The features are great for the money, Jumbo Frets, Beatiful Laquer Finishes, Flamed Maple Top on Mahogany Body and neck, Duncan Designed HB102 Humbuckers, Coil splitting, Pearl and Abalone neck inlays, Grover tuners, Neck Thru Set Neck, what more could you ask for?

Sound : 10
Very quiet. Very versatile in sound. Has GREAT tone! Not too dirty lets the Amp provide the distortion. These Duncan HB-102's are AWESOME I can't figure out for the life of me why so many people say they aren't that great and want to switch them out for other pickups because I find they are super! They are like really HOT!! HOT!! HOT!! Very sensitive almost like Active Pickups in Passive clothing but I find them to be very clear and distinct with awesome tone. Not too Bright, not too bassy, but just right. Maybe the folks complaining about the pickups need to check their amp instead of the pickups. I can get anywhere from pristine clean by adjusting the volume slightly to plenty of Chunka, Chunka Metal tone but I am playing through a Marshall JVM 410 Head and 1960A Cab which can make a Tinker Toy sound good. But seriously this guitar has awesome sound. I like it better than my Les Paul Custom with Burstbucker Pro's.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is outstanding and the finish is superb. Mine is the Dark Brown Sunburst which I like to call a Root Beer looking color with the Gorgeous Flamed Maple Top, the binding is super and the neck and frets are smooth and excellent quality. The Craftsmanship is excellent and I put it right up there or above Epiphone Quality which I also believe is very good for your money. Shecter has some GREAT Finishes and the inlay work on the neck is awesome. This is a thing of beauty not just a musical instrument.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I believe the pickups are awesome and will last for a long time however, the only weak thing I find on this guitar is the quality of the pot's. They're using these flimsy little pot's that may not last all that long and the tone switch (push/pull) is delicate as I had to repair mine the day I bought it. Ashamed to put such cheap electronics into such a nice guitar. But they may last a long time if they are not abused. I would have put in higher quality pot's though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know about this as I just got mine today but have been thinking about getting it for about 8 months.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall I will give this guitar an OUTSTANDING Rating. The sound is awesome, the quality of construction is second to none and matches guitars costing 2 to 3 times as much. Schecter has some really beautiful finishes to choose from but it would be nice to have more choices of finish in different models too. Like I said they do use el cheapo electronics other than their pickups which I think are great, so if they would just put a little extra money in the POT's and use some decent Quality Heavy Duty ones it would be nearly perfect but I will still give it a 10 because it is still a spectacular value and I would put it up against guitars costing 3 times as much.

Newer model, but not sure what year, made in Korea. It has the "Diamond Series" in small letters under the Shecter logo on the headstock, while the older models have "Diamond Series" in large letters running the length of the headstock.

It is mahogany with a dark cherry flame top, but no sunburst like the newer ones. Creme binding. Rosewood board with pearl and abalone inlays. Beautiful guitar.

Duncan Designed humbuckers, 3 way switch with Vol\Vol\Tone knobs. Tonepros TOM bridge and string through body. Pretty basic features. Mine does not have the push\pull coil tap on the tone control like the current models.

Sound : 9
Very versatile. The set neck and strings through body give this guitar tons of sustain. The Duncan Designed pickups are hot and sound great. I have read reviews that say they are muddy, but I find them to be pretty bright myself. Tone is very subjective though. This guitar is a rock machine, and also sounds very good for blues. Surprisingly good clean tones too, especially in the middle position.

I have played the newer model C1+ with coil tap ability at GC and it is OK, not that great. A humbucker with one coil disabled does not sound as good as a normal single coil. You cannot tap the coils on one of these and make it sound like a Strat. It is close but no cigar. If you want a Strat sound, play a Strat. So it is really not worth the hassle for me to want to add a coil tap in my particular C1+.

In the middle position, with both pickups on, it can sound pretty close to a Tele if you fiddle with the volumes for each pickup. Dual volume knobs is the way to go. Apparently PRS is just now figuring this out!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This is a beautiful guitar. The only flaws I could find on it were some sanding scratches on the fretboard. The inlays, binding and finish are near flawless. You could hang this on the wall just to stare at as a piece of art. Quality work coming out of Korea these days.

I bought it used and the previous owner had the action a little too low for my taste. I raised it some, but it is still an insanely low and fast action.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar feels very solid. The electronics and switches may go after a while but not a big deal to replace.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dont know. Schecter's website is kind of silly, the way they cater to the "scary" metalheads. They seem to be doing well, so more power to 'em. They are sure putting out quality guitars for low prices.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing over 30 years and play all types of music. I have several Strats, a Tele and Les Paul Special with P90s. I wanted a mahogany, set neck, humbucking guitar for those serious heavy rock\blues rock tones. I am really a single coil guy, and love P90s but lets face it, there's a certain sound that only humbuckers can give you.

I did not want to spend much because I play Strats most of the time, so this ruled out Gibson (overpriced anyway). I compared the Schecters to Ibanez and preferred Schecter, despite their somewhat goofy "scary metalhead" marketing scheme. I really liked the C1 Classic, but the vine inlay on the neck was just way over the top and distracting. So I went with the C1+, and I dont regret it. Found one on Ebay in perfect shape for a great price. It delivers the rock tone and looks amazing to boot. Great job, Schecter! These guitars easily compare to guitars by the big guitar makers that cost twice as much. Great value. And if you dont like the stock pickups, its easy to upgrade them. They are fine for my needs.

I have a 2005 Schecter c-1plus made in "korea" according to the headstock but it's really south korea. This guitar has two duncan design humbuckers that sound pretty good. they can be "tapped" into single coils by pulling out the tone knob. It has a beautiful flammed maple top and a mahgony back and neck with a rosewood fingerboard.

Sound : 10
I usually play a lot of zeppelin and other 60's and 70's stuff and this guitar is well suited for that and many other styles. i also use it for blues, heavy metal, and a pretty good clean sound too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
i bought this guitar on ebay from a store in new york that hadn't sold it in 3 years. the guitar was ready to play right out of the box. no complaint's about the setup.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I can and have taken just this guitar to gigs. it is very realiable and work great live. it has grover tuners and will stay in tune except my g string will be the first one to be out of tune, but that takes a few days to happen.

The C-1 plus I bought was purchased from ebay. The person who owned before me told me that he owner the guitar for about 2 years. The model of this schecter is one of the original diamond series models where the diamond series logo is in between the tuning knobs rather than right below the word "schecter" like most of the new ones are. To start off, this guitar came equipped with a dimarzio fred pickup as the neck and a seymour duncan Sh-14 custom 5 as the bridge pickup. the volume knobs were push pull knobs where I could isolate each coil from each humbucker meaning I had a total of 8 different configurations pickup wise. This is just a disclaimer about the guitar I received off eBay, but I made several modifications to turn it into the guitar of my dreams.

Sound : No Opinion
Considering I had completely different pickups than what the guitar normally comes with I can't really make an informed description of what the stock pickups sound like. I play jazz/funk/rock/fusion stuff (think john scofield, derek trucks, eric krasno, AND greg howe) so I threw out my neck pickup(formerly a DImarzio Fred) and replaced it with a seymour duncan SH-55 seth lover pickup. I ended up liking the SH-14 custom in the bridge so I kept it. With my guitar's new setup it sounds AWESOME. It now has just the sound I've been looking for. Nice and smooth cleans with the neck pickup and a wailing CRAZY HOT bridge. I'm going to keep this rating as a no opinion because I have no experience with the stock pickups, but honestly I'de give it a ten with the pickups I have in it now.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action? The fit? The finish? AWESOME!!!! I love every single bit about this guitar. It feels so nice in my hands and it plays soooo well. And since I got the Black Cherry finish on the guitar......SEXY AS HELL. PLus I got my local shop to put a bone nut on the guitar and get my action really low, so its playability has increased tenfold. Even before I got it fixed up by my shop it still played nice as hell. Also I play with 11s so those jumbo frets come in handy.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Its nice and light so I don't expect to drop it or mess it up any time soon. Its built really well so I think I can rely on it

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to contact Schecter.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this guitar is just plain awesome. If you get it for a cheap price, try installing some nice pickups in it. Replace the pots. Get a new nut and you are set. Well worth all of the work I put into it, I give it an A++++

Previous reviews cover the specs
quilted maple tobacco burst finish
My guitar was never wired for push pull pots.

Sound : 6
My main playing style would be blues rock with a little bit of jazz and funk thrown in.Guitar is pretty verstaile but the overall sound really depends on the pickups.I use a peavey classic 50 4/10. The sounds with the stock pickups is pretty bad.T he pickups give an unbalnced and overall disappointing tone. The bridge pickup sounds hollow and way to chimey and nasaly with terrible overall treble sounds. The stock neck pickup sounded to dark, with not much tonal definition. Though changing the pickups is key with this guitar. I replaced the neck pickup with a Duncan 59 and its like I got a compltely new guitar. The sound is blanced with a good overall warmth and a good midrange tone with plenty trebles. Have yet to change the bridge pickup but Just for a comparsion, my neck pickup has a has better definition on treble sounds than the stock bridge pickup. Without changing the stock pickups its a 6, with the change i would give it about an 8.5 to a possible 9 depending on what your looking for sound wise . As a note the stock pickups may have gotten better since 2005 or maybe I just got a bad set.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on the guitar was perfect. No buzzing, prety low, and great fretwork by the factory. Great playing guitar and with good blanced neck on it. Not going to find a much faster guitar without buying a compound radius neck(Ibanez Rg,saber). Not going to find a better playing guitar at this price. The bookmatching on the top is good, but not perfect. Intonation is right on. Great setup from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Never gigged with this one but im sure it would be fine. Dependable guitar. Loses points because the chrome bridge finish didnt hold-up, Both plastic pickup holders broke in time, and the frets have worn down quite a bit in some places. To be fair it is 3 years old and I play quite a bit so this kinda of wear and tear is expected

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing 4 + years now and own 4 other guitars. I dont own any fender or gibsons because you pay way too much for the logo on the headstock. Its a great overall deal and with a pickup change the guitar really comes alive. The guitar tech who did changed my pickups couldnt believe how much the sound changed for the better. In my opinion one of the best values for your money out there.

Aside from that, I know it was made in Korea, probably within the last five years. It also has passive electronics. The one I bought came with an amazing hard shell custom fitted case with velvet interior.

Sound : 9
I play a few different styles of music and I need a guitar that is versatile. I cover a pretty broad spectrum, playing metal and rock one day, to reggae and bluegrass the next. I mainly play through a Sunn Model T head with a Fender 2x12 cab. I've had no problem achieving the sounds I need. I find the neck setting is superb for cleaner tones while the brige pickup is smoking hot when playing with higher gain. I use a Maxon OD808 though, so I can get my distortion sounding pretty good with any guitar I own. The middle toggle position is also very rich/full sounding as well and can handle almost any amount of gain or reverb. I find the middle position on most guitars I've played to be kind of messy but the Schecter does a great job of blending the two pickups. The guitar also handles all of my effects well.

Likes: Amazing tonal range.
Dislikes: The ability to switch from humbucker to single coil is a nice feature but I find it loses a bit of punch when you go single That could be due to the fact that you're only using half of the pickup(s). I don't really care though, as I'm always on the humbucker setting.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar was set up so well when it got to my door that I haven't even bothered to tweak anything yet. This guitar plays smooth and lightning fast right out of the box. The action is near perfect, although I'm going to try lowering it just a touch next time I change strings. The pickups are set up great. The finish is immaculate and the inlays are stunning and unique. Nothing is loose or flawed in any way. Everything is as it should be.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I play live gigs on a regular basis but I've only had this guitar for a couple of months. So far, it passes the test hands down. The toggle switch and knobs are solid. The strap buttons seem tight. It's still far too early to tell just how reliable this guitar is though. I haven't needed to use my backup yet, so you can't argue with that. I'll give this a 9 based on the fact that it's exactly the same after several shows as it was when I got it. But it has yet to stand the test of time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Thankfully, not an issue.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing guitar for about 12 years. I own an Epiphone SG and a Fender Toronado. This guitar is light, similar to the SG, and plays faster than either. The tonal range of the Schecter pretty much eliminates the need of either of my other two guitars (although I'll probably never sell them). I did my homework before I bought this guitar and it payed off immensely. This has to be one of the best guitars you can buy for under $1000. It looks stunning, plays as fast and effortless as your fingers will allow, and it sounds good in practically any style. I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever.

I bought this guitar Blind over the internet from the states in 2007, I opened the box and just went WOW!!!, I could not believe what I had got for the price.

All the features are well listed in the other reviews

Sound : 10
I play in an Indy rock band and find it suits most styles I want to play, having said that if I felt I needed a more twangy sound I would pick up my Tele anyway, My rig is 1980's Roost head and a Laney cab, on the floor I am using a Tubescreamer with the 808 mod, a boutique fuzzface clone, a Snarilng Dogs black ball Wah, and vintage Frontline Delay, Chorus and Flanger.
I find rth e Duncan designed PUP's give very rich, powerful and full sound with a minimum of hum and background noise

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action was good when I got the guitar but I did drop it a fraction to suit me, neck is very fast and comfortable, and the finish on both neck and body puts my US Tele and my Gibson 335 to shame, quality control is out of this world

Reliability/Durability : 10
Everything about the way this guitar screams well made and durable, I took the cover off to check all the wiring joints looked ok and could not believe how neat the wiring was, It has yet to let me down but I never gig without a backup these days

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing on and off for 40+ years and currently have 2 Jap Strats, A 52Ri Tele, A Gibson 335 and a couple of Yamaha CPX acoustics, When I pick up a guitar it is usually the Schecter or my favorite Strat, these two being the best players, the Tele and Gibson and second Strat come out when I feel guilty about not using them.
I will probably buy another at sometime, and would definitely replace it if it were stolen, even If I had to sell one of the others to do so.
This guitar just feels RIGHT!!

My C-1 Plus is a 2008 model made in Korea. It has 24 frets on a rosewood fretboard. Is carved top body with black cherry flamed finish. Body and fretboard have antique white binding. Pickup configuration is dual humbucker (duncan-designed) burstbucker style. Bridge is a tone-pro with string-thru design. Grover tuners are standard. 1 tone knob with two volumes for each humbucker, the first humbucker can be coil tapped with the push/pull tone knob. Is also available with floyd-rose for you Van-halen or Neal Schon fans. Chock-full of features for a guitar in this price range.

Sound : 9
My style of music is fairly wide. I play anything from country, christian, to metal. Most of my playing is lead-oriented in which I strive for a singing, almost vocal sound to my leads. I try to shape my tone in a way that it comes out of the amplifier with a thick, fluid, sustain with my mids and treble at about 6 and my lows at 7-8. I try to acheive this warm sound with any amount of gain that I use which usually ranges from clean-blues-ozzy-disturbed, if that makes any sense. I play this guitar thru a Peavey Joe Satriani signature JSX tube Head with matching signature 4x12 cabinet. The only effects I used are a bit of digital delay to make the notes sing and rarely a Steve Vai Bad Horsie wah pedal. To describe what this guitar sounds like, I feel I have to tell about my search for this guitar. I initially had 2 guitars that I was seriously looking at buying. Price was not a concern as I had in my mind that I was going to buy what I wanted in order to suit my style. The 3 guitars I had my search narrowed down to were an Ibanez JS1000 Joe Satriani signature, a Steve Vai Jem, and a Gibson Les Paul Classic, all of which are very versatile guitars. Then I picked up the Schecter. The bridge humbucker gave me much of the mids and highs with the crunchy bite of the aforementioned guitars while the neck pickup gave me the smooth, warm sustain of the Les Paul. The tonal capabilites range from strat (from the coil tapping) to warm jazz and blues, classic rock, to metal. I was very suprised at the varations in tone this guitar can produce while staying in this price range. The pick-ups are great for a stock guitar of this price. All around, I rate the sound quality at 9. With some custom-added humbuckers, this guitar would get a 10. The sustain is endless on this guitar. I love it. The sound beat out all of the other guitars I mentioned. Not that it necessarily sounds better, but I can get close to each of the 3 guitars with this one guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar was set up perfect for an assembly line product. Parts are made in Korea while the guitar is assembled and undergoes quality control in the U.S. I would suggest looking at Schecters website for the video of how the diamond series guitars are assembled in the U.S. There were absolutely no flaws in the finish, the frets were smooth, the neck was fast as the action was close, much more comforatable than even the 60's style neck on the les paul and the wide-thin neck of PRS (is somewhere between the Gibson Fast 60's neck and a low-radius fender), the bridge was securely mounted correctly, the tuners are great and do not go out of tune even with heavy bending, and the finish on the guitar is beautiful.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Will withstand live playing from anyone who takes care of their guitars as they should. Most guitars that are worth anything will withstand live playing. The hardware is very solid and are not budget materials. The finish is very solid and is evenly applied with no flaws. The strap buttons are great and well placed. I feel that this guitar is solid. I would use it with a back-up only for alternate tunings. This guitar is built as well as any PRS or Gibson.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them. However, their website is great with plenty of FAQ and information on the company.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing the guitar consistently for 12 years and love playing every minute I can. I own a 97 Fender USA Lonestar Stratocaster, a 1977 Gretsch SuperAxe, a 2006 Taylor 414ce acoustic, and an old 70's model Fender concert-series acoustic. As mentioned before, I play through a Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Head (EL-34 tubes) with matching 4x12 cabinet. Effects are Yamaha MagicStomp for delay and reverb and a Morley Steve Vai Bad Horsie wah pedal. Bad Horsie is ran into the front of the head with the MagicStomp in the effects loop. I asked the dealer tons of questions about this guitar and he was very informative and knew a lot about the Schecter company as well as other manufacturers. If it were stolen I would feel very disheartened as I have fell in love with this guitar. I would buy another C-1 plus as it is the exact guitar I was searching for. Like I said before, I was looking at the more expensive range of guitars as far as cost and found this guitar at 1/3 of the cost without compromising tone, playability, cosmetic appeal, and construction quality. This is absolutely one of the best guitars I have ever played without going custom shop. The only guitar that I can think of that might be more comfortable to play is the Fender Eric Johnson sig strat, but it is 1899 and you are limited to clean or slightly dirty jazzy/blues type music. If your are looking at buying a solid body mahogany guitar that is very versatile this should be up on your list of plays. If I were to compare this to any guitars I have played, it would be the PRS custom 24. However, I like this guitar much better. Schecter builds a great quality guitar for an outstanding price. If your in the marked for a new guitar, give this one a go

I own a used, 2004 Vintage Sunburst model that was made in Korea. It has 24 frets, two volume knobs, and one master tone control. The pickups are the stock dual humbucker Duncan-Designed passive pickups, and it's a string-thru body.

It sports a beautiful flamed maple top (which is what drew me to this guitar at the store in the first place) and a mahogany body. The tuners are not locking, but they feel stable and don't slip at all. Every part of this guitar is layered in a lovely gloss finish.

This particular model doesn't have a Floyd Rose, or a tremolo system at all, but I can't hold that against it because there are FR choices available by Schecter.

The fret markers are very nice looking and are more typical of expensive guitars.

Sound : 9
For the price, this guitar sounds really good stock. The clean tones are surprising clear and bell-like, and once distortion kicks in, the versatility really shines. It can literally pull off anything from blues, rock, to metal. Nothing is noisy at all, whether I'm playing it through my Blues Junior with Boss pedals or with my headphones on through my Line 6 pocket POD.

That being said, I will most likely change the tone pot and the stock pickups out. They're fine for the price (impressive, really), but I still want a little more of a rich, stronger sound. I'll probably end up with real Seymour Duncans in there, which might make this guitar pretty much a perfect 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I can't say how it was set up at the factory because I bought it used. The action is low and even, and I haven't detected any trace of fret buzz. As far as I can tell, I can't spot any flaws on this guitar. Honestly.

Everything looks silky smooth, and it plays the same way. It is a joy to play solo lines or fast riffs on this thing because it just feels good in your hands. I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Studio, and it just never felt like "home." This one does.

If you take one look at this guitar and feel it in person, you will not believe the price. I feel like anyone who buys this guitar is ripping off Schecter!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Rock solid construction, everything is straight and stable. The guitar is a 2004 model and I don't see a single nick or scratch on it, minus some surface swirls in the light. Everything about this guitar feels like a much more expensive PRS (and it is definitely better quality than the PRS SE line, which I used to own). Bends feel really smooth on this thing, and I haven't broken a string yet (knock on wood). Probably doesn't need a backup, but you never know with strings, so...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them, and probably won't because I bought it used.

Overall Rating : 10
While Schecter may be known for metal, this guitar is most similar to a PRS guitar. I'd say the quality is somewhere between the SE line and the real, ridiculously expensive models. It is probably the most versatile guitar I have ever tried, and I am still in shock about the price.

Quality all around. It almost seems like they didn't cut any corners at all, which makes me wonder how they can sell it for less than $600. If it were stolen or lost, I would definitely buy it again, or possibly pay a little extra for the C-1 Classic (since it already comes with SD pickups and some fancier fretboard inlays...which may or may not be a good thing).

I was originally going for a metal guitar, and tried out various Ibanez and Jackson models in this price range. Nothing compared, not even close. If you're going for pure metal, I'd recommend a Hellraiser since it comes with active EMGs already, but if you're like me and want to play a lot of different styles, this is the PERFECT guitar.

Schecter C-1 Plus. Made in Korea, set up in the USA. Antique Sunburst finish looks like a tobacco burst with flame top (beautiful). Great neck, slim, with virtually no neck heel (easy access to upper frets). 24 Jumbo frets. 3-way toggle pick-ups, vol/vol/tone (push-pull coil tap). Duncan designed HB-102 Humbuckers. Tone pros bridge. Neck and Body are Mahogany, Flame Maple top (or veneer not sure, but it is lovely), rosewood fret board. I'm giving it a 10, because it blows away anything in its price category and even the $1,000.00 category.

Sound : 10
I always assumed (yes I know) that Scheters were metal guitars. Well this one handles that plus great clean neck pickup sounds (think Jazz or blues) and great classic Rock and heavier sounds. I'm so in love with the clean sound that I find myself gravitating to that when I'm playing just for fun (blissful moments).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was hanging on the wall at a Guitar Center, so I'm not sure if they did any tweaking to the setup (doubtful in my experience with them), but this thing was set up perfectly. Low action, no buzz anywhere, proper pickup height. I've had American Strats, PRS Custom 22 and 24 and I wish they had bet set up so well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm 42, wife, kid, mortgage etc, so I play weekly at my church in a modern, rock worship setting. I've had it for a few weeks now, but don't anticipate any problems. I've read reviews that said the tone and volume pots were cheap, so I expected such. I was really surprised at how solid and smooth the pots feel. I don't anticipate any problems. The strap buttons were large and probably adequate, but I always replace them with strap locks (Peavys this time). I gig without a back-up (because I had to sell all my other guitars at one point/ foreign adoption cost big bucks). I also love the fact that this thing was set-up with 10's. Save me changing them out and resetting.

I've been playing for about 12 years. I also own a Spector Euro 5 string bass. I play through a Line 6 POD XT Live into a powered PA cabinet (JBL EON G-2 10 325 watts) which I use for practice and monitoring on stage. I run straight to the board for the house sound. I have owned numerous pedals, Fender amps and even a MESA Lonestar. This rig gives me the best sound and options I have ever had. It is light weight too. Having sold a ton of gear and being cash starved (again, foreign adoption), I thought it would take forever for me to get another guitar as I was thinking I'd need at least 1,500.00. I was looking at maybe a PRS Mira or an SG. I went to GC looking for an SG faded (around 500.00) but hated it. It was so rough and I didn't like the neck at all. Then I picked up the C-1 Plus. I couldn't believe how great it sounded, looked and felt. I wish I had another one, just in case this one is stolen or lost somehow.

2006 model. Nice sunburst flamed finish. Not perfect, but hey, this only cost me $400 used. The pickups are weak/noisy. Replaced them with DiMarzios (Mo Joe on the bridge and PAF Joe on the neck, DAMN!!!! The mahogany body with set neck is a great combination. Sustains very nicely. The body is a bit thin so it's not "beefy" like a Les Paul, but very good tone nonetheless. The volume controls are fine but the tone control was horrible. It's a 350K pot. Replaced with a CTS500K last week, what a difference that made. Probably the best $5 mod I ever made. $200+ for the mods and this baby sounds as good as my PRS, no BS. It actually sustains BETTER!
The neck is thin and fast. Came perfectly set up with low action and no buzzing. Easy to get to all 24 frets.

Sound : 9
I play classic rock and blues. With the pickup and tone control mods this is the perfect guitar. Use a CeriaTone amp, Ibanez TS-7 and CryBaby 535Q. The sound is a little brighter than a Les Paul, about like an SG or PRS.

It is light (almost too light) but fits the body nicely and is very comfortable to play night after night.

With the mods I give it a 9 for sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I can play the 6 set gigs in the casinos and my hands don't get tired because the action is low and the neck thin. Set up perfectly at the factory, unlike the horrible job Fender and Gibson do on their. The intonation on my Strat and Les Paul were horrible when I bought them, the Schecter is 100% perfect. Digital tuners don't lie.

The frets were a tad rough, but gave them a light going over with steel wool and they are wonderful.

Stays in great tune. Only fine tune a couple of times a night.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I use this for multiple sets a night, 6 nights a week. I use this for 3-4 sets and the PRS for 2-3 sets. The finish looks very nice and I think it'll last a good while. The strap buttons are oversized (like on the PRS's) and I love that! I totally depend on this guitar. It is my mainstay or backup, always. I'd never use any guitar at a gig w/o a backup guitar. Same as I never go to a gig without extra tubes for my amps.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed support.

To the guys that say this guitar is "crap", they are primmadonnas and don't know what they are talking about. Hell, they probably posted without having ever touched one! I've been playing for over 30 years. I own a Std. Am. Strat, a Les Paul, a Rick 360/12, an ES335, a PRS Santana II, an SG, a Tele, an Ibanez double neck 6/12, an L6 and this Schecter C1+. I play the Schecter and the PRS almost exclusively now. Sure, off the shelf the C1+ needs pickups and a tone control, but for about $200 in mods you have a guitar that sounds better than ones costing 2-3 times as much. Plus it comes perfectly set up for playing, out of the box. This isn't my first Schecter either, I had a C1 Elite and a Blackjack also (sold 'em recently to buy a new amp - CeriaTone). I missed them so I bought the C1+.

I play through a CeriaTone Overtone (this is a real AMP!), an Ibanez TS-7, a CryBaby 535Q with a Mesa Boogie 2x12 cabinet.

Thoroughly recommend this guitar even if you CAN afford a PRS. This is a great backup and or complement as a main axe.

fantastic finish. Coil tap is a bonus, fun feature. Nice fixed bridge, although at times the guitar can be fussy about holding a tune.

bought the guitar used with a JB installed in the bridge. Really is a fun guitar to play. I find sometimes I have to make myself put it down. Very versitile. I am a firm believer in "looking for a sound, buy the product" as in metal=metal guitar, and so on for whatever it is you're looking for. However, this guitar covers a very broad range, and does it very well. Does strat to les paul and all in between if you spend some time with it and your amp. All in all hangs with the big boys (gibson, PRS, fender, etc.) at a fair price. If you want bang for your buck, look here. Easily compars to guitars nearly twice it's price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
was set up with 9's with previous owner. I had a local shop string up some light top/heavy bottm's. Neck is comfortable, plays relatively quick. Love the flame top look, as do others. I think schecter did a fine job with the finish, very genuine.

Reliability/Durability : 8
no problems with it, play it about every day, no out of the ordinary. Tuning can be fussy so it gets an 8 here. I'm just being picky.

self taught hobby player for almost 15 years (I'm 25). Have had this guitar for about 4 months. Really is my first "quality" guitar purchase. Read such good reviews and found one at a good price, I'd thought I would try it. Can't complain. I feel it's a very good value and would recommend it, especially to intermediate and advancing players. I give it a 9 because 10 should be unachieveable. Sure it doesn't have a big name on the headstock, but it didn't have a big price tag. Really a cool guitar, buy one slightly used, and get an even better deal. You won't go wrong.

This is a beautiful guitar, looks and sound. The neck is really thin and sounds amazing especially if you put a JB in the bridge. The Grover tuners are a great addition, they keep the guitar in tune. I record with this guitar and it holds up well. The Coil tap is cool, I only use it for jazz though.

Sound : 9
I listen to every type of music, I love anything from the Velvet Underground to Megadeth to Dr. Dre to John Coltrane, thats why I DEMAND versatility, and this guitar does a great job at that. The Duncan Designed pickups are a bit weak, but I put a JB in the bridge and I love it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Well, I can't say much about the action from the factory because I bought it used. The Action was really high when I bought it. This guitar has a really nice, thin neck and great fret access. I like the 24 frets because as I mentioned before, I like a lot of music, and the heavy metal sweeps up in the 24 area. The Action is low now, and I love it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've played a couple times with this guitar. On one show, the input jack almost completely fell out right before I was playing an important jazz show, but Im not sure if that was the guitar's fault. Otherwise, I would trust it like a brother.

I have owned the guitar for 4 Months and have found that the Duncan Designed pickups in the guitar are versatile and tone-full and can go from a moderately heavy overdrive and a warm clean with the coil tap on. I am playing through an Orange Rockerverb 50. I will probably change them out for real Duncans at some point.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action on the guitar was very high and i will be getting it lowered as soon as soon as i can. I found that after a few months the bridge pickup cavity rattled whenever i played chords. The finish has so far been great and looks outstanding. There were some initial fret flaws in the guitar but they are barely noticeable when playing.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I haven't played live with it but i feel confident that it would withstand a fair beating. The hardware has been OK, but it goes out of tune fairly easily. I replaced the strap buttons with Strap Locks, (as i do on every guitar). The finish has lasted so far and even fairly deep scratches don't show up until seen up very close.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I have been playing for four years and have owned a SG Special and now a Standard and wanted to look for something a little different. This Schecter is a great guitar for the money and it is clearly higher quality than most competitors in the price range. If it were stolen i would consider a more expensive guitar that came with better stock pups.
The coil tap is a great feature for a cheapish guitar to have and the finish has so far been great. I recommend anyone looking for a good-quality guitar to check this out.

Only with I didn't let the Gibson go 30 years ago, would have beed worth some good $$$$ by now. I did alot of shopping around before I purchased this Axe. Looked at and tried a whole bunch of other Axes, and for the money this one was the best I found.

The stock Duncan Designed HB-102 (JB/Jazz) pickups sound NOTHING like the real thing. I compared this guitar to a C-1 Classic that has the real pickups while playing through a PODxt. The HB-102's are VERY dark. I found that I don't like the Jazz neck pickup at all. Way too bassy to be useful. I'm going to replace these with genuine Duncans. Probably with a Duncan Distortion (SH-6) in the bridge and a '59 (SH-1) in the neck.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was perfect. The neck is awesome. Inlays on the fretboard were perfect. What really makes this guitar shine is the finish. It drew me in from across the showroom. Beautiful in Black Cherry. Only minor flaw is that the bookmatching is off by about 1/4". Another reviewer mentioned this also. The nut was catching one of the strings a bit, but nothing some filing wouldn't help.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Seems very durable. Nice weight and the finish should last. Solid strap buttons, but I'll replace them with StrapLoks. Would never gig without a backup.

Customer Support : 8
I've emailed them questions about their products and the sales team responds quickly.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing 20 years. I own a '86 Ibanez RG-440 and play through a PODxt. This guitar is meant to be the complement to my Ibanez in the studio. I've been looking for a mahogany body H/H guitar for a while now and settled on Schecter after trying the Ibanez offerings.

I'll buy this guitar and replace the pickups. The Duncan Designed JB/Jazz just don't cut it for me. To be fair, in my search I've found that I don't like the Jazz neck pickup to start with. The '59 is more my taste in that department. Also tried the Duncan Distortion SH-6 and found that to be superior to the JB in the bridge, at least for 70's and 80's rock/metal.

I compared this guitar to the Ibanez SZ series and to the Schecter C-1 Classic. Better value for the money than the C-1 Classic, and with the pickups traded out it will be the perfect axe for the same money.

Features have been detailed in other reviews...
Most parts seem to be pretty nice, except maybe the pickups.
Light and very playable. It has 24 frets, which some people like and some don't, but I like it for certain applications, although I often prefer to have fewer since the extra frets make pinch harmonics slightly more difficult. It's a matter of taste and style of music, really.

Sound : 7
My amp is a Peavey Classic 50 212 combo, and my pedals right now are a Fulltone Clyde wah and an Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-9, with a Line 6 DL-4 in the effects loop.
I play several different styles... I have played with a high school hard rock/metal cover band (a lot of 80s metallica) with this guitar, and it's great for that, but it also is well suited to other styles as well. I play blues, jazz (kind of), and various rock styles, and this guitar works well enough for all of them. I would not consider it to be just a metal guitar, and I am not particularly interested in metal myself. The sound is good, not great, in my opinion. The stock pickups seem somewhat lifeless to me, and I intend at some point
For the clean sound (through my classic 50), I would probably rate this guitar a 9. I get a great clean sound with it through the C50. It also sounds quite good on high gain, for fast leads and heavy rhythm guitar parts, probably a deserving 7 or 8. Its in the area in between that this guitar is somewhat weak. For lower gain distorted or overdriven tones, I would probably give this guitar a 5, maybe a 6.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is where this guitar shines. This is among the most playable electrics I have ever used, at any price. It is an excellent guitar for fast lead playing, in my opinion. It has a very fast neck and feels very comfortable in my hands. I feel that I can play faster, cleaner, and more precise leads on the Schecter than on other guitars. I have not seen any flaws, and the sunburst finish is very nice. Everything seems to be very well set up. The action and set up were good when I bought it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar seems to be very durable and reliable. I have played with it live (with no backup guitar) with no problems. I have had it for over two years now, and the only problem I had was that the potentiometers became dirty (replaced under warranty). The finish seems like it will last. It has a few dings in it after two years, but it still looks good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never dealt with the company, but I believe the guitar has a lifetime warranty, and when I had the pots replaced, it was done under warranty.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for about 3 and a half years (more like 1.5-2 when I bought this guitar). If this guitar was stolen or lost, I would buy a new one because for the price I paid ($500), or even for much more, it is a great playing and good sounding guitar (hopefully after I change the pups it will be great sounding, too). For this kind of electric guitar, I haven't played anything better.

Same features as everyone else's:
Made in Korea, set up in the U.S.
24 frets
Mahogany body, a maple LAMINATED top that's probably no thicker than a dime, but does look great
Two Duncan "poorly" designed humbuckers
Tonepros bridge, string through body
Two volumes, one tone control.

Sound : 8
I play mostly metal. I basically keep a pretty simple set up. I run through a Peavey 5150 head and two Marshall 1960 cabs. My only effects are a Dimebag Crybaby from Hell, a Robert Keeley TS-9, a Boss super chours and a Boss NS-2 noise supressor. Everything is connected with Monster 500 cable and 1000 speaker cable.

The stock pickups on this guitar are horrible. The lows are muddy and the highs are just too harsh and pretty nasty sounding. The internal wiring was also poorly done on my model. After about three weeks the volume knob for the neck pickup stopped working. Nevertheless, I knew when I bought this guitar that I'd be replacing the pickups with EMG's anyway (should have waited for the Hellraiser). My other guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Custom with the Zakk Wylde EMG setup and I really like the sound I get out of it Especially with the 5150.
$200 later the EMG's definately help the guitar to sound better but it still doesn't quite cut it for me. By itself the guitar sounds pretty damn good. But I've had a hard time trying to dial in a good sound on my amp that works in the context of the whole band. When I use this guitar in practice I just get lost in the mix. The guitar just doesn't have the bite that I need in a live setting. I think this is due to the poorly constructed top on the guitar. It's not a true maple top so the guitar is essentially a slab of mohagany. This gives the guitar an exceptionally dark tone. With a thicker maple top one could expect a brighter, more defined tone but it's obvious that schecter was more concerned about offering an affordable guitar that was cosmetically pleasing. There's nothing wrong with that but it just wasn't the right choice for me. It may work well for players using Marshalls or brighter sounding amps. The 5150 is dark enough on it's own.
Now, this guitar doesn't sound bad by any means. By itself the tone is very rich and thick and you can get some very nice Santana sounding leads out of it. The neck position is very creamy sounding. It would work very well in a setting where there was only one guitar player. The clean tones are great too. Like I said. This is not a bad sounding guitar for the money. If you're just starting out or you want a great practice guitar this will work well for you. If your looking to do metal in a two guitarist band this may not be the guitar for you. I'm currently trying to sell this one and buy an ESP/LTD EC1000. Owning this guitar has helped me discover that I'm much more of a Les Paul kind of guy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar came set up rather well. I had it set up to accomodate heavier string gauges (12-56). There was a buzzing on the first and second fret of the high E string but tweaking the action a bit helped with that.
The finish is nice but far from perfect. Anyone performing a basic insepction of my guitar would notice small flaws where some of the paint got onto the binding and other areas where the frets weren't dressed as well as they should have been but for a guitar in this price range I'd say they did a pretty good job. If I would have paid $1200 I'd be f*ckin' pissed.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm sure this guitar would withstand live playing but I'd never know because this will always be a backup. I'm not happy enough with the sound of this guitar to ever use it as a main live guitar. However, in the studio I'm sure it will be quite useful. The stock hardware is crap. You could probably really take a crap inside this guitar and get a better sound than the stock electronics. Save you're money and buy one with real duncans or get the Hellraiser if you play metal and are set on owning a schecter.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for about 16 years and have never made a whole bunch of money. Almost everything I have is used so I was really stoked about owning this Schecter as my first really "new" guitar. It sounded great in the store and great at home but like I said before in the context of a band it just gets lost. There are other models that Schecter offers that may be better than this one but over all I think the C1+ is a poor sounding guitar (for metal) that looks great. There's a reason most of the professionals in metal are using the ESP/LTD models. They f*cking sound better! I'm shooting myself in the dick for spending my money on this one. If you want to buy one that's already loaded with EMG's just contact me. We'll work something out.

Made in 2001, Korea built. 24 Fret guitar, I believe it's a solid flame maple top. 2 volume, one tone located conveniently for volume swells. H/H configuration, swapped out the awful Duncan Designed pickups for Gibson Custom Wired Burstbuckers. Mahogany Body with Maple top. Bridge came with a cheap tone-pros knockoff, replaced with the real deal. Tuners are grover. All round good features, string thru body gives great sustain.

Sound : 8
This guitar has a huge sound....warm and full and biting all at the same time. I am currently running this amp through a 5150 Signature head and a DSL 100 through 1960B Cabs, no effects. Effects are for the smart people. How can you people do all that damn switching. Guitar is noisy only because the pickups I placed in it are seriously wired very hot...guitar is limited to humbucking sound, sounds like a Les Paul, just not as heavy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Guitar was set up well, pickups adjusted ok when I got it, guitar had not visible flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 5
This is where the guitar gets a lower rating....I have been playing steady shows for over a year now and the first problem I had was that strings were breaking. After much berating from my band mates stating I play too hard etc etc I replaced the bridge with a Tone Pros. Best decision for this guitar. Have had 10 rehearsals, played the hell out of this thing and no string breakage. Hardware sucks!! period! The stock electronics and hardware is crap. I had this guitar re wired and new pots put in, only thing I didn't replace were the tuners. Never goes out of tune. I can literally restring this bastard and in 30 secs have it completely in tune. amazing. I replaced strap buttons with Dimarzio strap locks, once again the originals didn't hold up. I wouldn't gig without a backup because I beat the hell out of any guitar I play. This one's lucky to be alive.....poor 12 gauge strings.

Customer Support : 10
Schecter's customer support is great!!! I cannot rave enough. I just sent them an email sttg I lost the string ferrels (I think that's what they are..) the little doohickeys where the strings go, they sent me 12 new ones in the mail. Awesome!!!!

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing 3 years, my opinion of amp tone is terrible but I do know a good guitar when I play it. This guitar blows the Gibson Studios and SG specials out of the water as far as sound goes if you're willing to drop a couple hundred in it, if it were stolen I would castrate the poor moron who took it because I literally have blood caked around the pickup housing. Then I would get over it and then buy a flying V....or maybe a C-1 Stealth

This guitar is a flamed maple top and a marvelously resonant mahogany body and neck. The set neck that I have is first generation, before Schecter started making the Ultra-Access neck joint, but this is not nor has it ever has been a problem. The extra jumbo frets and sweet vector inlays make for an easily playable and altogether tasty fretboard. It comes equipped with two Duncan Designed humbuckers in it, which I have discovered are 95% identical to an average JB (in the bridge position) and a '59 (which is the neck pickup....duh...). This also came with a tonepros tune o matic bridge, and for your information, one of the saddles took a crap on me, but to be fair, that was after about 3 years of heavy playing. The neck is laquered, which takes some getting used to, but once you get past the sticky feeling on your thumb, you can't imagine it any other way.

Sound : 10
I couldn't believe at first how good this guitar sounded. When I first got it, I loved how fat it sounded through even the crappiest of amps, and after a couple of years of learning about guitar gear, I also figured out that the Duncan Designed humbuckers are great sounding, and I daresay that the non-JB that comes equipped in the bridge position sounds better than the actual JB. But that's my opinion. The guitar has great sustain, and I even used it for jazz gigs for a year, which it handled like a champion (through the right amp). The quality cannot be beaten for the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on this guitar was entirely too high when I got it, but I promply lowered it, and it plays like a dream. The neck joint was a little bit of an issue for me when they came out with the Ultra Access joint, but that's only because I was being covetous. The joint is fine. There were no apparent flaws from the beginning, and though I've had to do a bit of maintenance on it, it's mostly because I've had it for upwards of three years. ANd that's to be expected

The most reliable guitar of the new millenium. I could throw this thing off a cliff, climb down, pick it up, and play a show with it. The bridge crapped out after a couple of years, and my neck position volume knob has grown loose, but it took a good long while for all that to happen.

This guitar hase some pretty sweet features. 2 volumes( 1 for each pick up) and a tone and a 3 way pick up switch.

Sound : 10
I play metal and this is really a rock/blues guitar, but the pickups are very nice and the mahogany body gives it a nice tone.I really like the sound and this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I think some people are on crack when they rated this guitar, becaue it is an extremely well built guitar. I mean its mohogany and the neck is set in the guitar. It has a very nice flamed maple top and sick chrome hardwear. definitly one of the best guitars on the market.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'v had it for a whil and i have not needed any repairs or any thing. I have no buzz and it stayed in tune quite nicely.

Features : 9
The features of this guitar met my particular needs. Solid body, double cutaway. I especially like the individual volume controls for each pickup. As for pickups, my intention when I purchased this guitar was to change to the pickups with genuine Seymour Duncans. I installed a SH-2 Jazz at the neck and SH-4 JB at the bridge. This really upgraded the quality of sound. I wanted this particular Schecter because of it's 24.75 inch scale. The Tone Pros and Grovers also give this guitar a nice touch of quality too. Beautiful sunburst finish and great setup from the factory. I've always played guitars with thinner frets, so the jumbo frets have taken some time to get used to, but they play great. Case not included

Sound : 10
I play mostly blues style rock style. My other guitars include a newer American Stratocaster with Vintage Noiseless pickups and a 1968 Gibson ES335. The Schecter is a great modern guitar that hold its own against either of these other guitars. Strong sound and sustain for both rock and blues. I play it 50/50 along with my Strat. Both are two very different instruments, and each fulfills a particular playing need. If you need a guitar based on humbuckers, you won't go wrong with the Schecter.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Great factory setup. Very little needed to be done with I received it. The finish is beautiful and nearly flawless--an incredible feat for a guitar in this (or any) price range. Electronics work very well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very reliable guitar and very well made. I could easily use this guitar without a backup at a gig.

Customer Support : 10
I contacted the company only once via email, and they responded promptly and enthusiastically.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall a great guitar for many players. Because of its price, you can afford to customize the pickups without much extra cost. My only concern when purchasing this guitar is that Schecter does not include a case with the purchase. Perhaps I'm a bit old school in this, but I think instrument makers should provide a good case (no bags please) with their guitars. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the purchase. I bought this guitar one year ago, therefore, I feel I've had it long enough to have a fair opinion.

Same as everyone else. 24 frets, 24.75" scale, Grover tuners, etc.

Only comment is that while the action is easy as cake to adjust (you don't even need a screwdriver if you're lowering it, or if you loosen the strings to raise it), but intonation was a pain. You have to loosen the string all the way, flop it over, adjust a nearly un-reachable little screw, tune up again, and then re-check. Took me more than 5 minutes per string when I did it before our last show.

Sound : 8
I play mostly death/heavy metal, but also a lot of blues/blues-rock/classic rock type stuff.

My biggest beef about this guitar would be the pickups. At high-gain settings, they show that they're a little weak, and they don't have the bite needed for AC/DC-style crunch. Trying to add more high mids/treble just turns to fuzz instead of bite. Other than that, the sound is great - the cleans would also benefit from better pickups, but if you like slightly "dim" (warm, if you want to put it that way, although they aren't bass-heavy) cleans, you'll love this guitar. I would have put better pickups in a long time ago, except the stock ones aren't so bad that I'm willing to dive into anything without doing the research. Overall this guitar has a warm sound that can get muddy if you aren't careful, but that will almost definitely be fixed when I put in better pickups. Great humbucker cleans (I freaking love the mixed pickup position, and the bridge cleans are surprisingly useable), great bridge distortion that you can control quite well with the tone knob.

Overall, 8, but I suspect it could go up to 9.5 with better pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
-It was pretty well set-up at the factory, but the action was a little high for my liking. I lowered it to the point where they're barely above the fretboard, and yet when I tuned to D-standard at band practise there was absolutely no fret buzz. I also later switched the .009's to .010's, and it didn't need a new set-up.
-Finish was bloody beautiful.
-Small black scuff mark at the 3rd fret on the cream outline of the neck, and another red one on the same cream part right in front of the neck pickup, but I think that was the guitar store's fault. Both marks have partially rubbed off over time.
-One thing I didn't like was that there was some sawdust in the pots/jack compartment. Shows a bit of laziness on the part of Schecter. It only takes 5 seconds to take a blow dryer or something to quickly clean it off.
-The finish is freaking beautiful, but there are some small flaws in it at the seams (for example, there's a slight dimple where the cream binding meets the set neck). It's all stuff you have to pore over the guitar with a fine-toothed comb for to notice, but I guess that's the difference between this guitar and a 5000$ Gibson.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Most of this guitar is very well-built. I've only ever bashed it once, and I'm shocked at how little damage the pointy piece of metal did to the top surface of the guitar (there's a scratch, but you can only see it from certain angles and under certain lighting). The neck is solid, and you can't bend notes just by shaking the headstock the way you can on some cheap guitars.

I partially stripped the neck strap peg putting straplocks in. While that was obviously partially my fault, I still didn't overdo it on the tightening. Makes me wonder if the wood was a little soft there. Anyway, no biggie, I stuffed the hole with a matchstick and haven't had any problems since. When I take it to the shop for problem number 2 I'll have them do something more permanent.

The other thing that pissed me off is the input jack. I've had the guitar less than a year, and I usually just leave the same cable plugged into it (I unplugged it twice a week up until now - to go to band practise, and to come home from band practise). Still, it got fried. I opened up the compartment at the back, and lo and behold - there was a scrawny little metal wire floating loose. Pretty cheap welding, if you ask me. I'll have to have that redone, which is too bad. How much could it possibly cost Schecter to splurge on a little more soldering metal?

There was also a small problem with the bridge volume knob that seems to have gone away. It was pretty minor, and only lasted a week or so, so I'm wondering if it was just a rust-related thing that got rubbed off. Still, I've gigged with it twice, and it hasn't failed me yet. Once I get the strap peg and input jack fixed, it should be a rock.

Customer Support : 6
I've dealt with them twice, and the contrast in treatment was sickening. The first time - before I bought it - I got a quick response that did a decent job of answering my questions (about the difference between Duncan Designed and real Duncan pickups, and another one about the bridge). Then a day later, the supervisor of the woman who had answered me sent me another e-mail that went much further into detail, and the guy made some specific recommendations that gave me a real sense that he had taken the time to personally answer a few questions because the person before him had only done a mediocre job.

So I figured, great, right? I liked the guitar, the guy had answered my questions honestly ("Duncan Designed pickups aren't the real thing, but are adequate enough to suit your needs until you really need that extra juice - most amateurs don't see the need to make the switch, but a lot of semi-pros and pros do"), etc. Then I brought the little baby home, and the bridge looked funny. I thought that the intonation screws were on backwards, because they seemed too awkward to have been designed that way - 2 e-mails, 3 days apart, and not a single answer from either the guy or the original woman. As it turns out, the bridge really was designed that way, and even if it hadn't it would have taken 15 seconds for one of them to tell me to loosen the strings, lift the bridge off (the metal piece that actually supports the strings is kept in place by tension, and actually isn't attached in any way to the guitar - if you hold it upside down with no strings on, it will fall off), flip it, and then re-tighten the strings. This attitude pissed me off, because customer support is about making people happy after the purchase, not before it.

Overall Rating : 8
This is the best guitar in its price range for my needs. Period. The other one I was looking at was a 400-level ESP LTD Viper, but I didn't like the cleans as much (the EMGs would have roared for metal, mind you). If you only play metal, you'll either need to sub the pickups or go for a more metal-oriented guitar, but both times I've played this guitar onstage (with my death metal band), it's gotten compliments about tone and style. It has great chunk, it's great for rhythm playing (leaves a lot to be desired in terms of upper-fret access if you compare it to shred guitars like Ibanez RG's), it has nice feel and balance, stays in tune for weeks and has beautiful inlays/finish. The only major flaw is the stock pickups, but let's face it - for another hundred bucks or so, this guitar would rival the big guys that cost 3 times as much. If it was stolen I'd either get another one or go for the Classic, which already comes with real Duncans. I would have done that originally if I had any way of magically making another 200$ appear in my pocket. This is the best guitar under 1500$ CDN that I've ever tried, and it only cost half that.

The best guitar in it's price range. Use it through an all tube 60 watt Peavey Ultra, which drives it nicely. It's a warm sounding guitar due to it's mahogany body but also the pickups play a role in the sound too. Guitar can do rock to metal, some blues. The pickups make the guitar sound muddy especially in the neck position. The bridge is a good "rocker". It can struggle in downtowning because it can get muddy. They're stock pickups and just like all stock pickups there not the best quality because they're copies of the good pickups. The Duncan Designed in this guitar are copies of the JB/Jazz combo. Don't get me wrong this guitar sounds decent but not something a professional would leave stock that's all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I got the guitar used and got it setup when i got it. I heard that schecter sets up the guitars in the states so i'm sure its good when it comes. The guitar looks beautiful. I have the charcoal finish which is discontinued. The inlays are sweet and the maple cap looks sweet. My only gripe is that the saddles on the bridge where crappy. I always had a problem with my D string breaking and I'm not a hard strummer. I got a setup done wanting to correct the problem but it didn't help. I then took it back and found out that the saddles in the schecter start to burr and make a jagged surface, which in turn causes friction with the string, thus making it break. I got a small file and it smoothed the burr, however it happened again and then i replaced the saddles with Graphtech ones. They rock. Anyway the tech said that Schecters have a rep for crappy saddles. In conclusion, the guitar is beatiful but if your strings start breaking like a mother, the replace them with Graphtech.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It a very solid guitar that I gig with regularly. I never gig without a backup.

I been playing for over 5 years and I researched all the guitars in the Schecter's price range. This one, hands down, is the best for the money. If your super picky about sound, swap out the pickups for real Seymours and if your bridge gives you trouble put in some Graphtech saddles. Besides that a sweet looking guitar, with great features for a not so bank-killing price.

i play metal and jazz... for jazz.. i think this is a great guitar. It seems to have a nice, rich, full sound after i play around with the settings on my amp for a while. in fact im very impressed with the clean sound. now for playing metal... with a lot of distortion, this thing feeds back like crazy! even with a gate!.. i am not really impressed with the duncan designed pickups when it comes to distortion. the neck also seems rather slow to be doing solo's on.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
i think this guitar was tossed around a bit too much at the factory. the most annoying thing about the guitar is the the strings buzz like crazy!.. ive even taken it to the guitar store and they cant fix it!.. it dRIVES ME INSSSAANNNEEE!!!
BUT! the looks of the finish and the pearl inlay are absolutely stunning. looks like a prs somewhat

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
ive played it live a few times... it didnt break in half or anything like that... strap button are loose and my strap always falls off(this is the cause of my dings on my guitar) Be WARY!
the only reason i would use a back up is if a string broke.. I HATE THAT

Black Cherry finish 24 frets with 2 humbuckers, solid mahogany body and set thru neck, tune-o-matic bridge, Korean made pile of crap! I bought it brand new from Musicians Friend this year in 05 and sent it back after a month.

Sound : 2
I played the Schecter thru my Line 6 pod XT live into my Fender twin reverb and the pickups in this thing don't sound terrible on a clean setup but they create a lot of feedback on higer gain amp settings

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
the action setup sucked from the factory but i adjusted it and put different strings on it but it still played like crap. the finish is the only decent thing about this guitar but only at a distance because as you get close up to it you can definately see the flaws. this thing just feels like a piece of junk as your holding it. It does NOT stay in tune which is suprising considering it is a string thru design.

Reliability/Durability : 2
I would never use this guitar live, I had it for about a month and really wanted to like this guitar, but it is such a marvelous pile of something that comes out of the north end of a south bound dog, that i had to send it back to M.F.

I purchased the guitar (2003 model) in second hand. It came moded with Duncan designed pickups (the same as usual).
It got 3 way switching with seperate tone controls for each pickup, mahogany body with a flamed maple top, set neck, rosewood fingerboard, Tune-O-Matic Bridge with string thru body. Intonation was not so good in the beginning but after some fixes and a several houers of plying the guitar became more reliable.
The original Duncan-disigned pickups sounded a little bit to weak so I replacded them with real "Lundgren Pickups" (www.lundgren.se).

Sound : 9
I play a lot of diferent music (pop, rock, clasics, metal etc.).
After I switched out the stock pickups for some real special ordered Lundgren Pickups, the guitar just came to life.
Now I can get a great sound from all of the positions of the pick-shifter.
With the stock pickups the sound rating would be 4/10...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
After some adjustments the guitar is super (compared to cheaper models of Gibson and PRS)...

I've been playing about 16 years and am extremely happy with this guitar especially at this price. It has the fit and finish, quality construction and components found on much more expensive guitars (Gibson/PRS) after the switch to "Lundgren Pickups" (www.lundgren.se).
I usually play Fender's and common guitars and this guitar was the right choice for a new sound and feeling like (Gibson, PRS etc.).

stock in these for what you pay is pritty damn nice. Grover tuners, string thru body, the duncun designed pickups could be better, i replaced the bridge with a seymore duncun detonator the neck pickup does fine for a warm sound in my opinion.

Sound : 9
i love love love the sound of this guitar (with the SD detonator). i play a lot of hardcore type stuff also really into bloodbrothers sound, and this guitar couldn't be more perfect for it. i play through an old 1970's Earth Sound Research 100 watt tubed combo hooked up to a fender 4x12 cab.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
the feel of this guitar is so awsome. the action is so easy to set how you want it. I used to have a Gibson Blues Hawk about $100 more then the C1 and it felt like a toy in comparison. as far as the finish goes atleast in the case of the one i got it looks great, but i aslo have the 2002 model and the finish may be different in newer models.

Reliability/Durability : 8
all upkeep on it ive done myself and i do it often just cuase i like to do it so ive never really had anything go out on it or had to have it worked on. the one worry i have is it has a small crack in the finish where the neck meets the body, but the neck still feels as sturdy as it always has been.

Purchased the guitar from ebay; it came moded with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and the Duncan Design in the neck position. 3 way switching with seperate volume controls for each pickup. Mahogany body with a flamed maple top, set neck, rosewood fingerboard, Tune-O-Matic Bridge with string thru body. Bridge is tonepros; intonation was perfect out of the box, but I'm not sure how old the guitar is or how much it was played.

Sound : 9
I play a blend of Metal, Hardcore and Rock and this guitar sounds great. I'm able to get a nice, solid sound during heavy parts and the guitar really shines on leads. I am playing this guitar through a below average sounding amp (in my opinion), a Crate Blue Voodoo, and an Avatar 412S w/ Vintage 30's. The amp setup has good mids and highs but lacking a little in the low end (which is why I just purchased a Marshall 1960B). I also own a Schecter Omen 6 and my C-1 puts it to shame in every category, and I paid only $75 more for the C-1.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came set up well with a nice, low action. This guitar as close to asthetically perfect as I've seen. The neck plays extremely fast and the guitar feels very comfortable.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I think this guitar will last a long time. The only thing that worries me is how light it is; if I become too violent with it it won't be good. The finish seems rich and still looks great after several practices. The strap buttons are very solid, mostly because I purchased a longer wood screw to ensure my Strap locks would stay locked. I would gig it without a backup if I had to.

Customer Support : 10
The only time I dealt with the company they were friendly and responded very quickly.

I have been playing guitar for 1 year. I know it isn't long but I feel like I have progressed a lot in my knowledge of the instrument in that time. I just wanted to say to the review below about the prs dragon II pickups in the guitar, i had this combo in my guitar. Ever since i put these pickups in, my guitar shines. Tones that you can only dream about by going into guitar center or wherever and playing guitars that are 4 times the cost of this beautiful peace of work. Now im not saying that all the parts are necessarily the best and top quality as the les pauls or prs's, but when you want tone and don't have much money, definitely invest in these babies. I want to say that in due time, these will be wanted more than the prs's. But definitely ditch the duncan design and customise this guitar. There is no limit!

I play mostly modern rock. Here is where it gets interesting. After I bought mine I replaced the Duncan designed pickups with PRS Dragon II's (brand new off e-bay for $150 for the set.) Schaller locking tuners and fender strap locks. I also replaced the volume and tone knobs with Les Paul style speed knobs. and for 1/4 the cost of a PRS custom 22 I have an awsome sounding excellent playing guitar that sounds identical to the Custom 22 our other guitarist USED to play. So since I changed everything I will not rate this catogory other than the stock pickups were muddy and kinda weak.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This Guitar came from American Musical supply set up suprisingly perfect except I put 11's on as soon as I opened the box. The jumbo frets are a dream to play and the neck is very fast. I have not been able to find any blemishes or finish mistakes on this guitar. Its an increadable value. Looks increadable.

I have been playing for over 20 years I have been through all kind of gear. I currently use these 3 guitars through a Line 6 Pod XT Pro into a BBE 482i sonic maximizer into a Marshall 9100 all tube stereo power amp )12ax7 and 5881) and a 1960a 4x12 Marshall cab I play in a band with a guy who uses A dual rectifier and with my rig I can top anything he can and do more he can't. I've never had a more vesitile rig in 20 years that sounded 1/2 as good. I am not bragging but my rig cost 1/2 what my buddies did and sounds just as good. Better in some ways he tells me that all the time but he is playing a name (MESA) and he wont get rid of it. I get compliments all the time from other musicians on its versitility. Anyway back to the guitars I reccomend these guitars because they are solidly built, they look and play great and with a few inexpensive mods you can have several guitars that sound as good as one guitar costing 3 times as much. Remember I said my buddy used to play a custom 22? He sold it on ebay and now has 2 C1 pluses I modded for him and money in his pocket left over. Sound like a pro without the endorsement. People will ask you how you're $500 guitar sounds as good as theres does. Some will be upset when they find out how much varity you have for less than the cost of theirs.

My style is basically Metal/Alt. rock/Classic rock which the guitar is suited perfect for. The stock pickups are a bit muddy but they serve my purpose. If I absolutly HAD to change them I would replace them with PRS Dragon II or true Duncans. For the money you won't find a better deal on a guitar. Forget the PRS for right now, go with this axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Factory set up was great compared to other reviews i've read. I haven't changed a thing on it other than added some Dean Markleys. One minor flaw in the finish, a tiny spot next to the binding but no biggie.

Without a doubt this guitar will stand up to whatever you dish out (when I say whatever I exclude you dumbasses who like to use guitars as sledgehammers). I can this guitar lasting me for a while, im pretty rough with them. So far i've had it six months with hardly any scratches (I scratched the #$@# out of the backside of my Takamine EF-341C 3 days after buying it). Parts from S. Korea, set up in the US
Body: Mahogany with Flame Maple Top (nice figuring on mine), tummy cut, creme binding
Neck: 24 jumbo frets, 24-3/4 scale, creme binding, narrow feel, perfect thickness -- not like a baseball bat (Gibson) but not like an index card (Ibanez); just right for a solid feel and fast play
Pickups: HH with stock Duncan Designed HB-103s (modeled after JB and Jazz)
Hardware: Tone Pros, Grover Tuners (hold tune pretty well and feel solid but locking tuners are always a good upgrade)

Overall this guitar has very nice features but it doesn't make 10 since it lacks locking tuners, the guitars tends to have flaws in the figuring, and the Duncan Designed pickups are not great but not bad

Sound : 8
I play a lot of classic rock and blues: Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Who, Cream, The Yardbirds etc...
This guitar is great for the music I play. It has a slightly dark tone, but not as dark as a gibson. I switched out the stock pickups for a Gibson Burstbucker bridge and 57 neck. These pickups made the guitar. I can get a great Zeppelin tone from the bridge, Clapton in the middle position with the neck turned down and the bridge turned all the way up and a great warm tone from the neck. The guitar is also capable of a nice clean sound.

Again not a 10 due to the stock pickups.

I used to play with a very LOW action. I was listening to a lot of Vai and Satriani at the time...I also bought an Ibanez, but we all make mistakes. I've raised the action since and now it's about right. With the low action the sustain was hurt and there was fret buzz on big bends. Now there is only a slight buzz on the upper frets and the sustain is good.

8 for flaws in finish and fret buzz.

This guitar feels like it could survive a fight with Pete Townshend, though I wouldn't give mine to him to try. The stock strap buttons are nice a big, I still havn't gotten locks but I will. I've played gigs with this guitar without a backup and I felt comfortable, but everyone knows you should always have a backup. My one gripe is the input. I've had to re-solder the input jack and replace it, but now it's fine.

I've been playing guitar for about 9 years and this is my favorite guitar (of the ones I've owned). I played this guitar note for note with a few PRSs including a CE24 and a Custom24. I can't say the Schecter felt just like the PRS, but of all the guitars I played in GC, this one was the best value and felt almost as nice as a PRS. I would buy this guitar again in a second if it were stolen.

I've given this guitar an overall rating of 9 because of its incredible bang for your buck price and its ability to compete with Gibson and PRS.

Brand-new 04 model, probably made in 2003, traded-for at Guitar Center in Phoenix this last weekend. Gave up a Y2K Jackson SL-4 Soloist (Japanese made) for this and couldn't be happier if I started crapping out gold bricks. Flamed maple top, Vintage Sunburst, plenty of gloss everywhere and no flaw anywhere on the guitar. Smooooooooooth Gotoh tuners, maple neck with rosewood fretboard and absolute perfection as far as the fretwork is concerned. As good as my last US-built Warmoth neck, which was more than 1/3 the cost of this entire guitar, and included NO GLOSS FINISH! Maybe the boys from Schecter have been doin' a little late night research on this site, but this guitar is a "good 'un"~

Sound : 9
Think Les Paul smoothness with the nice crunch of Seymours added on. Could Genuine Seymour Duncans be any better than the Duncan-Designed models. In a word, no. As I said, I A/B'd this with a Jackson Soloist SL-4 with Seymours in it (the real ones) and the main difference in sound was the bridge (Floyd vs Tune-o-matic) and the wood in the body. At home, in my garage, I'm not certain that I'll ever want to change out the pickups! Might want a bit more note-definition in distorted chords someday (would switch to EMGs) but was tickled pink by the tones I was gettin' last night! Wicked mojo happenin' in this beastie...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action, great... not so low as to induce buzzing, not too high or awkward. Pickup heights were great, all the controls solidly mounted, nothing loose, no static. Bookmatching is off by 1/4 inch (and yes, these are identical pieces, its easy to tell) but I could really care less about that. I haven't stopped playing the guitar long enough to really look at the top!

Reliability/Durability : 10
If you abuse 'em, expect all guitars to break. No one should gig without a backup unless you can't AFFORD a backup! That said, the finish seems nice and thick, and very flat. Anyone who's ever worked with mahogany knows how difficult this is to achieve, since all of the "holes" in the grain have to be filled first. Will the finish wear off the body? I doubt it in my care. Will the finish wear off the hardware? Yes, probably some of it will over time. Its all standard spaced stuff though, so if it does, just replace it.

Haven't dealt with them. Nice website but could use some photos of the backs of the guitars too (pay attention Schecter!).

Overall Rating : 10
I've played for years, owned a bunch of guitars over several decades now (damn, where did the time go?), and haven't ever seen a guitar from Korea made this well. Of course, I still remember when people used to say that about guitars from Japan in the 80's too. Someday, even the folks in India and Indochina will "get up on it" and produce some stunning instruments.

I was looking specifically for 24 3/4" scale for a "looser" feeling on the strings. Options are now quite limited. There's Gibson (ouch $$$) or Epiphone, but the fact that the refuse to "moderize" the shape of the Les Paul with even a body scallop on the rear or a better, smoother heel joint really turns me off about those guitars. Then there's ESP's LTD series EC-1000. That looks bitchin', but look is all I can do since there's no dealers in Phoenix that I can find. Sure I can pays my money and takes my chances with Musician's Fiend online, but I really like to play 'em first. Have 7 guitars currently, and all were 25.5" (Fender) scale, two locking trems, one Wilkinson, and two Steinberger R-trems. Being able to TRY one first, then TRADE one of my locking trems for this guitar made it fall within my meager budget ($0)! Had it not been for that, I wouldn't own it now. Was a complete wash between this and the sound of my Soloist, but the soloist originally cost $1185 hanging on the wall and this was $529! To even be in the same league is a major victory for anything Korean-made! Might get a second one in that Wine Red, then I can keep one stock, and install those 25th Anniversary EMGs for the pickups I've been lusting after!

nice grover tunners. i barely ever have to tune it. i think US made. 2volume knobs and one tone. beautiful sunburst finish and inlays. thru body bridge. two duncan humbuckers. mine came with a real nice case but i got it used from i a music shop in lansing michigan. i don't know if it normally comes with one.

Sound : 9
for hard rocking music this guitar sounds great. i play alot of metal and this guitar sounds excellent. when you kick on the distortion and play palm mute you get that chucka chucka that sounds totally evil. All of that goes away when you get it clean. it sounds crystal clear and there is no muddyness whatsoever.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
i bought mine used so i don't know how it was originally set up. it played great when i got it. i recently put on some extra heavey stings though(maybe .11)and i'm getting alittle fret buzz i'll probably adjust it soon. the finish is absolutly beautiful. mine is antique sunburst. there are no flaws and i get alot of complements. the inlays are pretty too. i think they are mother of pearl and abolgne. they are kind od in a v shape. you could almost buy this guitar for looks alone. that fact that is sounds as good as it looks though really makes this a good guitar

it try to be super careful with it but its got some scratches in the back from my belt. i've never dropped it so i done really know how it would hold up but everything feels real solid.

If you are looking to make a move up from your beginner guitar i would definatly consider this one. it will satisfy you even when you have your platnum records and can afford something four times as much. If mine was stolen or lost i'd probably poop my pants then cry for three weeks. Then i'd muster up all my change to buy a new one

Mine is a 2003, I think. I think it's made in Korea. You can go check on their website for the specs. But I don't really like the pick-ups.

Sound : 8
My music style is mostly hard rock/heavy metal and it's okay for that. I use it with my peavey studio pro 112(AWESOME AMP!!!) and it works pretty good with it except the pick-ups are kind of "muddy" so I'm looking for a clearer tone, so I'll probably change the pick-ups and if that doesn't work I'll probably sell it. The sound is sometimes too bright for my taste. It has a GREAT clean sound, but sometimes I wonder about the distortion, but all of this is just MY opinion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is AWESOME!!
It wasn't set up right at the factory, though. I had to get it fixed.

I have kind of lost my "trust" in this guitar because for a while it kept breaking down and stuff so I had to bring it to the store so I could get it fixed.

This is a newer model of the schecter c-1+. Tonepro locking bridge, sculpted neck joint(not boxy like the older models). Everything is the same except for the flame maple top/color. See other areas for my gripes.

Ok for stock pickups. I always throw in real seymour duncans.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Ok, The old models of the Schecter c-1+ guitars are BAD ASS. Mine however is a new line of them where they SKIMPED OUT! The finish/flame maple on their vintage sunburst is nothing compared to the older models. They completely raped the damn thing for what has made it popular! This guitar no longer looks like a killer high quality flame top! Now it is thin barely 3-d AKA CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! Epiphone has better flame tops than this now! I was severly sickened. Honestly! I've owned the past models and ended up selling them for profit. I should kick myself in the ass for that. Anyhow, they throw a nice bridge on the guitar(locking), but really cut their costs on the overall visual cosmetics on this. FU schecter! You were great at one time.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
The pickup mounting rings are weak and crappy and chip away easy.

Features, made in korea, unk. year of manufacture but mine is the older model without the tonepros bridge,24frets,mahogany body maple neck with rosewood fretboard and drop dead gorgeous flamed maple top! H/H duncan design pickups, set neck and grover tuners, no case disapointingly came with this gorgeous guitar. It basically is strat shaped/les paul hybrid 24/3quarter scale guitar that I've seen other reviewers refer to as (poor mans PRS) fair enough! But I have'nt found a prs yet that I would part with two thousand bones for and I have done that before with a LP and a martin so... And this schecter will definately put a prs off even further but I,m still looking.

Sound : 10
I play classic rock and have two LP standards and a couple of Mex strats one of which is loaded with EMG/DG20 assembly(nice) and US tele, This guitar is now my favorite! and is the first one I grab, it,s very versitile sitting somewhere between strat and LP on the sound spectrum with a quality of tone that has cut down my changing guitars duing the set! the LP is the backup now and I only use the strat on (you guessed it) strat stuff needing that out of phase sound and tremolo stuff. As far as the stock pickups go I'm going to leave them in for now because this guitar just flat out works as is, I mean coil tapping the stockers is a option and changing out for REAL DUNCANS is interesting ideal but for now all I had to do was adjust pickup hight to balance out the volumes (the neck pickup was sassy) and restring with elevens(GHS) and like Ron Popeel always says (SET IT AND FORGET IT). This is a mid priced axe that loves to mix it up with the big boys! Oh and I forgot to mention the tone nob really has a big effect on the sound I find myself rolling it around 7 to 10 to blend in on different songs again this is why I used to change guitars sometimes five times a set! well no more, our other guitar player was mentioning that we finally culled through five years worth of what works for the set and what does'nt that we've arrived at a one five space stand for both of our guitars! this saves time and stage space!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This particular guitar sat in the local music go round for ever and the owner could'nt get over why it had'nt sold? I remember him showing it to me when it first came in and we were in awe of how gorgeous it was and the quality and finish for the money, I was'nt interested at the time because I was saving up for something vulgar like a doubleneck Gibson or one of those PRS's they hang twenty feet above the floor at your local GC. Then one day I got a urge and went down and traded in my old bass rig that had been gathering dust for this axe and now it just disses all over my other axe's quality fit finish, everything!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I did trade the strap buttons out for gold schaller lockers so I can use my SRV stap (my faverite) the hardware seems top notch and my LP standard sunburst is the backup to this guitar, the LP sounds great to but is so friggin heavy! My other LP is a showboat gold top that sounds terrible, LP's are for the younger crowd that still have vertebra in there backs and I would'nt want to sit on a stool like Robert Fripp because that looks lame, The schecter adds reliability and durability where it really counts (ON ME)! light, balanced, tone rugged!!

Customer Support : 9
never delt with them but I love their web site, Has all the schematics and stuff, if they put out a quality product like this, I'm sure they'll stand behind their guitars! I give it a nine because I like the web site.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing since 1979 been in some bands since highschool and currently in a classic rock cover band doing the wedding/small club scene, on stage I use a Vox valvetronix amp for my guitars and a Roland JC120 for my keyboards and a Carvin AG100 for PA at small acustic gig/practices I also have a theremin that I put through a memoryman into the boards to make a we're the seventies statement! This guitar is my favorite and I plan on gettin rid of my spare strat to get semihollow piezo version of this guitar, C1/EA as far as anything else I wish the C1+ had is maybe a coil tap but most coil taps I've delt with before have been disapointing. I want to demo their model that has this feature first before I decide, Also They make a trem model but has floyd style which I don't need I use light vibato and a flush old fender design or wilkenson would be more to my taste. But this stringthrough body C1+ is going to be my bread and butter for a long time.

Great looking vintage sunburst finish. Stock Duncan-designed humbuckers, passive. Thick as a paul, but shaped like a strat. Pretty darn heavy, but not as heavy as a paul. Extra jumbo frets. Tone Pros standard bridge. Fast, narrow neck.

Sound : 8
Sounds of the stock humbuckers is pretty good; though I may upgrade them in the future. A lot of bass in the sound, though the bridge pickup does cut. I use it with a 50 Watt Class A/B Tube Combo and
Maxon effects. Very good for '70s, '90s hard rock; does AC/DC like nobody'd business. Not quite the guitar for Dokken or Icon or '80s sounds, but that's why I have an Ibanez. Tons of sustain, and a real sweet sound when you bend notes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
OKAY...HERE'S THE DEAL...I bought one of these and there was a terrible buzzing on the A string, no matter how high I put the action. I had it professionally setup, and it still didn't fix it. But I exchanged it for another one, and the new one sounds fine. I think the jumbo frets buzz a little by nature if you play hard and
dig down into the strings.

Also, the first one I bought had splotches of gray paint in the finish! The new one only has a slight paint underrun at the binding. These almost all have slight cosmetic issues, pick the one that you can live with!

IF YOU BUY ONE OF THESE...try out several of them. I tried four. One of them was great, two were okay, and one had the major buzz issue mentioned above.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Seems very solid. Just beware of manufacturing quality issues.

This guitar is a great value for the money. They call it the "Poor Man's Paul Reed Smith", and yeah, for about $500 you won't find anything nicer looking. The neck feels great, I'm still getting used to the extra-jumbo frets (I usually play medium.) BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY ONE then try several out. Check for finish blemishes--you WILL find them...and check for the fret buzz...here's the trick: Play "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen, or another song where you have to bend low notes. Listen WITHOUT and amp. Happy hunting, because if you find a good one, it's worth twice what you'll pay for it.

If you are a newbie guitar player it will suit just fine. For those who have experience with pickups and tone will agree that they have to be tossed and put real ones in.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I wanted to clear some things up here about the guitar. They are 100% REAL flame maple tops, but vary in quality(flame depth and 3Dness). I've owned one of each color of the C-1 plus models. The Vintage sunburst is awesome looking! I bought the other colors of this model and they just don't compare to the vintage sunburst.
Now.. for the bridge. I have to agree that it is notorious for breaking strings prematurely. This goes for any model before the revised version of this guitar. They now come with Tone Pro locking bridges. They should not break them as easy. Also, if you don't want to upgrade your old one with the tone pros($60) you should at least get a more reliable TOM bridge($30 Gotoh Japanese@ www.stew-mac.com).

- Strat style body
- Grover Tuners (Awesome!)
- String Thru body
- Jumbo frets
- 3 way selector

My other choice was the c-1 stealth but i didn't wanna go through the ordering process. (call me lazy) The stealth had two features that i'd like to have on this guitar (the coil taps and the real duncans) but otherwise, its the same guitar

Sound : 9
This guitar fits my style perfectly. I play metal. Period. There is hardly any buzz except on the extreme overdrive channel on my amp (fender 90 DSP 112)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The first c-1 plus i got was a black cherry color or whatever. It was messed up. There was some extreme buzzing, even after i raised the bridge and the neck humbucker didnt work. But i loved the sound and look of the guitar so much, i took it back and exchanged it for another one in brown sunburst or whatever. This one is awesome and hasn't failed me at all. This guitar has the most wicked finish on a mid-priced guitar you can get.

The features of this guitar have been fully described in previous reviews. This is a stock setup C1 Plus in black cherry finish.

Sound : 9
The Duncan designed pickups are adequate for my needs. The bridge pickup is somewhat bright, the neck pickup is full, rich and warm.
I am playing this through a Fender Champ and a Kustom 30 watt w/chorus sometimes using a Digitech RP-50 multi-effects. The tone pot has a little scratchiness down around the 1..0 range, but I rarely go that low. The two volume pots don't have any noise at all.
This guitar can cover all of the tonal ranges I need and has exceptional sustain and warmth

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I bought this guitar used. It was either setup by the factory or the previous owner/seller I'm not sure, but it's action is low and fast without any buzz and the pickups are setup perfectly. The finish is a beautiful black cherry with flamed maple top (which shows very subtly through the finish). The only flaw in the finish is a slight overrun in the binding directly below the neck p/u volume pot. This is one beautiful guitar (IMHO).

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is super solid with good quality hardware. The finish seems durable and only time will tell how well it wears. I baby this thing (it's always in a hard-shell case when not in use) so I expect it to last forever. It seems very dependable and I would probably use it without a backup.

Okay, first of all please excuse me for any misspelling. I'm danish. Okay... I don't know when this guitar was made, and I don't think it matters anyway. It's a mahogny body, with two Duncan Design pickups. The bridge pickup is a HB-103B model, which is made after the Seymour Duncan Distortion model. Haven't compared the two pickups yet, but that's no big deal. They sound okay. It haves one volume control, and two tone controls. Can't complain about that eiter. I actually don't remember what sort of tree the neck is made of, but I'm sure someone else stated that in a previous review. The body shape is a little hard for me to descripe, cause it has styles from alot of guitar such as PRS (the headstock, but not completely knock-off) and the rest which I think looks like a strat, but slightly longer and not that wide. The best way for you to judge is to look at it. Grover tuners, string thru body, 24 3/4 neck scale with jumbo frets I guess.

It has what I need... since it could have more features I won't give it a 10.

Sound : 8
I'm not the type who setles with one musical style all my life. Sometimes I get influenced by jazz, classic and lots of other styles. I mainly play heavy rock, most Tool and System of a down at the moment. It's perfect for that music. Even jazz tones are easy to achieve, and classic too because of the great sustain this guitar posesses. It's not very noisy, a little noise may be heard, but that's no big issue, cause you can't possible hear it when playing. I think it's very good sounding. Maybe a little too dark. Nothing you can't cure with the EQ section of your amp. One little dislike I had before it got modded, was that when I rolled down on the volume control, the sound would become dull, not present. I got muddy. What I did was to put a condensator in it. I can highly recommend it. Now it sounds great. Although the stock pickups sounds okay, I'm planning to get some new ones in it. Perhaps some PAF's.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
the neck feels absolutely great, nice action. The bridge is beginning to wear off (the guitar is bought a couple of years ago brand new.) and I believe the problem is me. I have exce?tionally sweaty hands when playing. It also affects my strings, as they looses every tone within a weeks playing. Fortunately it doesn't affect the sound at all. The frets are beautiful, the finish is gourgess. There is some glue between the nut and the first fret, but it doens't bother me. My volume control is stuck and wont come off. Haven't got the slightest idea why, but I can still control the volume with it. Besides that, everything else is perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Will definitely withstand live playing. The hardware is strong specially the tuners. They withstand standard tuning with 0.11 to 0.58 string gauges. The finish is very hard to knock a hole in. Not that I've tried that believe me, but occasionally I'm a bit clumsy. Ironically it wasn't me bumping it into a wall that made the first little nick in the finish. It came one day I was chaning the strings. You have to pull the strings thru the body, and where the strings are wounded around the tuners it sometimes can scratch the finish when pulled through. Guess I was just unlucky. But don't fear, the finish IS very durable. And thick as well, the little nick in the finish hasn't gone through the finish. It takes alot of beating I must say. Don't know about strap buttons, I replaced them with strap locks since I'm a very energic player on stage. Don't worry, you can depend on this guitar to last. I would use this on a gig without a backup, and I have done that as a matter of fact. But always be sure to have extra strings with you.

Customer Support : 8
I don't know. If there's something wrong with it, I take it to the store where I bought it and they'll deal with it.

Been playing for 10 years now. I play through a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier Solo 50 watter, with a Behringer Compressor and noise gate in front. If it got stolen, I would be very mad. And by a new one of course. I love the feel of it, the look of it, the sound of it. Don't know what the deal is with Gibson and Fenders. I'm not saying they are bad guitars, but they are not worth the price. I actually hope Schecter wont get more famous about their guitars, since the price would increase then. You get alot of guitar for the money spend.

For rock of any sort this thing rules. The mohogany body gives it great rock tone. It stays in tune better than any guitar i've played. I play it for hard rock and metal. The duncans on it are muddy though. I reccomend some EMG 81's. Its NOT noisy considering its got stock pups in it. I had it on 10 with a 90w amp and i only got slight noise. It sounds SUPER heavy to me, not a country guitar.

The electronics on it are a bit scrathcy, so replace them.

Its a 10 with new pickups, but a 9 with the stocks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It was 100% set up for me when it arrived, still in tune even! The pickups were perfectly adjusted. All of the construction was perfect, the finish wasn't the best i've seen though. It had no errors on it though, perfect perfect.

If this falls into this catagory, the vol pots were a little scratchy.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I think it will last me for the rest of my life if i take good care of it. The hardware on it looks good. The finish is a little feeble, shouldnt be hit against things a lot (i.e. knocking over a mic stand live). All finishes will wear over time i think. I will most certainly replace the strap buttons with straplocks. The strap hasn't came off yet, but i wont take any chances.

I wouldn't use it without a backup, thats suicide. Nomatter what.

Customer Support : 7
Schecter replies to my emails, though not very quickly. I think they dont have enough people working for them, but they sure as hell get the job done down there. I havn't had any problems with it yet, and probobaly wont.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Its a great guitar and I love it. I would only trade it for one guitar in the entire world ('76 explorer). It would sell for 1200 easily if they put better pickups on it. Schecter isnt as popular as gibson or fender yet so their prices havent been inflated, their guitars would sell for x2 as much if they were.

I believe mine is a 2003 model and its made in Korea. It has 24 frets, Antique Amber finish. Basic controls are 3 knobs, 2 volume and 1 tone, with a 3 way switch. The Pickups are Duncan Designed humbuckers, in H/H configuration. This model features the string-thru body tailpiece.

Now for my opinion:

It has all the key features that are necessary to play rock/hard rock/metal/alternative etc. It has the high output humbuckers, the obligatory toggle switch, etc etc. Its not lacking any features. What more do you want!

Sound : 10
This guitar is perfect for my music style which is a blend of Hard Rock and Metal, with a bit of Alternative thrown into it. The guitar has a lot of sustain and it was setup perfectly from the factory. I use it with a PODxt directly into my recording gear and the tone is unreal. Well I find the pickups to be a bit bassy if you are going for clean tones, but distorted they are great. The most amazing part is that it stays in tune no matter how badly I abuse the strings. I've had guitars that stay in tune before, but not with this much abuse and playing. I've only tuned it once in 4 weeks and I've been playing everyday!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came setup perfectly. It looks beautiful. All the parts worked as expected, the guitar was also in tune. That was kind of amazing. Since I ordered it online and didn't expect that. There isn't a single flaw in the finish. Its basically a $1000 guitar for half that price!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't know much about this section yet. As I've only had it for a month now. But from what I can see, the quality is there and there is no reason this guitar should have problems holding up to any amount of reasonable abuse. This is probably the first guitar I would attempt to gig without a backup. I get a good feeling from its build quality that everything inside and out has been done right.

No reason to yet.

I've been playing guitar for 13 years and I have owned PRS, Epi Les Paul, Fender American Strat, Parker Nitefly, Jackson V, Ibanez RG, etc. My favorite until this guitar was the PRS, I only sold it because I wasn't playing much and couldn't justify it. Now that I am playing again, I bought this and all I can say is, its the best guitar I have owned. For this price, you are playing a professional instrument that could be played in a stadium arena setting or in a local club or in a garage. I would definitely buy it again if it got stolen or lost. I love the whole package. Its the complete package that makes this guitar so sweet. Its lighter than my Strat, its got better metal/rock tone than most of my other guitars, its cheaper than the strat. I love everything about this guitar. The Antique Amber is the color to have. I was very torn between the Black Cherry or Antique Amber and I'm glad I did the Amber. Its very dark dark brown, with the grain showing in different angles. I compared all the other C1 models from Schecter and the C1+ had the color combo and the features I wanted. If you are in the market for a guitar in this price range and caliber, get the Schecter, you won't be disappointed. If you REALLY want a PRS, get the Schecter and change the pickups to PRS!

Features are nice- Mahogany body with figured top, set mahogany neck, tune-o-matic bridge, string through the body, dual Duncan Design humbuckers, etc etc etc.

Sound : 6
Okay, the sound from the store was alright in my opinion, but not great. The pickups just didnt do it for me, they were very muddy, not really clear at all. I play punk rock/hardcore stuff, but Im pretty anal about my tone, so I needed something with more definition. I played around with a few different pickup combos in this guitar, going from a real Duncan JB and the Duncan Design neck p/u, to a Gibson Burstbucker and no neck pickup, and now Ive finally settled on a Duncan 59 and no neck ( I dont use the neck pickup much anyways). I used this with a Mesa Boogie Triaxis rack setup, but in the past few weeks Ive sold it for a Rectoverb, cause I only really used a few different patches on the Triaxis anyways. But It sounds great now through both, very full, very complex really. I love it. But I have to rate this as it stood from the store, and that wasnt as great...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I have mixed feelings about this... the finish is a superb, well done, eye-popping, black cherry finish, with a figured top, which Im not sure is real or fake, but it doesnt matter to me. The overall look of the instrument is just awesome. The action is nice for me too, not too low (I dont like it terribly low, I cant bend as well) but not a mile over the frets either. It plays very easy. But my MAJOR gripe about this guitar is the bridge. Im not sure what model of bridge they put on here, but I break strings constantly, not just one, but the e,a,d,and g strings, all the time, and they always break at the bridge. Ive had this guitar set up and everything, and the repair shop filed down the bridge slots for me, but it doesnt help, I still break them like crazy. This could reflect my playing style, too, cause when I get into it, I pretty much beat the crap out of the strings. But none of my other guitars go through strings as fast. I was told it could be the angle of the strings coming off the back of the bridge, which is great, because its non-adjustable. One time, I broke an A string at the bridge as I was putting it on the guitar, stretching it out.... and that shouldnt be happening.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar holds up to live playing very well, its my main stage guitar, but I do have to keep my backup close because I can almost guarantee I will break a string every night. The only other reliability issue I had with it was the strap buttons started pulling out of the wood after about 6 months, but thats because I jump and thrash around a lot on stage. Super glue fixed that problem nicely. So no point deductions there.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Ive never dealt with Schecter

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing for 5 years, and Im in a touring band, so I needed something that would sound great, play easy, be reliable, night after night, for around $500. Thats a lot to ask of a guitar, but I found it in the Schecter C1+. This guitar fits my style well, with the pickup change. The potential of this instrument more than makes up for the lacking sound of the stock pickups. Once I figure out the string breaking problem, I wouldnt be afraid to put it up against any Les Paul for sound quality, reliability, and looks. And it kicks its ass in the value department at the same time.

You know the lineup - mahogany body and neck, carved, flamed maple veneered top, 24 jumbo frets, stop-bar tail piece, Les Paul 24-3/4" scale, easy on the eyes.

Sound : 7
I bought this guitar somewhat on a whim. I had seen it in several catalogs, and one came up on Ebay inexpensively, so I tried it. It was to partially replace two of my guitars that were stolen - a Carvin and a Charvel. To be honest, those are actually some rather large shoes to fill.

The pickups on the Schecter, as I'm sure is mentioned in the other reviews, are a Jazz at the neck, and JB at the bridge. Both are the overseas-made "Duncan Designed" versions. I don't have first hand experience with the originals, but these both left me wanting for more. The Jazz pickup at the neck is fabulous for exactly that - jazz. Don't expect much more, though. I felt it was a bit muddy and didn't hold chord definition very well - especially when distortion is added to the mix. It's a great mellow pickup, but I'd prefer something with a little clearer sound.

The bridge pickup would be great for higher output situations, where you really want to crank. (It should be noted that both pickups are higher output than I'm used to.) This one gives pretty decent definition to the individual notes, even with pretty heavy distortion. However, it still lacked a little "something". Not sure what. I'm not a death metal player, so I'm not sure how well it would hold up for that. But for a more "classic" sound, this one would do well.

I think that having the solid mahogany body and neck is a pretty major advantage for this instrument. Swapping out pickups would probably make this an ideal instrument. As it stands, it does a pretty decent job of recreating the Les Paul sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar is actually quite beautiful. I still can't believe you can get a carved top guitar as cheap as you can today. That's definitely a nice touch. I'm assuming the top on this thing is just veneered, and I would say that it looks quite a bit better than many of the "flamed tops" I've seen lately. Most lack any depth. I've come from a couple of previous guitars that have solid figured tops, and there is a difference (for those that care). This one has more depth than most, which is nice. The finish is quite good, even after a couple different owners.

I did a quick and dirty setup on the guitar, which pretty much amounted to adjusting the action a hair, and tweaking the intonation. I'm a huge fan of the shorter scale, as I like the play as easy as possible. This one delivers.

The neck has sort of an "in between" feel. It's a pretty standard width, and perhaps slightly thicker than standard. Actually, quite a bit like a LP neck. I'm used to slightly thinner necks, but this was still very comfortable. One thing I wasn't thrilled about was the gloss finish on the neck. Kind of gets a slimy feel to it after a while. Personal pet peeve I guess.

The neck inlay is considerably more complex than it would appear in most photos you would see. Looks like it would be a bit of a process to do the work. It's a dot and two "V's", in abalone and mother of pearl. Nice touch.

Everything about the guitar oozes with quality, which I guess one would expect from a guitar in it's price range. Still, you do get a lot for what you are paying for.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'm at least the second owner of this instrument, which is only 2 or 3 years old. The input jack comes loose occasionally, and the tone pot is a little scratchy (does anyone actually use that thing anyway?). Otherwise it seems to be a very durable instrument. Picking up the guitar immediately instills a sense of quality. It's a bit heavier than your average strat-type instrument. I think it's a bit thicker in the center, and the denser mahogany adds a good solid feel, and a nice natural resonance. It's a bit lighter than a real Les Paul, which is nice if you ever have to strap it on.

I think this is a great guitar for someone stepping up from a "beginner" guitar. To be honest, if the electronics were a bit better, I couldn't see any reason to own anything more expensive. This thing is pretty well decked out in the visual department, so there's not a whole lot higher to go. It's definitely one of the best guitars in it's price range, and a clear step up from all of the cheap Strat and Les Paul knock-offs. It's got it's own distinct and unique look, which I really appreciate. It's not a punk instrument, so us non-deathmetal guitarists can feel comfortable playing it in front of other people. My only complaint is really with the pickups. If they were a little more refined, I think I could recommend this guitar to ANYONE.

I've been playing for about 15 years, and have owned Charvel, Yamaha, Ibanez, Ovation, Guild and a couple of Carvins. The C-1 Plus fits in somewhere in the middle, in my opinion.

I play melodic rock to hard rock to metal, and this guitar does it all. The bridge pickup sounds so good that I usually leave it on all the time. If you want blues/jazz though, the neck pickup is great for that.

The pickups are REALLY hot. This is great for distortion, but sometimes the clean gets distorted as well.

For crunch and lead, this axe is really really good. I cannot say that enough!

Makes my marshall sound SOOO much better than my strat.

My only real complaint is how it distorts clean channels sometime, but this can be fixed with tweaks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
AWESOME! PRS action and finish with no PRS price! Cant complain here!

Made in 2002. Grover tuners are what they are. The Duncan design pickups suit me just fine. Almost as good as the real thing. Nice thin fast neck, and jumbo frets. I also got the diamond series gig bag with it. Nice thick padding and constructed to last. These guys know how to make a guitar-I'd put it up against any strat, les paul or tele in it's class and then some.

Sound : 10
Great warm tones for jazz. Killer crunch for rockin' and playing da Blues!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The main reason for getting this baby is the fit. I didn't have to adjust anything. I got lucky-it was set up at the factory perfectly for me. The action is great! This guitar is a factory 2nd. Has a really tiny "2" stamped in the last fret. It's so small that if you weren't aware of it you'd never know it was there. I can't find any flaws in this guitar that would make it a 2nd. Great quality control from the factory. Maybe they use microscopes!

Finish is great, although I haven't had the guitar too long, but it'll probably hold up fine-I treat my guitars better than my own family-ouch! Hope they don't read this!

2002 model, black cherry, 24 frets. 2 volume, 1 tone, 3 - way selector. two humbuckers (duncan designed), mahogany neck and body.

Sound : 6
it's pretty good for most types of music that i play - jazz, blues, alt-rock, occasionally some hard rock.

the stock neck pickup is decent, but i'm having a problem with the bridge pickup. it's weak and anemic, and adjusting it causes other problems (more on this later). Still, they're decent pickups (for a lower-cost stock guitar), and some nice clean and blues tones can be gotten from the neck.

BTW: the low(er) rating in this category just means that i don't find the sound outstanding. it doesn't mean it's bad.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
this is what sold me on the guitar. In my opinion, the way the guitar feels is the most important quality in a guitar - pickups and other hardware can be changed for a better sound, but the playability is paramount. The action on this guitar was perfect when i picked it up in the store, and the neck played fast and comfortably. the finish seemed (seems) fine and looks beautiful, and the guitar sustained amazingly well.

There was one problem that i noticed a couple days after i got the guitar - the bridge pickup was so high that touching the lowest string produced an annoying buzz sound. it took awhile for me to figure out what was causing it - the string was hitting the bridge pickup! this was easily fixed with a screwdriver.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
i think this guitar would do well playing live, but i certainly wouldn't throw it around. the finish has a few bumps in it from the guitar hitting walls, etc. The hardware looks solid, except i've had to tighten the output jack a couple of times - typical with most guitars. the strap buttons themselves seemed solid, but i was sick of the strap falling off so i replaced them with straplocks. I would use it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
i've been playing about 2 years, and i had only been playing for about a year when i bought it. I'd definitely buy it again - or, something similar. maybe the c-1 elite because it seems similar, except without the amazing top and with better pickups. this guitar is perfect for me - i'm planning on replacing the pickups soon, but like i said, the feel is the most important thing. probably my favorite part about it is the neck - not too thin, not too fat. probably the only part i don't like is the easily dinged finish - i wish it was more robust.

I compared this guitar to a les paul, a couple strats, and a prs. To me, this guitar sounded better than the strats, played better than the les paul, and felt exactly like the prs! I chose this because it was cheap, and it felt good, unlike most of the other guitars i played.

The sound is suprisingly versitile, I go from a nice dreamy mellow clean bit, to all out balls to the walls gain, it can do it all with a little tweeking of amp and tone/vol knobs. I put 11's on it and it has so much more depth, it sounds heavenly. I might get the humbuckers taped to make it even more versitile.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The set up is your average middle of the road set up. The finnish is great, a tiny flaw here and there maybe, but thats to be expected with anything, I've seen most gibsons these days with terrible finnishes. Quality of materials is top notch. I added schaller strap locks of course. Had it set up and put 11's on it andit plays like a dream.

2002 model - I think. Vintage Sunburst color. Comes with the TonesPro bridge which wasn't secured (as I found out when I changed the strings and it went bouncing merrily across my floor). Y'all know the rest. Not a feature-laden guitar but was exactly what I was looking for.

Sound : 8
Even with the "Duncan Lite" pickups in it, this thing is pretty ballsy. I was especially impressed with the neck pickup sound which is great for slightly overdriven blues tones. They both kick out a surprising amount of bass - I can see why all those nu-metal weenies are using these guitars. I'll probably follow the advice of all the others and get better pickups put in it eventually but the stock ones do the job well enough for now. They are hands-down better than the "Duncan Lites" that came stock in my ESP H-200. I'm currently running it through a Boss GT-6 and Digitech Whammy II into a Peavey Bandit 112. I'm hoping to upgrade to a Fender Hotrod soon though and try very hard to forget my days of rocking out with the anemic-as-fuck peavey tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Yeah it's got it's tiny flaws here and there as any mass produced guitar will have. Nothin' major though. Besides the little bridge incadent, there's a small blemish between the pickups that looks like a fingertip smudge in the paint. It's not really noticible - a friend didn't notice it until I pointed it out to her. I could see why everybody has been having issues with the XJ frets as they do require a light touch with the stock strings. I imediately switched those for a set of 11's and the problem went away. The bridge pickup volume pot is scratchy and drops out a full volume which is odd for a new guitar and would piss me off except I plan on tinkering with the wiring anyways. I'm going to set it up with a master volume followed by a bass rolloff tone knob followed by the standard treble rolloff tone knob. I'm also thinking about using push-pull tone knobs so I can split the coils.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I ain't going to be throwing this one across the stage like i've done to a few of my other guitars but this one looks like it could take a beating. The neck didn't bow as much as other guitars have when I upgraded to the 11's which seems to indicate that it's nice and strong - good since when a set neck goes, the guitar is fucked.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with them in the nine hours I've had it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for fourteen years and own far too much musical gear to mention. The main reason I traded for this guitar was the scale leingth. My ESP was allright but with the longer scale leingth, it couldn't handle the 11's I like to play with. My other main electric it a mid-80's Ibanez Roadstar 440 that also has the shorter scale leingth. Though I treasure my Ibanez (it's what I started out on), I think this guitar will fast become my #1 axe. It's got the same feel that the Ibanez has (sadly without the unfinished neck though) but it's a hardtail which makes it much more reliable onstage than my floyd-equipped Ibanez and a whole hell of a lot easier to put into alternate tunings.

First off... Wow! I was impressed when I picked up this baby. I've been playing guitar for a while now, enough to know what I like and what I don't. I came into the Guitar Center looking for a good guitar that wouldn't break the bank. I looked at some high end Epiphones and a Gretch, but was really dissapointed in the quality of the guitars, especialy with the high prices. When I picked up the C-1 plus it was love at first sight!

I play through a Carvin Belair 2x12 amp and this thing rocks! I can get everything form a real classic rock sound to a smooth and clean jazz. The solos are tight and the notes are real easy to bend. The set up was excellent! The pick up switches are crisp and clean. My only dislike is that the you need to have both volume knobbs on to turn on the guitar, but thats the only thing I could comment on.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is smooth. Wow. Bending notes comes easy and the neck slides exceptionaly well for being finished. The guitar is just gorgeous! Check out www.schecterguitars.com to see some pics.

I play lots of style of music and this guitar responds very well to all of them. I use a crate MX120 solid state. Since there are H/H pickups on this guitar, there should be no noises. The neck pickup is unusually brighter then most other pickups and it has a complete sound. The bridge pickup delivers very hot sound a fat fell to it. They distort real well also.

i'm playing this through a crate bv-120h head. it sound incredible. i have tons of pedals i use to spice up the sound, i play a lot of weird music so i use a lot of effects in my band but when i sit at home and practice i usually just play metal, this sounds great for both, the only thing that isn't perfect is the clean on it. but the clean is VERY close to perfect. i wouldn't change a thing about this guitar, a lot of people are changing the pick ups, i love them, and wouldn't touch them.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
action is a little high for my liking but most guitars out of the factory seem too high for me, i like very low action. it's very easy to set it to whatever you want. all you need is a flat head screw driver and your all set. eveything else is fine

Reliability/Durability : 10
i am a very agressive player but i can tell this will withstand MANY gigs, i'm testing it out at it's first one in 2 weeks. the finish is as strong as you can get it, it's not chipping without some effort. i would gig with no back up but i always have other guitars for different tunings. i replaced a beat up gtx with this. i'm also using a jackson jrr-94

Customer Support : No Opinion
i don't think i will need to contact them

Overall Rating : 9
this thing is solid, best thing i've ever played in this price range, 530$ is a steal, i feel like i robbed them, this is almost as good as the deal i got on my jackson jrr-94 (75$ used) all that needed was a screw in the pick up and to be cleaned up a little. i wasn't planning on buying this guitar but i made the mistake of playing it at a random trip to guitar center and feel in love with it. if you don't have the money to spare don't play it, you will end up wanting to buy it. if you are looking for a new guitar look no further then this.

i bought this guitar mainly for the quality of the craftsmanship. The guitar is very well made, the action was very nice, and came with grover tuners. I liked the tone, but i thought it was lacking. I changed the pickups, i put in 2 PRS Dragon 2 pickups in, and the sound difference is HUGE. This guitar sounds so much better w/ these pickups its incredible. I have a friend who owns this same guitar and he always comments on how much better mine sounds. I highly recommend buying this guitar and switching the pickups. I think a guitar with this quality and this sound would be priced in the PRS range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Very nice, action is easily adjustable. The flame is cool, not as nice as some les pauls or PRS's, but what do you expect for 1/4 of the price!

Reliability/Durability : 9
Havent had a single problem, ive owned this guitar for a year and a half. I have noticed that the finish seems very durable, doesn't scratch or ding nearly as easily as other guitars i have owned.

Customer Support : No Opinion
no idea...

Overall Rating : 9
This is a great guitar. I have been playing for over 10 years, ive owned a variety of guitars, and this is a great value. I really recommend switching the pickups, do this and you will have a guitar that sounds and plays better than anything in this price range!

2002 model, made in Korea
24-fret, solid-top, mohogany body, maple top, H/H, 2 volume, 1 tone, fixed bridge with string-thru body, set neck, Grover tuners. Sweet Black Cherry finish with chrome hardware and vector/diamond inlays.

Gobs of features for $500.

Sound : 7
I would call myself a novice, not quite a beginner, and this guitar was a little beyond my level as far as playability (more later). It is probably best for single-note soloing and power chords, not great for clean styles. I like to use a combination of these.

The covered pickups are decent, Les Paul-ish, with a warm sound. You can't control the tone for each pickup separately, so tonal range is a little limited. The guitar is good for hammer-ons and pull-offs and has a clean sound. Sustain is very good, due to the string-thru-body design and set neck. It is difficult to play notes spot-on tune because of the extra-JUMBO frets.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action from the factory was a little high, but I soon found out this was to reduce fret buzz. I was used to playing a Strat with pretty low action, so it took a little getting used to. I had some trouble finding a string setup with no fret buzz but not a mile off the board. The neck is lightning-fast.

If you are a new player, or play acoustic much, BEWARE the EXTRA-JUMBO frets on this bad boy. You MUST play with a very light touch. Applying any pressure at all will bend the string out of tune, and your chords will sound like crap. The frets are great for fast fingerwork, bending, tapping, etc, but they must be finessed. Being a novice, I certainly do NOT have a light, accurate touch. Thus, this guitar proved too frustrating for me, and I exchanged it for an EPI Les Paul Standard. The LP is much closer to the playability I was looking for, but the quality and looks are no match for this Schecter.

The bridge pickup was too high, so I lowered it. I kept bottoming-out the low-E. I raised the bridge pickup.

The pickup selector was a tad noisy, but no more so than anything else I've played. The selector is located in an awkward position--I kept hitting it when jamming and inadvertently changing the setting.

There were very minor finish flaws, such as a paint smudge on the binding, but make no mistake, this is the MOST BEAUTIFUL GUITAR I have EVER SEEN, regardless of price. The guys at Schecter really know how to put a lot of style into an axe while keeping the price down. For $500, you will be hard pressed to find a better-looking guitar, with hardware as quality as this Schecter's.

The Rating is mostly for the Action. I would give the Finish a 10, the Fit a 9, but the action is a heavy 5 for me.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar is very heavy, and seems to be rugged. I don't play live yet, so I don't know how it would hold up on the road or gigging. The hardware appears to be solid, good quality. I imagine the pickup selector will get smacked often, due to its placement. No problem with the strap buttons.

This guitar could be played without a backup, but having at least a $100 Squier on standby is a smart idea. The strings are not as likely to break, due to the thru-body design. The Grover tuners are solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I returned the guitar before I had to find out. I didn't get a warranty card with the guitar.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing on and off for 10 years, but not seriously until now. I also own a Fender Squier Strat, a Peavy RAGE amp, an Epiphone acoustic, and a killer DigiTech RP-100 effects processor. After returning the Schecter, I own an Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

I did ask about the jumbo frets before buying, but the sales guy didn't think it would be a problem. It was.

If it were stolen or lost, I would miss its beauty, but I would move on and look for something else.

I LOVE the looks. I HATE the extra-jumber frets. The guitar is also REALLY heavy.

To be honest, the clincher was the finish and appearance. I was looking exclusively for H/H, fixed bridge guitars, though.

It has all the features I need, I just wish it had smaller frets.

i bought the schecter c-1 pluse. It is a great guitar! I hear a lot of talk about changing the pick ups and how people have found flaws on their schecters. Well I fond a lil blemish on the back, but the laquer job on it , is better than any gibson or fender. schecter is really making a name for themselves. This is not just a guitar but a piece of art. And when you pay 500 or more, you schould look close at it. Besides the lil blemish on the back of the body , it is in mint, also put on about 10 coats of wax as soon as i got it home , now it can stand some abuse as long as i keep waxing and wiping down

Sound : 10
the sound is crisp and clear . i noticed a real quility sound compaired to my ibenez gax70. The sound is due to duncan pick ups , which are about the most expensive next to the tony iomy singnature pick ups by gibson. You dont need to change these pick ups ever! so much range from accoustic to deep crunch , you can have some real fun expermenting. you want pantera , you got it, you want slayer, thats there too. beatles , you got it! you name it , it does it !

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
action is a lil tight ,and does take about a week to really get use to it. very smooth slide with less fingure pressure do to the jumbo fretz, you will play better and hit cleaner notes due to how schecter set it up in their factory. Its like a 1000 dollar guitar !

Reliability/Durability : 10
yes it takes a beating , I smack at the strings i bend the strings ,even streach and still in tune! this guitar screams and crunches ., notes ring for a good minute , i timed it!

Customer Support : 10
bought it at guitar center and never had a problem with exchanges or trade ins.

i have been playing for over 14 years and this guitar make everything i play sound great! what i like the most about the schecter is the amout of work and all the quility parts from the duncan pick ups to the finish on the body, Get a schecter ! if you dont like it , lll buy it off you. its basically a 1000 dollar guitar

Features already documented below - essentially -
set neck, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany body with flame maple top, two Duncan Design pickups (59 ish one in neck, JB in bridge) dual volume controls + 1 tone. Tune-o-matic bridge - string thru body. Jumbo (huge) frets (24 of them). No coil tap, but the pickups are wired so you can do this later if you must.

Sound : 10
I use this with a bunch of Danelectro mini-effects (compressor, Past. overdrive, vibrato, slap echo) into a Fender Pro Junior. The pickups are hot enough to drive the amp nicely without all the stompboxes, though. I play blues/jazz - this guitar has a gibsonish tone with lots of harmonic color and warmth. Sustains forever without distortion or compression and sounds really great at low volumes and driven.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory set up is spot on, but they use .10 gauge strings. I think this guitar will sound better with .11's and will have it professionally set up in that gauge. Finish is gorgeous. I found 1 flaw - a tiny white speck near the headstock. The flame top (finished in classic burst on mine) is comparable with those found on mid-range Gibsons. Others have noticed issues on the inlays - mine are in nicely without visible filler material. Frets were nicely dressed.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar will definitely withstand live playing, but treat it carefully, as neck damage will be difficult to repair. I am going out of tune a bit - suspect that the strings are not locked on the tuners. The strap buttons appear solid but I've had the strap come off once - it will be getting a set of strap locks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I sent a question about finish care via email, which was responded to very quickly (within an hour). Otherwise, no opinion yet.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, this is the guitar I've always dreamed of owning. Generally, when shopping, I play the same material on lots of guitars and try to listen to what the guitar does to me. I felt really comfortable playing this one. I was after a humbucker blues sound and played Gibsons, Gretsch, PRS etc. and frankly probably would have dropped the big $$ for one of these had touched me. They didn't, the Schecter did.

On the frets, be advised that the jumbo frets require a *gentle* touch - otherwise, you'll bend out of tune, esp. with the light stock strings. On the bright side, it'll be a good long while before the neck needs any fret work.

Features have already been listed by previous posters. For the features it is a pretty darn good overal guitar.

Sound : 6
The humbucker's are okay to start out with. They are 'transparent' sounding.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I like the TOM bridge. I especially like the string-thru design because it improves sustain AND strings don't break as easy like on a stop-tailpiece(If you play hard the strings can jump out of the grooves and coming back can catch the sharp corner of the string saddle). The finish varies on these. I've had several models and the quality comes and goes with the flametops. I sold my Vintage sunburst one and regretted the day I did. I currently have the cherry sunburst and it's not what I expected. There is very little color transition from the out sides to the area around the pickups, etc.

Reliability/Durability : 6

Ok, I've had many different models of Schecter's guitar line-up. ALL Schecter Diamond series use substandard mounting rings! Replacements rings are almost impossible to find because They use non-standard sized rings. The humbucker rings literally crack around the base of the screws that hold the ring! It's got to be a cost cutter. I assume they think the average joe won't change humbuckers or something or will think it's normal to do that within a month. This is the only complaint I have on these.

Customer Support : 1
CUSTOMER SUPPORT? Yeah right! Bunch of jackasses. You've got to hound the dealer you bought it from to get any reaction out of em!
Schecter doesn't answer emails, period! They won't tell us where to get replacement parts, they won't send replacement rings. Over the past year I emailed them several times. I never got one damn email replied. The only thing I got was 6-8 posters with their products in the mail! They're a SELL SELL SELL company and not one who cares about the customer. If you get one make sure you have a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

Overall Rating : 7
You can't beat it for the price... Don't expect customer service to address any warranty on these things!

I bought this brand new in 2002. It has 24 large frets with a flamed beautiful red and gloss top. Very striking. Reminds me a lot of a Paul Reed Smith with the pickup design, and the carved flamed top. It has a three way selector switch with volume knobs for each of the two humbuckers and a single tone knob. I like this feature because it lets you really customize your sound. You can select between the front humbucker , the back humbucker or the two middle single coils from each humbucker. With three positions, I thought this might be limiting at first but I was really pleased and found that I didn't really need 5 or so pickup positions. It has a set neck with a a string through body. This is the feature that really brought me to the guitar to begin with. For the price it is tough to get these features. I was looking for an alternative to my Ibanez RG570 with the edge floating tremolo. I really wanted something that wasn't so sensitive to string breakage and had less moving parts and less maintanence. I'm very pleased. The only thing I miss I guess would be the cool tremolo dive bombs and the little bit of virbrato you can get with your palm. I'm not too traumatized though since thats not a huge staple of my style.

Sound : 9
I like to play rock/alt-country kind of stuff. It's derfinately more of a rock guitar which is fine with me. It's kind of hard to make a telecaster sound with it but thats what I have my ibanez for. I found the pickups to be beautiful sounding and at first listen I thought they were a little too mellow. Now I really like the sound. It's more mature and doesn't have the treble of my ibanez. I enjoy it because the humbucker still has some bite but it's not overly heavy metal sounding. The front pickup has more of a neck pickup sound that a les paul would have. The upper frets (15+) with the neck pickup just sound insane! The middle position has a sound of it's own which I enjoy very much as well. I find that this guitar sounds a lot better than my ibanez through my peavey special amp. It rocks pretty hard and has more of a classy sound to it. It seems to handle the distortion a lot nicer.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was a little higher than I was used to playing but I've come to enjoy it. The neck is thicker than I'm used to but now that my hands are stretched a little more these days I don't seem to mind it. at first everything looks pretty good and seems like everything is in shape. It seems though like there's small smudge or flaw on the very top of the fretboard under the strings I can't get to it now but it's a pretty unsightly thing that doesn't seems to kill the sound.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It's funny because this guitar looks so nice that you get a little antsy about playing it too hard and roughing it up. I am a frequent string snapper but I haven't snapped one yet on this. Time will tell. It's wise to have a backup always but it doesn't seem like you will need to use it with this one. You can probably get away with a pretty sketchy backup guitar and not have to worry. Hopefully the finish will hold up well. I forsee it getting scratched easily but thats probably just because I play pretty rough. I bought it to play it though I didn't buy it to hang it on the wall. This would looks good on a wall though if you wanted it for that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with schecter.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for about 4-5 years. This is the forth guitar I have purchased. Like I mentioned before, my previous guitar was an Ibanez RG 570 which I still like to play because it has a different feel to it. I'm dealing with a completely different kind of a guitar this time around. I like the difference in features so far. I got a good vibe about this one as soon as I played it and saw it in the store. It seems like it's really high quality and really well made. I just really love the feel of it and the sound most of all. I think it fits my personality in look and sound a lot more than the Ibanez ever did. When I bought it I compared it with a Schecter PT. I even considered getting a Fender Strat or a Tele. I played my bass player's american strat before and found it quite enjoyable. In the end though I wanted something with a more solid feel and a set neck. I really enjoy the resonance and tone from the string through body. I also looked at some models with tailpieces but ultimately I figured I should go all the way to the extreme this time and get away from the floating bridge. It's a sweet looking guitar too and I guess to a lotta people that can count for something. It looks pretty practical. A little flashy and high glossy but I'm sure some of the gloss will wear off. If it was stolen or lost I think I would probably buy a new one. Someday if I get a lotta cash somewhere I'd like to get a C-1 classic. It looks pretty much the same but is a lot more ornamental looking with fancier inlays and stuff. Maybe for something to keep around the house and just play at home to relax you know? It's a great guitar overall though and I'm very pleased so far. Please email me if you have any questions.

Korean made, 24 fret 2 humbucker guitar. I'm sure you know what it has by now. Nice basic features - although I wish the pickup selector was on the other side of the pickups for quicker switching. I got a coil tap fitted recently and that rocks - it gives a great clean sound.

Sound : 8
This suits most styles I reckon - I play mostly rock with clean bits. I use a Marshall 80w solidstate amp (I am very poor) and it works fine! Its extremely quiet, even when the coil tap is on which surprised me. This week I have been working in a guitar shop for work experience so Ive had a chance to play loads of others - it made me realise how rich the tone of this thing is. I'm not a tone freak - no-one who has been playing for only 4 years is - but I know I good sound when I hear it :) The pickups seem nice, I love the middle setting on the pickup selector, especially with a nice clean sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The action was extremely high when I bought it, it needed lowering at home. This week i've fitted some really heavy strings, and the bottom is giving a little fret buzz, I'll need to heighten it a little.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I had a problem with the tone control about 2 weeks after buying this axe. At the brightest setting the signal would randomly cut out now and again, I thought it was probably a soldering problem. Also, my stupid strap gave up on me and it landed face down on the floor! big ouch. The bridge holder thing was pushed about 2mm into the wood, something that doesnt really affect the playability or sound but is annoying nevertheless. Still, the impact was pretty big and I'm actually surprised there wasn't any real damage. The soldering problem is now fixed and it seems pretty durable - I would definitly depend upon it. I would gig without a backup, and nick someone else's guitar if it fucked up for some reason!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed customer support - the warranty is 1 year.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 4 years. I was thrown in at the gigging deep end when I started though, so I have quite a lot of live experience. If it were stolen, I would buy something cheaper as an alternative as I could not afford another 500! Maybe a Yamaha Pacifica. I wish it was a scratchplate-type top so that I could fit some little gizmos onto it but hey that's just being picky. Compared to the competition this really does come right near the top and is bettered in looks only by PRS! It really is a sch-wwiiiiingggggg to look at.

Probably made in 2001 in Korea, 21 "jumbo" frets (which I now hate), beautiful guitar with excellent finish, Dunan Designed pickups (which are similar to the Seymour Duncan '59 and JB, Grover tuners, etc...

Sound : 8
Very nice tone. I originally owned a Strat, but wanted a warmer sound. I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, but the tone was too muddy and wasn't hot enough. I took that guitar back to Guitar Center and got this instead, big improvement. Brighter than the Les Paul with more punch. The stock pickups sound darn good. The only problem is the stupid "Jumbo" frets. I hate them! Like an earlier reviewer said, these frets cause tuning problems. You have to be super gentle on the frets, otherwise the notes will go sharp. You can't push down at all. It's very annoying. In fact, I'm having mine installed with smaller frets right now. Sure it's expensive, but I think it's worth it. I love everything else about this guitar. Every guitar under $700 is going to have something that bugs you, you get what you pay for.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Again, the Jumbo frets suck. I much prefer the frets on a Strat. So I'm getting smaller frets installed on mine this week. My other option was to buy a Mexican Strat and replace all 3 pickups with Seymour Duncans and also replace the bridge (the bridges on Strats these days are cheesy), which would cost me close to $650. That would still be cheaper, but I like the look of the Schecter better. As I said before, I tried the Les Paul but didn't like it at all. Not an option.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The guitar feels very solid and well built. Would gig without a backup (although I never gig with it, it's used for recording only).

Customer Support : 8
They respond quickly to emails.

Overall Rating : 8
I'm really a bass & keyboard player. I use this guitar for home recording. I've been playing guitar for a couple of years. Other than the stupid frets, it's a great instrument.

I cant believe my eyes!! that was my first thought when I opened the case. This is a 2002 model vintage sunburst finish made in Korea. It
has 24 frets, solid top, 2 volume 1 tone control. Pickups are Duncan
designed. Body is Mahogany with a flamed maple top, which is gorgeous,
neck is maple that is stained mahogany a great match meeting both woods, head appears to be pieced on to neck, this in general makes for a stronger headstock! fully bound also. Bridge is a tuneamatic,
string thru body, grover tuners, jumbo frets, case was extra $89. but
I think it works very well with this guitar! I give it a buy.

Sound : 8
I have only been playing two years now but friends say I play more
like I have been playing for five. My style is rhythem and blues &
rock & roll. I use a crate vintage club 60 w/1 12in. celestian spkr.
I have to say the sound from these pickups make my strat. which is
American made sound bad! Seymour duncan, duncan designed, who cares
these pickups can really whale. Of course I only play at home with this instrument now so volume etc. is is set to max on guitar and
around the 4 range for amp. but @ this level sounds good to me. I use
a Boss Me33 for effects and all seem to work well together for my style.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have repaired, set up some guitars in the past year. I have a friend
who has been around guitars for over 30 years and has taught me well
on what to look for, and I will tell you this purrrrrfect! This instrument is set up by Schecter USA and the action is really low with
no fret buzz!!, playability is up there with guitars costing much much more. I might do some raising or lowering of pickups when I change strings, however that will be only experimental, To me they
sound and pickup just fine where they sit now. Frets, binding, etc.
appear to be flawless. My guitar came to me with one ding on the back
body, about the size of an eraser, but no damage to the finish. I
think probably due to handling. I hope AMS responce to this is positve! Otherwise Schecter is using a great team in Korea to build these.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Live playing---- Yes
Hardware-------- maybe a small upgrade in the future.
Finish---------- Outstanding! a great laquer job.
Dependability--- I cannot predict but outcome looks good.
Strap buttons--- Solid, but I prefer Schaller locking.
Gig w/o backup-- Suicide! at any level of play.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with! but still waiting for new catalog.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall rating, I cannot say enough. I also own a Heritage 535 which
I think the Schecter can play with. This guitar is a replacement for
a Fender Strat Amer. by fender good riddens! I would not trade this
c-1+ for any other guitar in its price range. The only feature I would
change is the strap hangers! I would have used Schaller locking. As
far as lost or stolen is concerned, Yes I definitly would replace with
same.

I bought a Schecter C1-plus with the Vintage Sunburst finish from Musician's Friend about 2 months ago. The guitar has a brilliant finish, One of the nicest finishes I've ever seen. The detailing sucks. The fret work is about as careless as you can get.. all I can say is that it didn't buzz.....sometimes. I also bought the Diamond Series molded case. PIECE OF SH*T. for the $89 I spent on the case I could of bought a descent case that wasn't so flimsy

Sound : 2
I play in a cover band that plays a wide range of music. Unfortunately, this guitar is acceptable for one type only.... high gain distortion. That is because the humbuckers are too damn muddy. On the clean side they sound like a low budget Ibanez. But then again, I paid 550 for this guitar. I own an Epiphone Les Paul Classic that cost about the same. Except the Epiphone is twice the guitar. Don't try playing this guitar straight into the amp and using a clean channel. It's like eating a bad piece of meat... you need to add some ketchup.... in this case, you better add a lot of effects and good luck. It's still going to sound like shit.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
This guitar was set up amazingly low. I like low action so that's not a bad thing. The problem is that the frets are so god-damned big. They are about twice the size of a PRS jumbo fret. Yeah, you rockers are probably digging the large frets.. but for even the simplest of tasks.. like a simple first position chord sounds out of tune if one of your fingers are pressing to hard because the frets are so big that it actually works like a tremelo and bends the string. I'll tell ya what, I'll give this guitar some credit, after playing this beast it should make you a better guitar player because of all the physical problems you have to work around.

Reliability/Durability : 2
Wouldn't stay in tune. I played this guitar out twice. By the end of each song it was out of tune. And I don't play my guitars hard. I have a very light touch.. but due to the mountainous frets.. the strings do get a lot of bending if you just press a string all the way down to the fretboard (THEY ARE REALLY THAT LARGE!!). As far as I'm concerned, a guitar that can't stay in tune isn't worth shit to me.

I returned it right before my 45 days were up. Do not waist your time and money. Yes, it is a beautiful guitar. I've heard of people calling it the poor man's PRS. But let me tell you, it's a piece of shit. I honestly think a squire would play better. If you are deadset on buying one as a steady guitar... prepare to replace the pickups, and to have the expensive task of replacing the frets.. By that time you would have doubled your cost of the guitar. Do yourself a favor and look into a high quality Epiphone Les Paul.

There are currently 40-some other reviews detailing the specs of this guitar. I think that's enough. It's nicely set up. This particular guitar came with the "Charcoal Burst" finish, which I love, and apparently is being discontinued. Figures...I love 80's metal, too, and that was discontinued as well. Bastards.

This is my first non-trem guitar in the 14 years I've been playing. Since I've removed the bars from all my other guitars, I don't miss it. I wasn't sure how this "Tune-O-Matic" thing was going to affect my pick hand positioning, but I'm happy to report it hasn't.

I do have one gripe about the "Tune-O-Matic". I've stared at it, yelled at it, even pointed a few of my guns at it...it still won't tune itself. What's up with that?

Sound : 9
I was a bit reluctant to get this guitar. I've always liked the looks of it, but regarded it as a "nu-metal" guitar, and nu-metal just makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork. I was pleasantly surprised that, unlike the nu-metallers who play these guitars, it didn't suck.

I run this guitar into a Peavey XXX head with a Lexicon rack unit in the effects loop, through a Marshall 1960. The clean sound of this guitar is really nice, as I expected it would be, playing it unplugged. The two Duncan Designed humbuckers (which I'm guessing are modeled after the JB and the '59), sound quite nice. I doubt putting real Duncans in it would change a whole lot. Then again, I have a nasty habit of swapping stock pickups for real Duncans, so we'll see.
Some PRS Dragons might sound nice, too, but there's really nothing wrong with the stock pickups.

As I said, the clean sound is really nice...not tinny, and not muddy. The guitar sounds incredible in the high gain stages of the amp, as well. Definitely not the ultra-shred of my Jacksons, but very nice, and VERY clean when picking fast.

Hmmm...I might just have to give it a......

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I like my action VERY low...a typical idiosyncracy of 80's throwback shredders like myself. The action on the C1+ was a little higher than I like, but this also adds to the nice sound of the guitar. I lowered the action to where I like it, but ended up setting it back where it was.

The finish on this thing is amazing. A really good way to judge these transparent/smoke type finishes is to take a digital picture of them. The flash brings the patterns out really nicely, which makes it easier to see factory fuck-ups. There weren't any.

Apparently, Schecter is discontinuing this finish, which is why I paid $399 and not $529 for it.

I'm not a big fan of the Les Paul/PRS style pickup selector on here. I'm much more accustomed to the strat style 3 or 5 way rocker. Since I switch from bridge to neck for solo stuff quite a bit, I do make use of the switch fairly frequently. It is positioned well, though.

Everything on this guitar was well done. The fit was good everywhere. Some people seem to be having issues with the input jack plate not fitting snugly to the body...I didn't have this problem.

NOTE: I am an anal bitch, and couldn't find any flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm quite certain this guitar will stand the test of time. It's going to have to, because my guitars take alot of inadvertent abuse. I have a 14 year old Charvel Model 4 (speaking of pickup switches I HATE!!!), which has had beer spilled on it, has fallen off the top of half-stacks, and once was thrown at a drumset (why do so many drummers play so goddamn loud?!?), and in spite of some finish flaws now, it still plays great.

I would hope the C1+ can stand up to similar abuse, although something about it makes it look very fragile...probably because it's just so damn pretty. The set neck adds to the fragility of it...once you crack or break a set neck or neck-thru, you're fucked.

NEVER GIG WITHOUT A BACKUP, MORON!

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 14 years, and this is my first decidedly non-metal/shred guitar. I'm impressed as hell. If it were lost, I'd wonder how the hell one could lose something like a guitar. If it were stolen, someone would have to die. It's an affordable guitar, and I'd probably replace it. I was considering the Jackson DKMG, and honestly it was the price drop that made me go for the Schecter.

Normally, it's fairly easy to categorize a guitar. I can look at just about any Jackson and say, "yeah, that's a metal guitar." You can look at a Les Paul and say, "yeah, that's an overpriced piece of crap with a huge unplayable neck". Finally, you can look at a B.C. Rich and say, "hi, I'm the world's biggest poseur".

The C1+ seems at first glance to be a jazz player's guitar, but the truth is, this thing would fit in just about anywhere. Cosmetically, it's a little too pretty for death metal, but then, who says you can't brand a hideous inverted crucifix into it?

Not bad, Schecter...not bad at all!

Korean Made, mahogany w. maple top, neck-thru design, etc. etc. Very basic setup, no tremolo. Although a nice feature is one volume control for each pickup. This allows you to have a nice quiet rythm sound on the neck pickup and then switch to the bridge for a screaming solo.

Sound : 7
I play classic rock and blues through a Digitech GSP 5 and a Marshall stereo rack mount amp and two ADA 2X12's. This guitar is absolutely not noisy, they did a great job potting the pickups. At first I thought that this guitar sounded very thin, and attributed that to the pickups, which everybody seems to hate (except the last couple of reviews, which I think were right on the money). So I got caught up in the pickup changing thing which I am now regretting. The original pickups really are quite good, in fact I think they were carefully chosen to complement the guitar's natural tone because I can't find any pickups that will actually sound better. Tried DiMarzio's super distortion (yuck!)and the Norton in the bridge (not bad, but not perfect). I think my problem is I'm trying to compare it too much to the sound of my strat with hotrails in the bridge, whose sound I really love. Now I think this guitar is just too light (too thin) to sound fat. I just wish the bridge pu had slightly more midrange for a fuller sound.Oh, yeah and then there's the sustain everybody's raving about. I actually expected more sustain out of this thing. The low strings sustain very well, but the high notes on the B and high E strings just seem to die when bending. I'm using light gauge strings (009) maybe I need thicker strings. This guitar has a very clean, crisp sound (with the stock pickups)and I think it would sound excellent recorded. Live, however, I still think my strat kicks it's ass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was just about perfect right out of the box. No flaws that I can tell. There was a little fret buzz, but then the action was set very low. Raised the action and that problem was gone. The finish is absolutely beautiful (black cherry) and robust, too. I've already bumped the guitar a few times into doors and cymbals and such, but can't find a mark (unlike the les paul I used to have).

Reliability/Durability : 8
Haven't tried it live, but I think it will do just fine. Guitar seems to go out of tune a lot with temperature changes. Also, I don't think the Grover tuners are all that great.

Haven't dealt with them.

Been playing for 30 years. Why did I pick this guitar? Wanted a mahogany body 2 humbucker guitar. Tried the PRS Santana, didn't like the wide-fat neck (I've got small hands). The c1+ just stood out: soooo beautiful, and well built and the neck is thin, almost TOO thin, very playable! I've owned several guitars, and this is definitely one of the most well built guitars I've owned (certainly for the price). I think if Schecter would have made the body a little thicker (for better tone) and would have forgotten about trying to make it a 24 fret neck so they could put the neck pickup back in the sweet spot, they would have a guitar that would beat anything else out there. Then maybe Gibson would have to come down in price to compete. If anyone can help me find the right pickups for this guitar, email me!

2001 Schecter C1 Plus, purchased from Guitar Center. Korean made, mahogany body, maple top (I hope, doesn't appear to be a foto flame), maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, cream binding, big ass frets, surprisingly well done abalone/mother of pearl inlays. Strings thru body, with a stop tailpiece. 2 "Duncan Design" pickups, 3 way toggle switch, 2 volume and 1 master tone control. Again, surprisingly well done dark amber sumburst finish. Quite nice overall.

I was looking for an affordable Les Paul alternative. The Guitar Player magazine shootout of under $800 guitars had some pretty nice things to say about this axe, though it didn't score the "editor's pick" award. I tried this thing thru many amps, good and bad, and had a hard time getting a sound I didn't dig. One of the cons the magazine review pointed out was a lack of single coil tones, but I wasn't looking for that. I wanted something with that Gibson-esque honk, and this guitar delivered pretty well. I tested it thru an awful Crate 2-12 combo amp, a wonderful Rivera 2-12 combo, and my Line 6 rig. I dug it each time. And no, the stock pickups aren't absolutely fantastic, but they're pretty darn good. Yes, I will probably try some others, but I could live with it the way it is. Simply put- nice fat midrange response, sensible high end (not shrill), tight low end. The bridge pickup sounds articulate and warm, the neck pickup is a little muddy (even after adjustment), but the middle position is really nice. The guitar is quite resonant and zingy unplugged.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
There's no orange peel happening, but there is some slight finish discoloration in some places near the binding. Those Guitar Center techs really don't spend too much time with the stock guitars (at least not here in Charlotte),so it was in need of a truss rod adjustment, but that was pretty much it. I'm certainly not giddy over this thing, but I'm very pleasantly surprised by the fretwork, well done inlays, better than average finishwork (overall), and a satisfying tone and weight at 7.5 pounds. I don't blame Schecter for the lame initial setup- I blame lazy guitar techs at the store. Sorry.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I do not intend to throw, ignite, drop, stomp or otherwise do anything stupid to test the integrity of this instrument. I will take it to a gig or session that calls for a Gibson-ish tone, strap it on, plug it in and play it. It feels remarkably solid, and again, resonant. If the finish falls off, the frets go flying across the room, or it spontaneously combusts, I will be quite surprised. Otherwise, it seems pretty damn solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know, don't know, don't know. I have some sort of warranty, but frankly I had spent several hours in a noisy music store and just wanted to get home, eat dinner and play guitar.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about 12 years, have had many guitars and have played lots of music. Here's where I vent a little- I've come to this site, read quite a few of these "user reviews" and come away kind of disgusted at how people use this as a forum to brag about how much they know about music and guitars, how good they are, how much something sucks- generally waste people's time to make themselves feel somehow more like real "pros in their field". Well, whoopdeedoo for you if you've played a gig and your buddies say you're the greatest. That's got nothing to do with the gear.
Anyway, having said that, this is a fine, fine guitar in my humble opinion. You get the basic woods of a Les Paul, at about half to a third of the cost of their "affordable" models. Wanna nit pick? It's got 24 frets, so the neck pickup is no longer in that sweet spot, like on a Paul. The woods are probably not choicest grade. It's mass produced in a big factory where umpteen other brands and models are slapped together with various manufacturers names stamped on them and boxed up, shipped and sold. The pickups aren't great. But the woodworking and fretjob are spot on. The guitar truly has nice, fat tone. It plays great, after minor adustment. It looks lovely, and makes me play licks off that first John Mayall/Clapton album. I paid $520, INCLUDING TAX. I have no reason to bitch, or type anymore. It's just a good guitar. Maybe it was made on a Wendnesday. Who knows?

I love this guitar. It is one beats of a guitar. it has every thing i need and sounds awsome. It is the prettiest beat i have ever seen. The finish on it is beautiful( maple vintage burst ) and the funnly bound guitar looks great. The pickups fit this guitar perfect, the emphasise all the tone that comes from that solid mahagony body. It came with grover heads. It is one sweet guitar.

Sound : 10
Before i owned this i had one guitar for metal(Br Rich Warlock) and one guitar for punk (Ibanez RG series) and i hated switching back and forth when i changed songs, and the fact that the solos just didnt have any bite, but after i played this guitar i gladly ditched the other two. This guitar can play anything i want it to...hell it would even sound good playin some brientey spears, but i dont recamend that. It is a very versatille sounding guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Considering the guitar was shipped and hadnt had a set up for a while it was awsome. The action and playability of the neck was awsome. the pickups sound just right and near perfect. I have found no problems with this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played 2 gigs with this guitar and it did awsome. It blew my other guitarists guitar out of the water. the transition from pickuop to pickuop are very clean and the volume and treble pots are perfect. I dont think i would need a back up with this guitar, well aside from a string breakin or somethin, but thats bound to happen on any guitar. but other than that i t was completely reliable.

This being my 9th year playin guitar i thought i deserved something a bit more mature. I have been playin a Warlock and an Ibanez for a while and i will admit i bought them both cause i liked the look rather than the feel, but hey i was young. And with those guitars i had gone as far as i could with them, and when i played the schecter i fell in love, not only with sound, playability and feel but with the look. I have never had less then two guitar at a time, but now all i need is this one, and i am glad i have it. If i were to lose this guitar i would definately but another one, unless i stumbled upon a couple $1000 which i would then buy a PRS or many Schecters! This is the ultimate guitar for anyone!

I've had this guitar for a little over 1 year and use it with a Korg AX1000G processor and a cheap little Peavey amp. The incredible sustain I heard (and felt) the first time playing still put's a smile on my face to this day. The pickups are a little warm for my tastes; I attribute this to the nickel covers and supposedly being similar to the real SD '59 or JB pickups. I also found picking hard to discern on the middle two strings even with lots of tweaking. Two months ago I replaced the factory pickups - a Seymour Duncan Jazz for the neck and a Seymour Duncan JB for the bridge. Wow! What a tremendous difference! Picking is now very clear, the JB roars in the bridge and the Jazz is excellent for clean sounds. The stock pickups seem to sound the same in neck or bridge. I'm still in awe at the improved sound. I was ready to ditch the Peavey amp but the new pickups might have changed my mind. I can't wait to try this guitar through a real amp. Swapping pickups is a must! But that's not all . . . I also added 3 way mini toggle switches near the control pots for going humbucking/split/parallel on each pickup. This adds tremendous versatility to the guitar. Finally, with addition of the new pickups, I was now hearing some hum and noise. I shielded the control cavity (the stock job was poorly done - a little graphite paint) with a 'nickel print' paint purchased for $6.95. Reworking a bit of wiring to eliminate the factory created groundloops has now resulted in a very quiet guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action as set from the factory was acceptable. I tweaked the pickup heights a bit. The finish only has 1 minor flaw in the clear coat; it's hard to see unless you're type A personality. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
So far the guitar has proven very reliable. I just play for fun and will never test this playing a gig. I do make a point to keep the guitar clean and oil the fretboard.

Customer Support : 8
I've contacted Schecter a few times by email with questions prior to purchase and a few after regarding the "duncan design" pickups. They eventually respond but it can take a few days.

Overall Rating : 10
I've only been playing guitar for 2 years now (but I've been a drummer for 24 years). This is my second guitar (it replaced a Jackson with Floyd Rose) and probably won't be my last. Prior to selecting this guitar, my search criteria were fixed bridge (through body preferably), humbuckers, set neck, and stained maple top. I looked a many guitars including PRS's, Gibson LP's, Dean's, Hamer's, etc. Eventually I ran across the C-1+; it was exactly what I was looking for and the price was great. I just can't see any way to justify the price of a PRS or LP. In fact the fretboard inlays on my guitar are better done than on many PRSs and LPs I've seen; these had a lot of black filler around the inlay suggesting sloppy work. If every lost or stolen or broken, I'd first cry then immediately go buy another one. In fact I'm contemplating buying a second for the future in case they discontinue it someday. Excellent guitar!

2001, Korean made model, with 24 extra-jumbo frets. Control layout includes a 3-way selector, with one volume and two tone knobs. It's equipped with two Duncan Designed humbuckers, replicating the JB and the '59. The body is mahogany with a flamed maple top. Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard (vector inlays beautifully accented with abalone). Finished in a transparent "Vintage Burst", with creme binding on the body, neck, and headstock. Tune-O-Matic bridge with a unique string-thru design. Grover tuners. 24 3/4" scale neck, which reminds me of a highly improved Gibson neck, but not as thick. A gig bag, labelled "Schecter Diamond Series" was included.

Sound : 10
The combined elements of this guitar make for an unbelievable sound! I also own an ESP LTD H-200, with Duncan Designed 'buckers, and this guitar screams three times as much as the ESP. My musical tastes vary, which is no problem for this guitar... versatility is not an issue.

As for the sounds on all three settings, all I can say is imagine the tones that you SHOULD get from humbuckers, the tones that you expect... and this guitar will give them. I'm using Crate amps with a DigiTech RP-100 processor, so there's no sound I can't get.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
If you expect intonation to be perfect from the factory, and then to survive shipment, as well as survive however many hands were on it before yours... I'm sorry, but you're a fool. However, the set-up in this case was the best I've ever seen in my 16 years of playing. I only had to adjust the G string (no pun intended). I've had the guitar for a little more than a month and I still can't find any flaws, and believe me... I'm very picky.

From the moment I took it for a test-drive to today the action has remained "perfect".

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has, indeed, survived live playing, without fail. The only reason I brought my ESP along was because I needed a second guitar tuned down 1/2-step to switch back and forth with. If all of our songs were in standard tuning, I would definitely use it without a backup.

There's nothing that makes me question the stability of the guitar's construction. My straps will wear out before the buttons do.

Customer Support : 10
I did have one little question about the nut and string gauge set-up, used the website's "Contact Us" link and had a reply within TWO HOURS!!! I thought of another question later, and yet again, had my reply within TWO HOURS! They were extremely polite and helpful. I was highly impressed with the speed of their response. That shows me that Schecter, disregarding their tremendous growth in popularity, still cares about the customer.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 16 years and have never before found a guitar that fits me so well. It's beautiful, comfortable, and can scream like a banshee. I absolutely love everything about it. I especially liked the fact that it's affordable! I still don't understand how companies like Fender, Gibson, and others consider $1,000 and up "affordable". I also played the C-1, which was selling for $419. If you want a high quality guitar that is TRULY affordable... Schecter is the way to go.

I am in shock. I cannot believe how rich the sound is. Great for new and old rock, country, jazz or whatever. I use a Mesa Boogie Single rectifier and some very light effects. My set up is pure quality and this guitar sounds as good or better that most of my other guitars. Tone is everything to me and I am soooo sasified with this one. I do not plan on changing the p/u's they are plenty hot. THE SUSTAIN is way better than expected....

I play 10 gage strings so a little setup work was needed. Action was set to low. From the factory action was less than .010 at the 8th fret and p/u's were to low. I've read neg responce about these p/u's.... Make sure they are 5/64th at the screw depressing the last fret. and they should sound magical. Finish is blk/cherry very nice. no flaws. Volume knob a little tight, overall action after tweeking is outstanding.

You can read all the details on the other reviews. The only difficulty so far was minor. It was setting the intonation since the strings come thru the body and sort of cover the int. screws. It took a little while longer to set, that's all. The int. had to be reset only because I had it set up for heavier gage strings. String ferrules will fall out of the back of the guitar when you change strings. Again, minor stuff. Made in Korea. I'd say that Korea has made great strides in building guitars in the last few years. It's as well made as any American made guitar. Especially in it's price range. Better than some I've played.

Sound : 10
I play with a Pod thru effects loop on a Fender evil twin. The clean channel on the twin is dedicated to the Pod and the dirty ch. is for playing straight thru the amp This combo seems to work really well. The Duncan pups sound excellent clean but they really shine when you kick it into overdrive. Hotter than a LP. Excellent dynamic range. In fact, a friend of mine has a sweet LP and he's ready to buy a C1+. Long story short - unbelievable tone for the price, or any price for that matter. It has become my favorite axe very quickly. I feel very comfortable playing any style of music on it. It handles the modern rock covers and the few classic rock tunes that we do very easily.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The fit and finish are beautiful. Love at first sight. Binding is perfect and the vector fb inlays are cool as s. I had to have it set up by my guitar tech. But I always do that anyway. It did have a few buzzes out of the box. But the tech was able to eliminate these and still keep the action very low, as I like it. The neck is similar to a PRS wide/thin neck, which fits my hands perfectly. In short, very easy to play.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have been playing it almost exclusively since I got it about 6 months ago and she's breaking in nicely. Very solid without feeling too heavy. I don't foresee any problems since this is a very well made guitar. And I play hard. I plan on using it as my main guitar for live playing (current band in formative stage).

Never dealt with them. Hope I don't have to since that would mean no problems.

Playing 30 some years, on and off. Tons of equipment. I bought this guitar on a lark. It looked so beautiful. And I've always like Schecters. It was a scratch and dent special (the defect was a small chip about an inch long on the top by the binding where your arm comes over the top) on musiciansfriend.com for $429. So I bought it on an impulse. I figured for that price, if I didn't like it, I could always sell it or give it to one of my kids. Surprise! My other HB electrics are collecting dust. I absolutely love it. It's like they mated a LP with a PRS (I have both) and cut the price by more than half. The unblemished ones sell for about $529 and it is as good as or better than guitars costing twice as much. If it was stolen, I would buy another right away. I always thought that companies could make a good product for less money and Schecter has proven this. I highly recommend it.

2001 C1+ LH (left-handed), charcoal burst finish. Absolutely beautiful, by the way. Standard C1+ hardware, no fancy stuff, just a solid guitar. Bought a generic SKB hsc and it fits well in there.

I have been playing for over 15 years, and have had a ton of gear. This is my favorite guitar that I have owned, and I prefer it to my Gibsons, Ibanez, etc. I have had this guitar for almost a year now, and I love to play it every day. The pickups, as many have noted, are flat and lack distinction. Can't really blame Schecter for this, since the guitar only retails for around $550.oo; I will be putting a couple new P/Us in there shortly. (It seems the electronics are well shielded, however, since I get virtually no hum even under high gain/volumes.) I play through a Mesa DC-5 or Studio 22+, no fx except a Morley wah, with either lots of gain or super clean. I love this guitar because it feels very solid like a Gibson, but is more playable. To me the neck feels a bit more like a shredder guitar, a bit less bulky, but with the nice woody, organic Gibson sound. By the way, I play a lot of different styles of music with this guitar, from Melvins/Black Sabbath-style stuff to fingerpicking Zep tunes and classical. With the right pickups the guitar would do fine with all of it, and would have been a 9 or 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Everything was set up very well on this guitar. Good action, no dead spots, no buzzing even on dropped D tuning, proper intonation. I will be taking it in soon for a check-up though. It is time for a couple new pickups and a general tune-up. Better than I expected for the price of the guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing is as solid as any guitar. Neck-through, solid design, yet not as heavy as my Les Paul. My shoulder doesn't hurt after an hour like with the LP. I would easily use this on stage without a backup, but then again, I have rarely broken a string by playing too hard.

Overall Rating : 9
I would definitely buy another Schecter. I love my Ibanez S series, but it is not a dark enough sound. My Gibson SG and Les Paul sound unreal, but I do not find them comfortable to play. The C1+ has been the best of both; playable with nice tone (still needs new pickups tho). I have sold a lot of equipment over the years, but I think I will hold on to this guitar. I almost bought an ESP instead of this one. I still want to get an ESP, but I will keep this too. Way too many cool guitars out there...

Gawd....what else is there to say about this guitar that no one else has? Unbelievable finish though....makes my jaw drop each time I look at it(I got the Black cherry finish)

Sound : 8
I play mostly dirge-metal/grind/and some punk and I find that though this guitar is really well built and very playable, the pick ups are very thin sounding for my liking. The neck pick up is very warm but the bridge pick-up is very weak sounding. So other then the pick-ups,this guitar is an incredible value for under 600$.It has great sustain and always stays in tune due to the presence of Grovers. Some fret buzz on the 1st and 2nd frets.Sounds incredible otherwise though. Can't beat the price and quality of this thing compared to most guitars out there. But I recommend you replace the bridge pick up if you want a thicker sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar should have been attached to my body concearning how well it plays....I could probably fall asleep while playing this thing! Adjustments are always a personal preference but I found that raising the bridge would eliminate fret buzz..but other then that..awesome!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I would use this guitar as a hammer

Customer Support : 8
Ive only had it for a month, but it does have a lifetime warranty..so I guess I will find out sooner or later..but it gets an 8 for the warranty

Overall Rating : 8
Well I have been playing for 6 years and my dream guitar is a Les Paul, but for the price, this is a very nice guitar. You may have to make some adjustments(such as replacing the paper-thin bridge pick-up)but other than that it has most everything you need in a solid body guitar.I put a Dimarzio Super-Distortion in the bridge and now it's a dream to play. But always try it out before you buy it.But to sum everything up,Great guitar...bad pick ups..put a high output pick up in the bridge and your all set

Made in the late 90's probably, in korea. 24 frets. 2 volume 1 tone. h/h duncan design pickups. tune o matic bridge. non locking tuners from grover. nice inlays.

Sound : 7
i play emo/pop punk/punk stuff, so i need a relatively versitile guitar, that does both clean and dirty good, and can get different sounds from the pickups. this guitar does pretty well. it's not the best i've ever seen heard or played by far but for the money, it's just fine. the tone control doesn't do alot for me on my amp, which is a crate gfx65, but when i took it to the store and tried out some nicer amps, it did wonders. this guitar has nice bottom end, not too much, not too little, certainly no les paul.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
this guitar needs a set up i've had it for about 8 months, the action is alright, but everytime i change the strings and raise or lower the bridge, wheenver i go to tighten the strings, i usaully end up bumping my settings on the bridge, so that is a pain, but i think it's prolly like that w/most tune o matic bridges. the top isn't perfectly book matched, but still, it's awesome. it's charcaoal grey, but reflects shades of deep blue and dark purple. it's tiger striped sorta like a prs. for a while i thought that the tuner for the g string was bad, but i just needed new strings, but the tech did file the nut some, but otherwise it's fine. the screws are strarting to show a bit of rust, and the plastic part around the pickups for the neck pickup has a crack in it, which is really stupid, but it doesn't affect nething, and u can't see it unless u r looking for it.

Reliability/Durability : 7
this guitar seems really solid. it's fallen off it's stand many times, and the only dent it has in it is b/c i got pissed and as i was walkin thru a door way it hit the door way, i even hit the wall with the head stock and nothing happened. my biggest complaint here is that the strap button at the top part of the body pulled out a bit ago. i rescrewed it in, and it was still wobbly, then at practice it came out, and i glued it in, and it came out again. i had to drill a hole at a diff angle, but it works fine now. i think i remember awhile ago when the pickups were screwy, and not much sound came out...but it's fine now. i go betweenthis guitar and my peavey nitro 3, just sometiems it's nice to have a change of guitars. i would gig without a backup if i had no choice, and i do trust this guitar, but i will still gig with a backup b/c i have that option.

i've been playing for...1 and a half years, i also own a peavey nitro 3, an epiphone acoustic aj-15, a peavey backstage 30 amp, and a crate gfx-65 amp. i am upgrading to a marshall jcm 800/900 head, and a 1960A cab. i wish i had this guitar set up before i bought it, it's not horribly in need of one, but it'd be nice. if it was stolen or lost, i would save and get a gibson sg special just because i think it is more of the sound i am going after right now, but if i only had 544 dollars, then i'd buy this one. i love the way it looks, i hate how i can't write songs, but that isn't dealing with the guitar. this guitar is so much better than any ibanez's in it's price range and probably alot of other guitars above it's price. for the money you can't beat it. i wish it had better pickups, but they are alrigth for now. i bought an epiphone lp custom before this, and it had problems with its' pikcups not workign at all so i returned it and i've had my bad experience w/epi now so i will prolly stay away from them.

24 frets, obviously very nice. Hardtail, also very nice. Tremelos really aren't worth the effort that's required to maintain the instrument. As for tone and volume controls, it lacks really very little as far as I'm concerned. It has 2 pickups, the only thing that could be asked is that you could send each pickup into single coil mode. Other than that, very nice.

Sound : 9
I have to say, when I played it in Guitar Center through a Marshall I wasn't overly impressed, but I know that's just a set of pickups away from change. I mostly record, so when I got it home I ran it through my rig and, the gods smiled upon me. Love the tone. It's a taste issue. Also I have a tube Dean Markley K-50 I ran it through clean and with processing, fantastic in either situation.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action was perfect. The more I play it the more I love it. Fit and finish are perfect also.

Durability gets a 10 so far. I'll explain more on this in the overall section.

I've been playing for 18 years. I play anything from jazz to folk to metal. I have an Ash Strat with an HS-3 in the bridge position, Ovation CS257 and a few other guitars. I needed a good chunky recording guitar. I purchased an S470 Ibanez. The action was ok and the Axis pickups were OK...EVO's were on the way. To make a long story short the S470 did not live up to my standards. It found it's way back to GC. I got the C1+ as a replacement. All I have to say is this guitar is awesome. Great tone, great feel, feels solid and at a great price. The more I play it the more I appreciate it. If it were stolen I'd move to a better neighborhood and then purchase another one. Bad joke. Really, I've had a lot of nice guitars and the C1+ has everything I like in a guitar, which to date I've not yet to find in any other elctric, PRS and Fender included. After reading these reviews I amazed to hear my initial thoughts about it: The perfect mix between a PRS and an LP. Very well done.

2001 model, mahogany body w/a flamed maple top. My particular guitar is the Charcole burst version although the cherry model is version is very nice. H/H pick-up configuration with duncun design passive pick-ups. Two tone controls and one volume. 24 3/4 inch scaled neck which I would consider medium thickness. Grover tuners w/ a tune-o-matic string through bridge. Real nice if you are tired of the ole' floyd rose crap. String change outs are a breeze.

Sound : 5
I have only been playing for about two years. However I spent 6 months researching guitars before I actually made the buy. I play mostly mainstream rock, metal, and some blues through a Crate Blue Voodoo half-stack. This guitar sounds adequate. (very flat tone)Unless you invest in a decent set of pick-ups. The same day I bought mine I picked up a Dimarzio PAF for the neck and a Super distortion for the neck. Now it rocks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar is by far the most beautiful for the money. I really can't say enough about that. Really, if you have Les Paul or PRS money then why are you even reading this? For us "Poe Foke" for 500 bucks your not going to find a guitar that looks this good. The action and intonation required no adjustment. the only thing that was wrong was a couple of the tuners needed tightening.

Korean-made (thankfully a sticker you can take off) C-1+.
Finish: Charcoal burst
Features are what I was looking for when I got it. The only thing I'd change is to put locking tuners on it, but that's just my personal preference.

Sound : 10
I'm set up for recording (guitar->POD->Tascam 788->monitors) so I can't say how it sounds with an amp. I really, really like the tone of this guitar, especially for overdriven and hard rock (not metal) tones. It will sing if you work the notes right.

I may replace the pickups but if I do that I'm going to go for pure tone, not output, so I'm still looking for the right pups to use

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was perfect right out of the box. The top is matched well and all routing/cuts look to be just fine.

I was disappointed in the charcoal burst finish. it turned out to be very muddy, like they overapplied the stain. Still, like someone else said, it's the poor man's PRS.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It seems to be tough. One thing I've noticed is that the neck, being mahogany, is kind of soft. I can do suicide neck bends with much less pressure than on my strat or ibanez guitars. This worries me for the future of this guitar.

It's definitely a workhorse with superior tone. If I were going on tour, I'd take about 5 of these and a couple of strats - I wouldn't need anything else.

Basically a Schecter Les Paul--I'm using it through a Lab Series L-5,
which is pretty much set the same all the time,VERY minor tweaks
between even vastly different guitars, say,a 335 and a Tele...
other instruments have higher highs or lower lows, that being the idea behind having a variety....having said THAT----the Schecter has
that mahogany/'bucker thang going, middy but not muddy, nice squeaky
highs over that...turn the tone down and it will jazz very well,
flip to the bridge and grunge/rock all ya wanna....
overall it's-----well,MUSICAL. An instrument,not a weapon.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Very impressive!Haven't changed anything but strings. The top is
nicely matched, the inlays are better than my '78 LP--binding and

I took it out of the case and gave it hell from the git-go,with good
results.Broke a .010 the second or third day of blues/rock stretching,
but show me a tune-o-matic that doesn't...deal with it.Otherwise dependable.Having a backup is just policy, when you work for a living.

Here's the rub.This guitar has 1 volume and 2 tones...fine.
The website shows a wiring diagram w/2 volume and 1 tone.
I e-mailed them,explained that,and got a quick but useless stock
reply...'it's on the website,dude...'....right.Luckily,the guys
@ the store where it was purchased[Big Dude's,Kansas City]were
very helpful--I mailed them, and and got a quick reply, saying they
had been in touch with Schecter, and that they[Schecter]would fax
the diagram to me---time passes, and no info.I'm over two hour's drive
from KC,so I faxed Dude's a copy of the receipt, and the NEXT DAY
they call me back,conference-call the guy at Schecter, and I explain the deal(for the 3rd time,now)....so he makes us wait while he checks
HIS OWN WEBSITE,and sure enough,duh! it's DIFFERENT!
Okay,they dropped the ball,but recovered.....next day,I received a
HAND-DRAWN diagram from Schecter, with an apology(!!).Bottom line is,
it's about the money,as usual.They didn't notice an individual w/a
problem,but when a dealer that means $bucks$ gets involved,suddenly
you have their full attention...(insert cynical tone HERE!)
I'm giving Customer Support a neutral'5'...you can see why.

when changing strings.A solid guitar at a fair price.Write me for a

Average sound. Not particularly hot enough enough for my tastes. A little "muffled" sounding. I have 2 amp set-ups. One is a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier head w/cabinet. The other is a Line 6 Flextone 2x12 combo. I couldn't get a "quality" tone thru either.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Again...average. I've owned several Korean made guitars over the years and this is no better than any of the others. They say these are set-up in California, but it didn't seem to help the action, fit, or finish in any way. I prefer Jackson and Ibanez when it comes to the cheaper Korean guitars.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Haven't had it long enough to have an opinion here.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED. Believe it or not, this is the short version of the story. Seems they set up some guy to sell their guitars out of his house without knowing he didn't own a store. I didn't know it either because I bought it online thru a web site. Anyway, I bought it "brand new" and when I received it, it had a blemish in the paint...one that would affect the value and possibly keep someone else from even wanting to buy it if I ever decided to sell it. So, after getting NOWHERE with the seller, I appealed to the maker - Schecter - for some help. I figured, heck they put some guy in business selling out of his garage, they should have take responsibility for the 3 measly guitars they sold him. I got ZERO sympathy or help from this company. They completely snubbed their snotty little noses at me. The National Sales Manager even made a statement like, "...that's no fu***n' excuse!" Very poor customer relations. Honestly, I was courteous in every way. Heck, I was trying to get them to help me...so I definitely wasn't rude in anyway. I've learned over the years...when you want somebody else's help, you better be nice about it. Anyway, all I wanted to do was trade the flawed guitar for a new one. They wouldn't do it. I think there are only about 5 employees that work for the entire company...including the President whom I also talked to. They don't even have a receptionist. This is a second rate company without a doubt. Good luck to you if you ever have a problem with your guitar.

Overall Rating : 4
This company has very poor customer relations as I stated earlier. However, being totally objective and only considering the guitar itself...it's still average. There are definitely other guitars in this price range that are better and will hold their value better. Consider Jackson or Ibanez. Or, email me...I'll sell mine CHEAP!!!

2001, made in Korea. Has 24 frets. The top is flame maple over a mahogany body, although due to the fact that it has body binding, it is very hard to tell exactly how thick the maple is. It has a Duncan-design JB in the bridge and a Duncan-design '59 in the neck. The Schecter website specifies that the control layout is supposed to be a bridge volume, a neck volume, and a master tone, but mine has a master volume and a separate tone control for each pickup. I'm assuming that Schecter changed the specs, as it's hard to believe this could be a simple screw up. It also has a 3-way switch for the pickups. Passive electronics. Set-in maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard. Finish is charcoal burst, a glossy, transparent gray which fades to black at the edges. The body style is hard to describe...it's sort of like a cross between a Strat and a Les Paul, with a double cutaway. Sort of reminiscent of a PRS, though not the same. Bridge is a tune-o-matic with the strings going through the body instead of into a stop-tailpiece. Grover tuners with big fat heads on them. Came with a cheezy cable and an allen wrench for the truss rod. Lots of nice features, especially for the price.

Sound : 9
This guitar sounds very good as is. Being a long-time Ibanez user, the thing that stands out to me the most is the amount of sustain this guitar has. Bolt-on necks and floating bridges really take a lot away. Pick a note and you can hold it seemingly forever. The pickups are loud without being noisy. I have no more problems with feedback than I have with any other guitar. The sound is definitely full and bassy, sort of like what you would get from a Les Paul, but with more punch. On one hand I like the simplicity you get with two pickups and three settings; on the other, I kind of miss those in between single coil sounds I could get with my Ibanezes. Still, for hard, heavy music with occasional clean passages (the style I play), this guitar is great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have bought guitars from Korea before, and they tend to be very well made. This one is no exception. I can't find a single bad fret or dead spot on the neck, one of the biggest problems I have with guitars. The finish is beautiful, the binding very nice, the fretwork excellent. I changed string gauges when I got the guitar (it came strung with .010's) and intonated it very easily. The pickup height and action required some minor adjustment. Total set up time for me from unwrapping to using at band rehearsal was about an hour including the string change, not bad at all. The one complaint I have is that the neck pickup angles out of the body at a slightly strange angle; however, as I haven't seen another C-1 Plus yet, I don't know if this is intentional or not. I took the pickup out and it appears that this is how the wood was routed, so maybe it's supposed to be like that.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I bought this guitar specifically for live playing. I was sick of having to bring three guitars with floating bridges to gigs in order to play songs in different tunings. With this guitar, that's over. Seems very durable and reliable. If you play a gig without a backup guitar no matter what guitar you're using, you're asking for trouble, but if I had to, I would.

Customer Support : 7
I emailed Schecter about getting the wiring diagram for the guitar. They got back to me promptly, which is good, but told me that it would be up on the site "soon," without giving me a time frame. So, I'm giving it a so-so grade. The warranty is "limited lifetime."

Overall Rating : 10
I think I pretty much covered everything. This is an excellent guitar for the price. If you're looking for a Les Paul sound with a lighter, cleaner, more modern look and feel and at the fraction of the cost, check this guitar out.

Year 2000, Korean-made electric guitar. 24.75" scale, 24 jumbo frets, mahogany body, flame maple top, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 3 x 3 tilt back headstock, two Duncan Designed humbuckers, set neck design, string-thru body with tune-o-matic bridge, chrome hardware and pickup plates, two volume and one tone knob, three way pickup selector, Grover tuners, creme binding on body, neck and headstock, came with a cheap cable and one allen wrench.

This guitar is very beautiful. Has very classy features for its price range. A visually stunning guitar; not as good as Paul Reed Smith finishes (what is?) but very good nontheless. Available in 4 finishes: charcoal burst (very transparent black burst), black cherry (wine red burst), vintage sunburst, and cherry sunburst. I have seen the first three finishes in person and they are equally gorgeous thanks to the flame maple. Has the texture, colors, and appeal ofgazing into a beautiful woman's eyes. Or a man if you're into that kind of thing. The abalone "vector" inlays are remarkable; no photograph can articulate their detail...See this guitar in person to get the full affect.

I bought this guitar because of its features. My previous guitar was an Ibanez RG470. It was a great guitar, and held up over time, but eventually I discovered what I liked in a guitar, and bought this one. I got a refurbished one for cheap. The stock pickups are okay, I've played much worse. I hope to change them in the future, but right now I'm satisfied. They're of two very distinct flavors, which I'll go into in the Sound category. My one problem with the features is the fact that it has two volume and one tone knob, as opposed to two tones and one volume that most three-knob guitars (strats mostly) have. At first it didn't bother, I felt it a welcome change and hoped it would give me different tonal options. Later I discovered that whenever I switch pickups I also change tone to suit them (also discussed in Sound), and I rarely change the volume. That's my amplifier's job. I personally like really wide and flat necks, but the neck on this one isn't uncomfortable. Similar to that of a Les Paul, I think.

My grading system is as follows: 5 is an average score. It's neither good nor bad, it's just regular. All scores start off at 5 and I add or subtract points due to flaws or bonuses. For the flame maple, the pickups, the inlays, and the general fine appearance of this guitar, it gets a 7, but the knob weirdness brings it back to 6. But don't worry, 6 is good! It's above average!

Sound : 7
This guitar is currently being run through a Mesa/Boogie Nomad 212. Sometimes, an effect will be thrown in, but that's not often. It's not noisy at all as long as you keep your distance from the amp, which is standard among all guitars. Talking about tone is very difficult, but I'll do my best. Firstly, I believe that half of your tone comes from your amp. If your amp sounds bad, your guitar will sound bad. It's a zany tag-team effort. With my amplifier, it sounds spectacular, probably better than it's supposed to. I play a variety of music from surf rock to jazz to blues to whatever, but my songwriting focus is on experimental hard rock, incorporating various styles to acheive a great musical atmosphere. This guitar is my workign axe until I get a Parker Fly, which will take quite a while. The neck pickup has pronounced lows with present but mild highs. The bridge pickup eases up and gives a biting midrange, with a lot of attack. Even though they're stock, I'll keep them around until I feel I need a change. The bridge isn't quacky like some stocks get, it's very pronounced. Me gusta! I use the bridge pickup on full volume and tone for heavy distortion riffing. I use the neck pickup with tone all the way down and volume all the way up for smooth sustained leads or tone 75% for clean chording. The combination of the two can be blended for specifics, i.e. fingerpicking, classical stuff, or chording as well. The combination lacks harmonics completely, the bridge has the most, and the neck has inbetween. Sometimes I can't tell if this guitar is versatile, or my amp is. I can acheive most genres that come to mind. It's like a workhorse, it's not a work of art or an abusal guitar, it just cranks out tunes for you. Schecter's focus right now seems to be on the heavy rock market, so I'm sure this guitar was intended for that purpose. I've played Les Pauls and Fenders that didn't really do anything for me. It's got a similar feel to a Les.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The action is alright, perhaps a little too low, but action can always be changed. I bought this guitar refurbished, so there is a slight finish flaw (chip on the side of the neck where it meets the body--barely noticeable). The tone knob is a little dirty when you start turning it counter-clockwise, but that happened over time. Everything else is in check; playable right out of the box.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar has, will, and can withstand live action. Sturdy like a guitar should be; I have a lot faith in this one. I would gig without a backup with no second thoughts. The RG470 I used to use was obnoxious when changing strings because of the Floyd Rose and locking nut, but I have no problems with the C-1+. The grounding cable inside of the input jack got cut mysteriously, but Schecter left a nice tied-together slack of extra cable inside the electrical compartment, obviously prepared for that kind of problem. Problem was solved with $10 in two days. Gets a 7 because she's tough.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I emailed Schecter once before I bought this guitar to ask if they had a catalog. They never replied. However, a while later they printed one, so maybe they were listening. I've never had experience with them so this category is null.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for three years. It's all good. If it were lost or stolen, I'm not sure what I'd do. I'm not active right now in terms of gigging and actively being in a band, so I wouldn't need it per se, however I don't have another playable axe, so I'd have to get something. Perhaps I'd buy a used Gibson or something, I double cut away Les Paul. They both have similar feels so the transition would be fine. It's not that this guitar has problems and I don't like it. I'm not sure. I don't think I could find a guitar as cheap as this one was with as much quality as it has, but I could always step up. I love this girl's style, her playability. Seeing her makes you smile, and be glad that you have it. Pickups can be changed, action can be reset, but the knob setup is the only thing that irks me. It's not too important though. Thanks to the 10 year old Korean kids you can get this guitar for cheap and have it equate that of a Les Paul Studio or higher. Raises a lot of questions on child labor, no? I bought this over the normal C-1 (a step below) and the C-1 Elite (a step above). The C-1 would be flat-out regressing equipment-wise, and the Elite was just...not what I was looking for. It has abalone binding (yuck), only 1 volume and 1 tone, a longer scale (not so bad), bad inlays, and only one finish option. The + just seemed nicer--and cheaper too.

The Schecter C-1+ in summary: a great value guitar to stand by you until you get the guitar of your dreams.

BaDUM-cshhhh.

I purchased The C1 after Seeing Jerry Horton (pApa roACh) Play his at the warped tour in S.F. I was blown away on how slick the Guitar looked especially the string through design. The guitar is 80% to perfection. I really couldn't stand the cheesy "Duncan Design" pick-ups they had, so I replaced them with Seymour Duncan (Duncan Distortion & The Jazz Model) What a Freaken Difference man!!! I also had the action adjusted the bridge during string replacement can easily be tweaked by mistake causing the buzzing effect on the frets. I play this master piece through a Marshall EL/34 100 Rack Head & use an ADA for the effects along with a Sonic Maximizer & a Rocktron Hush. I compare this guitar after slight adjustments to a PRS Custom with Dragon two's. My Friend plays them & for the price he payed $2,238, I could have purchased 4 C1's easily. all c-1 plus models have the same features as the next except for finished colors, which there are three to choose from.there is a mile of the c-1plus reviews so i dont thing any one wants to read the specs again, cause i didnnt. sorry. initially i was very impressed with the overall appearance of the guitar. however i didnt feel to comfortable with the string through design. i felt that the usual two piece design(gibson style) would suit this guitar much better. thats just me... everyone is different.i felt i would have problems breaking srtings with this one piece tune o matic set up. especially at the steep angle that the strings are at, as they pass through the body and rest on the metal inserts.that was actually my main cocearn at time of purchase. i do break stings.but i do play pretty hard.they break just as frequently as when i played my strat, gibson,or any other of my friends guitars that i break their strings.(they hate that).i still would prefer the two piece bridge set up anyways.(a wammy bar(any one)would of been so bitchen.shcecter does make this same body style with a floyd rose of some kind but it is a bolt on neck and doesnt come with the same woods or top or fret inlays . i give this section an 8 only because of the string through design and no whammy bar or i would have given it a 10. i dont care how much sustain its purpose is for,im not to fond of this design, even though i have become acustomed too it.it was awkward at first.in the end just before leaving the store, i felt this charchol grey burst(which actually looks purple burst through my eyes)was such a beautiful piece i just had to have her.it was my second or even third visit to the store before i bought it.as she was on my mind alot and i wasnt quite sure how to get funds for this guitar that was priced very pocket friendly...i just hadnt any pockets on my pants.

Sound : 1
i did try the guitar out at the store. every thing usually sounds great at the stores when you play solo. for some odd reason when you get home or jam with friends thats when you really hear what you got.a lot of the times it sounds different than what you remembered at place of purchase no matter where you buy it from.thats why the big companys offer 30 day guarantees.U-NO-LIKE,BRING IT BACK.well the duncan-design pick ups sucked really bad. i actually had no personal amp at the time. i did run it through a marshall,a rolland, both had 4 twelves.didnt like the pick ups one bit. they seem to feed back alot on gainy channels or stomp boxes.i was in the market for a rock-metal type sounding type guitar. thats what i mostly like playing, but i do play other styles as well.the sound i was getting for playing metal was just nasty as some one else has mentioned.on the same token if any one is into jazz or clean blues these pickups are descent sounding for these applications. but i still recommend quallity after market pickups.than again everyones ears are different in what they hear.i eventually got a hold of a fender princeton 1-12-plus(65 watts).sorry but for these ears and my style the duncan-designs had to go.i had EMG'S put in my guitar.boy what a differace. i had attended the NAMM show this year(2000-2001).i had no idea SHECTER was so big cause they had their own boothe. i mentioned to one of the rep.s at the SHECTER boothe that i bought one of thier guitars. he asked which one and i said the c-1-plus. he said oh cool.i told him i put EMG'S in it. he said oh really. than he called over to some guy and stated to this person what i said to the rep. this person turned out to be the CEO of the SHECTER guitar co. i thought that was just way cool. the CEO asked me where i bought the guitar from and i said SAM ASH MUSIC CO. he said great. i than looked up on a wall to the right of me and saw my c-1-plus hanging there. my guitar on display at the NAMM show. anyways back to the sound. the EMG'S have made my guitar much happier.now the brightness or thinner sounding guitar that people are talking about including me, i believe is not the pick ups. i dont think its the thinner wood either. one of my friends once bought a GIBSON LES PAUL which had a rare maple neck instead of mahogany. you could actually see the maple color on the back of neck. he complained that the guitar sounded too bright compaired to other LES PAULS with mahogany necks.i feel that the same is true here with the c-1-plus.having a maple top to begin with is bright.and like the standard LES PAULS the mahogany neck balances well.with the maple neck on the c-1-plus the guitar is that much brighter.wood is a major factor in guitar tone. the pickup amplifies(electronically speaking) the tones of the woods in the guitar, includeing the neck woods.i too find my c-1-plus is still a little to bright for me,and i have installed high quality pick ups.other than that i have mucho sustiano with my KIRK HAMMETT EMG'S . one in the bridge pos. and one in the neck pos.i definately think its time for a LINE-6 amp of some sort. that will be my next venture and my next true test on my guitar pick-up combo. than i will be back to up date this review and let you guys in on my own guitar research. i give the sound (for my ears and style)a 1-rating. that is the stock pick ups only.(on the clean channel it should get a 4-5 rateing, again everyone is differnt.i dont think SHECTER planned on making this guitar a hard rock guitar, eventhough i thoght it looked like one. thats what i wanted. to my ears it seems as if this guitar is more of a jazz-rock,or mellow blues guitar. i think its great for that.it kind of has that vintage thin hollow-body sound.eventhough its solid body guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
action was set a little high from factory, and when i got my first string change the tech, took care of that.i hear GROVER tuners are good tuners, but mine seem to come out of tune quite a bit.my maple tops were not bookmatched as equally as i first thought but thats allright shes still beautifull.on the dirty channels, with and without the pick-up change, there seems to be a great amount of hum when i stop playing. someone mentioned that the nut at the neck was glued improperly.i think what they meant was that the height of the nut drops or slants down on high strings.i think that there is a good reason for this, that manufactureing or engineering it this way was its best benifit. i too noticed this funky, slanted looking nut. and when i went to the NAMM (2000-2001)show and saw that the c-1-plus that was hanging on the wall at the SHECTER boothe ,it too had the funky-slanted nut.i took that as being the standard-norm for this guitar for whatever reason. these guitars have such nice finishes.when i bought mine i was looking to buy a metal style guitar but couldnt find one iliked(color, appeal, etc)that was in a decsent price range. i could of got another GIBSON or FENDER but i already had owned these guitars.the c-1-plus was a lot nicer looking guitar, cheaper too for the quality on finish and fretboard inlays,arch-top woods, and neck, body, and headstock binding is just excellent.for the price you really cant go wrong.i picked up some volume knobs at the NAMM show that are chrome and nurled just like the stock ones, but these ones have abalonie caps that really bring out the abalonie on the fret board, and goes great with my charchol burst finish. dont know if it would look good on cherry burst.my charchol-burst looks more purple-burst.anyways if you come across them buy them they make the guitar look really custom.

Reliability/Durability : 10
well my drummer friend knocked over his symbol stand crashing down on my beautiful guitar, and not even owning it for a month.luckily to my surprise it didnt catch the finish. it did however hit the sharp edge corner of the binding on the lower body. i was pissed.but with a light taps of a small hammer it doesnt look so bad or big as it first appeared.(i know you c-1-plus owners are clinching your teeth)HA HA im fully recovered from that inscident. the strap-buttoons are so the right size..perfect ,i love them dont even need strap locks.i dont do any giging at all.the finish looks like its forever, and i think i can always depend on this one.i would use this guitar any where as a main axe or back up axe.

Customer Support : No Opinion
SCHECTER claims the c-1-plus only has a 1-year warranty.i purchased an additional 2-year from my dealer for a small cost including free set ups for the length of my total warranty.

Overall Rating : 7
i have been playing since age 13.i am 30 now.if i knew the guitar was this bright suonding i probably would not have bought it.if it were stolen... im not sure ,you dont know what you got until its gone. i think its a piece of art work. really for thr price i paid..shes beautiful.id say this guitar reminds me alot of PRS guitars.i like the FENDER STRAT shape, and the arch top of the GIBSON,and to me i feel it part FENDER, part GIBSON ,and part PRS,looking.i do wish it had a whammy bar that would be great.i would really like to see this guitar the c-1-plus with a mahogany neck.and two-peice bridge instead of string through design, and leave everyting else the same ..yeah thats what i would like...and of course get rid of the awful duncan-design pick-ups.

This is a 2000 Schecter C-1 Plus. It has 24 frets, Flame Maple Top, 3 way pickup selector, 2 seperate volume controls, 1 tone control, H/H pickup config, a Duncan Design JB in the bridge and a 59' in the neck, a tone-o-matic bridge, Grover tuners, and Medium Jumbo frets. This thing has a beautiful Black Cherry finish, Creme body and neck binding on a Mahogany body.

Sound : 10
I play metal, rock, punk, blues, and basically everything else. I have a Big Muff, a Boss DS-1, and a Digitech RP100 which I run into a Crate GFX-30 or a Peavey Bandit 112. This guitar isn't noisy at all and it has a great thick sound. It suits my styles very well. There isn't anything I don't like about this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This was set just the way I like it, low but not too low that it buzzed. The pickups were adjusted just fine. I love the Black Cherry finish on this thing, it looks very PRS-like. It feels and plays great as well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Built like a brick, no scratchy controls, no fuzzy pickups. I do however always bring a backup no matter what, because you just never know what will happen.

Didn't have to deal with them

I've been playing for about a Year and a half, I own a Squier strat as well. If someone ever even touched this guitar without asking me I'd kick em' square in the teeth. I would compare this guitar to a Les Paul studio because this Schecter blows the hell out of any Ibanez. I played the LP Studio and the C-1 Plus the same day, I liked both exactly the same and decided that I didn't need to spend an extra $500 on a guitar that was just about as good as this Schecter. Sure the LP was a little nicer, but not $500 nicer.

I already submitted a review for this guitar a while ago. Just thought i give an update. I've already went on about how i love this guitar and whatnot,.....but now,...thanx to this Wonderful piece of heaven,.......i have found the tone that i have been longing for some time now. I put a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the neck and a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. It sounds unbelievable through my
crybaby wah--->MXR Distortion plus--->EQ--->Marshall JMP MK2 Lead 50 watt head--->Marshall 1960A lead cabinet. And the guitar just Feels so right to me like it should be attached to me. I only wish they made this guitar with a floyd rose option,...i'd get that one as well.

Features : 9
Made in 2000 in Korea. 24 frets. Mahogany body, flame maple top, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Absolutely beautiful Charcoal Gray Burst finish, I nearly pissed on myself when I saw it for the first time. It has 2 volume, 1 tone control with a 3 way pickup selector. Two "Duncan Designed" covered humbuckers (nickel covers I assume), the website said the bridge pickup is the JB, neck is the '59. Body shape is reminiscent of a PRS, which is one thing that attracted me to this guitar. String through body, stop tailpiece. Your basic Grover sealed tuners, keep a tune very well actually. Neck is a little on the thick side, but with my big hands I like this better as I can really dig into it. Came with a gig bag but I will soon be getting a hardshell case. Only prob is that it could use another tone control like a Les Paul.

Sound : 10
This guitar is exactly what I needed for my style. I can get any sound out of this, from ACDC to Van Halen all the way to Creed, Incubus, or even Godsmack. I am running this through a Line 6 POD 2.0, then into a Line 6 Spider amp. I heard about problems with microphonic feedback, but this has given me no problem, and I play in sort of a confined area. With the string-through-body, you get a very full, thick sound that is just a tad on the bright side, but that is because the guitar is not incredibly thick (so its not too heavy either). This is the most versatile guitar I have owned, in fact I traded in an Ibanez RG-570 for part of the price of this Schecter.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was set up very well at the factory, I have not had to raise or lower the pickups any at all, the bridge was intonated very well. There were no finish flaws and the maple top is either one piece or very well matched. The knobs are not noisy, and the problems with the pickup selector I had read about have apparently been fixed at the factory because it does not pop out of the bridge position on my guitar. The only problem I have had is that the low E string would buzz pretty badly when in dropped D tuning, but a bit of work with the action fixed that problem. Came factory strung with GHS 10-46 strings.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is solid as a rock. Set neck construction makes it very tough and contributes a lot to the sound. The hardware looks very good in the chrome plating and seems tough also. The finish seems durable, as my cliplock strap scrapes against it sometimes near the bottom strap button, and I have found no scratches yet. The strap buttons seemed big enough, but I always replace my buttons with either Schaller strap locks or a Dimarzio Cliplock strap. This guitar is very dependable, but when I start gigging, I dont see ever not having a backup, you never know when a string will go.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with Schecter as I ordered this guitar through a local music store. The guy at the store went to the NAMM show in LA a few weeks ago though and talked to the Schecter rep for me and said he was pretty nice, even though he was incredibly busy, so I guess that counts for something. I think there is a 90 day warranty, but I got some protection from the music store I went through.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for almost 5 years now. I also own a Squier strat (I know I know) and the before mentioned Line 6 stuff. The only other thing I would have gotten besides this is a PRS. If this thing was stolen, I would go on a murderous rampage until I found the idiot who took it. I would definitely buy another one, I might get one in another color just for kicks. I love the thick neck and the archtop, just to name a few things. This is definitely the perfect guitar for me. I just wish it had one more tone knob.

Mahogony body with a flame maple carved top, set maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The body and neck are bound. Very solid feel with this guitar. 24 Jumbo Frets. 3 finishes are availible (Charcoal Burst, Vintage Sunburst, and Black Cherry). I got the Black Cherry,....BEAUTIFUL(words cant do it justice). The inlays are Schecter's "Vector" style (Very Nice). Tune-O-Matic Bridge. Two Duncan Design Humbuckers, each with it's own volume. 1 tone control.

This guitar shocked the hell outa me! For some stupid reason, i got different pickups for the bridge.(dimarzio paf pro) And i regret it. It sounds great stock. I got a line 6 flextone head and a Marshal 1960 lead JCM 900 cabinet that i use it with. Let me tell u,...i went into a local guitar shop with intentions of buying a gibson or some other name brand,....but this guitar called to me, and i fell in love. Very versitile. Great for the heavier stuff but also for blues. I might get different pickups for the neck to get a little bit of a better clean tone sound though. I'm gonna try out one more pickup in the bridge before i go back to the duncan designed stock, wich are dimarzio x2n's that i love in my jackson ps4 for that over the top randy rhodes kinda tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Right from the get go,...this guitar felt great. U might want to adjust the high string side alittle closer to the strings though. The neck feels like a dream, but i might make the action alittle faster. No complains about the finish,...by far the best looking guiar i've seen,..the flame top is gorgeous!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I havent reall used for a gig yet,...but it seems to be built like a tank.

Havent had to deal with them,...and i hope i never do. No offense, i bet they're really nice people.

I have a jackson ps4 with a double locking tremelo. I wanted a guitar with a fixed bridge also cause the floyd rose is a pain in the ass to deal with. I was thinking like a gibson les paul. I went to the store thinking u get what u pay for and i wanted a brand name,....i havent really heard of schecter. I compared it to a gibson and there was no comparison. It felt better,...sounded better,...looked better and was perfect for me. I still cant understand why n e one would spend any more money for a guitar thats not as good as this one. I just hope everybody doesnt catch on and schecter starts jackin up the prices. It would be great if they made this guitar with a floyd rose as well!

This is a 2000 model in a vintage sunburst color with a very nice flamed maple top. The body is mahogany. It has two "Duncan Designed" humbuckers. The bridge is modelled after a JB and the neck is modelled after a '59. There are two volumes, one for each pickup and one master tone. It has a string through body. I guess this is becoming a popular guitar, because I had to look all over to find the vintage sunburst color.

Sound : 10
I bought this, because I used to play thrash and hardcore in the '80s. I have since gone back to blues, but I thought it would be fun to have a shred guitar again. The sound on this is excellent. I like a liquidy, sustainy sound for lead and this has it. But, I did have to do some pickup adjustments when I got it. I had assumed I'd have to upgrade the pickups, but now I will leave them. I raised both pickups a bit. I was still not satisfied, then I raised the g string pole piece on each pickup one turn and - whoa - what a difference, it just came alive. Now, it has become one of my favorite sounding guitars. It has a lovely, singing, mids to high mids tone, but a nice full round sound on the bass strings. Its a little brighter than a Les Paul with the thicker body, but I can get a Robben Ford meets Santana tone with it. The pickups sustain very well, yet there is no squeal at high gain like other lower end guitars with humbuckers have. It has a nice harmonic feedback if you really crank the gain. I've probably had 60 guitars since I started playing years ago, but this little gem is right up there now with my Les Pauls. In fact I find myself playing this one all the time. I run it through a Hot Rod Deluxe to a Boss NS-2 (mainly for strats), Tech 21 Compressor, Phasor, Vintage Rat, SD-1, Fulldrive II with a DD-3 and Volume pedal in the effects loop. I get a very smooth, creamy tone with a little bite and great sustain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Since I like a low fast action, I had to play with the neck a little. I adjusted the truss rod, just a bit and made the neck a little straighter and I adjusted the pickups. Other than that, the neck is perfect. The guitar, as far as I can tell has no other flaws. Even the inlays on the neck are perfect, no little bits of glue. The binding on the body is perfect and the flame top maple is very nicely matched. I also like the fact that the pickups did not squeal and higher volumes and with a lot of gain. I have had guitars by other companies (who shall remain nameless) that did. These pickups are wax potted very well.

Reliability/Durability : 9
So far I've only used it at reheasal, but I have no qualms about using it live. I'm looking forward to using it soon. I don't really abuse my guitars, so I'm sure the finish and guitar will last a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with them and doubt I will need to.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30 something years now and have had many guitars and still have an assortment of strats, teles and LPs. I am very surprised that this guitar has become one of my all time favorites. I like that fact that I can take it to the blues jams and it still looks "bluesy" enough to satisfy the "strat purists" but it gives me the thick, full sound humbucker sound I like. I am glad I discovered Schecter. If it were stolen or lost, yes, I would definitely get another one. In fact they have some incredible guitars in their catalog. I think this guitar is a great bang for the buck.

Made in 2000. This is one of their Diamond Series guitars made in Korea. It has a mahogany body with a carved maple top, a maple neck with rosewood fretboard. 24 frets. Two humbuckers (Duncan Design; shitty see below), 3 way selector. Tunomatic bridge, Grover tuners. Mine has the Cherry Sunburst finish..Nice!

Sound : No Opinion
Well, the pickups that came with it were nasty! I put a Gibson 57 Classic in the neck and a 57 Classic Plus in the bridge. It's a totally different guitar now. The guitar has a real nice resonance to it. As others have said, it's not as dark as a Les Paul. But it's darker than a strat (even taking pickups into consideration). I am playing this through a couple of tube amps and a Line 6 Flextone II XL (which I love).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was setup very well. Perfectly intonated. I can't find anything wrong with it. The maple top is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I can't stress this enough. It is a beautiful guitar. The top is much nicer than my Les Paul Standard. The top looks more like the Les Paul '59 Reissue or a highly flamed PRS. The Vector inlays on the fretboard are very impressive and no picture does them justice. I bought this guitar mail order from American Musical Supply and I was suprised at how well they looked when I received it. The fret work looks, feels, and sounds about right. Somebody mentioned a problem about the pickup selector switch being cheesy. Maybe they switched to a better one because mine is rock solid and does not pop out of place.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The strap buttons are solid. I may put some strap locks in though. It is a very well made guitar. I would take this puppy anywhere.

I have been playing for 20 years. I have owned probably 12 electric guitars. This is a very fine instrument. The neck is sort of like a Les Pauls. I can't think of a better guitar for the money$$. It playes as well as any Les Paul or PRS I have ever played (although it does not have the pickup versatility of some PRS's). Having purchased this I would have a hard time spending 2K on a guitar ever again because they don't play better than this $500 one. On top of its playability, it's beautiful. I might buy another one in a different finish.
