Features : 8
Same features as everyone else's:
Made in Korea, set up in the U.S.
24 frets
Mahogany body, a maple LAMINATED top that's probably no thicker than a dime, but does look great
Two Duncan "poorly" designed humbuckers
Tonepros bridge, string through body
Two volumes, one tone control.

Sound : 8
I play mostly metal. I basically keep a pretty simple set up. I run through a Peavey 5150 head and two Marshall 1960 cabs. My only effects are a Dimebag Crybaby from Hell, a Robert Keeley TS-9, a Boss super chours and a Boss NS-2 noise supressor. Everything is connected with Monster 500 cable and 1000 speaker cable.

The stock pickups on this guitar are horrible. The lows are muddy and the highs are just too harsh and pretty nasty sounding. The internal wiring was also poorly done on my model. After about three weeks the volume knob for the neck pickup stopped working. Nevertheless, I knew when I bought this guitar that I'd be replacing the pickups with EMG's anyway (should have waited for the Hellraiser). My other guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Custom with the Zakk Wylde EMG setup and I really like the sound I get out of it Especially with the 5150.
$200 later the EMG's definately help the guitar to sound better but it still doesn't quite cut it for me. By itself the guitar sounds pretty damn good. But I've had a hard time trying to dial in a good sound on my amp that works in the context of the whole band. When I use this guitar in practice I just get lost in the mix. The guitar just doesn't have the bite that I need in a live setting. I think this is due to the poorly constructed top on the guitar. It's not a true maple top so the guitar is essentially a slab of mohagany. This gives the guitar an exceptionally dark tone. With a thicker maple top one could expect a brighter, more defined tone but it's obvious that schecter was more concerned about offering an affordable guitar that was cosmetically pleasing. There's nothing wrong with that but it just wasn't the right choice for me. It may work well for players using Marshalls or brighter sounding amps. The 5150 is dark enough on it's own.
Now, this guitar doesn't sound bad by any means. By itself the tone is very rich and thick and you can get some very nice Santana sounding leads out of it. The neck position is very creamy sounding. It would work very well in a setting where there was only one guitar player. The clean tones are great too. Like I said. This is not a bad sounding guitar for the money. If you're just starting out or you want a great practice guitar this will work well for you. If your looking to do metal in a two guitarist band this may not be the guitar for you. I'm currently trying to sell this one and buy an ESP/LTD EC1000. Owning this guitar has helped me discover that I'm much more of a Les Paul kind of guy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar came set up rather well. I had it set up to accomodate heavier string gauges (12-56). There was a buzzing on the first and second fret of the high E string but tweaking the action a bit helped with that.
The finish is nice but far from perfect. Anyone performing a basic insepction of my guitar would notice small flaws where some of the paint got onto the binding and other areas where the frets weren't dressed as well as they should have been but for a guitar in this price range I'd say they did a pretty good job. If I would have paid $1200 I'd be f*ckin' pissed.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm sure this guitar would withstand live playing but I'd never know because this will always be a backup. I'm not happy enough with the sound of this guitar to ever use it as a main live guitar. However, in the studio I'm sure it will be quite useful. The stock hardware is crap. You could probably really take a crap inside this guitar and get a better sound than the stock electronics. Save you're money and buy one with real duncans or get the Hellraiser if you play metal and are set on owning a schecter.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for about 16 years and have never made a whole bunch of money. Almost everything I have is used so I was really stoked about owning this Schecter as my first really "new" guitar. It sounded great in the store and great at home but like I said before in the context of a band it just gets lost. There are other models that Schecter offers that may be better than this one but over all I think the C1+ is a poor sounding guitar (for metal) that looks great. There's a reason most of the professionals in metal are using the ESP/LTD models. They f*cking sound better! I'm shooting myself in the dick for spending my money on this one. If you want to buy one that's already loaded with EMG's just contact me. We'll work something out.

Made in 2001, Korea built. 24 Fret guitar, I believe it's a solid flame maple top. 2 volume, one tone located conveniently for volume swells. H/H configuration, swapped out the awful Duncan Designed pickups for Gibson Custom Wired Burstbuckers. Mahogany Body with Maple top. Bridge came with a cheap tone-pros knockoff, replaced with the real deal. Tuners are grover. All round good features, string thru body gives great sustain.

Sound : 8
This guitar has a huge sound....warm and full and biting all at the same time. I am currently running this amp through a 5150 Signature head and a DSL 100 through 1960B Cabs, no effects. Effects are for the smart people. How can you people do all that damn switching. Guitar is noisy only because the pickups I placed in it are seriously wired very hot...guitar is limited to humbucking sound, sounds like a Les Paul, just not as heavy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Guitar was set up well, pickups adjusted ok when I got it, guitar had not visible flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 5
This is where the guitar gets a lower rating....I have been playing steady shows for over a year now and the first problem I had was that strings were breaking. After much berating from my band mates stating I play too hard etc etc I replaced the bridge with a Tone Pros. Best decision for this guitar. Have had 10 rehearsals, played the hell out of this thing and no string breakage. Hardware sucks!! period! The stock electronics and hardware is crap. I had this guitar re wired and new pots put in, only thing I didn't replace were the tuners. Never goes out of tune. I can literally restring this bastard and in 30 secs have it completely in tune. amazing. I replaced strap buttons with Dimarzio strap locks, once again the originals didn't hold up. I wouldn't gig without a backup because I beat the hell out of any guitar I play. This one's lucky to be alive.....poor 12 gauge strings.

Customer Support : 10
Schecter's customer support is great!!! I cannot rave enough. I just sent them an email sttg I lost the string ferrels (I think that's what they are..) the little doohickeys where the strings go, they sent me 12 new ones in the mail. Awesome!!!!

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing 3 years, my opinion of amp tone is terrible but I do know a good guitar when I play it. This guitar blows the Gibson Studios and SG specials out of the water as far as sound goes if you're willing to drop a couple hundred in it, if it were stolen I would castrate the poor moron who took it because I literally have blood caked around the pickup housing. Then I would get over it and then buy a flying V....or maybe a C-1 Stealth

This guitar is a flamed maple top and a marvelously resonant mahogany body and neck. The set neck that I have is first generation, before Schecter started making the Ultra-Access neck joint, but this is not nor has it ever has been a problem. The extra jumbo frets and sweet vector inlays make for an easily playable and altogether tasty fretboard. It comes equipped with two Duncan Designed humbuckers in it, which I have discovered are 95% identical to an average JB (in the bridge position) and a '59 (which is the neck pickup....duh...). This also came with a tonepros tune o matic bridge, and for your information, one of the saddles took a crap on me, but to be fair, that was after about 3 years of heavy playing. The neck is laquered, which takes some getting used to, but once you get past the sticky feeling on your thumb, you can't imagine it any other way.

Sound : 10
I couldn't believe at first how good this guitar sounded. When I first got it, I loved how fat it sounded through even the crappiest of amps, and after a couple of years of learning about guitar gear, I also figured out that the Duncan Designed humbuckers are great sounding, and I daresay that the non-JB that comes equipped in the bridge position sounds better than the actual JB. But that's my opinion. The guitar has great sustain, and I even used it for jazz gigs for a year, which it handled like a champion (through the right amp). The quality cannot be beaten for the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on this guitar was entirely too high when I got it, but I promply lowered it, and it plays like a dream. The neck joint was a little bit of an issue for me when they came out with the Ultra Access joint, but that's only because I was being covetous. The joint is fine. There were no apparent flaws from the beginning, and though I've had to do a bit of maintenance on it, it's mostly because I've had it for upwards of three years. ANd that's to be expected

Reliability/Durability : 10
The most reliable guitar of the new millenium. I could throw this thing off a cliff, climb down, pick it up, and play a show with it. The bridge crapped out after a couple of years, and my neck position volume knob has grown loose, but it took a good long while for all that to happen.

It rules, and anyone looking for a beautiful flame-top shredder needs look no further. It rules, basically.

This guitar hase some pretty sweet features. 2 volumes( 1 for each pick up) and a tone and a 3 way pick up switch.

Sound : 10
I play metal and this is really a rock/blues guitar, but the pickups are very nice and the mahogany body gives it a nice tone.I really like the sound and this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I think some people are on crack when they rated this guitar, becaue it is an extremely well built guitar. I mean its mohogany and the neck is set in the guitar. It has a very nice flamed maple top and sick chrome hardwear. definitly one of the best guitars on the market.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'v had it for a whil and i have not needed any repairs or any thing. I have no buzz and it stayed in tune quite nicely.

Customer Support : No Opinion
this is a very reliable guitar and i'v never needed it.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a extremely nice guitar for the price. It sound great and looks just as good. It wont break and is easy to use and shread.I highly recamend you get one if your looking for a bad ass guitar.

Features : 9
The features of this guitar met my particular needs. Solid body, double cutaway. I especially like the individual volume controls for each pickup. As for pickups, my intention when I purchased this guitar was to change to the pickups with genuine Seymour Duncans. I installed a SH-2 Jazz at the neck and SH-4 JB at the bridge. This really upgraded the quality of sound. I wanted this particular Schecter because of it's 24.75 inch scale. The Tone Pros and Grovers also give this guitar a nice touch of quality too. Beautiful sunburst finish and great setup from the factory. I've always played guitars with thinner frets, so the jumbo frets have taken some time to get used to, but they play great. Case not included

Sound : 10
I play mostly blues style rock style. My other guitars include a newer American Stratocaster with Vintage Noiseless pickups and a 1968 Gibson ES335. The Schecter is a great modern guitar that hold its own against either of these other guitars. Strong sound and sustain for both rock and blues. I play it 50/50 along with my Strat. Both are two very different instruments, and each fulfills a particular playing need. If you need a guitar based on humbuckers, you won't go wrong with the Schecter.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Great factory setup. Very little needed to be done with I received it. The finish is beautiful and nearly flawless--an incredible feat for a guitar in this (or any) price range. Electronics work very well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very reliable guitar and very well made. I could easily use this guitar without a backup at a gig.

Customer Support : 10
I contacted the company only once via email, and they responded promptly and enthusiastically.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall a great guitar for many players. Because of its price, you can afford to customize the pickups without much extra cost. My only concern when purchasing this guitar is that Schecter does not include a case with the purchase. Perhaps I'm a bit old school in this, but I think instrument makers should provide a good case (no bags please) with their guitars. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the purchase. I bought this guitar one year ago, therefore, I feel I've had it long enough to have a fair opinion.

Same as everyone else. 24 frets, 24.75" scale, Grover tuners, etc.

Only comment is that while the action is easy as cake to adjust (you don't even need a screwdriver if you're lowering it, or if you loosen the strings to raise it), but intonation was a pain. You have to loosen the string all the way, flop it over, adjust a nearly un-reachable little screw, tune up again, and then re-check. Took me more than 5 minutes per string when I did it before our last show.

Sound : 8
I play mostly death/heavy metal, but also a lot of blues/blues-rock/classic rock type stuff.

My biggest beef about this guitar would be the pickups. At high-gain settings, they show that they're a little weak, and they don't have the bite needed for AC/DC-style crunch. Trying to add more high mids/treble just turns to fuzz instead of bite. Other than that, the sound is great - the cleans would also benefit from better pickups, but if you like slightly "dim" (warm, if you want to put it that way, although they aren't bass-heavy) cleans, you'll love this guitar. I would have put better pickups in a long time ago, except the stock ones aren't so bad that I'm willing to dive into anything without doing the research. Overall this guitar has a warm sound that can get muddy if you aren't careful, but that will almost definitely be fixed when I put in better pickups. Great humbucker cleans (I freaking love the mixed pickup position, and the bridge cleans are surprisingly useable), great bridge distortion that you can control quite well with the tone knob.

Overall, 8, but I suspect it could go up to 9.5 with better pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
-It was pretty well set-up at the factory, but the action was a little high for my liking. I lowered it to the point where they're barely above the fretboard, and yet when I tuned to D-standard at band practise there was absolutely no fret buzz. I also later switched the .009's to .010's, and it didn't need a new set-up.
-Finish was bloody beautiful.
-Small black scuff mark at the 3rd fret on the cream outline of the neck, and another red one on the same cream part right in front of the neck pickup, but I think that was the guitar store's fault. Both marks have partially rubbed off over time.
-One thing I didn't like was that there was some sawdust in the pots/jack compartment. Shows a bit of laziness on the part of Schecter. It only takes 5 seconds to take a blow dryer or something to quickly clean it off.
-The finish is freaking beautiful, but there are some small flaws in it at the seams (for example, there's a slight dimple where the cream binding meets the set neck). It's all stuff you have to pore over the guitar with a fine-toothed comb for to notice, but I guess that's the difference between this guitar and a 5000$ Gibson.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Most of this guitar is very well-built. I've only ever bashed it once, and I'm shocked at how little damage the pointy piece of metal did to the top surface of the guitar (there's a scratch, but you can only see it from certain angles and under certain lighting). The neck is solid, and you can't bend notes just by shaking the headstock the way you can on some cheap guitars.

I partially stripped the neck strap peg putting straplocks in. While that was obviously partially my fault, I still didn't overdo it on the tightening. Makes me wonder if the wood was a little soft there. Anyway, no biggie, I stuffed the hole with a matchstick and haven't had any problems since. When I take it to the shop for problem number 2 I'll have them do something more permanent.

The other thing that pissed me off is the input jack. I've had the guitar less than a year, and I usually just leave the same cable plugged into it (I unplugged it twice a week up until now - to go to band practise, and to come home from band practise). Still, it got fried. I opened up the compartment at the back, and lo and behold - there was a scrawny little metal wire floating loose. Pretty cheap welding, if you ask me. I'll have to have that redone, which is too bad. How much could it possibly cost Schecter to splurge on a little more soldering metal?

There was also a small problem with the bridge volume knob that seems to have gone away. It was pretty minor, and only lasted a week or so, so I'm wondering if it was just a rust-related thing that got rubbed off. Still, I've gigged with it twice, and it hasn't failed me yet. Once I get the strap peg and input jack fixed, it should be a rock.

Customer Support : 6
I've dealt with them twice, and the contrast in treatment was sickening. The first time - before I bought it - I got a quick response that did a decent job of answering my questions (about the difference between Duncan Designed and real Duncan pickups, and another one about the bridge). Then a day later, the supervisor of the woman who had answered me sent me another e-mail that went much further into detail, and the guy made some specific recommendations that gave me a real sense that he had taken the time to personally answer a few questions because the person before him had only done a mediocre job.

So I figured, great, right? I liked the guitar, the guy had answered my questions honestly ("Duncan Designed pickups aren't the real thing, but are adequate enough to suit your needs until you really need that extra juice - most amateurs don't see the need to make the switch, but a lot of semi-pros and pros do"), etc. Then I brought the little baby home, and the bridge looked funny. I thought that the intonation screws were on backwards, because they seemed too awkward to have been designed that way - 2 e-mails, 3 days apart, and not a single answer from either the guy or the original woman. As it turns out, the bridge really was designed that way, and even if it hadn't it would have taken 15 seconds for one of them to tell me to loosen the strings, lift the bridge off (the metal piece that actually supports the strings is kept in place by tension, and actually isn't attached in any way to the guitar - if you hold it upside down with no strings on, it will fall off), flip it, and then re-tighten the strings. This attitude pissed me off, because customer support is about making people happy after the purchase, not before it.

Overall Rating : 8
This is the best guitar in its price range for my needs. Period. The other one I was looking at was a 400-level ESP LTD Viper, but I didn't like the cleans as much (the EMGs would have roared for metal, mind you). If you only play metal, you'll either need to sub the pickups or go for a more metal-oriented guitar, but both times I've played this guitar onstage (with my death metal band), it's gotten compliments about tone and style. It has great chunk, it's great for rhythm playing (leaves a lot to be desired in terms of upper-fret access if you compare it to shred guitars like Ibanez RG's), it has nice feel and balance, stays in tune for weeks and has beautiful inlays/finish. The only major flaw is the stock pickups, but let's face it - for another hundred bucks or so, this guitar would rival the big guys that cost 3 times as much. If it was stolen I'd either get another one or go for the Classic, which already comes with real Duncans. I would have done that originally if I had any way of magically making another 200$ appear in my pocket. This is the best guitar under 1500$ CDN that I've ever tried, and it only cost half that.

Tune-o-matic bridge

The best guitar in it's price range. Use it through an all tube 60 watt Peavey Ultra, which drives it nicely. It's a warm sounding guitar due to it's mahogany body but also the pickups play a role in the sound too. Guitar can do rock to metal, some blues. The pickups make the guitar sound muddy especially in the neck position. The bridge is a good "rocker". It can struggle in downtowning because it can get muddy. They're stock pickups and just like all stock pickups there not the best quality because they're copies of the good pickups. The Duncan Designed in this guitar are copies of the JB/Jazz combo. Don't get me wrong this guitar sounds decent but not something a professional would leave stock that's all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I got the guitar used and got it setup when i got it. I heard that schecter sets up the guitars in the states so i'm sure its good when it comes. The guitar looks beautiful. I have the charcoal finish which is discontinued. The inlays are sweet and the maple cap looks sweet. My only gripe is that the saddles on the bridge where crappy. I always had a problem with my D string breaking and I'm not a hard strummer. I got a setup done wanting to correct the problem but it didn't help. I then took it back and found out that the saddles in the schecter start to burr and make a jagged surface, which in turn causes friction with the string, thus making it break. I got a small file and it smoothed the burr, however it happened again and then i replaced the saddles with Graphtech ones. They rock. Anyway the tech said that Schecters have a rep for crappy saddles. In conclusion, the guitar is beatiful but if your strings start breaking like a mother, the replace them with Graphtech.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It a very solid guitar that I gig with regularly. I never gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
I been playing for over 5 years and I researched all the guitars in the Schecter's price range. This one, hands down, is the best for the money. If your super picky about sound, swap out the pickups for real Seymours and if your bridge gives you trouble put in some Graphtech saddles. Besides that a sweet looking guitar, with great features for a not so bank-killing price.

look below for its features... i dont feel like writing them.

Sound : 6
i play metal and jazz... for jazz.. i think this is a great guitar. It seems to have a nice, rich, full sound after i play around with the settings on my amp for a while. in fact im very impressed with the clean sound. now for playing metal... with a lot of distortion, this thing feeds back like crazy! even with a gate!.. i am not really impressed with the duncan designed pickups when it comes to distortion. the neck also seems rather slow to be doing solo's on.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
i think this guitar was tossed around a bit too much at the factory. the most annoying thing about the guitar is the the strings buzz like crazy!.. ive even taken it to the guitar store and they cant fix it!.. it dRIVES ME INSSSAANNNEEE!!!
BUT! the looks of the finish and the pearl inlay are absolutely stunning. looks like a prs somewhat

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
ive played it live a few times... it didnt break in half or anything like that... strap button are loose and my strap always falls off(this is the cause of my dings on my guitar) Be WARY!
the only reason i would use a back up is if a string broke.. I HATE THAT

ive been playing for about 8 years. i fell in love with the looks in a musicians friend catalog. i love the looks .. the sound is good for jazz.... if you play metal i would definately upgrade the pickups.. maybe that would help

Black Cherry finish 24 frets with 2 humbuckers, solid mahogany body and set thru neck, tune-o-matic bridge, Korean made pile of crap! I bought it brand new from Musicians Friend this year in 05 and sent it back after a month.

Sound : 2
I played the Schecter thru my Line 6 pod XT live into my Fender twin reverb and the pickups in this thing don't sound terrible on a clean setup but they create a lot of feedback on higer gain amp settings

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
the action setup sucked from the factory but i adjusted it and put different strings on it but it still played like crap. the finish is the only decent thing about this guitar but only at a distance because as you get close up to it you can definately see the flaws. this thing just feels like a piece of junk as your holding it. It does NOT stay in tune which is suprising considering it is a string thru design.

Reliability/Durability : 2
I would never use this guitar live, I had it for about a month and really wanted to like this guitar, but it is such a marvelous pile of something that comes out of the north end of a south bound dog, that i had to send it back to M.F.

Im 35 and I've been playing on and off since i was about 15 and finally started getting serious about it in the last 5 years, and have been in a couple of bands. I've played or owned about every guitar you could imagine and I'd like to think I know a well built guitar shortly after playing one, and maybe i just got a lemon from M.F. but this guitar is the worst thing I've ever had in my hands, I can't believe some of the good reviews that people are giving this guitar but like i said, i may have gotten a lemon, it does happen.

I purchased the guitar (2003 model) in second hand. It came moded with Duncan designed pickups (the same as usual).
It got 3 way switching with seperate tone controls for each pickup, mahogany body with a flamed maple top, set neck, rosewood fingerboard, Tune-O-Matic Bridge with string thru body. Intonation was not so good in the beginning but after some fixes and a several houers of plying the guitar became more reliable.
The original Duncan-disigned pickups sounded a little bit to weak so I replacded them with real "Lundgren Pickups" (www.lundgren.se).

Sound : 9
I play a lot of diferent music (pop, rock, clasics, metal etc.).
After I switched out the stock pickups for some real special ordered Lundgren Pickups, the guitar just came to life.
Now I can get a great sound from all of the positions of the pick-shifter.
With the stock pickups the sound rating would be 4/10...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
After some adjustments the guitar is super (compared to cheaper models of Gibson and PRS)...

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I would never do a gig whitout a backup guitar but this one is good enough as a single guitar. It's totally reliable.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing about 16 years and am extremely happy with this guitar especially at this price. It has the fit and finish, quality construction and components found on much more expensive guitars (Gibson/PRS) after the switch to "Lundgren Pickups" (www.lundgren.se).
I usually play Fender's and common guitars and this guitar was the right choice for a new sound and feeling like (Gibson, PRS etc.).
