I believe mine is a 2003 model and its made in Korea. It has 24 frets, Antique Amber finish. Basic controls are 3 knobs, 2 volume and 1 tone, with a 3 way switch. The Pickups are Duncan Designed humbuckers, in H/H configuration. This model features the string-thru body tailpiece.

Now for my opinion:

It has all the key features that are necessary to play rock/hard rock/metal/alternative etc. It has the high output humbuckers, the obligatory toggle switch, etc etc. Its not lacking any features. What more do you want!

Sound : 10
This guitar is perfect for my music style which is a blend of Hard Rock and Metal, with a bit of Alternative thrown into it. The guitar has a lot of sustain and it was setup perfectly from the factory. I use it with a PODxt directly into my recording gear and the tone is unreal. Well I find the pickups to be a bit bassy if you are going for clean tones, but distorted they are great. The most amazing part is that it stays in tune no matter how badly I abuse the strings. I've had guitars that stay in tune before, but not with this much abuse and playing. I've only tuned it once in 4 weeks and I've been playing everyday!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came setup perfectly. It looks beautiful. All the parts worked as expected, the guitar was also in tune. That was kind of amazing. Since I ordered it online and didn't expect that. There isn't a single flaw in the finish. Its basically a $1000 guitar for half that price!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't know much about this section yet. As I've only had it for a month now. But from what I can see, the quality is there and there is no reason this guitar should have problems holding up to any amount of reasonable abuse. This is probably the first guitar I would attempt to gig without a backup. I get a good feeling from its build quality that everything inside and out has been done right.

I've been playing guitar for 13 years and I have owned PRS, Epi Les Paul, Fender American Strat, Parker Nitefly, Jackson V, Ibanez RG, etc. My favorite until this guitar was the PRS, I only sold it because I wasn't playing much and couldn't justify it. Now that I am playing again, I bought this and all I can say is, its the best guitar I have owned. For this price, you are playing a professional instrument that could be played in a stadium arena setting or in a local club or in a garage. I would definitely buy it again if it got stolen or lost. I love the whole package. Its the complete package that makes this guitar so sweet. Its lighter than my Strat, its got better metal/rock tone than most of my other guitars, its cheaper than the strat. I love everything about this guitar. The Antique Amber is the color to have. I was very torn between the Black Cherry or Antique Amber and I'm glad I did the Amber. Its very dark dark brown, with the grain showing in different angles. I compared all the other C1 models from Schecter and the C1+ had the color combo and the features I wanted. If you are in the market for a guitar in this price range and caliber, get the Schecter, you won't be disappointed. If you REALLY want a PRS, get the Schecter and change the pickups to PRS!

Features are nice- Mahogany body with figured top, set mahogany neck, tune-o-matic bridge, string through the body, dual Duncan Design humbuckers, etc etc etc.

Sound : 6
Okay, the sound from the store was alright in my opinion, but not great. The pickups just didnt do it for me, they were very muddy, not really clear at all. I play punk rock/hardcore stuff, but Im pretty anal about my tone, so I needed something with more definition. I played around with a few different pickup combos in this guitar, going from a real Duncan JB and the Duncan Design neck p/u, to a Gibson Burstbucker and no neck pickup, and now Ive finally settled on a Duncan 59 and no neck ( I dont use the neck pickup much anyways). I used this with a Mesa Boogie Triaxis rack setup, but in the past few weeks Ive sold it for a Rectoverb, cause I only really used a few different patches on the Triaxis anyways. But It sounds great now through both, very full, very complex really. I love it. But I have to rate this as it stood from the store, and that wasnt as great...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I have mixed feelings about this... the finish is a superb, well done, eye-popping, black cherry finish, with a figured top, which Im not sure is real or fake, but it doesnt matter to me. The overall look of the instrument is just awesome. The action is nice for me too, not too low (I dont like it terribly low, I cant bend as well) but not a mile over the frets either. It plays very easy. But my MAJOR gripe about this guitar is the bridge. Im not sure what model of bridge they put on here, but I break strings constantly, not just one, but the e,a,d,and g strings, all the time, and they always break at the bridge. Ive had this guitar set up and everything, and the repair shop filed down the bridge slots for me, but it doesnt help, I still break them like crazy. This could reflect my playing style, too, cause when I get into it, I pretty much beat the crap out of the strings. But none of my other guitars go through strings as fast. I was told it could be the angle of the strings coming off the back of the bridge, which is great, because its non-adjustable. One time, I broke an A string at the bridge as I was putting it on the guitar, stretching it out.... and that shouldnt be happening.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar holds up to live playing very well, its my main stage guitar, but I do have to keep my backup close because I can almost guarantee I will break a string every night. The only other reliability issue I had with it was the strap buttons started pulling out of the wood after about 6 months, but thats because I jump and thrash around a lot on stage. Super glue fixed that problem nicely. So no point deductions there.

Ive never dealt with Schecter

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing for 5 years, and Im in a touring band, so I needed something that would sound great, play easy, be reliable, night after night, for around $500. Thats a lot to ask of a guitar, but I found it in the Schecter C1+. This guitar fits my style well, with the pickup change. The potential of this instrument more than makes up for the lacking sound of the stock pickups. Once I figure out the string breaking problem, I wouldnt be afraid to put it up against any Les Paul for sound quality, reliability, and looks. And it kicks its ass in the value department at the same time.

You know the lineup - mahogany body and neck, carved, flamed maple veneered top, 24 jumbo frets, stop-bar tail piece, Les Paul 24-3/4" scale, easy on the eyes.

Sound : 7
I bought this guitar somewhat on a whim. I had seen it in several catalogs, and one came up on Ebay inexpensively, so I tried it. It was to partially replace two of my guitars that were stolen - a Carvin and a Charvel. To be honest, those are actually some rather large shoes to fill.

The pickups on the Schecter, as I'm sure is mentioned in the other reviews, are a Jazz at the neck, and JB at the bridge. Both are the overseas-made "Duncan Designed" versions. I don't have first hand experience with the originals, but these both left me wanting for more. The Jazz pickup at the neck is fabulous for exactly that - jazz. Don't expect much more, though. I felt it was a bit muddy and didn't hold chord definition very well - especially when distortion is added to the mix. It's a great mellow pickup, but I'd prefer something with a little clearer sound.

The bridge pickup would be great for higher output situations, where you really want to crank. (It should be noted that both pickups are higher output than I'm used to.) This one gives pretty decent definition to the individual notes, even with pretty heavy distortion. However, it still lacked a little "something". Not sure what. I'm not a death metal player, so I'm not sure how well it would hold up for that. But for a more "classic" sound, this one would do well.

I think that having the solid mahogany body and neck is a pretty major advantage for this instrument. Swapping out pickups would probably make this an ideal instrument. As it stands, it does a pretty decent job of recreating the Les Paul sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar is actually quite beautiful. I still can't believe you can get a carved top guitar as cheap as you can today. That's definitely a nice touch. I'm assuming the top on this thing is just veneered, and I would say that it looks quite a bit better than many of the "flamed tops" I've seen lately. Most lack any depth. I've come from a couple of previous guitars that have solid figured tops, and there is a difference (for those that care). This one has more depth than most, which is nice. The finish is quite good, even after a couple different owners.

I did a quick and dirty setup on the guitar, which pretty much amounted to adjusting the action a hair, and tweaking the intonation. I'm a huge fan of the shorter scale, as I like the play as easy as possible. This one delivers.

The neck has sort of an "in between" feel. It's a pretty standard width, and perhaps slightly thicker than standard. Actually, quite a bit like a LP neck. I'm used to slightly thinner necks, but this was still very comfortable. One thing I wasn't thrilled about was the gloss finish on the neck. Kind of gets a slimy feel to it after a while. Personal pet peeve I guess.

The neck inlay is considerably more complex than it would appear in most photos you would see. Looks like it would be a bit of a process to do the work. It's a dot and two "V's", in abalone and mother of pearl. Nice touch.

Everything about the guitar oozes with quality, which I guess one would expect from a guitar in it's price range. Still, you do get a lot for what you are paying for.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'm at least the second owner of this instrument, which is only 2 or 3 years old. The input jack comes loose occasionally, and the tone pot is a little scratchy (does anyone actually use that thing anyway?). Otherwise it seems to be a very durable instrument. Picking up the guitar immediately instills a sense of quality. It's a bit heavier than your average strat-type instrument. I think it's a bit thicker in the center, and the denser mahogany adds a good solid feel, and a nice natural resonance. It's a bit lighter than a real Les Paul, which is nice if you ever have to strap it on.

I think this is a great guitar for someone stepping up from a "beginner" guitar. To be honest, if the electronics were a bit better, I couldn't see any reason to own anything more expensive. This thing is pretty well decked out in the visual department, so there's not a whole lot higher to go. It's definitely one of the best guitars in it's price range, and a clear step up from all of the cheap Strat and Les Paul knock-offs. It's got it's own distinct and unique look, which I really appreciate. It's not a punk instrument, so us non-deathmetal guitarists can feel comfortable playing it in front of other people. My only complaint is really with the pickups. If they were a little more refined, I think I could recommend this guitar to ANYONE.

I've been playing for about 15 years, and have owned Charvel, Yamaha, Ibanez, Ovation, Guild and a couple of Carvins. The C-1 Plus fits in somewhere in the middle, in my opinion.

I play melodic rock to hard rock to metal, and this guitar does it all. The bridge pickup sounds so good that I usually leave it on all the time. If you want blues/jazz though, the neck pickup is great for that.

The pickups are REALLY hot. This is great for distortion, but sometimes the clean gets distorted as well.

For crunch and lead, this axe is really really good. I cannot say that enough!

Makes my marshall sound SOOO much better than my strat.

My only real complaint is how it distorts clean channels sometime, but this can be fixed with tweaks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
AWESOME! PRS action and finish with no PRS price! Cant complain here!

Reliability/Durability : 8
Great. I used this guitar for about 4 months now in my serious working band. I have had no problems.

The first one I bought had the pickup go out the second day, but guitar center replaced it and now I have no problems.

The only complaints I have is that the G string seems to get out of tune more than the other strings, and that sometimes the guitar distorts clean sounds.

GREAT guitar. I would compare it to a PRS, minus the versatility though.

A Crunch and Lead monster!

Made in 2002. Grover tuners are what they are. The Duncan design pickups suit me just fine. Almost as good as the real thing. Nice thin fast neck, and jumbo frets. I also got the diamond series gig bag with it. Nice thick padding and constructed to last. These guys know how to make a guitar-I'd put it up against any strat, les paul or tele in it's class and then some.

Sound : 10
Great warm tones for jazz. Killer crunch for rockin' and playing da Blues!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The main reason for getting this baby is the fit. I didn't have to adjust anything. I got lucky-it was set up at the factory perfectly for me. The action is great! This guitar is a factory 2nd. Has a really tiny "2" stamped in the last fret. It's so small that if you weren't aware of it you'd never know it was there. I can't find any flaws in this guitar that would make it a 2nd. Great quality control from the factory. Maybe they use microscopes!

Reliability/Durability : 9
Finish is great, although I haven't had the guitar too long, but it'll probably hold up fine-I treat my guitars better than my own family-ouch! Hope they don't read this!

2002 model, black cherry, 24 frets. 2 volume, 1 tone, 3 - way selector. two humbuckers (duncan designed), mahogany neck and body.

Sound : 6
it's pretty good for most types of music that i play - jazz, blues, alt-rock, occasionally some hard rock.

the stock neck pickup is decent, but i'm having a problem with the bridge pickup. it's weak and anemic, and adjusting it causes other problems (more on this later). Still, they're decent pickups (for a lower-cost stock guitar), and some nice clean and blues tones can be gotten from the neck.

BTW: the low(er) rating in this category just means that i don't find the sound outstanding. it doesn't mean it's bad.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
this is what sold me on the guitar. In my opinion, the way the guitar feels is the most important quality in a guitar - pickups and other hardware can be changed for a better sound, but the playability is paramount. The action on this guitar was perfect when i picked it up in the store, and the neck played fast and comfortably. the finish seemed (seems) fine and looks beautiful, and the guitar sustained amazingly well.

There was one problem that i noticed a couple days after i got the guitar - the bridge pickup was so high that touching the lowest string produced an annoying buzz sound. it took awhile for me to figure out what was causing it - the string was hitting the bridge pickup! this was easily fixed with a screwdriver.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
i think this guitar would do well playing live, but i certainly wouldn't throw it around. the finish has a few bumps in it from the guitar hitting walls, etc. The hardware looks solid, except i've had to tighten the output jack a couple of times - typical with most guitars. the strap buttons themselves seemed solid, but i was sick of the strap falling off so i replaced them with straplocks. I would use it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
i've been playing about 2 years, and i had only been playing for about a year when i bought it. I'd definitely buy it again - or, something similar. maybe the c-1 elite because it seems similar, except without the amazing top and with better pickups. this guitar is perfect for me - i'm planning on replacing the pickups soon, but like i said, the feel is the most important thing. probably my favorite part about it is the neck - not too thin, not too fat. probably the only part i don't like is the easily dinged finish - i wish it was more robust.

I compared this guitar to a les paul, a couple strats, and a prs. To me, this guitar sounded better than the strats, played better than the les paul, and felt exactly like the prs! I chose this because it was cheap, and it felt good, unlike most of the other guitars i played.

A new 2003 model, black cherry, beautiful finish and flame top. 24 frets, mahogany body, maple top/set maple neck, rosewood fretboard, grover tuners, tone pros locking tune-o matic, dual seymour duncan design p/u's (59 in neck, JB in bridge), nice double cutaway design, 2 vol, 1 tone, 3 way selector, average in features.

Sound : 10
The sound is suprisingly versitile, I go from a nice dreamy mellow clean bit, to all out balls to the walls gain, it can do it all with a little tweeking of amp and tone/vol knobs. I put 11's on it and it has so much more depth, it sounds heavenly. I might get the humbuckers taped to make it even more versitile.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The set up is your average middle of the road set up. The finnish is great, a tiny flaw here and there maybe, but thats to be expected with anything, I've seen most gibsons these days with terrible finnishes. Quality of materials is top notch. I added schaller strap locks of course. Had it set up and put 11's on it andit plays like a dream.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Like a tank, hasn't failed me yet in hours of playing

I love it and would get it again. I play it strait into my crate 120 watt 2x12 combo and it sings beautifully. I am just gonna coil tap the p/u's and make this the ultimate tone machine, check it out, it's not just a hard rock guitar, it can cover lot of terrain.

You know them by now... I just wish it had better pickups than the stock ones.

Sound : 9
Great tone comes out of the stock pickups but i wish they had a higher output. They crunch up nicely through a tube amp though. The guitar's sound really responds form how you play it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Average setup. Not the way i like it. But i always end up changing the setup on a guitar. I like 11 guage strings. Not those 10 guage strings that come stock on it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Didnt like the original strap buttons that came on it stock. Put some dunlop strap locks on it. I think this guitar will last for a long time if not abused.

2002 model - I think. Vintage Sunburst color. Comes with the TonesPro bridge which wasn't secured (as I found out when I changed the strings and it went bouncing merrily across my floor). Y'all know the rest. Not a feature-laden guitar but was exactly what I was looking for.

Sound : 8
Even with the "Duncan Lite" pickups in it, this thing is pretty ballsy. I was especially impressed with the neck pickup sound which is great for slightly overdriven blues tones. They both kick out a surprising amount of bass - I can see why all those nu-metal weenies are using these guitars. I'll probably follow the advice of all the others and get better pickups put in it eventually but the stock ones do the job well enough for now. They are hands-down better than the "Duncan Lites" that came stock in my ESP H-200. I'm currently running it through a Boss GT-6 and Digitech Whammy II into a Peavey Bandit 112. I'm hoping to upgrade to a Fender Hotrod soon though and try very hard to forget my days of rocking out with the anemic-as-fuck peavey tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Yeah it's got it's tiny flaws here and there as any mass produced guitar will have. Nothin' major though. Besides the little bridge incadent, there's a small blemish between the pickups that looks like a fingertip smudge in the paint. It's not really noticible - a friend didn't notice it until I pointed it out to her. I could see why everybody has been having issues with the XJ frets as they do require a light touch with the stock strings. I imediately switched those for a set of 11's and the problem went away. The bridge pickup volume pot is scratchy and drops out a full volume which is odd for a new guitar and would piss me off except I plan on tinkering with the wiring anyways. I'm going to set it up with a master volume followed by a bass rolloff tone knob followed by the standard treble rolloff tone knob. I'm also thinking about using push-pull tone knobs so I can split the coils.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I ain't going to be throwing this one across the stage like i've done to a few of my other guitars but this one looks like it could take a beating. The neck didn't bow as much as other guitars have when I upgraded to the 11's which seems to indicate that it's nice and strong - good since when a set neck goes, the guitar is fucked.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with them in the nine hours I've had it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for fourteen years and own far too much musical gear to mention. The main reason I traded for this guitar was the scale leingth. My ESP was allright but with the longer scale leingth, it couldn't handle the 11's I like to play with. My other main electric it a mid-80's Ibanez Roadstar 440 that also has the shorter scale leingth. Though I treasure my Ibanez (it's what I started out on), I think this guitar will fast become my #1 axe. It's got the same feel that the Ibanez has (sadly without the unfinished neck though) but it's a hardtail which makes it much more reliable onstage than my floyd-equipped Ibanez and a whole hell of a lot easier to put into alternate tunings.

First off... Wow! I was impressed when I picked up this baby. I've been playing guitar for a while now, enough to know what I like and what I don't. I came into the Guitar Center looking for a good guitar that wouldn't break the bank. I looked at some high end Epiphones and a Gretch, but was really dissapointed in the quality of the guitars, especialy with the high prices. When I picked up the C-1 plus it was love at first sight!

Sound : 9
I play through a Carvin Belair 2x12 amp and this thing rocks! I can get everything form a real classic rock sound to a smooth and clean jazz. The solos are tight and the notes are real easy to bend. The set up was excellent! The pick up switches are crisp and clean. My only dislike is that the you need to have both volume knobbs on to turn on the guitar, but thats the only thing I could comment on.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is smooth. Wow. Bending notes comes easy and the neck slides exceptionaly well for being finished. The guitar is just gorgeous! Check out www.schecterguitars.com to see some pics.

Reliability/Durability : 10
so far it's been real dependable, and I have a feeling the guitar will hold it's value.

Overall it's a great guitar. It may not have the gold plating or american made luxury items that a gibson has, but it has a sound and playability that gibson could have trouble matching.
