I won't go into much description, others have done that. This is a beautiful, unique-looking guitar, I always get compliments. Sounds are really quite good. Unusual control setup... separate volume knobs for the pickups, with a single tone knob controlling both, it seems. Pull up on the tone knob and it splits the HB.

The bridge HB is quite good, "duncan designed". The P90 at neck is OK but a little muddy to my ears. But when I heard a couple pals play it, I decided it sounded better than what I thought.

Pretty good tuners. Nice design overall except for bad balance. Would have preferred short scale, this would have helped on the balance (this is a 25.5). Very aggravating, might have to get rid of it because of this... heavy on the neck end... this messes with my playing when standing with a strap. Even a thick Levy strap does not stop it from wanting to slide down. Fixed tune-o-matic type bridge.

Sound : 8
Very good for my style, blues, jazz and vintage rock. The P90 will give a real nice jazz tone, and blues when cranked... and this plus the HB split also gives nice blues... then the HB gives good hard rock tones. Real pretty sounds from this guitar. I think the P90 is a little muddy but the HB is pretty good.
Nice design.
I'm using a new copy of a 5E3 Fender Deluxe (Jim Frenzel)with a twin 10 Celestion bulldog cab, backup is a solid-state Crate. Effects are Hwy 66 OD/Comp pedal (good one), that's it.

Here's where the problems are. Must have been near quitting time when they put this one together. All the wood construction is good, its in the fittings. Bridge was not lined up properly. Had to have new saddle inserts put in to get the high E over the pickup to prevent loss of signal. Bridge curvature is not the same as the neck radius, so to prevent buzzing in the middle strings, you have to get the action a little too high on the outside strings. Knobs come loose. Nut installation a little sloppy. Wood screws hold the back cover on. Will need a new bridge, but I might dump it instead because of the really lousy balance... way heavy to the neck end. Didn't notice in the store, as I played it sitting. Good neck on this thing, and the fretwork is OK.

Reliability/Durability : 6
seems to be made well relative to reliability.

Customer Support : 5
No support. The music store called them about the bridge problem, but I don't think they got much help. They put in the new saddle inserts for free, though.

Overall Rating : 7
Playing off and on for 30 yrs. Play semi-professionally, gig occasionally. Always try a guitar standing with strap, not just sitting, and use your own amp. If it were stolen... well there's always another nice guitar around.... we live in the golden age of guitars, after all. Very pretty guitar, with good sounds and good neck, but lousy fitting out job and bad balance. That's the summary.
I also have an Alvarez Yiari WY-1 acoustic, an old Ibanez electric for a slide guitar, a peavey, and my old Gibson ES-125 wide-body.

What can I say? This is a beautiful guitar. One of the coolest things about it is the pickup configuration. It has a Duncan Designed humbucker at the bridge (for your heavy stuff) and a P-90 at the neck (for the most beautiful clean sound ever).

Sound : 10
This guitar looks so jazzy but plays metal. I play pretty heavy music (Beloved, Thrice, As I Lay Dying) and it sounds amazing. And then it has that beautiful clean sound as well (for those pretty, emo moments).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought it off ebay, brand spankin' new, and the guy had the action set up nicely. The finish is beautiful. It's kind of a transparent golden orange with flame maple. The only thing that I kind of dislike is the position of the pickup selector. It's pretty much identical to where Les Paul's selectors are located, and for a rocker like me it almost gets in the way.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar can withstand live playing. Like a said, I rock out pretty hard so it withstand quite a bit.

Customer Support : No Opinion

The only other electric I have ever owned is a Gibson Les Paul Standard Double Cut which I love very much (c'mon it's a Les Paul) and I have been playing it at least 2-3 days a week for seven years, but I think this TSH-1 is my new love.

2000 TSH-1 model. Trans-Orange with flame maple top. The schecter website's picture doesn't do this guitar justice. It is a very beautiful guitar. I like the pickup configuration... it's got a P90 at the neck and a "Duncan Design" Humbucker at the bridge. Combined with it's semi-hollow body, you can get some very rich tones with this thing. The tuners have a good ratio- not sure what it is, but it holds tune pretty well. It also comes with a nice gig-bag.

Sound : 8
I don't really have a defined music style, but I am very picky about what I want to hear. The sound of this guitar is beautiful. It has a very rich low/midrange, but still has some good high end and does not sound muddy(unless you are using heavy distortion on the P90 pickup). I love how I can get beautiful mellow tones with the P90 (and some sort of bluesy distorted tones), and I can still get some more cut-through distorted tones with the Humbucker when I get pissed off at my girlfriend. Perfect for emotional expression :)

I bought this used, so the person before me may have done some adjusting. I would say it was well configured.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This is a semi-hollow body and is therefore more fragile than a solid-body. Seems pretty solid though. The neck is thicker than my Fend. Standard Strat. I would gig it without backup, but would be careful.

Very good guitar for true artistry. The only thing that really bugs me is that the neck end off-balances the body end. What would you expect from a semi-hollow body guitar though?

Semi hollow body (cool looking F/slash hole)very nice finish(transparent Honey).Trapeeze style bridge. P90 neck pick up, Seymour Duncan humbucker bridge pick up. Stratish style body with bottom horn cut short. Chrome Grover tuners(very smooth).Mahogany body with a maple top.Rosewood fretboard.Classy looking instrument

Sound : 9
The range of sound from this guitar is unbelievable. The bridge humbucker has a great lead sound thats good for all your bright, distorted playing and the P90 nreck pick up has the most brilliant clean sound, very warm but if you want some good ol Black Sabbath type gain just give the P90 some distortion and there it is.The thing I really like about this guitar is the seperate volume for both pick ups, very nice feature. I play experimental rock/jazz/indie/jam kind of music and never has a guitar suited my musical needs as much.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The factory set up of all guitars usually leaves something to be desired so i actually raised the action a little bit to get rid of a little fret buzz. Once I did that the gutiar plays like butter. The Transparent Honey finish I ordered it in is gorgeous. I haven't messed witht he pick up settings yet, I may fool aroung with it a little just to see what difference it makes but i have no complaint about the current sound at all. This guitar says "I'm jazzy looking but I rock too".

Reliability/Durability : 9
I haven't given it the ol Pete Townsend yet but it seems to be constructed really solid.

I have been playing for about 10 years and I have had somehwere around 17 different guitars. This is by far the best guitar I have owned yet. I was looking at Rickenbackers and then I saw this and it was such a good looking guitar and a little bit more modern looking that the Ricks are so I went for it. I also own a Jackson JS-1 and an Epiphone 1969 Coronet remake (which I love very much) but this guitar has just a great sound to it and the semi hollow body just gives it that extra little kick that the Epiphone does not have being it's a solid body.If this guitar was lost or stolen I would most definetly buy another.

This is a year 2000 TSH-1, two humbucking pickup semi-hollow body with a gorgeous flamed maple top in a sort of honey-orange-amber color. It is a relatively small body for a semi-hollowbody, with a small cavity beneath the F-hole. The web site says it comes with a gig bag, but this was not included from musician's friend. The neck has a maple fingerboard, diamond-style inlays on the fretboard. The frets are nicely finished, I would say about medium size frets- the feel is pretty good. It is a very comfortable guitar to sit around and play at home due to relatively light weight (without that lower-end Fender "cheesiness") and smaller size.

Sound : 10
Very jangly, almost rickenbacher sound. I can see where this would not be the choice of someone looking for severe distortion or noise! It has a very nice, pure tone for the most part, bright almost ala old Byrds or Tom Petty. If this is the sound you like, it's a good guitar for the price. I usually play it through a Pignose Hog 20 amp, sans effects.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Nothing from Musician's Friend is ever set up, but the factory set up was acceptable- action was actually a little low and sloppy for my tastes. I raised the bridge and went to a little heavier guage strings. The cosmetic fit and finish were very, very good. Easily as good as my Ovation, actually better than my old Gibson used to be.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar seems to be well made and sturdy, although probably not to the extent that, say, a Les Paul would be. The finish has proven pretty durable within the last year. Strap buttons are solid, neck hasn't moved or needed tweaked.

Customer Support : 3
I made some comments and had some questions on my warranty card and never heard a word from the company. Boo! Although this was not a legitimate warranty claim, I was not impressed that I didn't hear anything from them.

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing off and on for maybe 20 years; I'm a songwriter, not a live performer. At present, I also have an Ovation acoustic-electric and have just sold my old Gibson L-G. Past guitars have included Fender, a Sears strat copy, a Cort florentine acoustic-electric, a vintage Dano silvertone, a Les Paul, and a 50's vintage National lap steel. If this was stolen, I doubt I would replace it with the same model, but only because I think I would rather have a Telecaster- it's not really a reflection on the guitar. For the price, this guitar has a nice jangly sound and good action, although I would recommend buying from a company that does a proper setup. I do feel it is a very attractive guitar, also, but that's always subjective.

Maple neck, semi-hollow mahogany body, grover tuners, flamed maple top, in vintage transparent orange, Duncan designed pickups (P90 neck, and humbucker bridge), more or less the same as a T-1, save for the semi-hollow body. The semi hollow body is _very_ semi-hollow. The cavity is just slightly larger than the F-hole, more for looks than anything I think.

Sound : 7
This was a toughy for me, I saw the it in a catalog, and it looked quite beautiful, the specs seemed OK and the price very resonable. I normaly play a Les Paul style guitar and this seems to try and walk the line between a les and a strat-ish sounds. I found the sound to be somehow non-descript, smooth, not a lot of sustain, but adequate, nice clean sounds. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but it seemed like the sound in general carried a lot of over-tones, almost accoustic like, perhaps due to the small hollow cavity, yet not well suited for typical distorted electric playing. Clean sounds seemed decent and punchy. I played it through my Hughes and Kettner Metal Shredder (but I'm no metal-head), and my Peavey Ultra 60 tube head, with 4x12 celstion bottom. I did not care for the distortion sounds this guitar produces. I think this guitar might be OK for a country sound, or perhaps rockabilly. I heard that these pickups were Seymore Duncan designed after the JB model (bridge) and P90 neck. Somehow I was just not impressed, just not a lot of character to the sound. Still, not bad for the money...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action was OK and fret work seemed fine enough. This guitar, though beautiful in design had several flaws. I immediately noticed a dip in the back of the neck around the 3rd fret, and a slight sharp protrusion so some sort. Also the body or finish was cracked were it meets the neck. The neck and tilt back head-stock are actually two separate pieces of wood cut at an angle and joined to create the tilt. I did not care for this arangement, especially with a natural finish showing the the joint. I think this may be the cause of the problem with the dips I found. The body of the guitar is quite beautiful in flamed maple, gloss finsh, and bindings. But close examination revealed pencil marks around the F-hole under the finish, probably from the stencil used for the cutout. Just inside the F-hole the wood was jagged and splintered from the original cut. The inside of the cavity is painted black, but you can see quite plainly the complete lack of anything other than a rough routing under the paint. Overall, nice looking at first glance, but the construction appears rushed with some corner cutting.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I had the guitar for 3-days and sent it back because of the flaws descibed above and the sound, which did not appeal me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I did not deal with Schecter, but Musician's Friend gave me no hassles with the return.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing non-professionally for many years. I know what sounds I like, and favor a Les Paul type sound, though I own a couple Strat style guitars as well and like them just fine. I'm used to playing low-end guitars and somehow expected more from this one. I think I know a good vs. mediocre guitar when I hear one and I'm not prejeduced by brand names. Actually, for the money, the guitar is a good value. It's inexpensive, looks good, and if you get one without any functional flaws (other than cosmetic) is quite playable and nice sounding for some styles. The problem I had is that I could not find one to play without ordering one first so I took a chance. Luckily I was afforded the opportunity to try it out and still send it back. I'd say this guitar would be good for someone who wanted an alternative to the average Strat sound with out making the jump to a Les Paul or SG style instrument, but in the same vein. Maybe you'll have better luck with other types of distortion, but in my experience I could not find one that "spoke" to me.
