It was made in 2002 in Korea. It has 22 jumbo frets. Solid mahogany body and 3 piece mahogany neck. It has 2 volume and 1 tone that can switch from single coil to humbucker. It has h-102 duncan designed humbuckers. It has a gloss black finish with black pickguard. It looks a lot like an sg. It has grover tuners which are very nice. It is not a string thru body. It reminds me of an sg.

Sound : 6
The bridge pickup is great. It has a real crunchy sounD but also very clean at the same time. You can hear all strings when strummed at once. I have not experienced any feedback or buzzing. It doesnt sound bright or full. Kind of in between. It can sound like the hardest metal to the saddest blues.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It came set up with 10 guage strings but I quickly put nines on there and it played a lot better. Other than that it was perfect. The intonation is perfect. The finish looks great.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar would be a great live guitar and I do think that this will last. Yes I would use this guitar without a backup.

Customer Support : 9
I dealt with them before I purchased this guitar and they responded the same day and answered all of my questions

I have been playing about 15 years and I also have a 1966 fender musicmaster and also a 95 g&l legacy. I used to have a gibson SG. It was a piece of junk. I could not keep it in tune. I would play this against it in a heartbeat. I would buy another one.I like the neck it feels good. The pickups sound great but I wish it had real duncans. I will replace them eventually. I considered an epiphone but like I said the SG sucked.

I think this guitar was made in 2000 in Korea. It's got 22 fat frets. It came with a 3-way switch selector and 2 Seymor Duncan style humbuckers. The finish is black and it looks good. No flaws. Grover tuners and string-through-body. Oh yes, and it came with a really crappy gig-bag.

Sound : 8
It sounds good if you use the neck humbucker otherwise the tone gets too shrill, but that's a matter of preferences. I simply prefer a darker tone. The humbuckers doesn't buzz or anything and I've had no problems with feed back. The only set back is that the humbuckers are a tad weak. You'll especially experience this when you play w/o distortion. However, you should note that this guitar is a heavy metal guitar, hence the shrill bridge pick up and the rather poor clear sound. As before, it's a matter of preferences. Another problem is the tone control. It's a tone switch (although you'd be tempted to think something it's a control since the switch looks like a control, etc.): it's either on or off. There is nothing in between.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I've got nothing at all to complain about. You could start playing it immediately with no hussling.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had no problems with this guitar and I would never hesitate to play it on stage, although I haven't yet due to a lack of other band members. You should not hesitate to buy this guitar because of its reliability or durability. I've had it for more than two years and I've had no problems at all with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had anything to do with them although it took me a bastardous half year to get the guitar. That might have something to do with the fact that I'm living in Sweden.

Overall Rating : 9
Well, the Schecter S1 is a good guitar for its price. If you like playing heavy metal and don't want to spend too much money on a guitar. It's simply well worth the price.

Mahogony body, chips and scratches easy, but hey nice tone. Two duncan design pickups, humbuckers, not bad. Neck is comfy. Sg style body, grover tuners, yet sometimes even if you stretch the string aply, the g string goes out. String through body reasonable sustain. Three way selector switch, kinda flimsy.Neck is decent, wide somewhat thick, not to hard to get used to.

Sound : 9
Used wiht peavey classic 30 and sunn model t, sounds great, as long asthe g stays in tine, can get plenty of sounds by varing tone knob. can be used for most stlyes of music if your amp is set right, could be somewhat brighter, but quite good for the most part.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
set up terrible, then got a bad set up at repair shop, tension still not where i like it, 21st and 2nd fret canbe annoying, and have less sustain from annoying playing, woods nice, but easily dents and scatches , finish needs to be thicker

Reliability/Durability : 9
its fine, finish will wear off, eh, dont ever go without a backup, unless you play whiney pop punk

Customer Support : No Opinion
donno

Korean made, mahogany solid body, rosewood board with jumbo frets, satin maple neck. Twin humbuckers, Duncan Designed. 3 way togle. Gloss "Army Greenburst" String through bridge. SG/LP Jr cross body style. Grover tuners.

I loved the body style, although I am 6'5" tall it is kinda small for me. Finish looks great and satin neck feels wonderful. Well set up, although I had some slight fret buzz on the low E, that was quickly fixed by the dealer. No case came included, which sucked, but at $300.00 retail, what more can you ask for?

Sound : 7
The pickups are at best "adequate". I play a range from Metallica style to Pink Floyd. I will be replaceing them with Gibson "Tony Iommi" custom pickups at first oportunity. To be fair the pickups on my Gibson SG-1 suck much more and the SG cost $400, so......
The S-1 plays and sounds pretty good as is, but we all know that a $300 guitar can be improved.........

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Other than the slight fret buzz (quickly fixed) I am very happy with set up, finish and action. Action is low, but that is alright with me. Again, by way of comparison, the Gibson SG-1 ($400 retail) was not nearly as nicely set up.

Reliability/Durability : 8
So far (2 years) dependable and reliable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to Call.......

Overall Rating : 9
Compared to many of the other guitars I've tried in this price range, the S-1 is a keeper. As I've stated above, my Gibson SG-1 that cost $100 more was not as well playing, sounding, durable or nicely set up as the schedter. And the Gibson was American Made to boot. Now, I love Gibsons (and couldnt live without my 71' SG Deluxe) but for the money, an enty level to mid level guitarist could do worse.

Just got it. Korean made, 22 frets, beautiful army green sunburst finish, 2 volume, 1 tone; 2 Duncan Designed humbuckers. String through body. Came with a fairly nice gig bag. Hey, and the pickups can be tapped so you can turn off on of the coils of the humbucker and go single coil. This can be done by a certified guitar tech and it doesn't void your waranty.

Sound : 9
I play a lot of progressive rock and heavy tunes. This guitar has an excellent crunch. I play through a Crate Vintage Club 30 (all tube). I was suprised at how quiet the pickups were as far as unwanted noise. You can't ask a humbucking pick-up to give you more. I also have an old Boss HM-1 pedal. It adds some punch to the tone...Overdriven, or clean I have no complaints on this guitar for what I use it for. I also have an ebow and it sounds fair with the pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is super low and feels really good. Playing up and down the neck is as smooth as silk. The guitar is solid. The army green sunburst finish is flawless. I havn't had any hardware problems as of yet. The balance is a little skewed toward the neck but how many guitarists do you know that take their hands off of the guitar when playing..so ignore anybody who tells you that it is a huge problem.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is still relatively new to me so I havn't played the guitar live but I have had a few jam sessions with it and I can't complain. It is one of those guitars you can play and pass around and it maintains tune and and holds up well. The strap buttons are extra large to avoid those clumsy strap slips. I have no reason to not depend on this axe as of yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havn't had to deal with them yet.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for just short of ten years. I have owned several guitars I own a Peavy T-60 and a Fender DG22E elec/acoust. also. If this guitar is stolen or lost I would have to have another. I like the sound and the playablility of this guitar. I don't see what the other reviews were bitching about. Some of them were trashing this axe because it wasn't a Gibson or another brand of guitar. Nobody ever claimed that it was. It is like comparing apples and oranges. If you are only concerned with brands you are missing the point. I chose this guitar over an Ibanez AX220. It just felt better. If you are considering buying this guitar ignore all of these reviews. Don't follow like sheep. Just try one on and if it is your size then get it, if not then get somthing else that does fit you.
