This is a 1984 Sigma DM3, made in Korea. Solid spruce top, laminated mahogany sides and back in a Martin-type dreadnaught design. I picked it up at a garage sale for $60 and thought I can't go wrong at that price. It was pretty dirty and had very old strings, but the neck was great and everything seemed to be in working order. Once I got it home, cleaned up and new strings on it, I was very pleasantly surprised!

This guitar has apparently aged very well -- it sounds great! Not nearly as loud as my Gibson SJ-100, but special in its own way. The sound is more compressed than the Gibson, but has a very balanced, mellow sound. I've had a couple of modern Martin DMs, and this Sigma DM3 beats either one.

This is a bargain instrument, no frills and pretty basic. Not great hardware (tuners), but they do the job. It stays in tune and the intonation is great... amazing really considering the apparent hard life this guitar had.

I'm using this for songwriting and recording... not really for gigs, but it could be a backup I suppose. It would definitely do the job.

This guitar is a great value, especially at the garage sale price. I've been playing 29 years, and have owned two Gibsons (SJ-200, SJ-100), two Martin DMs, a Conn 12 string, lots of electrics, a couple of mandolins, several basses, a baritone guitar. This guitar actually will keep its place in my collection... nice sweet sound, easy player, and I don't worry about banging it around a little around a campfire. I wouldn't pay a lot for one of these, but for what it's worth it's a nice player.

This was my first guitar back in 1979. I still have it, as well as many others...but this one has sentimental to me value.

I have cared for it well and have always kepted it in a case when not in use. It has no frills... but wow! It has mellowed into a really sweet sounding guitar!

It is rather plain with no fancy inlays. The finish has maintained well through the last 30 years. Nice action.

I have had no problems at all. I recently took it in to have the action checked and just an overall check-up. I was told it didn't need any work or set up.

I have had this guitar for 30 years as well as the 12 string model for 28 years. I also own an Ovation & 2-Ibanez. I'll take these over the others any day. They truly age well. If the house were on fire... they would make it before all other possessions.

I am a dummer by training, not a guitarist. Use this for relaxation and just fooling around... I don't know a lot about actions. Has always been fine for my needs.

Has a cracked bridge, been that way for years. doesn't seem to effect its playability. Other than that, it is extremely durable, I've had it since new (1980)and it is in perfect condition other than the bridge which, in reading reviews of other Sigma guitars, seems to be their most persistent fault.

Never dealt with them. One of these days I'll get the cracked bridge fixed, but that should be a fairly simple fix.

I'm a drummer... I bought this just to learn and fool around with. It has been great for that. I paid $100 for it new... can't go wrong for that, sounds better than a lot of much more expensive guitars friends of mine have.
