You already know the features if you're looking at this, 2 humuckers, 5 way switch, grovers, volume and tone. What more do you need? Made in Korea, it could be made on Neptune and I wouldn't give a rip. 24 fret neck with abalone inlay and a really nice meaty feel to it. Frets are dressed well and have plenty of meat. Came strung with 9's, I changed to 10-52 and felt no diffence in action. Finish is outstanding, mine's the blue quilt. Neck through construction gives this guitar a great amount of sustain.

Sound : 10
I play everything from Chris Tomlin to Helmet to Johnny Cash, and this guitar does a great job switching tones. I run it into either a new Blues Deville or a '73 Marshall Super Lead 100 and it's really responsive to pick pressure, more so with the Marshall than with the Fender (and yes, I drool every time I play the Marshall). This guitar will not sound exactly like a '57 Strat or '59 Les Paul, about 40k will get you either of those tones but it does a great job giving distinct, full, not noisy single coil and humbucking sounds. The volume knob is responsive enough to clean up the Marshall if I roll it back a little, then full up for distortion. I haven't found a dead sound in this guitar yet.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Intonation could have been better at the factory but i always set everything up myself anyway. It plays better than any Gibson I've owned in the past 20 years, my beloved '74 Les Paul Deluxe being the king but this guitar is real close in terms of playability. Only modification I'm doing is an Earvana nut because even with the intonation set properly the upper midrange is a little off.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I play this guitar live every week and unless you're throwing it across the stage it's bulletproof. I would never take just one guitar to a gig, but this Schecter is more than capable of long-term durability.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing 38 years, have a bunch of other gear and this C1 is hands down the best purchase I've made in a while. If it were stolen I would buy another right after kicking somebody's *** for stealing it. My favorite thing about the guitar is its sustain, and the pickups - God bless Seymour Duncan. Schecter may be frowned upon by those who can spend unlimited money on their stuff, but as a working musician with four mouths to feed I can tell you that I would put this guitar up against anything Gibson has put out in the last decade. You will not regret purcasing this instrument.

Guitar has 24 frets and sounds solid and tight - suits my music just fine. Is not a Fender replacement - it is a Les Paul replacement though.

Sounds great - the tone in all five positions the Tone is solid, in every switch setting (bridge, bridge tapped, bridge/neck, neck tapped, neck)

Using my Pevey Ultra Plus (Marshall is sitting in waiting) but all my tests are done with the Ultra Plus. Peavey Sheffield Cab. VVT Amps and Marshall 1960A Cabinet.

Noiseless

Currently no dislikes for tone!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Got the guitar in a trade so unknown about the original setup but the guy I got it from doesn't play so I suspect its Factory setup. Heck the strings fell like they are 5 years old. Action was dialed in for me - low and fast. Pups setup very well.

Quilted matched top is slightly off but only to the trained eye. The string ferrells are fine on top but have some finish chips on the back.

Ferrels and the finish chips is the only flaw I've been able ti find.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Grover Tuners, tune-o-matic adjustable bridge with string through - solid as a rock!!

The through neck is going nowhere. the only this that could happen is if I drop the thing and the headstock snaps off!!

The Finish is standard Korean depth so it may have issues but it's fine to me.

The heel strap botton was in a bag when I got the guitar and seems to work after I put it back on the guitar - I replace these with Strap locks and big screws anyways

I could gig without a backup but I like to have multiple guitars for the fun.

Been playing since 1980, Own more than 10 guitars, two amps and many pedals and other gear. This guitar trade is a win-win for both of us.

If stolen I would have to buy something else becuase I couldn't afford it.

Love the look, playability, tone. Favorite feature is the Vine inlays!!

Not fond of gold hardware - but it'll do.

Compared to Strat, Tele, RG, Les Paul and this thing is great but different.

I wish it had a FLoyd Rose Locking Trem - Otherwise it's exactly what is should be.

I don't know about the indonesian or chinese Schecters, but this guitar is very nice and has the right pickups for me. It looks great, plays great and sounds great, stays in tune and sounds tight.

Tune-O-Matic, H/H, 25 frets, Mahogany body, neck-thru, 5-way switch, etc.

Sound : 7
The guitar is fairly versatile. It's full, although a bit muddy at times in the neck, so much tweaking is needed for a wide range of sounds but it is possible to have a diverse playing style with it. I can play metal, blues, jazz, etc. Overall, the sound is good. Do not expect to bend very much, however, it is very prone to going out of tune on bending.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The action was high. I adjusted it (the bridge is NOT durable!). The neck can get very sticky.

Reliability/Durability : 1
This is why the guitar is priced so low. Mine lasted for about 2 years. The bridge is cheap aluminum. If you do any adjustments, no matter how careful, you will strip the screws. The jack comes loose after a fair bit of play. The plastic 5-way switch has a short, causing loss of power to the humbuckers. The frets have worn down (after only 2 years!). The frets, screws, and all other metal parts, except for tuners, have quite a bit of rust.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I just didn't bother to contact them. I don't think refretting is covered and I certainly don't want to send it to them so they could replace the cheap parts with the same crappy parts.

Overall Rating : 5
I've been playing for nearly 10 years. I got the schecter as a cheap playtoy. It's just that. If it were lost or stolen, I'd just move on to something else. I like that it's fairly versatile but it's just too cheap to do anything worthwhile on. I used to play it a lot for practicing at home until I recently replaced it.

neck thourgh mahogony with a quilted maple top 25.5" scale, vine of life inlay rosewood fingerboard ,Seymour Duncan SH-4& Sh-2n pickups, tonepros thru-body bridge GROVER TUNERS( listed as Schecter locking on the websites, but ive seen around 40 C-1 Classics and NONE of them Have the locking tuners) transparent blue.

i own 18 guitars and i beleive that this is my favorite. i just "FITS" in my hands and it plays so flawlessly. SCHECTER FTW!!!!!!!!!

Sound : 10
The sound Quality of this thing blows me away. i expected a decent guitar for the money but i didnt expect this. i have 2 Les paul customs and this Guitar surpasses them by FAR. i play through a PODXT, & a Bogner Alchemist for recording at home, on the rare occasion i gig, i play the Bogner Head through a Line6 4x12 cab with a Keely modded Ts-808. the only thing that i would improve is it doesnt seem to pick up Pinch Harmonics as well as it should, as the "sweet spot" is hard to find. great for any style From Blues to Black Metal, a Strat is the only better player in the blues games IMO

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the guitar wa great, needed to be set up for Intonation, but thats all,ive never bought a guitar that didnt need some tweaking

Reliability/Durability : 10
iv e only had it a few months , so far so good, u can never gig witout a backup guitar though

Features : 9
my guitar was made in 2004 in south korea. 24 frets, 2-knob sound and treble, good finish. excellent sound.

Sound : 10
the c-1 classic is a remarkably versatile guitar. great for jazz to metal and everything in between. I used it with a marshall 15w solid state which sounds phenomenal and with a roland microcube, which sound especially good with all the effects. usually doesnt make much humming or feedback. no complaints with the sound though sometimes it doesnt have the sustain that i'd want, thats probably more of a product of the action than the guitars sound. i tried this guitar on a marshall jcm 2000 series half stack and the sound rivaled a gibson easily.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the action came a little high although it's very easy to adjust on a schecter. i lowered mine a bit which caused a very slight buzzing on the first fret, but definitely worth it for the lower action. the pickups were set up nicely. there are 5 settings, a couple of them sound much like a strat, but the neck and bridge alone sound rather smooth themselves.

Reliability/Durability : 10
easily can withstand gigging. buy this guitar and you probably will never need to buy another soild body in your life.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never need them.

Overall Rating : 10
buy this guitar, but make sure you play the one you're getting because sometimes the feel changes from one guitar to another, even if they're the same model.

2003 C-1 Classic -Lefty. I bouth this new and have been giggin with it since. Comes with 2 Seymour Duncans, gold hardware, quilt top, tune-o-matic bridge and grover tuners. 5 way switch adds an incredible amount of versatility.
I submitted a review when I first got this guitar, but realized over the past 6 years that it continues to be my preferred guitar for playability and sound even with an American Deluxe Strat, a Standard Tele, and an Epi Dot in my arsenal. I think it deserves a follow up review just based on how well it has held up and how it continues to be my first choice gig after gig.

Sound : 10
I know the Schecters are touted as the preferred choice for hard and heavy groups (i.e. Slipknot), but I play only praise and worship and can't find another guitar with as rich sound, better sustain, or ease of playability as this guitar. I can't pass up on a good thing and if that means putting the preferred weapon of the unchurched rockers to use, then so be it.
I have read some reviews that bash the pots on this guitar, but I haven't found any pots on any of my guitars to be any better straight from the factory. I woudl bet that these reviewers say the same thing about all their guitars. My (15 year +)experience has been to turn up the tone on any guitar all the way and dial in the EQ at the amp. Same thing on the volume. Turn it up to 8 and regulate volume with a good quality (Ernie Ball?) volume pedal.

I play it clean through my Marshall DSL401 with a little delay and vibrato and it sounds like it was made for praise music. Add a little Fulltone OCD overdrive and think "Third Day". It covers electric praise music like no other guitar I have owned.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar was set up well at the factory. However, I am a tweaker and had to make a few minor adjustments to the neck and intonation. This is my hang up and I do it with all my guitars. There were absolutely no flaws on the finish and the PU were adjusted perfectly. Great job Schecter!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have had the usual problems with all my guitars over the years; dirty pots, jacks loosening, etc. But not with my Schecter. I have been playing it hard for over 6 years now and it has held up better than ANY of my other guitars (Fender, Ernie Ball, Epiphone, Dean, and an old DeArmond). I would leave for a gig with this as my only electric guitar and not worry about failure - not bad for a guy with OCD tendencies.

Customer Support : No Opinion
NA - no problems, no need to contact them.

Overall Rating : 10
I have traded gear and owned several brands, and types of guitars over the years, but have decided I will always have a Schecter of some type in my arsenal.
This thing is made for beautiful music.

Bought this a couple years ago, made in Korea, set-up in US
Heritage (brown) burst quilt maple, gold hardware.
Very solid specs for such a budget axe, bridge and Grovers are industry standard, pickups are great, but some may desire different sounds.
Neck-thru ply-neck makes this stand out against guitars in the 3 to 4 thousand $ range.
Cheap-o switchgear makes me frown, but not shocked. Worthless pots, LOUD pup selector.

Sound : 9
Very nice for mellow blues, jazz-fusion, some country twang. Not enough bite from neck, too much twang at bridge for me. It could certainly cover a wide range, but I couldn't find "the Tone" until I swapped out pups for BurstBuckers. Great sustain, great resonance in your hands. The snap and sustain make you wonder if it's not built out of a railroad truss with steel reinforcement. Did I mention the sustain?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Phenomenal set-up for an overseas guitar; having them built abroad for cheap and ironing them out in Cali is a great way for Schecter to go. Intonation needed a tweak, but was light years ahead of anything I've bought from Gibsons to Fender to Guild. I always wondered why a $3000 hand built custom Les Paul needed a $100 set-up before it was playable... I guess it's just the manufacturer.
Finish looks ok, I'm not in love with the color. I was digging the darker fade, but its a flatter brown than I'd like. The quilt is unanimously agreed to be gorgeous, but more than one person has likened the color to, um, poop. Vine of life inlay is super cool, a really stand-out gem for any fretboard. No worries for you guys who "follow the dots", the curls and leaves seem to be put in places that make the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, etc. frets unmistakable. To me at least...

Reliability/Durability : 7
Electrically, I doubt it will ever fail. The pots are cheap and useless, but at least they're built like tanks. Even the jack hasn't budged, something I have never seen before.

Gold finish on hardware sucks. What didn't polish off immediately has started to corrode in a highly ugly and damaging way. Maybe I sweat a lot, but this thing will need a new tailpiece very soon. At first I thought it would look cool and more "vintage", but now my saddles are siezed and the string ferrules have damaged the finish. Meh. At least the clearcoat has held up well, although I did wear straight into the soft wood on back with 2 years of heavy belt-buckle abuse!

Stays in tune for a whole gig.
-Odd note: I don't know how/why, but the tuning seems VERY susceptible to temperature fluctuation. I mean, I tune before I play it anyway, obviously, but even a quick walk from warm van to cold street to warm club is enough to drop this thing a whole step. Not a problem, really, but never seen it so extreme...

All in all, it really is incredibly solid. Wouldn't ever gig without a backup, but I think my back-up for this would collect a lot of dust!

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. Never needed or cared to call.

Overall Rating : 8
Overall, I really do love this thing. It's not my dream guitar, but I'm convinced this saved my musical life. It's kept me onstage through thick and thin. When times are good, she does the dirty work so the $$$ axes can rest and be babied, and when times are tight, she can still wail and scream long after the babies are sold for rent money. It doesn't quite have the fit and finish of a PRS, but that's basically what it is: a poor man's Custom 24. PRS wishes they had a neck this alive. If it got stolen, I wouldn't care, they're cheap enough to just go get another one, which I would do immediately. :)

Neck-thru const. Semour Duncan pickups. Tone Pros TOM style bridge. String-thru. Five way switching. Grover tuners.

Sound : 10
I usually play on the clean channel and the tone (or lack of it) of the guitar I'm using really stands out. The neck-thru const. and mahogany body of this Schecter really generate resonance and sustain. You can feel the vibrations against your body without amplification. The five way switch allows you to get as thick a sound as you like, but also some nice sparkly Fender-esque sounds. The guitar has no hum and the controls work quietly and smoothly.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The nut was cut well. The frets are wonderfully finished and ready to play. The action is low with no fret-buzz. I did have to adjust the intonation, but it was easily accomplished.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I giged with this guitar the day I bought it and it has never let me down in a live setting. The finish is durable. The const. of the guitar is extremely solid. This guitar will last a lifetime.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't needed them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 20 years. I have experience playing in church, garage bands, and jazz ensembles at the high school and college level. I own or have owned American Gibsons and Fenders and an Ibanez Prestige. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this Schecter makes all of the other electric guitars I've owned seem like toys. This guitar looks and sounds so beautiful that I will never be able to accurately describe it to you. Go to a store and play one. Just be prepared to spend some money, becasue if you pick this baby up you won't be able to let it go.

Without doubt the best guitar purchase I've ever made.

The guitar is perfect, you only have to upgrade some electronics.

Sound : 10
It sounds great, easy to play, very versatile.

I replaced the strap buttons with the Schaller Strap Locks, the 5-way selector with a Shaller megaswitch, the tone and volume knobs and the jack.

This is all you have to do to have an almost perfect guitar!

A back up is always a good idea on a gig, but yes, you could depend on this guitar. I never broke a string, it stays in tune...always on top!

A 10 of course!

For a perfect guitar you have to spend a lot of money: I would choose a PRS Custom 22 10Top...at least ??? 3.000 here in Italy.

But for an almost perfect guotar choose the C1!!! ??? 700 + ??? 130 to replace electronics and you are done! I spent a lot more on my American std Strato, for example.

This little wonder have the right pick ups, is well manifactured, properly set-up and looks beautiful!

Review is for a 2007 Schecter C-1 Classic.

Here are the features, from the manufacturer's catalog:
CONSTRUCTION/SCALE: Neck-Thru /25.5???
BODY: Mahogany w/ Quilted Maple
NECK/FINGERBOARD: Multi-Ply Maple & Walnut/Rosewood
FRETS: 24 Jumbo
INLAYS: ???Vine of Life???
PICKUPS: Seymour Duncan JB (SH-4)
& Jazz (SH-2n)
ELECTRONICS: Vol/Tone/5-Way Mega
BRIDGE: TonePros TOM w/ thru-body
BINDING: Creme (neck/headstock)
TUNERS: Grover
HARDWARE: Satin Gold
COLOR: Antique Amber (ANTQ)

Pickup selector, as others have mentioned, is wired so as to allow for a wide range of tonal options from the two humbuckers. The guitar is beautiful, with excellent workmanship evident at all points. After reading some of the reviews mentioning problem solder joints I opened it up, pleasantly surprised to see good joints all around, and very tight workmanship even in the cavities. Machine cut, I'm sure, but I've seen Fenders that look like a dull router was used inside the body.

The hardware, electronics, and woods used to make this guitar are all of excellent quality. It stays in tune better than my strat, and my strat has Schaller locking tuners! Of course, this guitar has a fixed bridge and a well-cut graphite nut, so there's less tuning issues to begin with.

Easy 10/10 on features, for what I need. If you need phase switches and individual pickup switches and push-pull coil taps, this might not get you where you want to be, but I don't know of many factory instruments that would...

Sound : 10
I play blues/jazz fusion and metal.

I use this with both tube and SS amps, from a little THD Univalve 15W'er to a Peavey all-tube half stack. I do use a pedal chain for each of my amps, but nothing extreme - distortion, delay, reverb, EQ, that kind of thing. Not even any modulation, right now.

No noise from this guitar. Very quiet in all switch positions, though the ones which aren't using the coils like a humbucker obviously aren't going to cancel 60-cycle hum.

Very, very warm sounding guitar, but with good treble presence as well. The stock pickup set is a real classic, nearly everyone has an opinion on them because nearly everyone has tried them. Personally, I love them, and the switching setup makes an old favorite into a newly-capable, very versatile combination that sacrifices nothing of the individual humbucker sound you go for!

In positions 1 and 5, it's a Jazz or a JB humbucker in the neck/bridge. You know what to expect. The neat stuff is 2, 3, and 4, which give very cool sounds. 2 is almost like an acoustic-electric, 3 is very fat sounding and combines the best of the JB with the best of the Jazz, and 3 is similar to an overwound single coil in a Strat's bridge position.

10/10 for what I play. This is quickly becoming my favorite guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Great. Just great. No complaints at all. The Schecter USA setup crew did a fine job. I do my own setup, and I did tweak it a bit to be exactly how I like it, but I was building on an already excellent setup and didn't have to do much at all to dial it in perfectly.

Well-intonated with relatively low action from the factory and minimal fret buzz, pickup height was just right for the best tone without hurting sustain and well-balanced neck to bridge. Hard to ask for more than that.

The top is gorgeous, and yes, it's properly bookmatched.

No flaws at all. I wish there were, I hate giving 10/10 reviews, but it deserves it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I replaced the strap buttons with Dillion straplocks (the push-button kind, I use them on all my guitars and they work very well, no accidents). The gold-colored hardware will likely tarnish over time, but that's to be expected, and just adds character. The bridge and tuners are very high quality (Tone Pros is a very good company for guitar hardware, and so is Grover), no worries there.

I expect it to hold up quite well. I will be taking good care of it - it's too pretty to do otherwise - but I am sure that if I take care of it, it'll take care of me.

I'm not going to submit a rating, because this is the kind of thing that can only be assessed after owning it for years. If I remember or care, I might come back and rate it five years down the line ;)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Couldn't say.

Overall Rating : 10
Just a phenomenal guitar.

Hurry and get one while you can still get one Made in Korea! They're going to move a lot of the production of the Diamond series guitars over to Indonesia, and I worry that the quality will suffer. I have several Made in Korea guitars from various companies, and I am firmly convinced they're the new Japan as far as the price:quality ratio is concerned. Excellent workmanship on all of them, this is no exception.

So, a wide range of sounds are possible!!!
Grover tuners which are nice btw.
I changed the nut because(I'm left handed) I turned a righty into a lefty, so I can't comment on the stock nut.
I'll give a 9.

Sound : 10
I play a little bit of everything, so I wanted this guitar for the variety. It was well worth it.
I'm using this with 3 set-ups, and they all sound great with this guitar.
RP350, and headphones and also into a computer for recording.
Kustom 36, slightly modified.
Diamond Phantom with the Spec op cab.
All sound great, especially with the Diamond of course.
10! This sounds great, and I was worried that the neck would be about the great inlay with less worry about the sound.
I shouldn't have worried. And it stays in tune.... but since I changed the nut, I can't vouch for that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Since I flipped it, I really can't comment on the set-up.
Also, I think the pickups were adjusted after it left the factory.
I'm not sure. The finish looks nice though, and for $599(on sale), you can't get a better looking and sounding guitar. (If you can, let me know. I'm always looking for great guitars under $1000.)

Reliability/Durability : 9
It's a tank, but like anything if you drop it it's gonna hurt.
I don't think it NEEDS a back-up.

Customer Support : 3
Not good. Not good at all.
They were friendly, but not very helpful.
I did get a call directly from Schecter telling me I wasn't going to get the guitar I ordered originally. But they probably did the best they could. (If you're left handed, you're used to it...)

I think every big company suffers from losing a few customer service battles though. If you buy it from the local guitar store, that's where your service should come from anyhow.
I ordered one, a left handed model, and that fell through.
Then I bought a righty and turned it upside down. I'm glad I did though, instead of going with something else. It's a great guitar.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing a long time, and have a lot of other gear.
If it was stolen, I'd track down a used lefty if I could, though they are going for almost as much as I got my right handed one brand new.

This USA-made 24-fret powerhouse has passive electronics, but with its Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz pickup pair, has all the tonal possibilities covered. You can look at the specs on the company's web site for more details, but this guitar has a ton of flexibility!

Sound : 8
With the 5-selector switch allowing for single-coil pickups in both bridge (4)/neck (2) or both (3), bridge humbucker (5) and neck humbucker (1), I've not found a style of music this guitar is not perfect for! Your amp/effects really produce the sound. The guitar has great sustain and its pickups are quiet, even next to eight 4-foot flourescant lights, which would normally be a recipe for disaster with any of my other guitars.

The sound is VERY bright, in fact, I find myself bringing my treble/tone down, which is a GREAT asset - better to have too much tone and be able to back it down than to want more and not have it.

I've used the C-1 Classic with a BOSS GT-10, direct into a Line 6 Spider 3 combo and into a Roland Cube 30X guitar amp with very successful results. The simitar simulator is great with the brilliance this guitar can provide. The metal tones are very edgy yet have a great overall tonal sound (you can hear all 6 strings in a very overdriven chord.)

I kind of wish that the option to separate the pickups into single coils was done with another switch or push-pull knobs like some of my other guitars, so the selector switch doesn't change my tone so significantly as I flip from position 5 (rhythm) to position 1 (lead).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar is very playable "out of the box". Guitar Center got me one that they had not put out on the floor prior, so I know it would be at its best by the time it was in my hands. I think the strings (9 gauge) could have been 10's, but these can bend 2 full notes without my being nervous about popping them.

The attention to detail on Schecter guitars is awesome, and while each has their own visual appeal, the "vine of life" fretboard design is so eye catching, it's now my primary live guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've had this guitar for a little over 2 weeks, and while I can hardly ever put it down, I've not had it long enough to say it's reliable/durable. However, I _NEVER_ gig without a backup guitar, or at least a second guitar with an alternate tuning that could be quickly re-tuned to back up my primary guitar.

I replaced the strap buttons with locking ones, since my straps all have the same connections, and I can toss any guitar onto my preferred strap at any time -- I highly recommend doing this anyway, it's just one more way to keep your guitar safe.

Customer Support : 9
Never needed them, hope I never do. Their web site has schematics of the pickup wiring which I am grateful for! That saves me so much time in wondering if I need/want to replace the pickups in this guitar in the future or not. (I chose not to.) Guitar Center was the ones that recommended this brand of guitar to me, when i went in and asked what their best and most versitile guitar was. They've never steered me wrong before.

Overall Rating : 9
I play every style of music, though I focus on 4 "sounds" for my live performances:

1. Super clean - rhythm and very reverse/reverb heavy filler sounds
2. Crunch - my usual rhythm sound, varied gain settings
3. Power - Dual Rectifier sounds, power chords and lots of "chugging"
4. Lead - "this one goes to 11" where I really take lots of different effects and toss them together to come up with unique guitar lead parts.

I have played Fenders, Les Pauls (Epiphone and not) and Ibanez guitars as "primary live guitars" in the past. I never found a single guitar that suited my tastes until the C-1 Classic. Now, I feel like I have the best of all worlds in one guitar!

My current rig (which I recommend) is:

Schecter C-1 Classic --> BOSS GT-8 (get the GT-10 in a month!) --> Roland Cube 30X as a stage monitor/practice amp (I take the signal off the effects processor to the house PA.) With this combination, I don't feel like I could ever exhaust the tonal possibilities that are out there for serious live performance guitar playing!

This is a great guitar for rock/metal music. I play it through a 2 channel Mesa Dual Rectifier with a Mesa 4x12, and was blown away at how good this axe sounds. I've always thought the clean channel on Rectos was a bit lacking, but this guitar makes it shine. The bridge JB is full sounding, and you can get some great tones by combining/spliting the pickups. It's very clear sounding, and packs quite a punch when using distortion. Leads sound amazing on this axe. I A/B'd it with my Les Paul equipped with Burstbuckers (which has been my favorite for years) and I have a new favorite. I have read about the tone pot issues, (working only at extremes), and I have to say that the sweep on them isn't the greatest, but I mostly keep it dimed anyway so that doesn't really bother me. For the price, it's a 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This thing came set up almost perfectly to my liking. I adjusted the action a little lower (not by much), and it plays like butter. The neck is quite fast, fret edges are by far the best I've seen on a guitar in this price range. I have a small buzz on the low E string when played open, but it's not noticable through the amp. Schecter does a very good job of setting these things up.
The finish on this guitar is spectacular. The maple top has a very nice grain to it, and the blue color is nice as well. I wasn't too sure that I liked the color at first, but it grew on me. The neck inlay matches the blue color also, since it has quite a bit of blues and green throughout. It is quite heavy, weighing in at a pound or two more than my Les Paul.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I haven't had it long enough to play live with it yet, but I'm sure it will hold up. The finish seems like it will withstand fair amounts of abuse, but I wouldn't go throwing it around and expect it not to be chipped or scratched.

The strap buttons are oversized, so they seem like they would keep a strap on very well, but I changed them out with some Dunlop strap locks. Not that I wouldn't trust them, just that every other guitar I have has strap locks on them already.

I would gig without a backup on this guitar if I had to, but I always take at least 2 axes to a gig.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with them, and hope that I never do.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for almost 15 years, of which time I've played just about every kind of guitar known to man - From $100 Squires to $4000 Gibsons and PRS's and everything in between. These guitars are comparable to any expensive name brand guitar. You could go spend $2500 on a PRS with a bolt-on neck, or $700 on a Schecter Classic and get a better bang for your hard-earned buck. The quality build, sound, and feel of this guitar is by far greater than the mid-range price tag of it. For the money, you would be hard-pressed to find a better guitar. I compared this guitar side by side with a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser equipped with EMGs, and the overall sound and feel of this guitar is much better.

I gave this a 9 because it is outstanding for a stock guitar. All I did to is was intonate it and swap out the strap buttons for Dunlop straplocks.
I have the orange burst model, and I love it. I wasn't sure about the vine inlays, but it looks stunning. My guitar came from guitar center without any un-fixable issues (marred paint, cruddy frets, Etc). Don't pay any attention to the people that diss it for being assembled in Korea; they seem to know what they are doing. The tuners (grovers) are amazing, I will never go back to whatever was on my old Epi. This guitar has proven to stay in tune for two weeks!
The pickups it comes with are superb; they were one of the selling points for me (along with the finish, neck-thru, and 5-way switch). I use the neck pup for almost everything. For heavier leads I naturally use the bridge, and for blues I use the selector position one step up from the bridge. Extremely versatile.
For you people who say that the neck-thru gives you screaming sustain, I am going to be the realist among the purists. The only thing that will get you crazy sustain is gain. Duh. BUT - the neck-thru provides un-paralleled access to the higher frets (all 24).
The 5 way selector switch is great, couldn't ask for a better switch (especially stock!)
That's about it, a guitar is a guitar.

Sound : 10
It sounds great, just like a guitar in this price range should. If you are smart and keep the pups and tone knob cranked the highs are clear and bright. Otherwise is sounds like (what a surprise) crud. Well, maybe not crud, but definitely mud. Very dead. so if you need to adjust volume, grab a volume pedal (and put it in your fx loop).
Bridge pup: very bright and significantly hotter than the neck pup. A bit harsh if your not ripping a lead.
Neck pup: Much more mellow that the bridge, I use for styles from jazz to medium rock.
The 5-way switch really allows you to morph your sound a heckuvalot better than a 3-way.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
This is where things get a little hairy... like I said above, everything that is un-adjustable was perfect. But the action and intonation where crud. That took me an hour or so to iron out.

Everything else was perfect though, even the truss-rod was fine (or as far as i can tell it is).

Reliability/Durability : 7
The only thing I can really grip about is that the gold leaf on the bridge pup is all faded/smudged off from resting my hand there in a palm mute. I was kinda put off by that (it also all came off on one my my dublop strap buttons).
It is a neck-thru, so if you break it your screwed. But no guitar is built to be dropped (that's why they made straplocks).
Also, I have managed to make a plethora of tiny scratches on the back from the plastic buttons on my sunday shirts. Bleh. Get yourself a scratch protector no matter what guitar you choose.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for almost three years and this guitar was given to me last year (it is my 2nd).
If it were stolen, I would probably shop around for a used Les Paul or some other higher end guitar. The wow factor is nice with new gear, but you get more bang for your buck with a used instrument.
However, if you are bent on buying new, I could not recommend a better guitar in this price range (I compared it to a Schecter C-1 Plus, Fender Deluxe players strat, an Ibanez something rather (in this price range), and the Gibson vintage mahogany).

Most everyone already listed the features but I'll give it a try in case someone missed something, starting from the headstock working down; Grover tuning heads. A truss rod that doesn't seem to do much (more later), under a truss rod cover that should have two more screws in it so it doesn't flop around when you try to screw it back into place. 24 jumbo frets layed out on a 25 1/2 inch scale. Multi-ply maple walnut neck with a rosewood fingerboard and of course that "vine of life" design on it. Binding. Neck thru construction. A SH-2n humbucker at the neck and a SH-4 at bridge- passive. Flame top maple in sunburst, laminated to mohagony. Strat style body. TOM bridge that is the thru the body type not the LP tail piece type. One volume knob and one tone knob. A 5 way selector switch that splits the PU's in the 2nd and 4th position, uses both humbuckers in the middle position and hopefully you understand what the switch works in the 1st, 3rd and 5th position. Does not come with a hardcase or anything else... nothing but the guitar does not cost thousands of dollars either.

Sound : 8
I gotta be honest; I don't have a style of guitar that I really could define what type of music is REALLY the kind of music that I play, I guess because I like all types of music but would have to default to the heavy side of the spectrum, if asked.
It sounds just spanky dirty, really it does. It doesn't push out crazy harmonic pinches like some guitar/pu's can but it can get pretty mean.
I guess the bad news is that it doesn't sound AND can't make strat tones (sorry fellas)and I knew that as soon as I played it without pluging it in I knew that- it sounded kinda like an LP, but it does have it's own voice and having it's own voice is cool by me as I didn't want another strat and I sure didn't want a LP.
The clean tones are fine and are really usable.
I compare this guitar to my Ibanez RG42 that has PAF pros in it but with a litte more tone and maybe a little more tame.
It's not noisy except for that little pop noise that the tone pot makes.
I've used a few amps with this guitar already; a VH100R, a XXX head, TT20H, some old AOR heads, a Epi valve jr. (all with a few different cabs), some Line 6 stuff and so so far I haven't disliked it at all. I like the guitar, except for the tone pot noise that it makes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Intonation wise the guitar was set up fine but the action seemed too high for me so I lowered the bridge and since the neck seemed to have a little convex (backwards bend) bow to it I loosened the truss 1/8.
24 hours later I played it for a while, retuned it and the bow was still there, maybe the neck got a little better but it didn't seem like it moved.
Long story short- the truss rod is hardly doing anything after several adjustments. The action isn't bad (about 1.5 mm at the 12th fret and that's as good as it's going to get with this guitar) but it isn't great. I have Squires with much better action so maybe the person that inspected my guitar (#18) should rethink what that "set up to play" sticker that they signed means- I guess it means average/won't suck/but the neck isn't the greatest in the first place.
The fretwork is very nice tho... perfect, minus the undectable-ish buzzing that takes place if I attempt to place this guitars action into decent shredders guitar territory- the top string is a buzzer and that is really a neck problem, not a fretwork issue. The frets are smooth as butter and the ends of the fret wire are perfectly finished.
The tone pot thing that everyone talks about is real- mine actually makes a slight popping noise as the tone hits that spot into thick bass. Still, the pot tapers off nicely until all of a sudden it hits that spot that takes you into that Clapton, using coke, Cream, kinda fuzzmushy tone that happens right at the last 1/32 of the pots travel.

The truss rod appears to do nothing to the neck. All I want to do is take a little tension off the neck so the strings pull a little bend into it and nothing happens when I loosen the nut. I've gone about a 1/4 turn now and nothing has happened and one quarter turn is about max for any guitar.

The guitar looks great- flawless, sounds good but isn't the best playable guitar I've used, I thought I'd get a lower action out of it.

Btw, the barbed wire strings that it came with were removed after about 3 minutes of playing it and I put a decent set of strings on it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm not in a band right now but I think a schecter classic would certainly survive live playing.
The seems like it'll last but I doubt the gold hardware would take much abuse- I've seen a few of these in GC's that people have been playing a lot and the tuning pegs were showing wear.

Overall Rating : 6
I guess I'm getting really picky in my age because I'm about 50/50 on whether I'm going to return this guitar or keep it.

Some of the things I do NOT like about the Classic;
1. the "vine of life" neck.
a. I've never liked pimped out looking guitars. Looks don't make a guitar play better.
b. how about instead of investing so much into the "vine of life" that schecter puts into this put a nut on the guitar that isn't a .05 cent hunk of plastic or a tone knob that doesn't totally work?
2. The neck is not adjusting.
3. The action, on the low side, is kinda high.

What I do like about this guitar;
1. It's made out of heavy wood. I love heavy guitars.
2. Love the 25.5" scale. I would have ran right out and bought me a Gibson, years ago, it they made a 25.5 inch scale.
3. With the exception of the tone pot the electronics seem good.
4. Great choice for humbucking pickups.
5. Fret finishing is 100% and maybe the best I've seen or felt.
6. The guitars body, neck and headstock finish is very good- not a flaw.

I picked this guitar as one to buy several years ago after I spent about an hour playing one in El Cerritos GC- the action/playability on that guitar was the best I've ever played. I have never played ANY guitar that was sitting in ANY store that I felt totally comfortable with off the shelf but that C-1 classic was the bomb and I should have bought that one (even tho it was already kinda beat up from handling). This Christmas my wife asked me what I wanted and I told her to get me a C-1, which she did. Good wife.

I've been playing for over 25 year mostly semi-professional and I think it's an ok guitar; better than some guitars but it's not overall worthy of a 10 or 9 rating.

Mahogony, H/H, neck through, Seymour Duncan pickups, vine of life inlay on the neck. When I first looked at one of these in the music store it was the blue finish and man was it ugly. It looked nothing like the website pictures. Much more dull/bland coloring. You could barely see the wood grain. Almost looked like it was colored with a magic marker. Felt and played nice so I ordered one online in the antique finish, figuring its brownish, even if its not like the web photo, it shouldn't look bad. I was pleasantly surprised as it looked just about the same as the web image. Very beautiful guitar with nice wood grain. I'm only knocking off a couple points because the blue one was ugly, otherwise the I'd give the antique a 10.

Sound : 9
I play rock, 70's rock, metal, blues and heavier stuff like In Flames. I love the mahogany with the Duncan JB. I play through a modded 5150 and it sounds great! It has a thick full tone. Mine came with D'Addario strings and they were a little too bright sounding for my taste. I haven't put on the Blue Steels that I usually use. I can't tell if its noisy or not because the 5150 is a pretty noisy amp by nature. As others have said, the tone control is basically an on/off switch.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The blue one I looked at had what looked like some wood damage that was crappily patched and sealed over by the ugly blue finish right near the lower cut-away, obviously a factory blemish and a poor try at hiding it. I looked over the one I purchased very carefully and I couldn't find any flaws or blemishes whatsoever. The one I ordered arrived almost in tune from the factory. The action was nice but the strings buzzed a tiny bit. Quick turn of the truss rod and that problem was solved. Everything was set how I adjust my guitars already, so I was stoked about that. The frets were all nicely filed and smooth. Highly polished gloss finish. I thought will all the crazy stuff on the vine inlay that there would be some kind of flaws there, but there weren't any. The quality of the hardware seemed very good, even though I've never really been into Grover tuners. The screw holding on the bottom strap button had a bit of metal flashing or something that I had to file off after it scratched me. I'm knocking off a couple points for the blue guitars flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It seems pretty solid. I'm not sure that the frosted finish on the hardware will stay frosted with much use. I assume it will buff out. The strap buttons are your standard cheapies, I would replace them for gigging with some straplocks or whatever.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with Schecter for any support issues, but I did email them a question about the finish on the guitar and they never wrote back and instead added me to their spam list. They are local to me so if I have a serious problem I could just drive over there.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 15-20 years or so. I'm not a pro or anything, I just like to jam. Its good for the soul. I own a pile of guitars, Strats, Les Paul knock offs, Ibanez "shredding" guitars... I am turning into a geezer though and am leaning more towards "classy" instruments these days, without tremolos and whatnot, which is why I was turned on by the C-1. Looks good, sounds good, has a comfortable neck, I can recommend it.... well, other than the blue version.

Transparent Blue with Quilted maple top. Love the 5 position switch that allows for split humbuckers. 24 Frets but I dont think I will ever use the top 8. Volume control works well but the tone control leaves much to be desired. Neck thru helps the sustain greatly.

Sound : 8
I play mostly rock and blues and this guitar sounds amazing. Really sounds strat like with the coils split and has a great humbucker tone with distortion. Doesnt sound like a Les Pauldue to the maple and walnut neck but has a great tone of its own. Sounds beautiful through my Mesa Subway Blues and dual Keeley TS9 setup. Very versitile could be used for anything from blues to metal.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The fit and finish of this guitar is near perfect. Setup perfecty from the factory and the finish is beautiful but much darker than depicted on the schecter website. Hard to see the quilt top in most situations but still very beautiful. I was skeptical about the neck inlay but it seems more tasteful in person to me. I like how it matches the blue finish due to the fact that most of the colors in the inlay are green and blue. The pictures I saw did not display how colorful the inlays are in person. This would get a 10 if they just used better electronics. I thought people who were complaining about the electronics were just your typical crazy web forum posters. I was wrong the tone knob is truely useless... I would actually use the term broken. If you think of the tone knob travel from 10 to 1 then this tone pot has no effect until .4 where it just completly drops off. Seriously it has 0 and I mean 0 effect between 10 and .4. The 5 position switch is a bit loud in my opinion but the flexibility is nice. Volume knob is perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Tone knob asside this is a well put together guitar. Should last a long time. Far exceeded my expectations of a guitar in this price range. I just cant fathom why they wont change the tone control. I emailed them on this issue and they ignored my question.

Customer Support : 6
I emailed them before I puchased the guitar regarding the warentee and to see if they had resolved the tone knob issues recently. They failed to respond to either question. When I harassed them they responded only to the warentee question.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 17 years and have owned several US made fender guitars but I must say this guitar is quite a deal over what fender could offer. I acually purchased a black us strat first but had to send it back due to a twisted neck. Anyhow I got 2 TS9 pedals that I later had modified by Keely and this Schecter for the price of the strat. I am going to give this guitar a 10 even though their customer service and tone know really need improvement. I cannot stress how bad the tone knob is. Really I know that Starcaster made by Fender guitar at Best Buy for $129.99 has a tone knob that far exceeds the one you will find on this Schecter. Fortunatly I dont really use the tone knob so all is well. I will probably just replace it really cheap but I just dont know what they are thinking.

Top notch features - read the other reviews
One drawback - the tone knob does nothing through most of its range, and then drops off suddenly from bright/crisp to smooth/muted. Not a biggy for me since I use bright sounds for the most part.

Sound : 9
Outstanding sound - deep, rich, bright, clear - depending on the selector switch. The sustain is not only long, but it has a quality that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. One thing, however, to be aware of. Some of these reviews have said that you can get real single coil twang in the tapped positions - you really can't. That is not to say that those positions don't produce great sounds, just not authentic Tele or Strat sounds. This is why my other gig axe is a Tele, to cover the full spectrum. With these two axes and my Line 6 Flextone III modeling amp, I can make just about any sound imaginable.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Setup from the factory was good, but if you get a C1 Classic done by a good setup man, with your eyes closed you will think you are playing a PRS. Just like a PRS, you can tell the quality as soon as you play your first note.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It feels like it is made of stone. Nothing moves on this guitar. I have been gigging with it for a while now and playing it much longer and have not had one problem. The gold finish on the hardware is starting to wear, but to me that just adds character

For the price, the features are phenomenal

Mahogany body
% piece laminated thru-neck construction
Flame maple top
Vine of life inlay
Grover tuners
Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz pickups, both tappable
...

My missus made me buy this guitar after just taking one look at it, it's really to my taste and I think it's the best looking guitar out there.

Sound : 8
I play a variety of sounds, I'm a heavy metal fan, but play in more of a pop band. The band itself varies in styles from punky Kaiser Chiefs style stuff, to soulful stevie wonder-esque stuff, to Joy Division style dirges. I therefore needed a guitar than could handle a bunch of different styles.

This guitar fits the bill perfectly, fantastically bright, high output sound with the bridge humbucker, great for heavy metal and rock, lovely jangly single-coil sounds when tapped, nice warm sounds from the neck.

The sound doesn't have quite the character of an LP, (which probably makes it more suitable for heavily distorted sounds), and can sound a little bland, but you do get a huge amount of sustain.

So in summary, not one all conquering tone, but a choice of extremely good, extremely usable tones.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Flawlessly put together, haven't dreamed of changing the setup. This is my second C-1 classic after having my previous one stolen, the first had the action a smidgen higher than I would have liked, but this one is spot on.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Practiced and gigged plenty with this guitar. I had to get the input replaced after I dropped the guitar during a sound check. I hadn't put the strap on properly, and I can't really blame the guitar for that.

It was a pretty big bang the guitar took, and it stood up to it pretty well, I've the tiniest of chips on the headstock otherwise unscathed. The hardware is top quality and noiseless. The whole guitar has a quality feel to it, and I expect it to last indefinitely.

Customer Support : 5
Never dealt with the company, but schecters are quite hard to get hold of in the UK, they only have one importer, sound control, and they only get 4 shipments a year. If you want a particular model in a particular colour you may have to order it and wait. (As I did when my last one was stolen).

Marking this down because there's not enough UK dealers!! More schecters please!!

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for 17 years or so. I've also got an Epiphone Zakk Wylde les paul which sounds great but is totally un-versatile!
I used to play an Ibanez js100 which had been fitted with Dimarzio Fred and PAF Pro pickups and I thought that guitar was ace. This schecter is a lot better, better built, better to play, better sound, better looks, better price!

I did have one of these guitars stolen, and I did get exactly the same one again. I had to wait 3 months for it to be imported, but it was that important that I got this same one.

The major plus points of this guitar are, for me
- the looks of the thing
- the versatility
- the price!

Schecter are setting the standard for value-for-money in guitars at the moment. If you after a new guitar, or upgrading to your first 'real' guitar from a practice plank then ignore all those more well known glamorous names and go give a schecter a try! Buy one!

Well manifactured, but U have to take care of it!
The only thing is the lack of a pickguard: I'll cry if and when I scar it!

I'm a Stratocaster guy, I mean, I really LOVE Strato's sound! and now I play pop/rock with my band right here in Italy.
But now I'm looking for a really good humb guitar. Obviously I think about a Guibson Les Paul or a Prs, but you all know money is the problem when U look in these directions. But when I first play the C-1 I was illuminated! Like many others here I agree that the sound is brighter than a LP. But you know, if u want a Strat sound, than U have to buy a Strat, and if U want to be Jimi Page no way: U need an LP.
But C1 is good manufactured, very quick, with a brilliant and noisless sound, versatile (of course), and - last but not least - beautiful.

Yes, the inlay is not what I would choose, but isn't SO difficoult to know where U are after a while u're playing.

So I'm saving the money to buy it for Xmas. The only thing I have not decided yet is the color: blue or amber? tey're both beautiful!

I don't know when it was made. Made in Korea and it's a second.. So says the number 2 on the 24th fret. quilt maple top, 2 hummers, JB at the bridge, Duncan 59 at the neck. Laminated neck through, maple & mahogany maybe. Tone-Pros bridge. 2 volume, 1 tone, 5-way. Solid!

This guitar is great! I've had it about 3 years now. Good "Stratish" sounds and a nice jazz voice from tne neck pickup. I have several setups. Usually, I use it in conjuction with a Roland GR20 synth. I feed that to a KBA100 Peavey amp and the guitar straight into a Fender Cyber Champ of Showman Reverb, depending on the venue. This guitar will make any guitar sound I want. I can play Telecaster noises with the JB and Wes Montgomery with the Neck pickup and do it in the same tune. The neck seemed pretty beefy at first...like the old Gibson baseball bat necks. I noticed, about 3 hours later, my hands weren't tired. My only DISLIKE is the orientation of the volume knobs. The knob closest to the strings controls the bridge pickup, the middle knob controls the neck.,, Maybe that's what made this a second... I cant see any other flaws.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
perfect perfect perfect.... except the aforementioned volume knob orientation. The new ones are two knobs instead of three.

Dropped it, froze it, left it in the car, fell off the stand. Hell yes !! I carry a backup, but I'd play this without one. Never a problem in the trenches.

Never had a problem. Any issues I have with guitars are handled by a close personal friend who does guitar repairs. His work is flawless. I probably would not take it back to the factory.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing close to 50 years in every discipline. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. The quality of this guitar speaks well for the entire line. If I didn't have several other guitars available, I'd grab another Schecter model for a backup. I have lots of guitars, amps, mics and effects and I've owned even more.

I LOVE the idea of being able to jump from jazz to blues to country to rock without changing guitars or having to compromise my tone.
This guitar is a remarkable value. Worth every dime.

lots of sustain, not muddy, smooth body and fretworks, the jb pups is just right for me. the distortion is not overpowering thus giving u the chance to be versatile. i believe it can cover all sorts of music. acoustically, u can really feel the guitar is vibrating and resonates from head to toe

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
its a display guitar but the guitars playability is second to none. this the very characteristic of the guitar that really tempts me to but it. the shop was saying that nobody give an eye on her on its rack. nobody pays attention to her. i wonder why???/ it took me an hour to had it test drive and every passes i did is nothing short of being amazed. its just lovely in its appearance and the orgasmic finish is something u have to die for. i was happy with the setup. harmonics are very evident and did i mention sustain.....it can run a mile more than my Ibanez bolt ons. thanks to the neck thru constraction.

Reliability/Durability : 9
by just the feel of it, its really a solid guitar, built like a tank but i beleive the finish can be scratch easily if not careful with handling. strap buttons is ok as long as u wont do any acrobatic stunts with the guitar, it will hold the weight. tuning stability of this guitar is not something i expected. i abused it for 5 songs and that includes heavy strumming, bending and hard picking but this thing stays in tune.

i dont em at the moment.

i have a 2005 schecter c-1 classic, blue quilt top, 24 frets, neck through construction, duncan jb in the bridge, and jazz in the neck. all mahogany, rosewood fretboard with vine of line inlay all the way up the neck. string through body with "locking" t-o-m bridge. earvana compensated graphite nut. 25.5 inch scale. also a 5 way selecter so you can run each humbucker as a single coil with hum cancelling, definately a plus for clean type stuff.

Sound : 10
i play thrash metal, and black metal and this guitar fits that style perfectly. you get the thick les paul sound from the thick body and awesome wood used, but you also get a bad lead tone past the 12th fret due to the string thru/neck thru body with killer sustain. with the 5 way selector you can get some strat sounds, but as thick as this guitar is and with the pickups its mainly designed to sound heavy. i love everything about this guitar, only thing i dislike is the weight. i have an ltd thats neck thru with string through body, but it has alder wings on the mahogany neck and its alot lighter, on that guitar i have the same pickups with push/pull coil tapping, but it definately doesnt have that thick mahogany tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
when i got this guitar it was set up perfect for .09 strings, but i tune down a half step and drop the top string to c# so i had to put .10's on the guitar and adjust the action. also the pickup height wasnt quite where i wanted it, i raised for a little hotter sound. i dont know how thats really a category cause action is all preference, as for fit and finish, no one blemish, and not one rough fret (a big big big problem with fenders these days!!!)

Reliability/Durability : 10
im positive this guitar will withstand live playing, but i always bring a backup, cause it looks cooler to have several guitars, and you never know if a string will break. as for the strap buttons i replaced them with a dimarzio locking strap.

Customer Support : 10
well i got the warranty activated and i gotta say customer support for schecter is the greatest. they set up and test every instrument that goes out even if it was made in korea like this guitar. they stand by their instruments and if for any reason your not satisfied they'll help out anyway they can.

Overall Rating : 10
ive played 9 years, i have an ltd h-1000, a 1999 gibson sg standard, and an ibanez rg-7420 prestige. i play through a 5150 with all rackmount effects, and a fender snakeskin cabinet with vin30s. if this guitar were stolen i would find the guy and he would be sorry. i can honestly say i love everything about this guitar and compared to my other guitars it sounds fabulous. there is nothing that can make this guitar better, its made overseas and has better craftsmanship that most american guitars, on top of that its set up in america so it doesnt cost alot and younger musicians can have a nice guitar too. bravo schecter.

Not sure about the year, but it is made in South Korea. If you've looked this guitar up you probably already know the features.

Sounds beautiful with a string thru body, thru body neck and mahogney body.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was set up well at the factory, i havent had to change the action or anything. All the hardware was fine and the finish was perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar will stand live playing, no doubt, and I haven't had tp put strap locks on it because the buttons are big and reliable. I would definitely use it without backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with the company.

I have been playing for around a year now and I have only owned crap guitars before this although I go to play my dads paul a lot but I like this one better. Its got just as much sustain, a better looking finish, and it weighs a million tons less. If someone stole this guitar I would definetly replace it.
