This guitar had its debut in 2001. I beleive it was made in Korea. 22 frets, beutiful flamed maple and mohogany. There is two volume and 1 tone knobs and a 3 way selector switch. It is a H/H guitar with duncan design passive Humbuckers...you know the rest.

Sound : 9
I play alot of blues rock and mainly texas blues. Basically I play most of Stevie Ray Vaughan's stuff. I play on a Peavey classic 50/410 and the only effects I have thus far are a Dunlop Crybaby Wah and an Arion stereo chorus. This guitar kicks ass on this amp. It has essentially no buzzing on both channels (clean, and gain) It has a really nice sound in the neck position. This guitar works great and is very versatile.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I liked the factory settings but I lowered the bridge a tad. I raised the pickups up about 1/16 of an inch for more volume. My bridge was a little crooked though.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is great with live gigs and it seems a lasting guitar, and the finish is very nice (it may be that way because I polish it often. Everything is pretty much solid and works well. Always play with a backup.

Customer Support : 6
This company as far as support goes didnt really impress me.

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing for a couple of years but I have saturated tons of info about guitars. I have an old 70's epiphone FT-140. If it were lost or stolen I would buy my dream guitar which is a 1958 or '62 strat. I love the looks and the tone.

I got it in 2002 so it must have been created within 2002 or a year or so before. It was made in Korea. 22 jumbo frets on the board, Set Neck, Mahogany/Flame Maple body, Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, diamond pearl inlays, chrome hardware, tune-o-matic bridge, griver tuners, reme binding around neck, duncan design pickups, black cherry finish, double cutaway body. No tremelo.

Sound : 9
This was my first electric guitar (and still is). At the time I didn't have a definitive style I wanted to play, but now I like to play the blues. It's not such a bad guitar for the blues even though the appearance is so aggresive. The amp I have it hooked up to is a Line-6 Spyder 112. The guitar soudns great in all the effects, it is very versatile. It has a better edge on the clean + reverb settings. The sound is very bright and clean. People have told me it sounds like a Fender strat (when I play some blues).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The factory action was alright but with the adjustable bride I lowed it a bit. The pickups are fine but not something you would use for heavy, heavy distortion. There is a little flaw in the finish but it's not very noticeable.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Just about a month after I got it something burned out in the wiring. The guitar just stopped producing any tunes. The next day it started working again but the volume knobs make a scratching sound when I turned them and at certain volume settings there is absolutely no sound coming out. This is really the only issue I have had with the guitar. Everything else about it seems solid. I would use it for gigging with no worries since it's been almost 2 years now without any surprises (except for that first one).

Customer Support : 8
When I contacted customer support about the issue I had with something burning out in the wiring, they were quick to respond with a solution and provided me info. It came with a 90 day warranty.

Overall Rating : 8
It's been almost 2 years that I have ben playing this thing and I am sticking with it. The only other guitar I bought after this was a Martin accoustic. If I lost this guitar or had to get a replacement, I would probably go with either a Fender Strat or Telecaster.

I love the guitar for it's shape and looks. The sound also serves as a compliment to its looks. It's been compared (by others) to the sound of a Fender Strat. I wish this guitar had a tremelo bar and a more selective switch.

2002 Korean. Surprisingly nice Black Cherry finish, stock features include Duncan Design humbuckers, two volume, one tone knob, set neck, Grover tuners, 22 jumbo frets, Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece. Simple, functional layout.

Sound : 9
I'm really pleased (and surpised) with the pickups. I'm running straight through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe - the guitar handles everything from clean to crunch. I've been playing almost 30 years, and have owned or played most brands. After a year of gigging with a PRS McCarty, I went back to American Strats. I play lots of styles, but my favorite is blues and blues/rock (Allman Brothers, etc.) I wanted a guitar with more punch than a Strat, but don't like the weight and feel of Les Pauls (although the DC is nice). The pickups aren't as hot as others out there, but they're perfect for most of my playing, and very versatile. The McCarty pickups were almost too warm. These pickups are warm, but they've got a nice edge. To my ear, this guitar covers the ground between single coils and heavy humbuckers. I hear this is supposed to be a "metal" guitar, but it's quickly becoming my favorite blues axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This was a floor model at Guitar Center. No cosmetic flaws. As noted above, the flame Black Cherry finish is surprisingly nice for such a relatively inexpensive guitar. The flame is not as dramatic as my PRS, but it is matched well and finished very nicely. The action was fair, but it took me a while to get intonation set up correctly. I also had to make some pickup adjustments to get more punch out of the treble strings. The input jack was loose - no big deal. The neck is straight, and very comfortable. Electronics and controls are quiet and work well. I've seen some other reviewers mention inadvertent string bending at the lower frets. This may be due to the nut height, but is more likely a result of the tall jumbo frets. I'll probably bring the frets down a little to better accomodate open chords. Otherwise, the fret work seems to be pretty good.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've only had this guitar for a few months, but I haven't had any problems yet. Hardware, controls and tuners all seem sturdy. I don't anticipate any problems, although I'll probably nick the "points" off of the headstock sooner or later.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with the company.

Overall Rating : 9
I was really just shopping for a cheapo humbucker guitar to goof around with - I hadn't really thought about getting anything that I would play seriously. I'm very impressed. I played lots of Epiphones, ESP's, and other guitars in the under-$500 range - this one really stood out. It's as comfortable to play as a Strat, due in large part to the contour on the upper side of the body. It's even lighter than my American Deluxe Strat. As other reviewers have noted, this guitar is neck-heavy (a result of a light body and short upper bout). The lack of balance is a bit of a nuisance, but I like the guitar so much that I'm going to try to rig a little extra weight on the back end of my strap and see if that helps. Other than the heavy-head syndrome, and perhaps the too-tall frets, I really don't have any complaints about this guitar. Perhaps the neck pickup volume knob could be a little closer to the playing area for easier "volume rolling", but I'm adjusting to the layout pretty quickly. I have some very expensive guitars that haven't been getting out of their cases much since I picked up this Schecter. Opinions about guitars are necessarily very personal, but I think this is one hell of bargain.

2002 Korean - 22 fret - mahogany transparent black finish. Duncan Designed pickups, tune-o-matic bridge. Nice for price!

Sound : 8
I play alternative/industrial/punk and this guitar suits me perfectly. I play through and old Crate GX-160 but with a Digitech RP2000. The sound is great. Bridge pickup good for distortion, neck pickup good for acoustic. Only one tone nob for both pickups (one volume each) but I never particularly liked combining pickups anyway (not even on my Steinberger GM4TA). Tone for each pickup ranges from blues muddddd to bright. Not too noisy either.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was great right out of the box! Must've been a good tech/day at the factory. I only had to raise the bridge a 1/2 turn on the low-E side. Will probably have to adjust further as I play .11's and the strings it came with are .09's (I think). No flaws so far, although I think I may replace the plastic-ish nut in the future just to be on the safe side.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar feels like a tank! I specifically bought it for live play and have great confidence in its durability. Switches/knobs and hardware are nice and tight/smooth. May buy another for live as well (backup). NEVER PLAY OUT WITHOUT A BACKUP!

For the price, this guitar is UNBEATABLE! I may pay the extra $150 for another with the black cherry finish. This guitar may not be a shred-monster, but that's not what it's built for. Great value!

I'M GONNA START OFF BY SAYING THAT I ONLY GIVE PERFECT GUITARS 10'S, SO SINCE THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT GUITAR, I DON'T GIVE 10'S. UNLIKE MANY OF THE REVIEWS ON THIS SITE, I'M GONNA TRY TO MAKE THIS AS OBJECTIVE AS POSSIBLE.
2001 Korean made guitar. 24 frets. Maple flame top. Awesome look. 2 volumes, one tone. two duncan designed humbuckers. I give it a 7, because an 8 would have another tone nob for each humbucker, and a 9 would have a cupholder for my beer. (in other words, how many features can a guitar really have???)

Sound : 8
Considering these are duncan designed pickups, the sound is awesome. I didn't expect tone like this out of a Schecter but I was really surprised. Very warm warm tone. the neck pickup and get very bluesy tones. The bridge is very good for alternative, and some metal, although, not the hottest pickup. The sound is incredible for a stock pickup tho, and I give it an 8, a 9 if they were real duncan '59's and JB's.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
After getting this guitar setup w/ .11's (stock were .09's), this guitar was pretty flawless. Action was super low, and still no fret buzz (how is this possible?) Schecter has made a very quality guitar w/ this one. Again, an 8 for me is pretty near perfection, w/ 9 being strings flush to the guitar and no fret buzz (not possible) and 10 being this guitar being able to read my mind so i don't even need to play the damn thing.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This thing is heavy as a mother fucker, durable, doubt even a car running over this thing will hurt it. Don't know the dependency of the hardware components, only had it a few months. So I don't think i can rate this category.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't spoken to Schecter directly, only to guitar tech at guitar center.

Overall Rating : 8
For the price, this guitar can't be beat, until maybe next year if they make something even better. I give it an 8, because I've never played a 9, even the guitars i played that were twice as expensive didn't compare to this one. anyone has any questions, e-mail me at abshortay@yahoo.com

I think this guitar is a 2000 or 2001
.22 frets
.2 volumes knobs and 1 tone
.2 humbuckers (duncan design)
.mahogany wood
.flame top
.cutaway body type
.tune o matic bridge
.I got mine from Sam Ash and they never give any accessories that are supposed to come with it

Sound : 9
I think this guitar suits my style pretty good, I play anything from Weezer to Pantera so I would say POP rock to the heavy shit. I use a crate 65 watt, a DOD death metal distortion and a cry baby WAH. the guitar sounds very nice clean as well as distorted.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I didnt have to adjust anything on this mother. It came perfect to my needs ACCEPT the weak strings, I think it was a 9 set but I put on a pair of 11s. the guitar is a little neck heavy but its nothing that won't bother you after a day. I got this guitar for $360, Sam Ash made a mistake with the price tag(it was the lower s-l model price tag)on the s-1 plus so I saved like 100 dollars or more, plus they took off 30 bucks for 2 little scratches

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is very solid, i use a locking strap and thats all I need, I would'ent bring a back up guitar because I don't have one but I trust this guitar so its all good

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent had to deal with them yet but I have only had the guitar for 2 days

ive been playing over 2 yrs and I would recomend this guitar to someone, it feels just like a les paul and plays basically the same, I wish one thing it had was more balance.....the neck goes a little downwards when leting go of it

Just bought it; must be a 2000 or 2001...3 way, passive electronics, maple top/ mahogany bod/maple neck/rosewood fingerboard...22 fret...sorry about redundancy; see others 'cause they are all the same. Only a cable was included, case would have been nice.

Sound : 9
Sound is VERY nice! I play alternative guitar-driven stuff; classic rock/hard rock, too...using a Marshall JCM 900, and a digitech RP1 processor (on occasion ;-} ) Quiet as a church mouse when clean, seems to be high quality pots...Nicely bright sounds when cranked and overdriven, with a "Les Paul" ambience...pickups seem adequate but not extraordinary. With creativity and a processor, you can make this thing sound like anything! Awesome....

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Guitar was set up nicely, I didn't have to f*^k with the intonation at all...pickups were ok; I raised them a touch 'cause of personal taste...action incredible. Better than my old LP, though the nut is a little high. Spectacular finish! Maple top awesome, I found only 1 slight blemish on the back that was BARELY noticable. 3 way switch not the best, but unlike others in previous posts, it doesn't flop around. Very tight materials, never goes out of tune! Only problem with this ax is that you need to adjust your finger pressure on the low 3 or so frets. If you learn to not "strangle" the strings, it is OK, I think this has something to do with the nut...would have given it a 10 otherwise!

Reliability/Durability : 9
This ax will take on full-time playing. I can't foresee any future trouble with hardware/finish, I am SO happy! ;) Always have a backup, tho....good policy!

I've been playing over 20 years, and used to own a LP. If the S1+ were stolen :( and I catch them, there would be little left of them :) It is a beautiful instrument, one that I am proud to own. I may swap pickups at some point, but geez. At this price, I don't think you can find anything comparable! Strap locks will complete this beauty; wish it came with a case, tho!

I beleive this one was built in 2001 in the good ol USA. That's whats nice about schecter. The style this guitar has is very similar to a Les Paul double cutaway, it also feels almost like a Les Paul too without all the weight! This guitar has 22 frets with a 24 3/4 inch scale rosewood fingerboard, maple neck, mohogany body with a damn nice black cherry flame maple top, and tune o matic bridge. It came with Duncan Design Humbuckers but when I ordered the guitar I order EMG active pickups to be install when it got delivered so I can't say much about the Duncan Design pickups cause I never played the guitar with them in it. It also has two volume knobs, one tone knob, and a 3 way selector switch. This guitar also came with Grover tuners and they stay in tune very well. The hardshell case was optional but I ordered it anyway. Schecter was nice enough to through in an extra instument cable when I bought this! The strings were 9's or 10's but I prefer 11's so had to do some filing but after that it was perfect! I can't say this guitar has everything but it has everything I want. I don't think any guitar could have it all so I give it a 9.

Sound : 9
This guitar is simply amazing! I play tons of metal but also like playing rock and some classic rock and would have to say it is a pretty versitile guitar but for me with having EMG pickups in it suits my style. I play this guitar(duh) with EMG 81/85 pickups into a Boss Metal Zone into a Crate GFX212 w\vintage 30's all connected by Monster Cable StudioPro1000 Instrument Cables. Through this setup I can acheive some very radical sounds! The sound it produces is very full and rich, Clean sounds are almost as full as my Les Paul but not quite. Tons of sustain! Play with distiortion through this and it'll rip your head off! I give it a 9 cause nothings perfect.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
This is the most amazing flame maple top I have ever seen! It is better than my Les Paul's wine red maple top. I can't say enough about how it looks execpt for the neck binding, It is an off cream color and doesn't match any of the other colors on the guitar but that is the least of my concerns. It was setup almost perfect, like I said before it came with puny strings so I changed them to 11's, tuned her up and did a little inonation test and now it plays awesome! The selector switch and control knobs work very well. The neck feels alot like my Les Paul but mabye a bit thinner. The main reason I got this guitar is because by specs, looks, and the way it feels it is very close to a Les Paul, I am not dissapointed at all. In some respects it is like playing my Les Paul without all the weight! I read some previous reviews on the Schecter S1 and they mentioned the S1 as being neck heavy but on this S1 Plus it is balanced well, like I said before it is similar to a Les Paul. I give it a 7 for having the ugly binding and puny strings but no other complaints!

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would have to say this is a very sturdy guitar and I can totally depend on it. I would even gig without a backup but I don't cause I have my Les Paul also. I would get strap locks though if you are serious and don't want to drop your guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never delt with them before but when I ordered my guitar I ordered it through A1 Music in Wichita, KS. The guitar had been backordered and it was 3 months before Schecter finally sent it to A1 where from there they put EMG's in it. The guys at A1 are the best, I go there to get most of my equipment and they have always helped me! This guitar was definitley worth waiting for!

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for about 2 1\2 years and I have had a B.C Rich Virgin which sucked big time cause it was very neck heavy and the fu#@%ng thing was a bitch to tune cause of the Floyd Rose Tremelo. That sort of thing is ok if you know how to use it but after having that for about 6 months I knew I had no intentions of ever using the tremlo to dive bomb notes and stuff like that, it is good however if you like tuning way down like C# or B. I also owned an Epiphone stat copy, actually my first guitar. After going through some deep thought I am deciding to bypass the worries of going through countless pieces of gear and just settling for the best, My next step will be to get a VHT Pittbull Ultra-Lead head and 4x12 cab, can't go wrong there huh?! I love everything about this guitar now, like before, I comared it to my Les Paul and they are very similar in ways. Ha ha, if it were stolen, ha ha I would just have to get Kung Fu on their ass they would be screaming "Mommy help!!!" If anything ever happened to this guitar I would definately buy it again. For the price it is a catagory of a hundred other guitars but for the quality it is unlike any other in that catagory, this is QUALITY!
Go out and try one!!

I have played guitar for about 8 years. I finally wanted to make the switch over from strat copies to a solid, stand-alone-by-itself guitar. I was willing to spend more, but the guitar i liked the best was one of the cheapest. Schecter has a pretty colid line of guitars. I tried out the S-1 and really didn't like it, but liked the look. With the S-1 plus, schecter, i am guessing, fixed everything that was wrong with the S-1. I really love the feeling of the neck and fretboard, the pickups are wonderful Seymor Duncan, and it stay in tune through a lot of playing. I would definetly buy another if it were stolen.
