Mines was probably made in Korea, but set up in Cali (right here in town!!), and its got the 24 frets, extended scale...i bought mine in 2001 when they stopped selling them. mines has a smoke grey satin finish. i am still searching for a walnut gloss one that they made. it has a 3 way selector on pickups......which as stock pickups sound realy good so i keep them. the absolute best position is the lead position through a good boutique distortion pedal for playing heavy riffs a-la-deftone, soulfly style. its a strat style body only cooler, and the tuners are great...the bridge is set well. i never go out of tune..EVER. a cello tuned neck is a bit thinner but you get used to it quick. accessories were an allen wrench and a cable only good for pedals that schecter lovingly provides with each new guitar....thanks guys!!

my style is heavy melodic for my band "analogdriver". its a credit to our overall tone. i run it through boutique pedals not sold in the u.s. market, and some boss pedals. i have a special distortion box that goes arm & arm with this guitar. i play this through two JC-120's in stereo at volume 4-5.....really loud. on clean/chorus you are being moved by sound at this point. nothing like it anywhere. i dont dislike it one bit.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
good factory set up, but s always i have my tech "frisk" and pamper all my guitars first. i lowered the pickups a bit since the power was overwhelming on the original setup. in Korea they put these input jack washers that always come loose so i replaced it with good ol' american ones and it delivers solid clarity time and time again.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i use it live ALOT. it is a great finish.....people are jealous of mine often. its reliable like all my schecters.....and i dont need a backup.....but i would want the walnut finish model maybe to use with a capo for variations on tunings. i have written alot of songs on this guitar.

Customer Support : 1
they didnt help much. i needed strings and they stopped making them. pretty dumb since they know exactly how many models they sold....you would think they would realize that those players are gonna need strings down the road.....IDIOTS. i dont do warranty's.....my tech always checks my gear out first.

Overall Rating : 10
i have played 9-10 years. i use other schecters too, and a custom epiphone that i changed ALL the parts on, so now it looks like a grestch Setzer model. i am still in search of new or used 5 strings. Hear my band Analogdriver at www.analogdriver.com to hear the 5 string in action

Not sure what year mine was made in. I believe it is a Japanese model. 26 1/2 neck. It has 24 frets. 3-way selector and a single coil tap. Has 2 humbuckers, blade style. Ash body and a black satin finish, killer looking. Strat style body with a schecter reverse head stock. String thru body. Not sure what brand of tuners but they hold pretty good. has a fat neck, but with 5 strings it feels comfortable ( I have small fingers, but a huge dick).

Sound : 9
I play stuff like Soufly and Fear Factory and tune it to A, D, G, C, F. I liked the factory cello tuning, but I couldn't jam with too many people in the A,E,B,F#,C# tuning. I plug it straight into a Marshall VS-100R. It is a full sounding guitar capable of some serious shit. Ripping on the distortion....fat ass tone. This thing sounds killer on clean sounds too....very different, like reviews before, piano sounding. No complaints except mine was used and the high string sound fucked and the neck is slightly warped, nothing that cannot be fixed though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I didn't buy it new, but the action was great. I am not one of those whiny bitches who complain about every little detail, if you can play good it doesn't matter anyways...very easy to play. But, my high 5th string was buzzing when I bought it. But since I don't use it who cares?

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems pretty well built, although I have never gigged with it, I would easily make it a main guitar with no backup because I take care of my guitars, not being an assfuck and hurting them for no reason. The strap buttons are solid for stock ones and the finish is excellent.

Been playing for 9 years and like to keep the guitar interesting. Always trying new things and I am sad this guitar has been discontinued, it it very unique but on the same note I am glad I am one of the few who own one. Beats a baritone 6 string anyday for me since I don't care about lead playing except simple fills, ( no i don't suck I just am not a troll-metal loving fag) . For how much I paid I fell I stole it.

5-string extended scale guitar that is set up for tuning in 5ths -
a-e-b-f#-c#(like a cello). it has a 26 1/2 scale neck and 24 frets. the c-5x has passive dual rail humbuckers custom made for schecter by duncan. volume, tone and three way toggle switch control the electronics. the tone has a push/pull for split pickup control. it has a bolt on maple neck, rosewood fretboard and ash body. i have the gray satin finish which has binding on the body and matching finish on the back of the neck. non-trem bridge with strings thru the body.

here's my rig... c-5x to tuner to dunlop Q zone to dunlup bass crybaby wah to sib varidrive to boss ps-2 pitch shifter/delay to soldano hotrod 50xl head to 4x12 cab. this thing is really full sounding. it really holds intonation well because of the extended scale so you have a lot of definition on the low notes. i've been considering droping the tuning another full step because i think it can still hold tone lower. wow, tuned down to G!!! i don't think my bass player will like that!!! well, anywho, the c-5x sounds great clean. almost piano like... somewhat like a tele on some of the pickup settings. you can get that super round warm sound too for jazz stylings. kick on the distortion and you'd better go get a clean pair of shorts... jeeeez! o.k. it sounds freakin' heavy!!! flipping to the neck pickup and it saturates the tubes in my varidrive so much you get this thick soupy fuzz that sounds ...well...it sounds like thick soupy fuzz that i've never heard before! very musical and melodic when you play single note lines higher up and complete suffocation when you play low chords! it's weird, it's different but i am definitly diggin it.
im just starting to get accustomed to the odd tuning and am finding it a real treat becuase you can easily get all these major, minor, and augmented chords without playing finger twister. i think this is the strongest point of the guitar. ya, you can do one finger power chords but there is so much more avialable if you experiment a little.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
assembled in korea and setup in california. i'd like to get the action a bit faster on the lower strings but i don't want any fret buzzing so i'll have to monkey with it a bit. the pickups seemed a little uneven but it's hard to tell depending on the fx i'm using. the finish is beautiful. it looks much better in person than it does in the pics at their website. also, this thing is solid. i have a schecter a-7 and the c-5x seems so much tighter than that one. there isn't a loose piece on the thing. sure is pertie!!!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
we'll see. seems tough though! at least i don't have to worry about finger prints because of the satin finish!

i've been playing for about 12-15 yrs.(don't remember) and have several 7-strings. to be honest, my hands needed a break from those fat ass necks. plus, i like trying new and unusual things. it keeps things interesting and fresh. although i could tune this thing in a more traditional way i think i'll use the tuning it was designed for for a while because it lends itself to creating things in a method that i may not have thought of before.
now that i know i like the c-5x, i wish they had a couple more models to choose from. i would like a 5-string that has binding on the neck, pickup rings, neck thru-contruction, built in the states, and maybe a little classier headstock with a lot more finish options. but hey, that's a two-edged sword. if they get real popular, you'll probably have all those options but it'll suck because everybody and your brother-in-law will have one. so, considering the modest price paid, and the uniqueness of this guitar, i say i got a really good deal!

Taken under consideration that I put a normal set of .56 seven string ernie balls, and tune to straight BEADG...

*My style is real rythmic and the pickups are too gritty sounding (blaze rails)
*If you HATE microphonic feedback, and play really loud... Your gona want to change the pickups...

Im about to rip ALL the electronics out and slap an EMG81 in there (yeah i know, they steal your tone) Well they are perfect for my sound...

I use a LINE6HD(300w) head going to 2 8ohm 4x12 Black Shadow-Mesa boogie cabs...
Under Rectified
*Gain 2 o clock
*Bass 12 o clock
*Mids all the way up...
*Treble 4 o clock
*Volume 11 o clock(loud)

With the pickups in it its gives a "Round" baritonish sound...
The Clean sound is sick tho, sounds like a baritone tele... :D

Well It was setup all right, but i changed my gauges, and had to reset it up, adjust the neck etc... plays pimp now...

Only problem ive had so far, is the damn string gromets in the back fell out when changing strings... gona have to re-glue them in there...

I dont think the holes through the body for the strings were drilled correctly, a little off... But they fit right...

Other than that, its a solid guitar...
Finish is PERFECT...

Reliability/Durability : 10
Hell yeah it is, the electronics besides the pickups were VERY WELL DONE...

I opened up the cavity and the solder job was clean as hell and the wires were nicely tied up.

I like beat up guitars, so this ones gona take a beating :)

They are idiots, but you shouldnt need to talk to them anyway.

Been playing for 11 years
LINE6HD(300w) head going to 2 8ohm 4x12 Black Shadow-Mesa boogie cabs...

I wish it had EMG81's allready in it :)
(yes I like passive pickups, but for heavy music that you need to be tight and articulate you need actives)

Yeah id buy another one, im about to make 5 strings my main instrument, right now im using my 7 strings as back ups :)
