This particular guitar was built in Korea, then sent to Schecter's US shop for setup in 1998. Bolt on Maple neck / Rosewood 24 jumbo fret fingerboard w/ diamond inlays. I have a feeling the neck will be to the liking of many players out there, as it is substantially beefier than Ibanez's rather thin 7 string necks. The seven non-locking Grover tuners (5+2) are solid and accurate. As electronics go, it's pretty simple: 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3 way toggle for the two direct-mounted, passive, Duncan Design humbuckers. The bridge is a standard "hard tail," string through the body type. The body is gorgeous! Schecter offers five finishes for the C-7! I actually payed a little extra and got a custom finish called "Ultraviolet" (it changes between blue and purple). The finish is absolutley flawless and perfect for the carved top, natuarally bound, strat-style ash body. To keep costs down, though, the body is made of 4 or more pieces of ash as is apparent in the transparent finish models. It also came with a Diamond Series gig bag.

The guitar sounds are quite versatile; it does metal to jazz. I would say that it is voiced more for rock, however. Since there are no coil taps, it is completely noiseless in all 3 pickup settings. From the factory, the guitar is limited to humbucking sounds, but with a push-pull, would be very simple to rig up for single coil sounds from the four conductor pickups.

I can't comment on the factory set up, as the store I purchased it from did a complete setup before I bought it. It felt great right off the rack! The pickups did seem to be set a tad low; no big deal. Regarding flaws, I can't find ANY! The quality of Schecter intruments is impecible!

This guitar is definitely solid! The only reason I would think twice about playing live with it is because I'd be so paranoid about puting those "belt buckle" scratches on the absoultely gorgeous finish! Don't get me wrong though, the finish is durable as can be. The strap buttons are somewhat larger than average, and like the rest of the guitar, are very solid. Outside of a string breaking, I see no reason not to trust my life to this guitar. :)

No Opinion
??? I've never had to deal with Schecter and can't even begin to speculate. I still have to get the warranty card from the dealer, but from what I understand, a conditional life time warranty is provided.

I've been playing about 6 years and also one a couple RG Ibanez guitars, as well as a '77 Ibanez set neck Les Paul standard. I greatly appreciate the character of this guitar. I'm glad to see other companies promoting seven strings. Ibanez seems to [understandably] keep their priority set to six strings; it's nice to see a company offering so many colors and options on a very robust seven string line. Overall favorite aspect: It's feel! It didn't take long for this guitar to feel like a part of me. After that, I love it's appearance; absolutely gorgeous! The 5+2 headstock with scooped "Schecter" logo is just too cool! One thing that is kind of drag after playing Ibanez is the upper fret access. Not only is the cutaway not nearly as wide and deep, but it also uses a traditional block neck joint. Reaching 24 on the treble side is possible, but uncomfortable. And unless your tapping, don't even try to reach the bass strings that high up. Overall, I think it's one of the BEST values out there; especially in the seven string category! This guitar will definitely satisfy all but the most discriminating guitar players (but then again, that's what the Sunset, S, Avenger, and MAG models are for). :)

The Diamond series Schecters are made in Korea and are checked at the factory there, then are sent to the U.S. and checked by their luthier here. 24 extra jumbo frets with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Ash body with a natural body binding. Mine is pearl white, there were only 6 made in this color. 3 way selector with one volume knob and one tone control. Seymour Duncan Design pickups in H/H configutation, which are the highest output pickups I've heard without being active circuitry. Fixed bridge, strat style contoured body. Grover tuners in a 5 on top 2 on bottom configuration. I ordered this guitar from Drum City Guitar Land (www.drumcityguitarland.com) and I got a gig bag, strap numerous picks, a set of strings, and a T-shirt from them. For $540 dollars I got a $1000 guitar. Forget the Ibanez 7 strings you get more from Schecter for less money.

This guitar suits my musical style perfectly. It's got lots of bite and killer harmonics with the Duncan Design pickups. It's also not noisy at all, unless I'm facing the amp or a computer monitor...but thats to be expected. I'm running it through a Digitech XP100 whammy/wah, then into a DOD Grunge pedal into my Crate amp, it gives me the fuzzy type of distortion I like.

The guitar came setup pretty well although the action was a bit low, this may be due to the fact that it shipped from Colorado to Michigan...the weather was cold and might have affected the torsion rod. Other than that it was fine.

I would use this guitar onstage without a backup. I would hate to dent it or misuse it in anyway...but this thing is a tank, you could drag it through hell and back. It sounds heavy and it IS heavy.

I haven't had to deal with the company at all, but it does have a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. How many things can you think of that have a LIFETIME warranty besides craftsman hand tools??

I've been playing for 6 years. I also own a Samick 4 string bass and an Ibanez RG470. If someone stole this guitar I would hunt them down and wipe out their entire family, then I would take the guitar back and make an insurance claim to get another one!! In other words, I would buy the same guitar again. I compared the schecter c-7 and a-7 to the Ibanez RG7621 and this Ibanez only come in black, its like the Model T...you can have any color you want as long as it's black!!! I got more features with the Schecter than the Ibanez had. Ibanez had better watch out cuz Schecter is gunning for your 7 string title!
