Sekova F1010: I don't know what year it was made...I bought it used in 1974 and have been playing it since. It is an acoustic with a 20 fret neck and great sound. I have a Gibson, Fenders, a Martin, etc., that are great, but this was my first "decent" acoustic guitar and I love it's sound. It has been well traveled over the past 30+ years, not always in the best of conditions, and is still in very good condition with a rich tone. My son and daughter are beginning to learn guitar (but on Fender electrics and a small Martin acoustic)and I hope they will catch the lifelong playing fever also.

Sound : 9
Love the sound and ability to hold the tuning..Has a rich full sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Excellent finish when I bought it used 30+ years ago, still in very good condition overall (minor nicks, etc). I did modify the slots in the nut ~25 years ago (to lower the strings a bit) and it has been playing ever since.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Play it live at church, 30+ year old hardware, finish, strap button (one at base of guitar) still holding up very well. Been through many sets of strings, nothing else.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not dealt with Sekova, the reason for entering a review here is a Google search to find out something about the history of this guitar.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing guitar for ~40 years (self taught), keyboards for 43years, clarinet and mandolin for ~3 years. Plan on getting an electric bass guitar and banjo within the next year. I love the Sekova and would like to find out more about it. The Sekova and a small Goya (made for C.F.Martin Co.) are the two acoustics that are always kept out and ready to play

I bought this sekova flat top at the loacal goodwill store for 15 dollars. No case and the adjustable bridgesaddle was missing and it had been treated rough. I thought it would be good for parts.I'd been playing since the 1940's but just started into repairing stringed instruments since retiring 12/1/1999.I do it as a hobby and really enjoy it. This Sekova upon looking it over was very fascinating so I decided I would fix it up. I made a cast aluminum insert to fit the saddle slot put a "V" grove across the top of it and used a brass 1/8" rod in it and put martin light strings on it. I'm thrilled with the out come for it has a sound you wouldn't believe. It has become one of my favorites I keep it hung on the side of my seven foot book case by the side of my desk so I can grab it and play it at a moment's urge. I work on instruments for others as a hobby with no charge only the cost of parts. Today is the last day at this e-mail address so I wanted to send this before I sign off. Would love to know more about this guitar. I have other guitars such as Dorado, Yamaha, Terado, Kay, Washburn,Epiphone, Grunewald, Stella, Harmony, but my Sekova is special and the Headstock looks like a gibson copy. Back, Sides and Neck look like Mahoganey and the top looks like natural spruce. The action is great and the sound is comparable to a much more exspensive instrument.
Best regards, David Correll an old five and dimer from Logansport, IN
