck pickup was too high and the bridge a little too low, so i set it up when i got it. everything else was fine.. the guitar was kinda dirty, not dirty but smudged- shouldn't new guitars be shiny and clean? but i polished it with my cloth and it looks really good. nice hardware and all.. looks good too.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
well i'm not kind to my guitars.. i bang em around a lot and so far after a few days, this guitar has been good. i sorta bang my knees around when i play and this guitar holds up good. stays in tune. id use without a backup cuz no trem means broken strings don't matter. good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
dunno.

Overall Rating : 9
This is my 3rd year playing.. i own a ibanez too. I tried the ibanez 7-strings but didn't like as much and also i didn't want a trem, and everyone has those ones (korn, fear factory, limp bizkit, orgy).. i wanted something more unique but i really wanted a 7-string, so i went for the schecter. i'm glad i did too.
