Ultra Access Set Neck, Seymour Duncans- JB at bridge, '59 at neck, 5-way switching, Tone Pros Tune-o-Matic Bridge, Grover tuners, String-thru body, black chrome hardware, black pearloid binding.

Sound : 10
The JB and '59 suit every aspect of my musical style. The JB is cabable of some very hot tones but has a very drastic range it can handle. The '59 is very smooth but can be very warm or bright. Both are exteemely versatile. Both of these pickups have amazing clean tone, something vey important for me. The 5-way switching gives you so much variety with your sound. I played through my Roland Micro Cube with a Digitech RP80 and it is unbelieveable. You don't really see how good your amp is until you play it with a good guitar. Everything is rich and it can go from sparkling clean tones to snarling crunch to singing leads (think Eric Johnson). I then played the song La Villa Strangiato by Rush and this guitar can nail that sound Alex Lifeson gets when he turns on the distortion in the solo. Everything about the Seymour Duncans is perfect. I like the '59 a lot more than the Jazz because is handles clens just as well, almost better, but has a more classic rock attitude towards. I have found it to be a lot more versatile than the Jazz.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
As soon as I played it at Guitar Center, I knew I loved it. The action was perfect and everything felt so comfy. The neck is so perfectly smooth. Not a single rough spot anywhere on it. The fret ends are extremely smooth as well and there is not a single sharp spot on them. The Ultra Access neck joint is so great. It's smooth all the way up and lets you reach every fret easily, even better than the neck-thru construction on the C-1 Classic. All the frets are perfectly spaced and the bridge allows for easy palm muting. The only thing that was screwed up was the cover on the tone knob. It fell off while being shipped but we glued it back on and it's fine. The neck has the perfect width and thickness. Not too small, not too thick, just perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have only had it for a couple of days but the finish doesn't show narks or scratches and the hardware is all black chrome which will not fade or tarnish like brass hardware. It will definitely stand the test of time.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Everything I wanted in a guitar for only $450 dlooars. Thaty says it all. I checked every single guitar in it's price range and even higher. None of them came close to it. Blows any other guitar out of the water.

Features : 9
Mine's a 2004 model and it's been played pretty hard, but shows no wear cosmetically or structurally. Nice features. Slick, glossy black finish looks great with the black pearloid binding and inlays. The arched top is quite comfortable and allows the guitar to have a little bulk in the center for solid tone without being heavy. It's actually a surprisingly lightweight guitar, especially for one made of mahogany. The set mahogany neck feels great. In between a Gibson Slim-Taper and an Ibanez Wizard II in feel and speed. The heel joint is as good as anything else out there that I've played. The TonePros locking bridge is easy to adjust and the Grover tuners keep the tuning nice and stable. The Seymour Duncan JB/'59 pickup combination is very versatile, especially with the five-way series/parallel switching. The bridge pickup is nice and clear, decent for moderate distortion/overdrive. The neck pickup is warm and bassy like a 50's-era PAF. Very nice. Unfortunately, no coil tap, though, as found in many other Schecter models. This is a humbucking guitar all the way. And that's fine. Simple, no-nonsense guitar with sharp looks.

Sound : 9
It sounds great for blues and blues rock on both pickups. It's articulate enough for leads and has nice, clear harmonics on the bridge pickup. It's not really that much of a metal guitar, though. The neck pickup is very vintage sounding, similar to a Les Paul. Works great with a flat EQ and some spring reverb. Sounds good through my Vox and my Marshall amps. All in all, I'm content. It'll do about everything but death metal and twang, which is fine by me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar arrived in tune, properly intonated, with low action, and a nice, straight neck. I lowered the action a bit when I got it, but raised it back up after I played it a bit. The neck felt a bit bulky at first, likely due to the fact that my main axe was an Ibanez RG at the time and those Wizard necks are super skinny. But it's got a great feel to it, not too thick, not too thin. Great tone. It's set in, too, so it has great sustain. Better than most guitars I've played, even higher priced Schecters. That's kind of odd. Anyway, the fit and finish all seemed flawless and still does. Hard to believe you can get this kind of quality at this price. Two thumbs up.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is one solid axe. It doesn't have a tremelo or cheap tuners. It's all name-brand hardware. I've knocked it around a bit and had no problems with it. The finish is as superb as I can imagine for a gloss black. It's built tough. The only reason I'd bring a backup to a gig is in case of a broken string.

Customer Support : 3
Schecter's a busy company and seems to be hard to deal with, unless you're an endorsed artist. I've asked them a few questions via their website and never gotten a response. But they did send me a catalog. Anyway, the guitar comes with a lifetime warranty, as do all Schecters I've owned. But every Diamond Series guitar I've seen comes with a blank warranty card that is missing information that should have been filled out at the factory. But they make solid guitars that are easy to adjust and the parts are simple to replace by yourself, if need be. I'd honestly work on my own guitar before I'd try to make a warranty claim. But that's just me.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 18 years now. I own a number of Schecters, both production models, customs, and prototypes. For amplification, I prefer Marshall for the heavier stuff and Vox for the cleaner stuff. I have a pedalboard the size of Delaware, but I can live with just my Boss DS-1 Distortion, a Dunlop Crybaby Classic, and a Boss DD-6 Digital Delay. If someone stole my Artist, I'd beat them. It's really one of the best guitars I've ever had, and I've had some that cost thousands more. It's lightweight, it just feels right, and it's got a haunting sound that's great. I just hate the mismatched chrome pickup covers that didn't go with the black chrome hardware. But I've retrofitted my Artist with chrome hardware all around. If you don't check out the Schecter C-1s, Ibanez SZs are similar and pretty good, as well. I wish this one had coil tapping. But oh well, I guess no guitar's perfect.

Mahogany body, Grover tuners 18:1, set neck, T.O.M. bridge, rosewood fretboard, 24 frets, 5-way selector switch, Seymour Duncan pickups (JB & '59). Sweet set up...just what the working musician asked for in a guitar. (The only added accessory is the hard shell case I bought for it.)

Sound : 10
The Seymour Duncans on this baby do it justice. They sound GREAT. The versatile 5-way pickup selector switch allows the pickups to accomodate any music genre imaginable. The manufacturer did a great job in installing these pickups...there is no hum at all. By the way, Seymour Duncans speak for themselves.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The manufacturer was very meticulous in preparing this guitar as every curvaceous contour of this guitar is flawless. The pickups can be adjusted according to the preference of the guitarist. The intonation on this baby was spot on.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is well worthy of gigs as well as road travel. I know that if Mr. Vai was allowed to try out this guitar he'd love it too. The only other back up guitar I use in my gigs is the Schecter Hell Raiser because of the Floyd Rose tremolo. It's durable, reliable, and yes (Unlike other 10-12 pound over-priced guitars on the market) it's lightweight...(Your shoulders will thank you during your long gigs as well as your fans).

Customer Support : 10
This guitar was built so great and since there was absolutely nothing wrong with the guitar or the purchasing procedure, I'd say customer service is great because they know they aren't selling you a cheapie. If you want warranty, just say so. they're always ready to serve you.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a studio musician and I've been playing for more than 27 years and I have to say this is the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. I sold my Jackson, my ESP, and my Les Paul because this is the only guitar I'm going to be playing from now on. I would recommend this guitar to all guitarists young and old, novice and professionals alike because of its features, sound, playability, and lightweight comfort.

i think the black pearloid binding looks sweet, but when i'm on stage, it's next to impossible to see the fret markersin the binding. the pickups are highly microphonic, but don't sound that great for metal.i like everything else, really.

Sound : 6
i enjoy the tones i get from the guitar through my line 6 spider II and carvin cab, but it's not quite punchy enough for my metal band. i bet it would make a killer rock/blues axe, though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
to the best of my knowledge, everything was sweet straight from the factory. i'm not the best judge, but i liked it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
this is a highly reliable guitar, except for the strap buttons. they loosen easily. i usually have to tighten them after each show.

Customer Support : 6
schecter used to be great about getting back to me when i emailed questions, but in the last coupple of months, they haven't returned any of my emails. (it's not like i ask more than 3 or 4 ?'s a year)

Overall Rating : 8
i've been playing for 16 yeas and i've played just about everything along the way. i really like schecter products, but this one lacks the punch of my others. if you're going to buy this guitar, save an extra $200 and get something REALLY nice. Schecter makes some sweet instruments, and with $700-800, you get a very nice guitar from them or almost any other manufacturer.

This guitar is such a wonderful guitar and it belongs right alongs side of PRS and any Gibson guitar. The five way switching gives you humbucking bridge, single coil bridge, neck and bridge humbucking, neck single coil, and neck humbucking. with all of those different choices this guitar can fit any style of music you chose to play.

Sound : 10
The sound on this guitar is one of the best. With 24 frets to run about on and the pick ups to power everynote you touch you'll wonder why its not anymore expensive. The Duncan design pickups are great a 59' at the neck and JB at the bridge give this the power you need to play anything.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
everything on this guitar is great but on both of the guitars I own(ed) the black crome on the brige was messed up alittle, and the clear coating on the edges is a little worn off in one spot. To tell you how well built this guitar is i dropped my first one from the strap and it bounced off of a concret floor and it chipped up the floor. the only thing that happend at first was that it was out of tune. then about a week or two later I noticed it was chipping up so we sent it back and got a new one with everything they gave me from the first one. So now i have two cords and two sets of wrentches.

This guitar is loaded with great features like 24 frets, Seymor Duncan pickups (JB in the bridge, 69 in the neck), Grover tuners, tone pros bridge, body binding, 5 way pickup selector, and neck-thru body. It has one volume and one tone knob and a very fast and comfortable neck.

Sound : 8
Theis guitar is great for almost any music style except for metal. The pickup combination and five way switch make the guitar very versatile. I play jazz, hard rock, and classic rock and this guitar sounds great for all of these styles. The second and fourth positions on the pickup selector give you a single coil sound, but don't sound quite as a strat. the amount of sustain that this guitar produces is way better than any set-neck or bolt-on neck guitar that I have played

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
this guitar wasn't set up very well fron the factory. After adjusting the bridge height, pickup height, and intonation(very easy adjustments to perform), my guitar sounded muck better and played much better. when I got the guitar from musician's friend, the finish was flawless and looked beautiful. The only complaint that I have about the black finish is that it shows fingerprints very well.

Reliability/Durability : 9
this guitar seems very durable and I think that it will last a long time. I have bumped it into things a few times, but it still doesn't have any scratches or dents on it.

Well, it's packed with features for the price, but I must say the electronics sound strange (perhaps cheap components), even though it comes stock with Duncan 59/JB combo...

One thing though, being a mahogany carved-topped body I assumed the neck was the same, but it appears to be maple or some other bright wood. There's no info on the neck material at all, not even on Schecter's website, which doesn't even have a product page for this guitar.

Sound : 1
Bright & thin...not at all like a Les Paul or any other mahogany bodied guitar I've owned or played. It's even brighter than my HM Strat! LOL

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Pretty good as set-up from factory, but the neck/bridge needed some tweaking as I was getting some buzz...

Reliability/Durability : 5
Since it's unusable "as is" I can't really rate it as of yet...will have to switch out electronics (rewire & upgrade pots & caps) before I can give this beast a good shake-out. ;-)

Customer Support : 1
I called Schecter and the rep I talked to didn't have ANY info on this guitar other than where to buy it...pretty lame.

Overall Rating : 3
I've been playing 30+ years as a hobbyist & pro, & have owned MANY guitars ranging from a 76' Explorer to Custom Warmoth axes & this guitar, while a real beauty, sucks as shipped. The tone is sooo bright, thin & non-resonant it sounds like it is made from plywood...I've had knock-around Hondo LP copies that sounded better than this rig. Kinda sad considering it comes stock with Duncan 59/JB combo. I expected much, much more...with that said, I bought this as a knock-around to save my LPs & custom axes some wear & tear (my other knock-around is an HM strat) & this thing is totally unusable for me "as is".

If you're thinking about buying this guitar, don't. You can get Epiphone LPs new, or even used Gibby Studio LPs for the same price and they're 10 times the guitar.

Even better yet, save your money for a REAL new guitar...

BTW, submitted an honest review on Musician's so-called Friend & it got nixed & from what I gather they don't post anything but glowing, praises of their products...LOL

see above, all top grade hardware, should have a setting for both pups full power..

Same as the c1 classic without the vines, and its a set neck rather then through...for 200 less online...nice inlay, better then the vines

no case, or manual,,,hmmmm

Sound : 10
This guitar kicks ass, clean it rings like a bell and some say its bright, but what i hear is treble, so i turn it down and up the bass a bit...(.range of sounds you can get are insane....the middle switch position sounds like a stat, but much fuller body..the jb and ""59"" are two of the most popular pickups in the usa i believe..
it can be used for studio work clean and get more tones then any , ahem, prs or gibson...the gibson has more snarl, but thats because its a little dirter, the prs is less smooth..sorry...lol...no noise at all, switch is german i believe. pots work fine..oh, two and four positions are not usable really..

now plug is a crybaby, and a boss ds1 distortion box, and whoa momma...this guitar screams...If what you what is controllable distortion without lossing the base tones, saddle up cowboy..this thing will hold a note till next tuesday, and the harmonics i can pop just hitting chords is unreal....it has a hendrix voodoo in it...lol

i played next to a guy playing a 7k prs with same amps and i could follow his sounds all over with more substain...it has a voodoo thing going with me, i can't put it down, i have 5 extra minutes in the am before work and i am grabbing the guitar and ending up late...lol

i can make it scream, cluck, ooink, cry and sing, false harmonicsall over....its so strange becasue its so polite when played clean, but turn into a monster when you add the distortion...i use a old ass stage 65 watt amp with above and i can't go above 3 in volume or the cops will be called...lol...hey i looked for a year for this axe. i play bles, funk, rock, jazz...blues being my favorite....this is the wrong tonepot for this guitar schecter designers....

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
action was a little high and pickups needed ajustment, very unusual for the company..the binding and fretwork is flawless, better then some i played for 5k and up...the frets are perfectly layed, high quality, level...plays like butter, you can not find a better finish on any production, and many custom guitars at any price, sorry again..example, the pearloid binding on the neck goes in between the neck pickup, so there,,,,,lol...the rose has white marks on it, and was not perfect like may other s i played, but guess what, my friend with the prs and solid rosewood neck, very rare, has the same damn mark going throug the fretboard and neck, so, ...a 9.5 if i could give that would be it...that guitar was 7k....he said"" i feel like i been raped""....sorry again, lol, not really, pr who??...oh, the volume controls are smoked chrome, with peraloid cover, tuners are smoked also, very nice touch....neck is perfect relief

Reliability/Durability : 10
srrap buttons are large. would use without a backup anytime..finish seems top grade

Customer Support : No Opinion
wrote about the rosewood fretboard and he said use lemon oil as it maybe dry.....

Overall Rating : 10
i played neil young and beatles when i was 14 and sang in a band..was not playing for many years...If you are on the fence on this guitar, just order it and you will be glad you did....i looked for a year and price was not the problem, finish was, the gibsons are like playing a chain saw unless you invest , and even then. the prs brand, i played many ,re like very opposed to this company becasue they know its a premium guitar for very little money and it causes the value of other guitars to fall whem they are marketed....yes , it can from from a sweatshop, but, some made money off it they otherwise may not have at all, so..oh, yes the prs, i played so many, and for the price they are not even set up right in the music store, ...the guys says it will need a little neck relief and action and picup ajustment, after you buy it??sorry again, i almost did buy a used prs but again, the fretwork failed my tests and the neck felt like a tree stump...

YOU WILL LOVE THIS AXE.....200 less the then c1 classic and oh damn, the inlay is soo sweet, not one spot of filler, and i repair wood so i know evry trick....lol,,,peace.....

Mine is a lefty.

This guitar suits my style of music, or any style
I like a lot of metal, but also jazz and classical. You can get great crunch out of the first position, The JB gets a lot more punchy low end than the EMG 81 I have in my other guitar and I think the output is about the same. I've played it through my Crate GFX 212t and through an old all-tube peavey of my friends, and I am able to get a lush and full sound through both. I actually have been playing a lot more classical and jazzy type stuff since i got this guitar because this guitar is great for those styles, not that it isnt great for heavier styles, untill I got this the only other guitar i've had lately has an EMG-81 in it and those suck for anything but high-gain stuff.
I had always heard people talk about how great set-neck and neck-thru body guitars sound. I played a few set-necks, and I kinda prefered bolt-ons, but when I got this guitar I was sold on Neck-thru for life, every guitar I get from now on will be neck-thru.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was set up perfectly right out of the box, and it was only slightly out of tune, which I thought was very odd, because I thought most companies tuned down for shipping. The rosewood on the fretboard has some odd coloration on some spots so I had to give it an 9 because its not perfect, but it is pretty amazing. The odd coloration isnt that bad or even very noticable but it isn't perfect so...

Reliability/Durability : 10
The day I got this guitar I took it to a friend's house to try it through his asmp, and he threw a cable at me to plug it in, and the cable slammed into the body of the guitar. The finish did not dent, or even scratch. After I stood for a minute in shock I gave my friend a few good kicks, but I mostly thought it was amazing that it didnt even mark the guitar. I have only had the guitar a few weeks but I think that it will last forever. The strap buttons haven't given me trouble yet, but that normally takes a few months anyways. I doubt I would gig without a back-up but I think this one is dependable enough for it.

Customer Support : 8
This is a difficult topic, because I havent had t odeal with Schecter directly, but the company is 6 months behind and that caused me to be on backorder with musicians friend from december 30 to may 3. Musicians Friend even cancelled my order at one point without notifying me. If I could find better prices I wouldn't deal with those sacks of S---. I haven't directly dealt with Schecter Customer Service though, so I'll give this one an 8 for the delay.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 4-5 years now and have never played a guitar Ive liked as much as this one, and I have played quite a few. Being a lefty I have to shop around a little to find the best deals because most models made lefty are either too crappy or too expensive, but I found this one and its perfect. I've played a few Ibanez's, two SG's, like 3 different ESP models, a Jackson DK2, and a few others while looking, and out of those I liked this best. I own another schecter guitar, and I don't quite like it as much, it was sort of a learning guitar (an older 006 with an EMG-81 in bridge)I bought it cause it was a pretty good deal. I also used to own BC Rich warlock, but I grew outta that one pretty quick like most people. I love the Abalone binding around the whole body, its just beautiful. I also love the clean sound I can get out of it, and the fact that my harmonics when distorted don't sound sterile like on my 81 equipped guitar. If this guitar was ever stolen I would try my hardest to track the person down and hurt/maim/kill them because I do not want to wait another 5 months with just my crappy old 006 model. For righties or lefties I would say this guitar is definitly worth the money. only 499.99 for righties for a guitar that competes very well with guitars in the $1000 or more range, and even though they raised the price by $200 for lefties now, it is still a very good deal, better than any other deal for lefties out there.
