not a noisy guitar, rich sound but screams on the bridge pickup.
I play all styles, but mostly dark, edgy rock, and funky fusiony stuff.
This guitar fits just about perfectly, although I MIGHT change out the pickups...

I was shopping at a secondhand store for a Strat or a Tele - didn't find any that really "fit" then stumbled on this dusty, neglected piece. I already had a Classic which i really love, but this one fit even better. The action and geometry are perfect for me. Actually i tweaked the action and set up a little (there was a slight buzz w/ the low e string) and cleaned it up put new strings on (D'AddarioXL .09--42) and played at church the next morning, much to the appreciation of my fans...er.. congregation and fellow bandmates who preferred the livelier sound.
All the electronics and hardware are working great.
I couldn't pass it up for $200

haven't been out but a coupla times, but have put it thru its paces at home - seems very solid. Plus most of my gigs (Not just church, but small clubs, coffeehouses, outdoor festivals, etc.) aren't real thrash scenes, so i doubt it'll get tossed around - and I don't toss my instruments around anyway....much haha.
Again I've had no issues w/ pickup noise, set-up/durability, or the knobs & selector switch.
Tuners and bridge are solid, good intonation and neck seems stable.

I've been playing since 1979, semi professionally - also have a schecter bass i love too... go figure... and also play drums - so I stay pretty active. I've played a lotta different guitars, many very high end instruments, and this little Blackhawk fits me better, performs well and suits my style better than most anything else I've played. I'll probably use this one predominantly, and the Classic as a backup, depending on the type of gig, style, etc. Th Classic may be better for the jazzier stuff.. we'll see. The most important thing obviously is that along with my tattoo and part-time cagefighting career, this guitar will make me look even more badass.

I play a variety of music, my tastes and playing style has evolved over the years. I started out playing punk, then it moved on to screamo and now its metal. Generally, anything with a tempo higher than 180 bpm and heaps of distortion. This guitar suits my style perfectly.

I gave it a 9 because i can't remember what it sounded with the original pickups, i now have EMGs in it. Nevertheless, from what i remember it was pretty good, was hotter than my previous Ibanez's. But with EMGs this thing rules; i'm sure its a fairly versatile guitar but Schecter has a reputation for metal-oriented guitars and this embodies that philosophy. The frets are great and its easy to play fast riffs, licks and solos even in the upper registers. Its well intoned and keeps in tune great, thank the sturdy tuners for that. For the price, its way better than the BC Rich and Ibanez guitars, and despite being made in Korea the action was fantastic and there was obviously a fair amount of attention to detail that went into this guitar (just look at the inlay work).

The inlays are pretty unique and kickass. Originally i wasn't looking to buy a guitar, but it was the boxing day sales and i was drawn to the finish and inlays. Once i started playing her, i was hooked and was hard pressed to find any reason why i shouldn't have bought it, being a limited run model and all. The price was reasonable and it was the best overall guitar in its price range in the shop.

I have a VHT 50CL and a Xotic BB Preamp currently, though in the past i've used it with an Ibanez Toneworks SS amp, an Ashdown Fallen Angel 60w and a Korg AX1000G and various other pedals. I can safely say that this guitar sounds fantastic though whatever gear you put it through. Cleans are great and when unplugged the strings resonate audibly, which is a sign of a well made guitar.

The guitar was very well set up originally, low action and well intoned. It has never gone out of tune on me no matter how hard i play. Made in Korea it may be, but QC was great; kudos to Schecter! I'd buy any Schecter Korean-made guitar if this is the quality they have on a "lower-mid" range model.

My only beef with it is that the volume knob became scratchy after a while; apparently this problem is present on all the Black Hawks. Its no big deal considering i just left the volume on max and it was a cheap fix; i changed out all the electronics when i installed the EMGs anyway.

I've gigged with this guitar several times over the years and it is my main workhorse guitar. It has never let me down and i doubt it ever will. There are some legitimate concerns that the basswood body is 'soft' and dings easily, but i have yet to ding it despite my rough playing. It did fall off my bed recently and landed on the tone knob, slightly cracking the finish, but no major damage. At one of my last rehersals i forgot to wear my belt sideways and the finish at the back was slightly scratched, but this will obviously happen to any guitar. Moral of the story: don't wear belts when playing!

Strap buttons are of reasonable size and are sturdy; no complaints. The black hardware looks great and should last for some time. If you use good strings there is no reason whatsoever why this guitar would not be sufficient for a gig without a backup.

I've gone though about a dozen guitars in the 12 years i've played guitar but this one is a keeper, so that should give you some measure of how well made this guitar is. I have been thinning the herd lately but i have no doubt this guitar will continue to be my main axe. Its cheap enough to abuse, but well made enough to rely on.

Currently i also own a 1996 Gibson Les Paul Classic and a 2006 PRS 20th Anniversary Custom 24. They are wonderful guitars but limited in their application onstage (or just too valuable to bang around), so i find myself going back to the Schecter. I love this guitar; too bad its a limited edition otherwise i would have gotten a second one just in case.

The salespeople at GC weren't too accurate about the specs of this guitar, but at the time i wasn't too knowledgable about guitars anyway. For what its worth, it became more valuable to me the more i got to know about it and guitars.

I love this guitar to bits, if it was stolen i'd scour ebay for another one in good condition. And if i ever find the fool who took it i'd whip his balls with rusted strings. On hindsight i would love to have had this with a 006-style body as i think its a unique shape, but as far as superstrat-style guitars go this is pretty sexy. This is probably one of the best guitars for the price you can get in my opinion.

If you did a blind play of this guitar and a top end c-1 you could hardly tell the difference, this guitar plays like a dream for the price tag! The stock stings (i think were ghs) were pretty good, not like those slinky ones you get in a jackson, i got some ernine ball beefy strings on it now tho.. maximum chunk!!

I have this guitar for a couple of days, and i have gave it a good hammering, and there is not a scratch on it, it stays in tune very well unlike ibanez guitars...

Schecter is a great metal guitar, but this can be used for anything. I can get a variety of tones out these stock pups and my V-Amp Pro.

I bought this used off of eBay. When I got it I could tell it had been sitting around for a while not played. Extremely dusty and the strintgs were rustier than I've ever seen a set. I put some 8's on this and checked intonation and setup. Flawless, I didn't have to do a thing except lower the action just a bit!

I don't gig anymore, but iI wouldn't hesitate to take this with me. You always gig with a backup!!

I sent an email to Schecter asking them about the Black Hawk since I couldn't find any detailed specs on this. They responded back within 24 hours and told me that the Black Hawk is just basically a fancy Omen-6.

I've been playing for about 20 years now. I own a Epi LP Std, Jackson Soloist, Fender Strat MIM, Ibanez RG340. I sold my amps since I don't gig anymore. Just run a V-Amp Pro through my computer now.

I've been wanting a Schecter for quite a while now, but have been strapped for cash. When I got this off eBay for $100, I was thrilled!! I am just amazed how much bang for your buck Schecter gives you.

I recorded some sound clips and did side by side comparisons of this with my Jackson that has a DiMarzio Breed in the bridge and a DiMarzio Air Norton in the neck. I used same sounds (V-Amp patches) and I could not tell a difference with the bridge pup and only a slight one with the neck. I tweaked my eq a bit and got the same exact tones out of the neck pup.

The bridge pup measured about 17.5 ohms and the neck was about 15.5 ohms! These pups are hot!!

The sound is incredible. The best sound I have ever heard out of a guitar. The solid Mahogany body resonates the sound like a dream. This guitar has an all round sound that can be used for any type of music i.e. death metal country blues classic rock etc.

There were no flaws with this guitar at all. Came from factory in perfect condition.

This guitar is built tough. It can withstand many live shows and the finish I'll never have to worry about that. The only concern is the pickups. The set screws tend to come loose leaving the pickup bouncing around in there. I would recomend getting different pickups like I did and it made a difference (The sound of the stock pickups is great, but reliability is not).

Never dealt w/ the company or had to deal w/ the company exept when buying it.

My overall rating on this guitar is a big two thumbs up. It's a great starter guitar as well as for the pros. I've had it for four years and as my playing progressed, the guitar was still able to keep up with me.

Don't know much about the technical details of kids - so I don't know much about the features, especially.

This is my first guitar - and I think it definitely has good enough features for a first guitar (and maybe for a later guitar, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell yet)

There are two pickups, both seem fine - play good metal sound (passive from what I've read). Not sure of type of woods used.

The action is what sold me - having almost ZERO experience in guitars, I could tell it played better than other guitars in the 200-300 dollar price range.

I like the sound very much. I plug it into a Fender 112.

Metal comes out quite well - it surprised me how cool a sound a 300 dollar guitar could make.

My thinking is that it plays distorted sounds quite well - you could probably make it better with emg-81 or emg-60 replacing the pickups, but they are quite good stock. I'm not sure about the clean sound - it sounds good to me, but other electrics may do it better, I don't know. I do know that acoustic - electrics much more faithfully reproduce an acoustic sound. (not sure if any electric guitars do that well)

I just went into guitar center to try out more expensive guitars - to see how my guitar compared. I was surprised most at how well the action of my guitar compares to very expensive guitars. Not necessarily better, but surprisingly close to guitars which cost up to 1000 dollars.

Definitely much better than the other guitars I was looking at in the SAME price range - stuff like fender squire's (or whatever they're called) and special II's, stuff like that.

I like the black (matte) satin finish. I haven't scratched it, but I sort of baby it. No flaws that I've noticed. It was set up quite well when I got it. It buzzed a little, but I think that's an easy fix.

The only thing is the volume potentiometer is starting to crap out - just like everyone else's. Except for that, I've never had a single problem. I do break a good number of strings - maybe once a week or once every two weeks if I play a good number of hours in a week (is that a lot?) - but I am playing metallica, and some hard stuff.

Play through Crate GLX 212. I replaced the pickups (Duncan '59 and JB and I can get screaming rock and roll and metal tones with thing thing! Also play through a PodXT Live, and I can get pretty much any sound I want out of this thing. Sounds great clean, Overdrive, or full blown high gain metal fury!
The sound is generally on the bright side.

The action on this thing is just perfect. I play 11-49s.
Came from factory very well set-up too, but with 9-42s (that had to change).
This is simply among the best electrics I've ever played, not even considering the price range.

VERY well built guitar. The basswood body is a bit soft, but solid nevertheless. I would use this thing live without a backup and wouldn't think twice about it!
There does, however, seem to be a flaw in the volume knob.

I've been playing just over 2 years, and this is currently the only electric I own (had a squire strat to start, sold it). If it were stolen, I would definatly go for a Schecter again, although maybe one with a more elaborate finish.
This is practically a dream guitar for me. I was going to chose between this thing, an ibanez RG, and a Jackson of some sort (don't remember the models, but I believe all 3 guitars were approx $300), and this guitar was clearly superior in construction, playability, sound, and looks.
Sometimes I wish it had a floyd rose trem, and other times I'm glad it doesn't.
This is a GREAT guitar.

You know; String-thru, diamond Alnico 2's are stock in this, tribal diamond inlays, flat black finish. For what it costs this is a great guitar for the price.

I play metalcore and Death metal and this guitar is almost perfect for it. The Factory Alnico pick ups are great and quite quiet. My volume pot (and 3 of my friends who have Schecters) was shit. It cuts out when I use it, but those are cheap and easy replacments.

I had to customize it from when I got it but the action and playability is just wonderful. Everyone who picks up my guitar says it plays so easy. And that is with 13's on it! Just remeber it is a "lower-class" guitar so dont expect PRS quality people.

Amazing. I, and others acidentally, have beat the crap out of this guitar with no problems. Like I said, the factory pots will go, almost garunteed but those are inexpensive. I have had it for almost 2 years and still love it.

I have been in multiple bands for 4 years and have found the brand I'm staying with until I want to spend over $1,000 on a guitar. For the price its the best guitar you can get. I have owned B.C Rich, Jackson, Ibanez, Harmony, and Fender guitars; Schecter is the one. Those others felt too impersonal to me and more "mechanical" if you know what I mean. Its hard to get inspired from something you can't connect with.

I wont give any guitar a 10 because there is no perfect guitar(or at least i havent found it yet).This guitar is the shit. I only paid 190 used and the thing is one of the best investments iv ever made. best guitar iv bought for this price. it has a very dark sound to it especailly with the 81. the only complaint is the stock pickups sounded like poo

satin black finish, very easy to gey dust and marks off of it. when i got it, it needed a little adjustments but nothing to harsh. my band plays music like lamb of god and shadows fall and this baby is perfect i especially like the neck and the inlays.

This is a great solid guitar made in taiwan. Its has satin black color. 24 frets a volume and a tone 3 way position switch. Locking bridge stays in tune like nothing else. Schecter pickups and grover tuners i believe. The neck is the greatest feeling maple neck ive played. the body is basswood(kinda soft) it dents easily. i should know after a few intense shows it looks like its 20 years old. C style body, rosewood fingerboard with some kick ass tribal inlays. nothing really came with this guitar i got it from ebay. best 300 ive ever spent.

Since day one it sounded good, but i needed more. Hooked it up with some duncans and this thing screams. Ive played it through many amps and got some good sounds through it. Ive played metal rock funk blues this thing could do it all. the neck pickup had a nice warm sound from the beginning. But the bridge needed some more bite, those duncans brought out the best in the guitar. But sometimes i cant get enugh midrange from it, or bass it varries. when it was plugged into my peavy half stack it gave a little feed back even with it cranked. Man with a crybaby u can get the most funky sound or the most metal lead its great. But with my Boss md-2 if its too high it makes nasty feed back. I just put the level down and it fixes that. Great sound either way

The guitar was set-up in the factory. I found it to my liking for awile untill i put .11's on then i had to do a little truss rod adjustment and i was good to go. When i got it there was a flaw with the volume knob. it cut out on 10. there was nothing i could do besides change the pot. i did and everythings good now. With any adjustments this guitar can be perfect for nebody. Like i said earlier the wood is really soft, and the paint is thin. dents and scratches easily. the tone knob also is wierd. theres no inbetween 1-10. i dont hear any diffrence moving the knob.i hope a new pot could fix that. overall it is a good guitar just needed a little fixin.

Man this guitar. I love it, its soo tough. its been through some crazy gigs. it is pretty beat up. but sounds great through nething. like i said earlier the paint is thin and ive only had it for a year and its chippin from the pick scrapes. The bridge kinda cuts the strings sometimes. if im playin really hard itll break from the bridge all the time. i only have a back up in case i break a string. in the beginning the buttons always came loose. so i took it out and super glued it in there and theres no moving for it. haha. but i can depend on it have before will always. i still love this guitar. even if its in 3 pieces. great put together guitar.

Well im 16 and ive been playing for 3 years. From many styles of music that i try to play this guitar can do it. Plus its a limited edition as i believe so im lucky to have one. ive owned a lotus guitar. And this is a really great guitar. well built and for the price i paid i fell like its worth 900. it has this cirtin style about it thats very appealing. I took a chance buying this guitar(ebay and all) a chance im soo glad i took. if it were stolen id be screwed cus i aint got a job or money to replace it. My guitar teacher has a Ibanes S series. very nice. i hated the way it felt compared to my other guitar. and his guitar is 800. If nebody is looking for a cheap but yet awsome quality guitar schecter is the way to go.
