Strat/C1 style satin black basswood body with an archtop and recessed control knobs/switches, bolt-on maple neck (25.5" scale), rosewood fretboard w/ 24 extra jumbo frets and pearl vampire bat inlays, black hardware, Grover tuners, EMG H4 and H4A passive humbuckers w/ 3-way switch, tone and volume controls, string through body design over Tune-O-Matic bridge.
Nothing overly fancy about the controls or set up. This is a straight forward as a guitar can get. The real deal with this guitar are the EMG pick-ups and Grover tuners which are great accessories considering the price and give this guitar excellent bang for the buck.

I play mostly metal and doom/stoner rock. This guitar more than delivers on that front. It is a shredding machine and the EMG's put out plenty of gain despite being passive. I usually keep to the bridge pick-up, but this guitar sounds just as good with both selected and doesn't get too muddy as to render the neck pick-up by itself useless either. A noise gate would be a wise investment with this guitar if you plan on really cranking it up.
The clean sound of the EMG's, however, leaves much to be desired. They are very thin and sterile sounding and put out a great deal more volume compared to all things being equal on a distorted setting. Some people may be fine with this and will require very little tweaking (If they even venture into the realm of clean tones), but it took me the better part of a month worth of practices and playing with amp settings to find a decent clean sound. I play through a Line 6 Spider II head and cab and it was easy to dial in correct proportional volumes for clean and distorted settings. But, this could pose a problem for those who play through a simple stomp box to clean channel on an amp set-up.
I will give this guitar the benefit of the doubt since most people aren't buying black axes with vampire bat inlays for their clean tone and rate it solely on how it sounds overdriven.

The set up from the factory was decent, although a tad bit too high for my liking. I play in C#/Drop B and this corrected the action problem once I changed out strings to a set of .56's. But, then I had to raise the bottom side of the bridge a slight bit to compensate as the bottom 3 strings were literally laying on the frets. Nothing major. The pick-ups were set up almost perfect and required only a tiny bit of adjustment upwards towards the strings.
The fit and finish of this guitar were flawless when I first purchased it. My only gripe is that the holes where the strings go through the body have metal gromets on either side. If you are not patient, the end of the string you are trying to put through will get caught on the inside lip of the gromet on the front side of the guitar making for frustrating string changes if you are, say, changing a string onstage in a dark club. This is typical of similar string through designs and I wish someone would figure out how to remedy it.

This guitar is a tank as far as durability. I have had to play shows with this guitar in the past with no back-up and had no concerns or problems aside from a broken string. But, I wouldn't suggest playing any guitar without a back-up if you can help it.
The guitar has a good weight to it and feels well balanced. The stock strap buttons are large enough that I didn't even bother to purchase strap locks for this guitar. However, the sharp 90 degree edges also make for some interesting scrapes and scars on the inside of your strumming wrist of you're not careful. I would suggest a cloth wristband if your playing style causes your wrist to rub up against the top edge of your guitar.
The satin black finish of the guitar has held up just fine since I purchasd it. There have been no issues with the electronics, pots, or switches. The black paint on the hardware around the pick-up selector switch and on the bridge have shown spots of wearing down to the nickel. Also, the pick-up ring and adjustment screws rusted after about 6 months and had to be replaced. The tone and volume knobs also had rust form on the allen wrench tightening screws. All of these issues are to be expected considering the heavy use this guitar has gotten and are easy and relatively cheap to fix by buying replacement hardware.

Schecter could easily be charging $100-$200 more retail for this guitar considering its looks and playability. This was my first experience with Schecter guitars. If I were to ever lose or have this guitar stolen I would definitely find a replacement. But, if I couldn't find one, I would not hesitate to look at other Schecter guitars as they have thoroughly impressed me with this one.

Same as below. No frills metal monster. They have a model with a Floyd Rose for fifty dollars more if thats what your looking for. I give an eight for features because it doesnt really have any extra features but it has all the features it needs for what it is. The only thing I would have liked that it does not have is a coil tap for the neck pick up. I would say its best feature is the incredible value!

This guitar plays and sounds great for the cost and a considerable amount more. People keep on saying this thing needs an EMG 81/85 set but that pick up set alone costs as much as this guitar. Active pick ups would probobly put this guitar in the same class as gutars that cost three or four time as much. I have kept the HZs in mine and they do pretty good, much better than most stock pickups. They can get a little muddy but overall they are good for any thing but a chimey clean sound. This guitar also handles drop tunings very well as long as you have heavey enough strings. To be fairly hot pickups they are quiet.

I was not one hundred percent satesfied with the set up but it was not terrible. Someone should tell the setup techs down at shecter that most people who buy a matte black guitar with EMG pickups and BATS on the fretboard probobly want the action as low as it can get and the pickups fairly high (maybe Im wrong) but I thought the action was too high for this guitar (Ive played acustics that were lower). Of course set up is ultimatly a matter of opinion and should be adjusted to ones own taste. This guitar was stunning when I got it but keep it in a case because the finish shows dirt MORE than a gloss finish. I didnt find any flaws. I do have to add that I found it ironic that its made in korea and setup in the US and that the build quality was better than the setup.

I do not play live but I do play everyday and in fifteen years of playing this is the only guitar Ive ever owned that did noy give me any trouble at all the first year I had it. Ive had it for a year with no issues what so ever. Hardware wise everything seems pretty good exept the screws. Alot of the small screws that hold the pickup rings and back plates have started to lightly rust or had the paint start to wear off. A cheap fix I suppose. The finish seems durable although where my finger rests on the guitar it has buffed the satin finish to a dull shine. I dont mind it adds character. Willy Nelson has worn a hole in the same spot of his acoustic. The strap buttons are huge and hold real well. Basswood is known to offten strip out quickly because it is so soft but so far they are real solid. Over all I would say this guitar is incredibly reliable. You should never gig without a back up!!!!!

I have been playing fifteen years off and on (more on than off). I own a few other guitars but this is my favorite. If it were stolen I would try to convince the insurance company that it was a much more expensive guitar (lol!) I dont know if I would buy the same one again or not. Not because of anything wrong with it but I just like to change things up. I would probobly try to find something with a thinner neck (Ibanez). I love the sound and look of this guitar. I wish the neck was a little thinner and it is a little heavey for basswood. But overall this guitar is incredible for the price. If the C1 and other higher priced Schecters are "Gibson Killers" this is definetly a "Epiphone Killer" and with better pickups it would pretty much hold its own against a gibson.

The Black satin finish is pretty sweet, and you really have to see one in person to really know what it looks like, pictures really dont catch the lack of shine on the finish. The C-1 style body is very comfortable, and allows easy access to all 24 frets, which are marked with black pearl batwing designs on a rosewood fretboard. The neck is pretty fast with a 25.5" scale. The black hardware contributes to the dark and subtle look with Grover Tuners, a TonePros bridges and Black Metal Knobs (1 volume, 1 tone). It comes stocked with two EMGhz passive pickups. Great for hard rock and metal, although I plan to Upgrade to an EMG Zakk Wylde Active Set. The Body is arched Basswood.

I play mostly Punk and Metal on this guitar (i use an LP for Blues and Classic) and it sounds great distorted through a Digitech DF-7 distortion pedal, although the passive EMGs can get a little dirty sounding if you push them too hard, though they're still the best passive pickups for Distorted tones i've played. The is pretty good, but not great (nothing worth buying a compressor for).

It came from the factory as smooth as can be, Good medium action with a high bridge (great for palm muting), Nothing was loose, frets were level, the inlays were smooth... really no flaws. Its a pretty straight forward guitar. No fancy frills except the inlays, which still fit the aesthetically dark tone of the instrument.

This thing's pretty trusty, I've had it for 7 months and havent broken a string on it. I dont really gig, but i imagine it would hold up beautifully onstage. I put straplocks on it, but i do that with all my guitars just to be safe.

I've been playing for about 4 years now, and this guitar suits me perfectly when playing Any kind of rock. I bought this guitar as sort of a backup for my Jackson DKMG and to have a quality guitar with a fixed bridge, and it's yet to fail me in any way. My only complaint would be the passive pickups, which really isnt that big of a deal.

I play metal and hard rock, and the damien 6 is absolutely great for it. I play through a roland cube 15 for practice and then a B-52 AT-100 triple-rec. THe Damien 6 just shreds! I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only could I get the face melting crunch and distortion I wanted, but also some great clean tones as well, bluesy and toneful sounding.

This guitar can definitely withstand live playing. (always have a backup though- guitarist's rule of thumb!)
Hardware is durable, the matte-black finish is great because it doesn't show fingerprints and oily spots well, and wears very fine.
I put some schaller strap-loks on it to make sure it doesn't go flying, and then it's a great gig-axe!

The emgpickups sound awesome. I prefer the EMG actives but the HZ series are really good. I play my guitars out of a Marshall MG250dfx amp. The sound is really amazing. I play mostly rock, metal and this guitar really suits my needs. Like I said before, if this guitar had EMG active pickups I would give it a 10.

This guitar was palyable right out of the box. Everything was setup for me perfectly. I bought it from a dealer on the internet and I'm not sure if they setup everything or if it was the manufacturer. This guitar has 0 flaws. The finish is nice in satan, the hardware is mint etc.

I feel this guitar will withstand live playing. I guess time will tell. The hardware seems solid and will last. The finish is nice and will last. The strap buttons feel solid. Like all of my other guitars I can depend on it, but I always bring a backup. Only a fool would play a gig without a backup.

I have been playing for around 2 years. I'm not a professional musician, just a hobbyist. If this guitar was stolen, I would buy another one in a heart beat. I love just about everything about this guitar. The finish, the craftsmanship, the sound etc. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I wish it had EMG active pickups. Trust me, this guitar is worth a lot more that I payed. I have seen the for $350.00 and thats still a good deal. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
