It suits my musical style very well. I play all kinds of rock and some metal, with a little bit of blues.
Can play almost any sound with distortion or on clean, both sound great, and can play almost any other sound.
Love it and no dislikes.

I don't know exactly when it was made but I purchased it from Guitar Center as a floor model. Made in China. 24 jumbo fret 25.5" scale with center dot inlay medium thin u-shaped maple bolt-on neck with somewhat flat profile. Only thing I know of the s-body's construction is that it is carved top mahogany painted gloss white with black binding on body. Has dual humbuckers that are H-B 105 Duncan Design active pickups with a 3-way selector, 2 volumes and 1 tone. It has a liscenced Floyd Rose double locking tremolo thats is a smoke color with stock schecter tuners. Gave it a ten on features because it had everything I was wanting at a great price.

I play blues, rock, hard rock, nu-metal and heavy metal and it works perfect for all of them, extremely versitale guitar. I'm running it through a MXR 10 band eq, MXR Carbon Copy analog delay, MXR Dyna Comp compressor, Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamer and Ibanez LU20 tuner. Running this in a Peavey Valveking 212 I run the delay and the eq in the effects loop and all the others in-line. With the body being mahogany it reminds me of all other mahogany guitars as far as sound. I like the change in sound from all my other guitars, as they have been either alder or basswood but to compare it, its not better or worse it's just differant. The only complaint I can come up with is the weight and the carved top, as I knew this going into the purchase but its a big difference from the Jacksons I've owned over the years. Excellent guitar for drop tunings.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

When I got it the action was set pretty high but was able to drop it to my preference with little more than turning in the Floyd's pivot bolts with the intunation staying perfect. The pickups were setup fairly close to where I've got them now as I tend to get picky on the little things and adjust to my taste. When I got it the only problem it had was the input jack was grounding out the battery terminal to the sound side. I don't feel that this was a Schecter flaw as much as a monkey at Guitar Center not knowing what they were doing playing it, (they do let anyone play anything in the store). Other than that the finish was at best ok as there was overspray on the binding in both or the horn curves and the routing on all the holes was very rough and unfinished, small beans for the price I paid.
Reliability/Durability
:

As far as durability it so far has been pretty tough and sense the repair of the jack I have had no problems with it whay so ever the finish is starting to come off the Floyd where my hand has been resting but thats to be expected as I have only 3 differant guitars all for differant tunings I will definately be gigging with it without a backup but the trem is goin to be in a semi locked mode anyway and have always done it that way with success. As far as the strap buttons go I thought they looked nice matching the smoked chrome finish of the tremolo I use a strap-lock strap and they are removed for its use.

Haven't dealt much with Schecter except for one phone call and the rep/tech was a little on the rude side with a matter of fact demeanor but nothing to cry about. I did ask a stupid question. The bent jack was taken care of by the Guitar Center I bought it at with a local luthier, had it back in a few days. I have no clue what the warranty is on these guitars as I didn't get anything with the guitar, being a floor model Guitar center had to hunt me up a trem bar and tools and told me I could get the warranty info from Schecter, but thought twice about it after my first call to them.

I have been playing for over 20 years now with mostly jackson soloist and thought it was time for a change and was glad I did. the only thing I wish I would have asked before I got the guitar was if I was getting a new one or a floor model, new preferred of coarse but thats how it goes sometimes when you deal with Guitar Center, nothing to do with Schecter. If it was stolen or it was in an accident I would replace it with another just like it I like it that much especially for the price. The small blemishes don't take away from the overall value.

made in 2007 im assuming thats when i ordered it from schecter..
if you are reading this review chances are you know the specs at least a little..
i bought a White Schecter C-1 FR in 2007
back then i thought this guitar was amazing!!
now...
when i dont think that nearly as much... given that i have progressed musically over the course of time especially when you play as much as i do.. 5-9 hours a day..... no joke.
Sound
:

this guitar is great for the money, im not gonna lie..
its quite possibly one of the best however.. it is lacking in some very important areas but what can you really expect for what comes from the factory..
the pickups.... well they are good if you like a really bright trebly annoying tone...
and that was on my bogner uberschall...even after playing with the eq for hours..
i did away with those and put in some Dimarzio pickups.. definitely saw improvement almost immediately...(given everyones definition of tone is different)
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

the action is good but if you plan on have complete access to all the frets and I mean complete up to the 24th fret and everything this is not the best guitar due to the bolt on neck..
the bolt on neck is my biggest complaint with this guitar... i absolutely hate it..
plus when i received this from the factory it had some dings on the back of the neck...
i just dismissed it as nothing seeing as it didnt effect the playability of the guitar.
another thing... i have really abrasive sweat i guess so therefore the hardware on this guitar is oxidized would be the word i guess.. it just looks like its been eaten away like someone put an acid on it..
Reliability/Durability
:

this guitar is my main.. i would recommend it for reliability. nothing is falling apart on it and ive been playing it for hours a day for over a year now if that tells you anything.
i play John Petrucci, Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, and a lot of other things but the list would be to long to name.. so its not like im just plucking a few strings here and there every once in a while. lol

Ok, this is the only thing I'm going to review here.
I ordered this guitar about six months ago and when it came there was a major back bow in the neck. I adjusted the truss rod and it was fine up until about a month ago when the neck started to twist.
I knew the twist in the neck was due to the neck wood being improperly cured and that it was probably something that can't be fixed. Ever try to straighten out a 2x4?
I emailed them this week and explained the situation. A friendly Schecter rep called me the next day [on new years eve actually] and told me that he read my email. He informed me that he'd get me a Return Authorization code and that if I pay to ship it to them they will replace it.
Keep in mind that I neglected to keep my receipt or even mail in my warranty card. I'm sure a lot of companies would have told me to scram if I didn't have a warranty or receipt.

I believe that I may have just gotten a lemon, and all the temperature and humidity changes probably didn't help either.
Schecter does make some good stuff, but if they screw up they will be the first ones to remedy the situation.

I believe this is either a late '07 or early '08 model
The Floyd sort of makes up for the corners they cut with using "Duncan Design" pickups. But, Schecter used to be in the guitar part biz and supplied a lot of their own stuff to Fender. So, I have no beef with the Schecter Tuners. They're no different from Grovers or the like.

This thing is built very solid and has a nice heavy body which has a deep, resonant sound to it.
I play Strats and Les Pauls mainly and this thing is a very happy medium between the two. It also fits my diverse playing styles ranging from blues to metal. It has a nice bright sound to it through a clean channel. Through a crunch channel it has some bite to it. It could handle anything from Pantera to the heaviest black metal.
I haven't played it through my Line 6 Spider half stack yet, but it sounds good through my Cube 30 practice amp. It even is quite articulate on the metal channel. Normally that channel sounds like mud.

I was dissapointed with the factory set-up. In my experience factory set ups are usually playable, but this one was a joke. The action was so low that it fretted out everywhere on the neck. Plus the springs needed a lot of tweaking to get the floyd sitting horizontal with the body. It was probably set up at 4:50 PM on a friday afternoon!
Aesthetically, this guitar is a beauty. If I sat it side by side with my Gibson Les Paul you would never guess there is a $1700 difference on the price tags.
Overall, the quality exceeds the expectations of a 500 dollar guitar.

Like I said it seems to be built very solidly, but only time will tell. The finish is very thick and resists scratches quite well. I nicked it with a screwdriver when I was setting up the floyd and it has no marks on it whatsoever. The strap buttons are very nice too. They are big and do not require strap locks, as long as you're not slinging it all over the place like Dimebag used to do :)

I've been playing ten years. All the guitars I own besides my MIM Strat are hard tails. So I was in the market for something with a Floyd. I set my budget around 600, and after shopping around and reading countless reviews I settled on the C-1FR. For $499 this thing is an incredible guitar. If this was made by Jackson, ESP, or Ibanez my guess is that it would easily sell for $800 or more.
The only thing I wish it had was a set neck, and some EMG 81s. But, I guess thats why they sell the Hellraiser model. So, I really can't complain :)
I considered forking out some extra loot for a nice Ibanez or Jackson, but I'm very happy with this purchase.

Amazing heavy rock & metal sound!! I use to play kind of progressive/rock/punk and it suits those genre perfectly. It's for sure a metalhead guitar. Guys that like drop C and D will love it. I use to play in standard E but in drop D, it's just awesome. This is the most nasty and crunchy sound i've ever heard. I use it mostly in a Mesa Boogie rectoverb and that's a perfect match. It screams in the highs and gets a huge fat sound when you play low chords. Very powerful output and defined sound. The action is fabulous. Large fretboard that gives you room for a cleaner playing. Of course this is not a jazz guitar, it has been made for (heavy) rock and it is a very well made rock machine.
There's nothing i hate about this guitar.

This guitar is for sure perfect as a main live guitar. One thing to notice is that it is really heavy and that your back will hate you after an hour.
Until they invent un-breakable strings, i'll always bring a backup. But that's the only reason i can see to bring one.
The floyd with the locks keeps this baby tuned forever. The only negative point is that it takes an eternity to change the strings and get them tuned the first time. But once done, you lock it and it last.
This guitar is a tank. Very well made and reliable. I own it for a year now. Never had problems with it. The only thing is that the black chrome has start to fade after a while... :( I haven't change the active pickups battery yet! Still work well :)

I recommend this guitar to anyone who's looking for a heavy rock/metal/hardcore/punk sound. This is one of the best you can ever buy. I cherish it and i'm sure you'll do.

Made in South Korea. Not sure of the year. Strat style mahoghany body, solid black finish with white binding, twenty-four fret rosewood fretboard, what I think is a maple neck. The body is slightly arched, and there's a bit of a contour to the cutaway, but getting way up into the higher frets is somewhat difficult. The neck has a round back, a flat fretboard, and is thicker than an Ibanez Wizard II neck, but thinner than a PRS SE neck.
The bridge is a locking Floyd Rose licensed tremolo, made by TonePros Bridges. Tuners are Grover with "Schecter" engraved on them. The tremolo arm is of the screw-in kind; comes loose rather easily, but serves its purpose. Stays in tune for the most part. Tools are rather cheap. I suggest buying a set of good allen wrenches, as the wrench required to tune strips easily.
Pickups are Duncan Designed active humbucking pickups, and the nine volt battery requires a screwdriver to change. There are three knobs: volume, volume, tone. Three-way pickup selector. Pickups sound pretty good, but can be radically different in volume when switching.
Sound
:

When I picked up the C-1 FR, it was very much to my liking. The bridge and the body resonate very well. Some chords will actually continue to resonate through the wood, even after strings are muted. The clean tone is great, but the low E string jumps out on the bridge pickup. Distorted, everything is very crunchy. A reduction in gain might be wise on lower notes for clarity.
I play progressive rock, fusion, and melodic metal, and the C-1 FR has a sound for each one, provided that it's fed through the right equipment.
One thing I really like is that the harmonics are great, even around the second and third frets. I find that most guitars start diminishing around the ninth/fourth fret harmonic, especially on the lower strings, but Schecter has made it so that the overtones can be sounded out, pretty much no matter where they are sought.
I've played the instrument through a Line 6 Spider II 30 watt, a VOX Valvetronix AD120VT 120 watt, with my DigiTech RP80 and a vintage Jim Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95 wah pedal. It sounds great through both amps and my effects.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The guitar was set-up and intonated at the Schecter facility in Burbank, California, as are all Schecter instruments. I have found little reason to adjust anything, although I would like the action to be lower. Everything sounds great, and no matter how hard I yank and dive on the trem, it stays in tune. I might change out the output jack; the nut comes loose rather easily. The neck requires some serious breaking-in at the higher frets, too. Everything else about the guitar is great.
Reliability/Durability
:
10
I haven't played live with this guitar yet, but I would have full confidence in it if the action was lower. It seems like a dependable instrument, and I wouldn't think twice about it if I left my other guitars at home.
Right away, I switched out the strap buttons with Strap-Loks, as I do with all of my electrics. It is an investment, after all.

I've been playing for 9 years and give lessons. For the most part, I play metal in the style of DreamTheater, Chidren Of Bodom, Symphony X, and Avenged Sevenfold to name a few. I also play classic rock and some blues. I'm going to go ahead and throw it out there that this is the best guitar that I have ever played.
I have to say something about the volume and tone knobs. With this guitar, the knobs affect the sound way differentl(and so much better) than on any other guitar. You can play with distortion and turn the tone knob down, and you can still get a "chunk:" while palm muting. It's just a deeper chunk. And all the knobs are just way more consistent in their sweep. They are much more useful than those on other guitars.
For metal, this guitar is just absolutely fabulous. I am able to get that perfect type of action where it's completely comfortable and easy but the palm-mutes don't "chink" and my notes ring nice and clear when playng clean. The palm-muted notes are so hard-hitting and clear, it's incredible. I must say though, that for the first month of owning the guitar, it developed a nasty metallic sound when i would chug on the low E-string that would break my heart, but it went away after a while.
The Duncan active pickups are really hot but not in a harsh way. Before, I was playing an Epiphone Les Paul with the stock pickups and when I play the Schecter I literally have to cut my gain in half, the pickups are so hot and it made my clean channel sound completely overdriven. With the same settings, the Les Paul sounded sparkly clean. So the chances are that you will need to use COMPLETELY different EQ and gain settings than you would with a guitar like a Les Paul or the sort. When I played clean, it sounds very bright and articulate. I prefer the middle position for playing clean. I must say that it doesn't have the same uniqueness and "mojo" that a Gibson or a Stratocaster has when played clean, though. With the right gain and EQ settings, these pickups can also be very good for clean jazz sounds, as well.
I play this guitar in drop-Db (Db-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb) with a .09-.46 string set, and I've achieved a flawless feel and a unique metal sound with that particular tension. Kinda has the feel and sound of an 80's metal guitar in standard tuning, except its a half-step down. Basically, this guitar sounds monstrous for metal and is really pretty and articulate for clean. The pickups are also good for getting smooth overdrive out of an amp.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:
9
The guitar arrived with .10-.46 strings on and they seemed a little stiff on this particular guitar. On a shorter guitar, those would be my string gauge of choice. Eventually tried .09-.46's and tuned down a half step, and to my surprise the tension was perfect and I fell in ove with it. But anyways...The action was just the slightest bit high but only the tiniest bit. I very much dislike extremely low action. The guitar was out of tune, but once in tune, the intonation was dead on. The pickup height was just right. I messed around with it a little but ended up putting it back to the way it was.
The finish is georgeous. Hardly shows any fingerprints or anything. I couldn't spot a single flaw on the guitar.
Reliability/Durability
:
9
The guitar feels very solid. I've only had it about 4 months so I can't say too much. But I will say this: I don't wanna go ahead and say that it's a flaw on the manufacturers part because I know that I have very corrosive sweat but the black chrome on the knobs, tuners, and tremelo started to turn into regular chrome very quickly. The blackness of it went away quickly and it made me sad, because I love black chrome.
Strap buttons are very solid, but Ibanez ones are the best. The guitar stays in tune amazingly well, the Floyd Rose is great.

The guitar is UNDERPRICED by almost half, I would say. It's insane. I would say that the guitar is geared towards metal, and I can't imagine a guitar that's better suited for it; But the real beauty of it is that the knobs are so effective and useful that you can cover virtually any musical style with it and it just feels so damn good in your hands. As far as playabiity goes, I've never felt more comfortable with any other guitar.
I play through a line 6 Spider II head(before you roll your eyes, try playing it with the treble lower than you would on another amp and with the mids boosted), and I just get such amazing cleans and the metal sounds are so chunky and precise-yet full. I love how it drives the tubes in my ex-girlfriends Fender Deluxe as well. It's a beast, man.
If it were stolen I would go after the bastard if it were possible for sure. If it wasn't recoverable, I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

The sound of this guitar is amazing. very good for metal. It's bright at the bridge and warm and somewhat crunchy at the neck. No noise mostly from these pickups. They are that equal to EMGs in my ears. this thing can go from a modern jazz to a creammy to hard blues sound to hard rock and especially metal and shred. nothing i don't like out of these p/us. I use a small crate combo through a Behringer V-AMP 2. It's suits my style fine as I play mostly hard rock, blues, and at times, shred.

This guitar sound so incredible. I can't believe it doesn't cost two grand at least. It sustains for days, and all the notes are crystal clear. It has tons of ass and balls, but just the right amount of bite. It will take your head off. Not the greatest on clean, but useable. I bought this thing for ripping lead and chunky rhythms. There is nothing I dislike about this guitar.

Guitar was set up good from the factory. Intonation was out on the A and D strings. Guitar Center quickly fixed it for me though. Action, maybe a hair higer than what I'm used to, but it's not even enough that I'm changing it. Other than that, the guitar is gorgeous, the most beautiful black paint job ever, gorgeous black pearl binding you can only see looking down on it while holding in the playing position. All knobs, hardware, floyd, everything, black. Just stunning to look at. The Gothic cross inlays give it a serious evilness that you can't ignore.

I've been playing 16 years. I own two Ibanez S series customs along with the Schecter. I've had many guitars such as a Randy Rhoads 1 Jackson USA, Charvel model IV, USA, several Kramers, several more. I bought this guitar without ever playing it. I tried out all the Schecters in the store, C-1s and C-1 Classics, Elites, Black Jacks, all of them they had. Some I liked, some I loved so I took a chance because I wanted the Floyd and EMGs. I am so glad I did. This is truly the best guitar I've ever played, and I've had some nice ones that cost twice the price. If someone stole this thing from me, I'd flip. They would die for sure if I ever found them. This guitar plays like butter, and sounds like FIRE. I wouldn't change a thing. If you play metal, I challenge you to find something better at any price. I tried all the Jacksons, ESPs/LTDs, Ibanez..ain't nary a one can touch this baby. Thank you God for giving me such a nice guitar is all I've got to say. They say to be critical, but there is nothing to be critical over with this thing. Try one.

I play in a heavy metal band and not only does this guitar look the part, it delivers the goods too. Compared to my Maverick F1 this blows it away in terms of versatility. Great tone on most amps, even the shittiest practice amps. The coil tap gives a nice strat-ish tone for country tones, but isn't very noticable on high gain settings.

The guitar came was shipped from America to England and then couriered to the Channel Islands and arrived in brilliant condition, and with a little fine tuning was perfect. The floyd rose is amazing and never goes out of tune.

I've gigged with it and other then one snapping of a string (due to age mixed with over use of dive bombs) it has worked fine for me and I will continue to use it

sound is amazing, neck pickup souds nice and heavy, and the bridge pickup sounds really thin and sharp
i am using it through a marshall half stack and it sounds amazing,
but i also used it with alot of crappy amps but it still sounds great
the floyd rose brings a whole new level of sounds to me it can make the craziest sounds
there is nothing i dislike about this guitar

it was setup perfectly, the action was a little high but it wasnt a problem
the pickups were perfect, no flaws in fact, order it from geartree cause it comes wrapped in TONS of big bubble wrap to make sure it is not damaged at all

i've hit it against the ceiling many times but no scratch at all, but dont go around bashing it
strap buttons are solid and the only reason i would bring a different guitar for a gig is for a different tuning since this has a floyd rose on it

Schecter C-1FR. Prob 2004 model. Black with chrome hardware and creme binding on body and neck. Set maple neck with rosewood fretboard & 24 jumbo frets. Carved top solid mahogany body. Seymour Duncan designed pups. Vol, vol, tone with pull switch for coil tap, & 3 way pup selector. Original floyd trem. Came with allen wrenches to adjust trem, trussrod, etc & extra spring for trem which it needed.

THe pups are very good. Better crunch the the "real" Seymour Duncan and a tad less output. Likes. the two volumes allow sound tweaking via blending the pups. Something just not doable on one volume guitars. The floyd trem seems to adda little zing to the sound. Similiar to how the Baddass2 bridge adds zing to the sound for basses. Works well on the guitars mahogany body, but would prob be too much on poplar bodied ones and those with maple tops. The coil tap adds small variation in sound that can be useful.

Well, just because its a "real floyd rose" doesnt mean its gonna be better then a guitar with very nice floyd lic trem. In this case, the floyd lic trems on my BC Rich guitars (Mockingbird & Warlock) are the better system imo. Cause the real floyd is finnykier to adjust, takes longer to adjust, and the body route for rearward trem bends should have been deeper for that little extra leeway like the BC Richs got. Otherwise the "real floyd" on the schecter seems equal to the floyd lic ones on my BC Richs. Though I do also more like the BC R's trem handles rubber ribs.
Guitar action once one gets it done, does allow for excellent very low action with fully floating trem.
Excellent fretwork, body ergonomics, comfy fast neck.
Minusa point for the trem issues.

Well made. Like most mfg the strap buttons should have wider tops then they do. But simply replaced the stock ones with some wider top ones. Nice finish. One should allways gig with a backup guitar. In case a string breaks during your set, you can go to your backup one.

More versatile then my BC Rich's sound wise, due to pull up tone switch for coil tap. Comprable to them workmanship wise and for playability & sound. A plus for the Schecter is the set neck with neck thru body like heel. Does like the trems on my BC Richs a little better. THe trem preferance also takes into account that the body route for the BCR"s trems allow for little more rearward bend. the Floyd on the Schecter also takes little longer to get tweaked performance wise but once done, it performs comprably except for little less rearward bend allowance with guitar set up for very low action.

2005 schecter c-1 fr ( fr standing for floyd rose of course). made in korea black in color with an ivory colored binding. there are 2 volume knobs and one tone knob with a "coil tap" and a 3-way toggle switch. Comes with 2 duncan designed humbuckers. grover tuners with a locking nut. it is of a set neck construction.

great sound thanks to the mahogony body and set neck. the pickups are actually very nice for knock off seymour duncans but i am very picky so i bought a pair of seymour duncan invader pickups. i love these pickups very much and was a perfect match for this guitar. i play out of a bogner uberschall and mainly use the bridge pickup. definately a metal man's delight. i am a big fan of avenged sevenfold and this is sinister gates exact setup verbatum.

i had to return the first c-1 fr that i ordered because it came with a huge dent right below the humbuckers... i think that this was definately a shiping error though. the second one that i recieved was nice except for a incomple binding where the headstock meets the nut. the flaw was very small and not noticable while playing th so i kept it anyways. another thing wrong with the guitar was the pickup hieght and the neck pickup is not parallel with the strigs. i had to tweek everything a little bit but now everything is perfect.

this guitar is solid as a tank... the original floyd rose tremlo system keeps everything in tune well, even with heavy use. i use strap locks. i problably wouldnt gig with this guitar just because of the fact that i wouldnt want to copy sinister.

It sounds really good... The duncan design pickup turns out to be preety good... seriously... Its very crunchy and has lots of clarity... Im not even thinking to change them... one problem with them is that they're not a very high output humbuckers, kinda not hot enough to my taste... but i like the tone it delivers and im not kidding the pickups are good... a very good guitar for rock/blues/jazz music... THE OFR just rocks, this guitar always stay in tune no matter how abusive you are in using the floyd... what i love from this guitar is the neck joint!!! much better than ones found in RGs... the neck joint almost feel like a neckthrough guitar!! the neck profile is not as thin as rgs, and not as fat as a les paul, just right to my taste... a very cool looking guitar too!!!

It was set up good... the action, i can still lower it a little bit but the factory set-up was great... the pickups are well adjusted... one flaw that i found was the frets were a bit dirty... but the guitar store send me some dunlops fret cleaner... and its shine as new...

I have been playing effectively 3years... I own an ibanez gax-70 loaded with duncan JB and jazz... If this guitar was stolen, Ill definately buy it again... really like this guitar...
what i like about it?? the looks, the pickups (yes they're duncan designed, but i like em...), the OFR, the neck joint, just about everything about this guitar i like it... the pickups kinda suprise me though, i thought it would be a crappy ass pick up but i was wrong... if only they comes in cream colour, this guitar would look cooler...
