It's a typical western-form guitar, I really love its sunburst colour. It made in Canada, that's the guarantee for these guitars. I think Canada makes the best acoustic guitars all over the world. And this work seems on this guitar too. The only one I don't like its head, but it doesn't matter opposite the sound.

Sound : 10
When I tried it in the shop, I knew that I'll buy this beauty immediately. I've played on many guitars and its sound was the only one that I can love at any time. Bright high, clean medium, perfect bass - these are all appear in this guitar. And it's also good in the dynamic, it doesn't rattle when I play hardly with heavy plucking.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It's a perfect instrument, it made by hand indeed. I can't say any found mistake on it. If you buy this guitar, you feel you play on a REAL, ORIGINAL INSTRUMENT, and you'll take care about it and you'll never lend this guitar to anyone :D

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar become better and better if you use all day. The wood dries when you're playing. It's mean the sound is more original day by day.

Warranty is 1 year, and I got a new soft guitar case in the shop. So I'm satisfied with the crown :)

Overall Rating : 10
At least you have to TRY this guitar before you buy anything. After you do that, and if you're not pleasant, I'm really sorry for you. For this price, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this beauty.

The Seagull Entourage Rustic that I picked up came complete with Godin's EPM Quantum system (active) for electronic output. I intentionally set out looking for an acoustic with electronics so that I could could plug in at the open-mike for a club at my university. Needless to say, the output from the guitar was perfect, and limited only in that the mixer that we are using has seen better days. Last week I had a chance to plug into a professional setup, and from the 3 or 4 guitars that we had, the Seagull was the one most played on.

As stated in others posts, the Top is solid pressure tested cedar, the back and sides are wild cherry wood, neck is Silver leaf maple with Seagull Slim 1.72" nut width, fretboard is rosebood and finish is Rustic Burst Custom Polished Finish.

The Entourage Rustic is aesthetically beautiful, with a darker Body that you can really appreciate. To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the Slim head at first, but as time has passed I've learned to love it. It not only looks different (not in a bad way), but being an engineer, I can appreciate the fact that the string doesn't bend as much to get to the nut. I rarely lose strings even though I'm constantly tuning my G string down to E and back again. My only complaint is that I wouldn't mind larger tuning pegs, as my fingers slip off and it takes a bit more pressure to turn them that of other guitars.

As I went guitar shopping only a few days before christmas, my selection was limited to a few midranged priced guitars, and many an expensive one. I went to 3 different shops in the city and played around 20 or so, with price tags generally from $400 to $900, with some +$1000's in the mix. It took me a while to find this guitar, as I wanted a warm sound with a deep, but not jarring, bass. I do alot of fingerpicking, so action was an important factor as well.

The Takamines had the best action that I could find, but in terms of sound, it took me to the $+800 range before I could find a similar sounding guitar, and even then, I had a tough time distinguishing which one sounded better. As another reviewer stated, it sounds great fingerpicking, with incredible bass sound on the low E, but really comes through when you need to add a bit more emphasis in your strumming. The stings blend beautifully with one another, and has a full, warm sound that I would never part with.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is still as good as I could expect from a $400 instrument. I have played guitars with a bit better action, but they've always sounded a bit twangier, and that's not something that I would want.

As I play my guitar at my desk for the most part, I've let loose a few minor dings while turning in my chair, but with the darker solid cedar top they're barely noticable. The finish today looks as good as it did a year ago when I first picked it up.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The durability of this guitar is solid, but it does need some care to keep it that way. Since I'm in an open-mike guitar club, I get a chance to play at our local campus pub every 2nd week and at other events that we are a part of.

The Entourage holds up well to different people playing it, and since I have terrible strumming technique, I am constantly ratching against the bottom of the sound hole. There is a minor bit of wood showing where I've worn off the finish right at the sound hole, but considering that I used to crank on it with rock-hard picks, it's a wonder the damage isn't more severe. Since I noticed it, I switched to the lightest picks and found that they feel better, eccentuating the guitar's sound, and that damage has stopped.

As well, I took it in to get setup only a few days ago, since I've never done so, and the tech. took one look and told me to save my money. The neck hasn't warped at all, the strings are all at the right height, and instrument still sounds amazing. He said that it looks and feels as if it was still new. The stings hold their tone over lengths of time very well, detunes very little, if at all over time.

NOTE: Since this guitar was made in Quebec with a more humid environment for the trees, the Entourage is prone to warping. Buy yourself a $10 humidifier cover, keep it damp, and you'll find that even in the most hostile, driest environments (where I'm from...), warping will not occur and it will sound better. Quite rugged if taken care of properly.

Havn't had to deal with this yet, hopefully stays that way. I hear the Godin values their customers and stands behind their products, but I have yet to really know.

Overall Rating : 10
I've only been playing acoustic for a year and a half, with 3 years of electric before that. As I quickly became drawn into the acoustic sound, I've played this particular guitar an average of an hour a day or so for the last year since I've had it. I knew exactly what kind of guitar I wanted for the music I was going to play (Nick Drake, Beatles, Folk) and this guitar has yet to disappoint me in any way. I wouldn't think of getting rid of it, and although I'm sure I'll end up buying a more expensive one in time, I'll be coming back to this guitar for a long while.

Not a lot of bells and whistles, but, an extremely beautiful guitar for the price. I have always had solid reviews from my friends in Canada. They all swear by these Godin/La Patrie/Seagull guitars. Mine is a 2006 model(?) straight acoustic, no electronics and has the following features: a solid cedar top, sides and back are laminated wild cherry, neck is silver leaf maple, fingerboards and bridge are, I believe, rosewood. The saddle and nut are tusq. The polished finish is rustic burst...dark-ish and deeply nutty. The pick guard is a dark brown. The headstock is non-standard by most guitars, but standard for this company. It tapers toward the top and then rounds out and it has a siganture graphic of a seagull on it. chrome, non locking tuners and a 1.72 nut width. The case is signature as well, albeit kinda wacky. High density styro with interior plastic. The guitar fit nicely inside and it feels solid. Not your stadard TKL or chipboard or wood...More like a molded SBK. The features all make this guitar even more attractive day in day out!

Ya know, I tried several guitars at the time of purchase. All of Martin/Taylor/Breedlove/Gibson/Parkwood/etc that I tried on are all fine guitars. However, after trying and re-trying each guitar/maker, I came back to this guitar. It was, simply put, the right tone and warmness that I was looking for. Nice bass response, not muddy. Loud enough but not "boomy". Articulate highs and mids. Just well balanced with good intonation across the neck. Honestly, It was between this and a Taylor for me. This guitar offered almost everything that I liked soundwise in the Taylor at a 1/4 of the cost.

The factory set was good for me. The fretwires were all good. No sharpness on the edge of the frets. The wood is beautiful. No flaws in the finish that I could see at the store, nor when I got it home. I have left it on the stand for a few days to see f any of the lustre fades....nada so far. The construction of this guitar looks like it was done with care and affection for the process of actually making a quality instrument. the guitar came with a factory check list attached. Everything on their quality control list was to my satisfaction

Reliability/Durability : 5
As I am not a "profession, gigging" musician, I will discount the durability aspect of this opinion. It seems solid to me. the finish seems well done and that it could withstand playing it night after night.

no need yet,,,friends tell me that they are there for their customers

I am, as they say, a "duffer". I am not a professional musician. I play for enjoyment with friends. So far, the friends are envious of this guitar because it can stand toe to to with their high end "big name" guitars. Along with this newly purchased guitar, I own a Michael Kelly Fretless 5 string Bass, a Fender Jazz, assorted amps, etc...I am more of a bass player than guitarist. I wanted a straight acoustic to fulfill certain sound needs that a bass does not offer. I could not be happier!

So it was November and I was at my local guitar store (Music Pro in Barrie ONT) looking for a Christmas present for me. My interests had lately turned to acoustic guitars. I sat down and probably went through about 15 guitars ranging from $200.00 to $1,200.00. The Seagull Entourage was one of the last low end (price wise) Guitars I tested. In all honesty I was up around $900.00 to $1,000.00 before I could find anything that I considered better than my $279.00 Canadian dollars Entourage. The Entourage is made in Quebec Canada not offshore.
Here is what it offers. The top is Solid Cedar, Sides and back are laminated Wild Cherry Wood, Neck is Silver Leaf Maple, Finger Boards and bridge Rosewood, and Saddle is Tusq, (Man made ivory. The supposed advantage is that the density is consistent throughout offering a balanced tone.) Rustic Burst Custom Polished Finish. The pick guard is a dark brown. I felt like Gene Autry when I picked it up because it looked so western. Honestly I love the finish. The headstock is non-standard. It tapers toward the top and then rounds out. Has a great graphic of a seagull on it. Chrome tuners and a 1.72 nut width. Oh and one more thing. Included in the price was a killer soft case. The sides have extra support in them so that it almost makes it like a solid case. And of course it has the Seagull logo on it. Over all it is an excellent case.

I loved the tone. I wanted a twang, which I got. Most guitars I played during my November test phase seemed to be really mushy on the bass side, maybe the strings I am not sure but The Seagull was perfect for me. It has a rich bass but not over powering. Projects very well. I really like to attack it sometimes. That???s when it seems to really power out teh tones. I recently put Martin 80/20 bronze light 012 to 054 on it. Did it make a difference? Not sure. I have gone through a tremendous learning curve with this guitar as I have changed from electric to acoustic delta blues so I think I will experiment with other strings as well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It took a while for me to get used to the action. Not because it was that much different, but more because I had played electric guitar for 40 years. The transition took a while. I even went back to my music store and asked them to lower the action and maybe lighten the string gage. Inwardly I think they looked at me like I was a little crazy but outwardly they smiled and said, ???No just try it for a while longer and see what you think.??? So I did and am I glad I did. I was not only changing from electric to acoustic but I was also changing to a delta blues style of play. That made a difference as well. As I became more comfortable with the thumb and fingerpicking style verses a single pick, the Seagull began to really shine. So I guess the long and the short of it is the action is excellent.
The setup was great. The frets were nicely finished. No filing to do on the ends to remove any burs. That had been done at the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Well hard to say so far as I have only had it 4 or 5 months, but one thing I will say is that it hardly if ever goes out of tune. The pitch is always dead on. Look when I bought this guitar, I fell in love with it. So I waited before I did a review. Most likely I would have had more things I didn???t like about it then but that was more me than the guitar. Now this guitar is something really special. I really have a lot of trouble finding anything negative about it.

Ok so lets me start by saying the Seagull Guitar falls under the Godin umbrella. I would advise you to check out all their guitars http://www.godinguitars.com. So I have asked them some of the dumbest things and questioned their spec sheets and so on. Now I am never nasty, just inquisitive. In almost every instance, I have had a response in less than 24 hours and in some cases 24 minutes. Their web page is excellent as it offers advice on different items ,like structure, wood, and setups.

I have been playing guitar for about 40 years, mostly electric. I have cut back a lot on my equipment,, I now own a Jay Turser 133, A low end resonator and a Montana travel guitar along with a few amps. If I ever lost this guitar, I would be beside myself. Would I replace it? Yes absolutely, but I would like to look at a full line of Godin acoustic guitars. They really have a wide range. Would I ever buy another guitar???absolutely, but I???ll never get rid of this baby. This guitar was every bit worth the approx $300.00 CAN (Incl tax) I paid for it. The sunburst color is so warm. I need that here in Ontario when the winters are dipping down to ???20 C.
Last thing is I love the guitar but I also Like the way the company has responded to me.

Once again Thanks Harmony Central for offering a great web site.
In regards to the CD question, I would still have only 8 cds because I just borrowed the other ones. However if I didn't give them back, I would probably have to get a new CD travel case.
