This guitar has everything I was looking for and more. The neck feels really nice, actually, due to the set-neck construction and contoured heel.

Sound : 9
It sounds exactly like Avenged Sevenfold (after all it is a signature guitar). If you've heard Beast and the Harlot, Bat Country, or anything else from City of Evil, you know what I'm talking about.

The rythm tones are very full and have plenty of low end, more so than you would expect from a lead guitar (mahogany body, Invader pickups are responsible for this). Leads are very articulate (notes don't blend into each other unless you really want them to).

All three pickup positions sound similar, but the neck pickup seems to have slightly lower output (weird, because they're the same pickups) so it sounds slightly different than the bridge pickup.

Clean sounds are not the best, but much better than I expected from this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This is no custom shop item... the finish is by no means perfect. It is close enough though. My guitar came with only a few finish flaws (mostly around the edges of the guitar). You can't really tell unless you're actively looking for things like this.

That said my roommate did call it "the sickest thing I've ever seen."

The guitar was made in Korea, but set up in the USA. The action is super low, with no buzzing AT ALL, ANYWHERE! The pickups were perfectly adjusted and everything was screwed in tight. I was really impressed.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Everything is solid. I managed to put a small chip in it the second day I had it though, but I think that was my fault. I'm fairly sure that I could play with no backup, but that's a terrible idea (from experience).

The finish seems a little thin, but using a good guitar polish helps maintain it (I use Gibson pump polish).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
If you're an Avenged Sevenfold fan, 3 words... buy this guitar! (unless you're lefty, then buy the Zacky V. one) However, this guitar is not just for A7X fans! It's actually quite good for playing all sorts of metal and punk (although the look is distinctively Avenged Sevenfold).

I've been playing for 5 years now.. I own a Fernandes Ravelle Elite, a Fender 50's Stratocaster Reissue, and a Jackson DXMG... a Marshall TSL60 and a Line 6 Spider II. This guitar is really perfect for shredding.. the neck construction, heel contour, frets, and 25.5" scale really lend themselves to playing very very fast. Just watch a video of Synyster Gates playing...

Recap: Mahogany and Ebony, USA Seymour Duncan Pickups, Original Floyd Rose bridge... great looking finish.. excellent sound and playability. All for under $1000.

Great guitar from Schecter.
