White with black binding, 24 fret, Mahogany body, maple/rosewood neck, dot inlays, 2 volumes 1 tone, 3 way, duncan designed active HB-105, string thru, black chrome hardware bought brand new.

I play a variety from RHCP to KoRn and have many uses for the 7th string. 1. Slapping and popping as you would do on a bass and 2. heavy distorted riffs which cut through the drums and bass. For stock pickupps it plays clean very well especially on the neck pickup, very full sounding. The bridge provides more gain and is better used with distortion.
The guitar has great harmonics when using the brdige pickup so artifical harmonicsand natural are easy.

The sticker on the back says set profesionally set up in usa, and came tuned half a step down. Before buying i tried many ibanez guitars from rg's to universes, and i can say the schecter had way better action. The action was awesome as soon as i got it, was fairly low but still doesnt buzz when tuned a whole step down.

This guitar seems very solid and have had no problems as of yet. The hardware has not showed any signs of wear at all. The strap buttons are solid as anything, only worry is the quality of the strap.
The guitar is very dependable, only thing im worried about is the battery dying on me playing live! Iwould still use a backup just incases!

In comparison to other 7 strings such as the rg or universe (probably the most popular) the schecter c-7 is suprisingly better in most aspects. Apart from the stock pickups, the action, build and quality of the hardware are exceptional, and at such a lower cost. The c-7 hellraiser would surpass this guitar on the basis of the emg pickups that are stock. Schecter are still relitivly quiet in the guitar world but if quality this high continues they most likely will become a major company that hopefully does not sell out like fender.

Ash body, maple neck w/ rosewood fretboard, tune-o-matic bridge, Grover tuners, 24 jumbo frets, black finish with natural binding on the body, Duncan Designed pickups. 7 string. Came with a Schecter Diamond Series gig bag which is very thickly padded and can take some abuse. The only thing I would ask for is Seymour Duncan pickups or EMG 707's. Other than that, this guitar is great.
Sound

I play mostly metal, and this guitar is perfect for it. I use it with a Kustom KLA-20 and a Digitech RP80 which I want to sell and get a Line 6 live. The C-7 is quite clean and very crunchy with distortion. For a 7 string, the C-7 is very versatile, it comes from the Ash.
Action, Fit, & Finish

I bought the guitar second-hand, so I thought it had very high action but I changed the strings and that problem was fixed (the strings were oxidized) the action was still a little high so I lowered it and set the intonation and everything was fine. No flaws with hardware. Would've prefered a deeper cutaway but it's cool.

This guitar will last a very long time. I would use it at gigs but I would need a backup, just in case, but then, who doesn't?

If this guitar were lost or stolen, I'd have to buy a different 7 string, as these are discontinued. Probably a Schecter C-7 Blackjack or Hellraiser.
I also own a Cort SP-3 which I want to sell as well as my KLA-20 and my Digitech RP80 and Zoom 505. They're relatively cheap but they get the job done.

Schecter C-7 Diamond series. This one is black with natural bindings - a beautiful instrument. "Duncan design" pickups, which as I understand it, means a no-namer company made them according to the Seymour Duncan specs. The pickups probably aren't as hot as real Duncans, but they still crank out pretty full sound. It has a fixed bridge, which was important to me... I've owned locking trems, but they're too much hassle for me. The neck is nice and thick, just the way I like it - Feels sorta like a Les Paul in that regard. It's also a fairly heavy guitar (of course all my others have been 6 strings). I'm giving it a 10 based on the value/price ratio.
Sound
:

I play mostly death & heavy metal, and it definitely rocks for that. I'm using it with a Flextone III, and they complement each other nicely. I've also played it through my ADA mp-1/microtube 100/2x12 cab, and it sounded good with that rig too.
This guitar is noticably brighter than other guitars I own (and have owned). I think it's due to the Ash body. Sounds great, but some may prefer a darker tone. I'm giving a 9 just because sometimes I have to roll off of the tone knob to darken it a bit...
Action, Fit, & Finish
:
10
It was set up perfectly when I bought it used. I'm not very technical with guitars, but it plays great. The action isn't as low as my old ibanez, but it's still nice and low. Relatively easy to play for a 7-string. I'm giving it a 10 because you really couldn't ask for a better playing guitar in this price range
Reliability/Durability
:

It seems very reliable. All the hardware seems to be great quality. I'm not currently gigging, but if I were I'd probly bring my Les Paul (tuned down to B) just in case of normal string breakage. I've only had it a couple of months, but so far I see no reason I couldn't depend on it for a long time.

I've been playing for 15 years. I also have a Gibson Les Paul special and a couple of acousics. I've barely touched my les paul since I got this Schecter - it's really an amazing instrument, especially for the price. If it were stolen, I'd buy another. i might consider a different model (like the blackjack), but I'd probably stick with Schecter.

Not sure when it was made but i don't think it was that long ago. It has 22 frets 1 volume and 1 tone. The pick ups are Duncan Designed. It has a lovely black finish with wood binding round it. The shape is like a strat and it has a fixed bridge so it doesn't go out of tune.
Sound
:

I think it sounds great the Duncan designed pick ups are ballsy so there great for detuned metal whaich i love to play. I use a line 6 Flextone XL and a Marshall vs100 it sounds great with both especially the Line 6. The bridge pick up is quite bright and is good for metal but the neck pick up is very good for a deep jazzy sound. I love this guitar it is my first 7 string and its brilliant.

I have been playing for about 9 years and this was my first 7 string and i am glad i got this one. I looked at Ibanez models before settling on this model and this definately holds its own when comparing to more expensive Ibanez models. I love it, its everything i tgought it would be. I highly recommend this guitar if you are just starting out on a 7 string or if you have been playing 7 strings for a while. In my opinion even the worst Schecter guitars are better than most other models out there.

The body is alot like a Jackson Soloist, but a little bigger as theirs is a Dinky type. The finish is a brownish red and glossy. Very thick. It has cream binding around the body. 2 Duncan Design HBs and a flatmount hardtail bridge like Fender uses. Hardware is black. 1 volume and 1 tone with a 3 way toggle. 24 frets, jumbo like. Side mount jack. Of course.............7 strings. I wont rate this because I may think it has tons of features, but someone else would think it sucks. For a hardtail 7 stringer, it has everything you would need.
Sound
:

The pickups are cheap knockoffs or real Duncans, but I find lower output pickups to make 7 strings sound better. I have tried distortions, Invaders and even an EMG and they were too hotrodded for the low end to come through without being too muddy. The sound is not bad and can get that Korn sound pretty good. Downtuning is very easy due to it not having a trem. Good sound.

If you are looking for a 7 string and Ibanez isn't floatin yer boat, Schecter makes one hell of a guitar and for cheap. For what you pay for an Ibanez RG7420 you could get 10 times the guitar with this one. I would rather have this Schecter than most any other 7 string. The neck feels great and it has a great balance to it. Killer deal. Go buy one.

I'm not gonna get into the features details. This is the C-7 diamond. I bought the Schecter to move into the 7 string world. This guitar was a very good choice. Built well. I very much like the set neck design. Very good sustain on the instrument.

Great low bottom end sound. Holds the low notes well. I also tune down to a drop G and D combination instead of the B and e combination. I am playing through a Fender cyber deluxe which growls on the low end very well. This guitar plays very hot, by that I mean it creates a great deal of sound with very little effort. I also play an Ibanez RG470, refitted with JB humbucker in bridge, as well as a power house strat with an LR Baggs acoustic tremelo. For warm humbucker tone this guitar is very good.

im not sure about all the features because i got it second hand off a friend. it has 24 frets and a solid top. it has one volume and one tone with a 3 way switch with obiously 2 humbuckers and the neck and bridge.which originally were duncan design but the bridge pickup was changed to a duncan invader for better sound. lol once again im not sure of the specs for the guitar. it has a transparent red finish with a flamed background i guess lol . it has a fixed hardtail bridge. its equipt with grover tuners. all the hardware is crome. the neck is kinda thick but its good for my hands and fingers and the frets are jumbo size. i got it with a hardshell case that u could drop out a 10 story window and it wouldnt do a damn thing. lol

it suits my music style almost perfectly. the only thing i dont like is when i play classical music the extra string gets in the way of my fingerpicking. but i have my other 6 strings for that anyway\
the amps i use for it are as follows; peavy full stack with peavy head, crate 2x12 combo amp, rp300 effects pedal, GNX3 effects pedal
i mainly use distortion and corus but i do use phasers and wierd things like that on occation and its good for all
allthou it is a little bassy but thats to be xspected wit the xtra string. i have so many effects i duno what to do with them all and the guitar complements them nicely

this guitar has stood up to live shows and now that i have it will continue to do so
the only problem with the hardware is that the screws in the pickups rust very easaly but that doesnt seem to effect the proformence of the guitar
i clea it all the time and they still rusted. the strap buttons are great but before i start playin live im gonna replace them with strap locks because im to paranoid not to lol. its very dependable. ive never had a problem with it,and even if i do i have another shecter c-7+ in black for a backup.for 7 string guitars nothing else can compare to mine
and i wouldnt use it without a backup because of the fact that no matter what guitar im playin thers a chance i might break a string and nobody wants to wait for me to tune and replace a string in the middle of a show
its just my own paranoiya

i have been playing for about 4 years now. i own a crate combo amp, a yamaha pacifica 6 string, another schecter c-7+, and 2 other guitars also a small collection of effects pedals.
i have no questons on this guitar and i never have. if it was stolen i do have my other one but id find the person and beat the **** outta them and take it back. and i know i would never lose it. but i will never buy a 7 string that isnt schecter unless i juss plan on sellin it. i love the look and the sound and the rep i get when sumone sees me with it lol. i dont hate anything besides the wieght.my fav feature is the bodys curves . i have never seen anything (in guitars) so nice. i did compare it to a 1600 signature series esp that the guy i bought this from has and althou he paid more i got a better guitar. the only way his sounded better is he put a screamin demon pickup in the bridge spot. and even then i still like mine better. i wish it had strap locks so i didnt hvae to spend another 20 bucks on them lol.
if yuh gonna buy a guitar for sumone thats nota beginner or for yourself buy this one
it may have a little bit of a price tag new but its sooooooo worth it
its the best one i have

This is my first electric guitar. I have been playing for two years. I am addicted to the seventh string because it offers such great heavy tone. - metal time - It can also play clean tunes well. I will give this guitar a 10 for features because I has everything I wanted for my guitar.

I practice on a Marshall AVT20 - this guitar sounds very bad ass through it. My friend's low price Jackson guitar is no match for the tone that this guitar puts out. The 7th string getts a little bit muddy on the bridge humbucker on high gain w/ overdrive. - ill give the sound a 9.

This guitar is a solid mahogany arched top body (although i have heard it's actually ash) that is about as light as my 81' Cutlass supreme. 24 jumbo fret rosewood fingerboard with diamond inlays, and the neck is fairly wide, which i like because i have fat fingers. String through with a fixed bridge and black grover tuners, the tuning heads are set up in a 5-2 figuration on a beautiful headstock. The body is kinda wide Squire-Strat style with a transparent red finish and cream binding. Very expensive looking! The carved top and finish is what attracted me to this guitar. It has two Duncan Designed humbuckers and a 3 position switch, which i am looking to replace. This guitr could hurt somone if you hit them with it!

:

I love the sound of this guitar...it has a very deep warm Les Paul sound on the neck pickup, but the bridge pickup is kinda tinny and dead, so i would replace that. I am not a guitar player, i have just plunked around occasionally on my guitarist's guitars, but decided to buy one of my own and start playing for myself and not deal with an ego(any musicians that are not guitar players can relate to this) I have used this with my BOSS ME-8 and after i sold that, i play through a Peavey Rage 15 watt amp and it still sounds ok on the clean bridge setting. I write mostly on guitar so i have no big rig because i am not a guitar player, but even not plugged in this guitar sounds good acoustic on my couch with its nice sustain. One thing i do not like is the fret buzz especially in the B string. If i would have redesigned the guitar i would have made the B string the longest by extending it far up on the headstock and like 2 inches lower than the other strings. I may not be a great guitar player, but i have been around them for 10 years and know what they are supposed to sound like. If they took out the tinny bridge pickup and fixed the buzz, this would be a 9.5
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The action from where i got this guitar was set nicely, but that was tuned to B(E) using a set of 9s. When i dropped to A(D) with a set of 11s, the action raised a bit more than my liking. I reset the saddle (and it was a total breeze) and put on some Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys and it still is in tune after i sweathogged all over the thing. The pickups were just right and i am so proud of the look of this guitar...it is absolutely beautiful! This thing hangs on my wall and i am not embarrased to show the geeks i hang with that own Les Pauls that they paid about a grand more for. I used to have a Charvel and an HM Strat, and those ugly things NEVER left my bedroom, but i will take this out in public.
Reliability/Durability
:

This thing is solid as hell! I would definitely bring this onstage if i was not concerned with my playing ability. The only bad thing i could see is teh fatigue that would insue carrying this heavy bitch around for an hour-and-a-half set list. Like i said, i sweat profusely and the neck still looks like new, i touched my friend's BC Rich once and now it looks like i smeared coffee all over it!

I bought this with a warantee (that i have no proof of...DOH!) and have ever dealt with this company, but because this is a simple guitar and well-built, i don't think i have to worry about anything. The warranty is lifetime i guess, so that's kinda rare in a guitar.

i'd been messing around with guitars when i was bored with electronics for the last couple of years and this is a keeper. I would buy this guitar again, but maybe it's get a a-7 for that more "metal look." I wished the B string was longer and wished there was a H-S-H pickup setup with a six position switch. The output jack feels a little flimsy, like i could pull my cord out easily from it. I have played an ESP and an Ibanez around the same price range, and BC Richs and Jacksons way above it, and this thing holds its own and is worth way more than what i paid for it. I am going to stick with Schecter, maybe a fixed neck model next. But definely a Schecter because you can get a lower quality import BC, Jackson, or Ibanez for about 200 more dollars and be just like everyone else, or you could own this pretty slick guitar and feel like an individual. Even my "never-happy-with-your-stuff" guitar player loves this thing

I GOT A '99 C-7. BLACK WITH NATURAL BINDING. IT HAS A CARVED TOP SWAMP ASH BODY (MUSICIANS FRIEND STATES ITS A MAHOGANY BODY, BUT SCHECTER SAYS ASH). 24 JUMBO FRETS/ROSEWOOD FRETBOARD ON A MAPLE NECK. GORVER TUNERS, HARD TAIL BRIDGE, AND 2 DUNCAN DESIGNED HUMBUCKERS. 25-1/2" SCALE LENGTH. SINGLE TONE AND VOLUME WITH 3 WAY PICKUP SELECTOR. SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT SETUP.

THIS THING ROCKS! I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS AND DECIDED TO SWITCH TO SEVEN STRING FOR THE EXTRA LOW END. I WAS TUNING A SIX DOWN, BUT DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY IT PLAYED. THE C-7 MADE THE SWITCH EASY. I PLAY IT THROUGH A MARSHALL VALVESTATE SETUP WITH A POD AS MY PREAMP. VERY ARTICULATE SOUND...I ACTUALLY WAS ABLE TO DEVELOP A NEW SOUND DUE TO THE WAY IT SOUNDED FOR ME. ITS VERY VERSATILE.THE PICKUPS SOUND GOOD,VERY WARM YET HOT WITH A LOT LESS HARSH SOUND THAN AN IBANEZ SEVEN STRING.

I BOUGHT THE GUITAR OFF THE WALL AT A GUITAR SHOP. THIS PARTICULAR PLACE IS NOTORIOUS FOR HAVING GUITARS WITH OLD STRINGS....I HAD IT SET UP AFTER I BOUGHT, BUT I BLAME THIS ON THE STORE, NOT THE GUITAR. AFTER THAT IT WAS PERFECT. LOW ACTION THAT WASN'T TOO LOW...I'VE PLAYED SOME IBANEZ'S THAT HAD LOWER ACTION, BUT I PREFER THE ACTION ON THE SCHECTER. IT HAS KIND OF BOUNCY FEEL TO IT THAT MADE IT EASY TO PLAY. THE FINISH WAS GREAT, ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING SOLID COLOR GUITARS OUT THERE. THE BLACK AND NATURAL SCHEME IS A PERFECT MATCH. AND I REALLY DIG THE CARVED TOP....IT'S NOT A MAPLE TOP ON A MAHOGANY BODY, GUYS, ITS A SOLID ASH BODY....

IT'S BEEN PERFECT SINCE. I PLAY IN WORKING, TRAVELING BAND, AND HAVE MOSTLY PLAYED IT WITHOUT A BACKUP...I KEEP NEW STRINGS ON MY GUITAR, SO I WASN'T TOO CONCERNED WITH STRING BREAKAGE, AND I KNOW THE GUITAR WON'T FAIL...I HAVE AN IBANEZ 7 STRING THAT I HAVE FOR BACKUP, BUT GOT SO USED TO THE SHCECTER, THAT I COULDN'T BEAR TO PLAY THE IBANEZ, SO I STARTED LEAVING IT AT HOME.

I play almost metal, prog style, somewhere between fates warning, slayer and machine head. Strange as it seems this guitar fits it all.
We're just a single guitar combo and of while playing small gigs there was always the problem of to thin guitars. This masterpiece creates a wall behind you... the neck pick up delivers singing solo lead sounds like santana the bridge one can be hell, punchy and full. The clean sound is also good, i really like the neck position.
But what i lack is a little bit presence. Maybe a active pick up (emg)
would change this.

7 Strings. 1999 Model. Made in Korea, set up in the US. 24 super jumbo frets, carved maple top/mahogany body, standard dual humbucker setup (no mounting rings), Duncan designed pickups, satin finished maple neck, wide & flat rosewood board. Gold top, gives some Gibson -56 feel although the body shape is strat like. Strings through-body bridge. Grover mini tuners.
I suppose some people could use more wiring features, but I don't care, I've become a minimalist over the years.

The acoustic sound is awesome. Warm & fat, with incredible sustain. Even if I never used the 7th string, I'd still play the guitar just for the sound!
I haven't played it on my amp yet, but I don't doubt that it will be good. If the acoustic sound is OK to begin with, the rest can also be achieved. (I don't think it can do Strat sounds, that's why I have the Strat!).

It suits my style very well. I play everything from jazz to floyd to NIN to tool to korn... Very full sound, maybe to full. thats why id like the tapping pickups.

Excellent set up. Strings a touch light on the low end. I dont see why they insist on installing such a light low B string, i mean its not like it will be used for monster bends or anything. But thats easily fixable. The finish is amazing. It looks like a PRS. I love the woodgrain blue, the cream strip. everything.

I believe this guitar to be very durable. If i had the extra bucks i would have gotten the C7plus but its a lot more money. I think the finish will last, EXcellent strap but tons, strap wont come off. I would use it without a 7 string back up But id have my trusty old 6string heartfield (with a neck that now feels like a banjo) waiting in the wings.

Awesome ax. I would buy it again. Im addicted to the extra string, i think it really puts the E more into context, plus i no longer need to tune down. I love the huge neck, i cant play my 6 string anymore it feels like a toy. My only real gripe is NO ONE from the vancover area sells them! I really think that schecter is an up and coming company and will grow as soon as people see how great there guitars are.

Made in Korea, inspected in the 'California Shop'. Has Grover tuners, Duncan Designed humbucker pickups(passive - high output) at the bridge and neck position, and an arched ash body(quite heavy), bolt on construction neck(maple) with a rosewood fingerboard - 24 frets. The bridge is non-trem thru-body, which allows for better sustain.
Came with a cord. I ordered a hardshell case for it - no gig bag was included.

This suits my music style almost perfectly. This guitar can really crunch, but also has that warm feeling that you get from a Gibson. I keep the pickup switch in the first position(bridge pickup) and this allows for those 'squealing' highs in lead and that crunch for rhythm playing.
I use a Zoom 2020 studio effects processor running through a Crate GX-40 amp(Celestion speakers). There is hardly any noise at all, and the notes are very defined, even in agressive fast soloing.
The sound is a mix between a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Strat, but with more of an edge. The pick-ups aren't perfect, but for the price they are great. Can't expect to have the same quality as EMG's for the price I paid!
You can get some very dark sounds using the 2nd and 3rd position of the pickup switch on a clean channel, maybe add some chorus or flanger. This guitar rocks with distortion, and the distortion I'm using isn't that great, so I can imagine what it would be like with something like a Marshall or Mesa Boogie.
I like the feel most of all. It's a "player's guitar". Very easy neck, low action, and the fret work is flawless from what I can tell. Oh yeah, and I love the look. This thing has THE look of a metal 21st century metal guitar.
I don't like the pickups as much as I thought I would, but like I said before, they aren't Seymour Duncan's or EMG's. They are Duncan Designed - big difference. However, I could see me using this guitar in the studio or on stage.

The set-up was almost perfect. One of the pickups is a little high on the brige position, but nothing that 2 seconds from a screwdriver wouldn't fix.
The brige is perfect from what I can tell. I like the thru-body construction because it increases sustain.
There are no flaws that I can see. All around well built guitar.

I think it would withstand live playing for a while, but the pickup switch would eventually need work. This isn't uncommon though if you use it a lot. Any electronics are going to need servicing on any guitar.
My guitar is black with a natural binding trim. The finish is very nice. It really sets off the arched body. The strap buttons are very solid. I like the top button because it is declined, which gives you more stability if you don't use locks.
I can depend on this guitar. I've played Ibanez, Gibson, Squier, Hamer, and Fender guitars. For the price, you can't beat Schecter.
I've seen a lot of guitars in this price range that were crap. They would have basswood bodies, standard tuners, and cheap construction.

I've been playing for 10 years. I own a Series 10 acoustic/electric, a Fender by Squier strat, and now my baby, the C-7. I used to own a Custom Designed Kramer and a Westone.
The information that American Musical Supply provided on this guitar, coupled with the reviews you guys had on here, there is nothing I wished I'd asked before buying the guitar.
I love the overall feel, and definitely the look. The arched body really makes this thing look 'killer'. I don't care for the pickups very much, but that's nothing that $100 can't take care of. My favorite feature is the playability. Man, you can get those power chords out with the greatest of ease and accuracy.
I compared this guitar to Ibanez and ESP. The models that they sell in this price range are basically CRAP in my opinion. This Schecter guitar is built well - no shortcuts like other guitars.
I wish it had EMG pickups and maybe have had the cord input on the face of the guitar(personal preference really).

The guitar was made in 1999 in Mexico and sent to the U.S.A to be set up. It has 24 Jumbo frets. Very simple electronics only one volume one tone and a three-way pickup selector. (Im going to try and add a seperate volume knob so it can have the same abilities as my SG).
Their are two Duncan desighn Humbuckers in it they are suitable since this isnt my main AX.The neck is rosewood with diamond shaped inlays the rest of the neck is maple. The body color is transeparent red (I love red all my other guitars are red.)The body is shaped like a strat with the strat string through body hardtail bridge. The tuners are Grover non locking (very sturdy high quality). The Neck is fat but it is a seven string and I dont feel I can compare The different neck sizes.
It came with a Shecter Gigbag D'addario seven string set a strap a lame cable and some allen wrenches for the bridge and the truss rod.
All the features are high quality but i like seperate to tone/volume control.

This guitar is great for my Cyber rock sound. The Low B adds a great low end. I had trouble making the change from a six string to a seven string but Its getting better. Im using a fender Rocpro 1000 with two twelve inch speakers. Very mean sound with distortion I plug it straight in to the amp running through nothing. I use it with a SG standard The SG is my main guitar. So i wish this had seperate volume but No big deal. The guitar is kinda muddy but great for the money. ( I think I got spoiled and forgot what an average priced guitar sounded like.)

Well...what can I say...It's a brand new 7-string from Schecter...as fas as I can tell it was carved and painted in Mexi and sent to Schecter to be assembled...nice...
Well...it's basically as close as you can come to a perfect Fender/Gibson blend. Carved top, Strat shaped body, 2 humbuckers, 3 way switch, Fender scale, Strat style string-thru with new-style Fender-type saddles, Tele-style dome knobs, 5+2 headstock. Grover tuners, chrome hardware, big strsp buttons and a GOLD TOP make this thing look great.
This thing came with the 2 hex wrenches needed for setup, a cable (pretty cheesy cale, tho), and a Sweet-ass gig bag...
The coolest thing about this guitar has got to be the neck. It's infinitely more playable than any Ibanez 7 I've played. It's like a nice Strat neck with 7 strings on it. Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and diamond-inlay fret markers.
All in all...this thing is the best 7-string deal on the market!
Sound
:

I play Korn, Metallica, 311, and SRV stuff...along with some really odd original stuff...the only thing that this doesn't suit is the SRV stuff, as it has 2 humbuckers. I'm using it with a Carvin VT50 half-stack, and it sounds big and ballsy...especially thru that Carvin 410 cab...the cab has massive amounts of chunk, and it can handle the low string pretty well! The guitar itself sounds like a good metal guitar when I peg the gain knob...but the neck pickup sounds deep and clear on the clean channel...great overall sounds...I LIKE!
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The guitar came set up well...the 7th string was a bit low for my taste so I jacked it up...but nothing seemed desperately out of order.
My only complaint is that it came set up with a 10-54 7-string set. That may be enough for yer average chunker...but I need bigger strings. I use 10-52's on a six string, if that gives you any idea...so I'm gonna bump that low sting up to a 64 or so...that should make it sound better.

1999 Schecter C-7 Diamond Series with an ash body, hard rock maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The guitar is finished in by far the coolest finish option out there - GOLD TOP - who da thunk it, a seven string in a cool retro finish like that. The pickups are a H/H configuration, duncan desinged. BANG FOR THE BUCK! Standard bridge stung through the body - cool for drop tunings. I've played the Ibanez's, Schecter kickin their ass. I recently ordered an A-7+ for a backup.

I am in to all sorts of music, blues, rock, metal, and power groove. The C-7 cover the bases of my style all the way. It is capable of creating the heavy distorted tones I am looking for as well as the clean bright ones. I play through a Marshall VS265 2x12 with a Boss ME-30 effects processor. Bridge pick- up is Hot+FAT and the neck is warm and clear.

After more playing on the guitar I changed my mind about some things
Sound
:

I suspected that the non heavy sound was due to the thin strings so I tuned it up a half step, to C, E# and so on, and it changed the character of tone, it became much heavier due to the higher tension. I'll put on new strings with heavier gauge, so I don't have to tune up.

I got a email from the president of Schecter and he said that I could try out one of the 7 string pickups they use for the more expensive guitars. That's really good customer support. He also said that the C-7+ has a different sound that I might like more, 'cause it got a set neck and that can make a difference to the sound. but now I'm happy with the C-7.

I play mostly metal( Meshuggah, Memento Mori, Candlemass, Old Metallica, prog and power and some death). And what it lacks the most is a really HEAVY rhytm sound. But that can depend on the thin strings that was on the guitar and a very low action, so the strings buzzed against the frets. When you play single tones you realize how good it can sound. Great sustain and good feedback, a very slow and nice feedback. The clean sound is awesome. Very full and sweet. For effects I use Alesis Midiverb. Great chorus and reverb sounds. My amp is a modded Marshall jmp from '72. The crunhiest and the heaviest amp I've heard so far. I don't think that many non metal players will enjoy this guitar, but make your own opinion. Try it out. It's the cheapest and the best 7 stringed guitar I've heard or played. Better than the Ibanez Universe anyway! If it had a tighter/heavier palm muted sound it would have a 10, but it doesn't have it, so.

I've been playing for 5 years. I haven't bought it yet, still considering if I should. I have a Ibanez Rocket Roll 2, see my review. And that guitar has the ultimate rhytm sound an that is what I'm looking for. A good rhytm sound. Too bad that the C-7 didn't have it. By the way, use a 4x12 cab when you play this guitar. Or else it woun't do the guitar justice. I compared this guitar with a Ibanez Universe 77mc and the Schecter had better rhytm sound. and it costs less too.

This particular guitar was built in Korea, then sent to Schecter's US shop for setup in 1998. Bolt on Maple neck / Rosewood 24 jumbo fret fingerboard w/ diamond inlays. I have a feeling the neck will be to the liking of many players out there, as it is substantially beefier than Ibanez's rather thin 7 string necks. The seven non-locking Grover tuners (5+2) are solid and accurate. As electronics go, it's pretty simple: 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3 way toggle for the two direct-mounted, passive, Duncan Design humbuckers. The bridge is a standard "hard tail," string through the body type. The body is gorgeous! Schecter offers five finishes for the C-7! I actually payed a little extra and got a custom finish called "Ultraviolet" (it changes between blue and purple). The finish is absolutley flawless and perfect for the carved top, natuarally bound, strat-style ash body. To keep costs down, though, the body is made of 4 or more pieces of ash as is apparent in the transparent finish models. It also came with a Diamond Series gig bag.
Sound

The guitar sounds are quite versatile; it does metal to jazz. I would say that it is voiced more for rock, however. Since there are no coil taps, it is completely noiseless in all 3 pickup settings. From the factory, the guitar is limited to humbucking sounds, but with a push-pull, would be very simple to rig up for single coil sounds from the four conductor pickups.

I can't comment on the factory set up, as the store I purchased it from did a complete setup before I bought it. It felt great right off the rack! The pickups did seem to be set a tad low; no big deal. Regarding flaws, I can't find ANY! The quality of Schecter intruments is impecible!

This guitar is definitely solid! The only reason I would think twice about playing live with it is because I'd be so paranoid about puting those "belt buckle" scratches on the absoultely gorgeous finish! Don't get me wrong though, the finish is durable as can be. The strap buttons are somewhat larger than average, and like the rest of the guitar, are very solid. Outside of a string breaking, I see no reason not to trust my life to this guitar. :)

I've been playing about 6 years and also one a couple RG Ibanez guitars, as well as a '77 Ibanez set neck Les Paul standard. I greatly appreciate the character of this guitar. I'm glad to see other companies promoting seven strings. Ibanez seems to [understandably] keep their priority set to six strings; it's nice to see a company offering so many colors and options on a very robust seven string line. Overall favorite aspect: It's feel! It didn't take long for this guitar to feel like a part of me. After that, I love it's appearance; absolutely gorgeous! The 5+2 headstock with scooped "Schecter" logo is just too cool! One thing that is kind of drag after playing Ibanez is the upper fret access. Not only is the cutaway not nearly as wide and deep, but it also uses a traditional block neck joint. Reaching 24 on the treble side is possible, but uncomfortable. And unless your tapping, don't even try to reach the bass strings that high up. Overall, I think it's one of the BEST values out there; especially in the seven string category! This guitar will definitely satisfy all but the most discriminating guitar players (but then again, that's what the Sunset, S, Avenger, and MAG models are for). :)

The Diamond series Schecters are made in Korea and are checked at the factory there, then are sent to the U.S. and checked by their luthier here. 24 extra jumbo frets with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Ash body with a natural body binding. Mine is pearl white, there were only 6 made in this color. 3 way selector with one volume knob and one tone control. Seymour Duncan Design pickups in H/H configutation, which are the highest output pickups I've heard without being active circuitry. Fixed bridge, strat style contoured body. Grover tuners in a 5 on top 2 on bottom configuration. I ordered this guitar from Drum City Guitar Land (www.drumcityguitarland.com) and I got a gig bag, strap numerous picks, a set of strings, and a T-shirt from them. For $540 dollars I got a $1000 guitar. Forget the Ibanez 7 strings you get more from Schecter for less money.

This guitar suits my musical style perfectly. It's got lots of bite and killer harmonics with the Duncan Design pickups. It's also not noisy at all, unless I'm facing the amp or a computer monitor...but thats to be expected. I'm running it through a Digitech XP100 whammy/wah, then into a DOD Grunge pedal into my Crate amp, it gives me the fuzzy type of distortion I like.

If someone stole this guitar I would hunt them down and wipe out their entire family, then I would take the guitar back and make an insurance claim to get another one!! In other words, I would buy the same guitar again. I compared the schecter c-7 and a-7 to the Ibanez RG7621 and this Ibanez only come in black, its like the Model T...you can have any color you want as long as it's black!!! I got more features with the Schecter than the Ibanez had. Ibanez had better watch out cuz Schecter is gunning for your 7 string title!
