I believe mine was made in 2002. It has 24 frets. It has a volume knob and a tone knob and a 5-way selector switch. It has two Duncan Designed 103's that I later replaced with a Seymour Duncan 59 at the neck and a SD Custom at the bridge. The body is mahogany with maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. Mine is black with a creme binding. Tune o matic style bridge and grover tuners. 24 3/4 inch neck.

Sound : 10
This thing sounds awesome. With everything stock it still kicked ass to songs from metallica and sabbath. I play it through a marshall MG with DOD Delay, Chorus, and Death Metal Distortion. I use a Dunlop Crybaby and a Boss Compressor. This guitar shreds like mad. Its easy to access all 24 frets easily.it feels so solid when played. I never have a problem with going out of tune either unless I bend the low E to the other side of the fretboard and around but whats supposed to happen right?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is a bit high but not to high you can not shred without being uncomfortable. The machine head for the low E was set a bit to the right and the high E string rests on the back of the tailpiece before it goes into the body. these minor flaws do not mess up with the sound. My only real complaint was the faulty wiring of the volume knob. Ive had it fixed since but it used to get that nasty cable pulled out with distortion sound when I turned it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has stood where others have failed. It has been through various live performances, It has had sweat pouired onto it. Its been banged around and well abused (loved). It still sounds as good as it did the day I brought it home. The only reason I got the Seymour Duncan pickups is just because they sound better and not because the stock sucked. The only show of use on it is where my daughter bit into it while crawling around and it left a little scratch. This guitar is exetremly reliable. If has never failed me or the other members of my band once. It shares a spotlight with a Les Paul and it still holds its own.

Never dealed with them

Ive been playing for 5 years now. I bought this guitar after my epi les paul guitar began dying out after 2 years. I went the the music shop and tried Many Ibanez's, More Epiphones, Fender and squire, Jackson and even a PRS. I found this one hiding in the back where only dust was able to get to it. I brushed it off, plugged it in, and took it home. If my axe came up missing I couldnt replace it because schecter has discontinued this model but I would look into another relative of it. (close relative) This is a my favorite piece of equipment. I love everything about this thing. even the minor flaws. I hated the volume knob problem but its fixed now. Sometimes I wish it had a Whammy Bar to get the Dimebag crunch and squeal, but I probably wouldn't get it if I had the chance because I also like the stop tail piece it came with. Its like and expensive Les Paul in disguise.

I bought this guitar in 2000, I think it was made in Korea(?). It has 24 frets. The stock picks-ups were ok, but since I'm spoiled I swaped them for a Dimarzio PAF Pro on the neck and a Semyour Duncan Distortion at the bridge. What really attracted me to the guitar is the fantastic carved top it has. Very Sexy. The String-thru body looked pretty neat to have also. I also changed the tuners to Sperzels, the stock ones loose their reliability over the years. The jumbo frets suits my shred style. But since I play Ska too...its all good

Sound : 8
Well its been a while since I've played it with its stock pickups, I really cannot remember how they sound. But the SD, Distortion pick-up kicks the walls down. The PAF Pro sounds like, Bleh. But since its my main guitar, It has to have the best sound to it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The factory set-up was really good. I didn't have to fiddle with it at all. But unfortunately I play this guitar constantly. My baby's frets are really worn and there's lots of fret buzz. But thats only if you;ve had it for a long while.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Will this guitar withstand live playing? Definately, but you gotta be careful about tuning it...a lot.
Does the hardware seem like it will last? 4 years main guitar, hell yes.
Is the finish good enough to last, or does it seem thin and easy to wear off with lots of playing? Ummm...I've had it for 4 years and I play it constantly...I take good care of it so it still looks like new!
Are the strap buttons solid? They used to be...
Can you depend on it? Yeah
Would you use it on a gig without a backup? Never ever never, never gig without a backup when your main guitar is only worth 400 bucks

Never dealt with them.

I've been playing since I was a teeny tot at nine years old, now I'm 17...sooo...if i do my math...ummm...5?...no!....7!...wait....8!...there we go, 8 years.
If this were stolen, I'd save up and buy a Ibanez Jem, I love those guitars.
I love this guitar b/c its a perfect fit for me i guess. I wish it had better tuning stability.
I wish this guitar had'int been discontinued :-(

What year was it made? Where was is made? (Japan, Mexico, USA, etc...)
How many frets? 2002 Schecter c-1 standard made in Japan i believe. 24 jumbo frets with 1 tone, 1 volume pot, plus 3 way pickup selector. h-h pup configuration with 2 Duncan Designed pups. Mahogany body with maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Silver Matte finish with Black sides and back. Strat style with string thru body w/ tune-o-matic bridge. Grover tuners provide the stable tuning.

Sound : 10
I play a lot of punk and classic rock with this guitar, and it sounds absolutely amazing wether it be clean or overdriven. I play it through a marshall act 150 stack when gigging and it sounds absoluely devine. At home i use my Crate GFX-30, and it sounds excellent through there also. Has a nice full sound. very bold. Suited for punk/rock/metal. can be toned down for some good old blues, and if you want to install a coiltap im sure it would sound just fine for jazz.

The only problem i have is where the pickups are located, but im used to single coils, so it's a whole different ball field.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the action was very good. Bit high for my likings, but i just lowered it a tad, and still no fret buzz. The pickups came with an even sound. The bottoms can be overpowering, but the highs always sing right through.

No flaws in the finish that i could find, though the back is pretty thin and can scratch quite easily.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is very well suited for live playing. Very sturdy. The bridge hasn't had a problem yet, and the pickups seem like they should last. The tuners are rock solid and stay in tune very well.
The finish is going to be there for ages. Very thick top, but once again the back is pretty thin, but it's only the back. it doesn't matter that much. I used the strap buttons for 4 months or so, and they worked fine. But i always use straplocks, so i finally installed them in there. Now nothing should happen to my schecter EVER!
I've gigged with it a couple of times. it's very sturdy and handles live playing well. I would never play a show without a backup, but if i had to i'd be just fine with my schecrer.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use the warrenty, so i dont know...

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing the guitar for 6 months or so, and nothing has gone wrong. Only broken strings on it...which is bound to happen with any guitar. I've got a jackson DKMG that i play also, and in my honest opinion, besides the floyd rose, the schecter is an all out better guitar.

I absolutely love the finish on it. With no pickguard the thick clear coating works lovely. Doesn't show any scratches ETC. The only thing i wish it had is a set of coil taps built in, because not everything needs 2 humbuckers in it.

This is an overall excellent guitar. I encourage you to play one, and even buy one. They sound amazing.

Same specs as preceding review -- only difference is that mine is cobalt blue and I purchased it in 1998.

The string-through-body feature is also very nice, and I think it does contribute to the guitar's massive sustain.
Pickups are a little substandard but - for the price - it's a great value. Figure an extra $140 for a couple of good pickups and you've got yourself an amazing axe.
I found the neck extremely appealing the minute I played it. In a nutshell, it is very comfortable for smaller hands. Mind you, this is not an Ibanez ultra-skinny wide neck, it is thicker (diameter) and thinner (fretboard)-- yet, to me it feels faster!

Sound : 8
Great tone and fast, fast neck. Stock pickups are a little too muddy and dark for my taste -- replaced them with a Bill Lawrence L-500 (bridge) and a Seymour Duncan Jazz (neck) and now it smokes!

I play classic rock/pop but also enjoy 80's shred -- this means I use clean sounds (Dire Straits), slightly overdriven (Tom Petty/Brian Adams) and full-out distortion (Paul Gilbert). The C-1 handles all very well. The sound (with the new PUs) is extremely articulate and speed picking translates effortlessly. Bends are easy. The only "flaw" would be that the higher you go on the neck, the smaller the frets get... and they do get pretty tinsy on the C-1. Players with big chunky fingers might see this as a problem, especially above the 18th fret.

I play it though a variety of setups including a Behringer V-amp, Fender and Carvin amps, Boss and SansAmp pedals.
I give it an 8 because the pickups do need to be replaced to unleash the instrument's full potential.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is the only guitar I've ever bought (over 26 since 1982) that did not need to be adjusted action-wise. It felt just fine from the beginning and I immediately called Shecter to get the scoop on what gauge strings they were using (10s).

I did adjust the pickup height to fit my particular taste but this is no indication that it was unacceptable.
Overall fretwork and construction is above average for the price... and maybe even superior to many much more expensive instruments.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is one solid feeling axe and I seriously doubt it'll fall apart with regular use and abuse. The finish is thick and it too should easily withstand severe angst.
The only reason why I would need a backup for gigging is because "S**T HAPPENS!" and I don't want to be changing strings in the middle of a set.

Customer Support : 10
As I mentioned above, I contacted Shecter to get info on what strings they shipped with the guitar. I did have to do a little "hold-time" but, once connected, they were very helpful and cordial.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for over 20 years and have collected a number of guitars of all makes, models and price ranges (Fender, Ibanez, Kramer, Aria, EKO, Epiphone, Cort, Washburn and Yamaha). The C-1 is one of my lowest priced guitars and I am very impressed by its superior craftsmanship and appearance. The neck is fabulous and a good couple of pickups are all this axe needs to compete in the major leagues.

Honestly, I believe Shecter is trying to make a name for itself in the mid-priced market, and this is the time to get one of their instruments -- while they're still trying to impress! I got mine in 1998 and I don't know if the quality has changed over the last 4 years. Shecter has since introduced numerous upgraded models (C-1 Plus, C-1 Standard, etc.), so I'm sure anybody could walk into any Guitar Center and snatch a "lowly" C-1 for $300 or less... go for it!

I give it a 9 because the pickups are much too dark and muddy.

Schecter C-1 Standard - 24 frets - one volume, one tone 3 way selector switch below bridge pickup, H/H pickup configuration, Duncan Designed pickups, Black finish, string thru body, Strat style contoured body, Grover tuners....

Sound : 10
The fat neck suits my playing style (I play anything from Metallica to the Seahorses). The sound is incredibly direct and crisp - I play through a Line6 Flextone II, no matter what effect used, the sound is very full and round, especially on clean w/ the bridge p/u. The contoured body allows comfort around the wrist which I swear by nowadays. The C-1 is a simple rock guitar with amazing tone, better than my Les Paul Standard

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When I bought the guitar, the guitar was beautifully set up, the action was low (but not too low for fret-buzz) and straight out of the box the guitar was ready to use. The tuners are sturdy and keep tune after new strings are added, and they maintain key in low tunings (I have been using my C-1 recently in C#), unlike other guitars I have purchased. Selector swtich is silent, even at high volumes - however it is pretty stiff

Reliability/Durability : 10
The C-1 handles live playing very well, I havent had one problem in the 4 months Ive had it! The sound is clear with minimal feedback. Paint finish still looks new, and also the large strap buttons mean I dont need strap locks (saving money for a student is essential!). Ive used my C-1 as my main guitar in every gig since purchased, using a Les Paul and an ESP as my back-ups (for various tunings).

Customer Support : No Opinion
No problems with it so not needed

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing for nearly 8 years now, I also own a Gibson Les Paul Standard, ESP KH2 Signature, Jackson DX-7 seven string, Fender SuperStratocaster and an Ovation acoustic. All electrics are played through my Line6 Flextone with Floorboard and a Line6 2x12. My C-1 may not be as expensive as some of my other instruments but its more reliable and I am now considering buying the Standard with a Floyd Rose bridge. I have been recommending Schecter guitars to all of my friends who are looking into getting new equipment. For looks and sound (and the price), you cant beat it. Simple as...
