I bought this guitar for my wife in 1991. It is a dreadnought style acoustic, basically modeled after a Martine D-28. It has a laminated spruce top and mahogany back and sides. No pick ups or fancy adornments...just your basic Martin style dreadnought

Sound : 8
The sound of this guitar is decent. This guitar is well suited for bluegrass, or the typical folk sing a long songs that require mostly strumming. It has a bright crisp clear sound and each string rings out nicely when the guitar is played. However, it does lack warmth and depth and the tone is kind of "boxy."
My wife will use it at our church when she is leading worship, and it suits that purpose well. By itself, I don't think that the guitar is suited for the studio or live playing. However, with a decent pick up system and the right pedals, this guitar is capable of a pretty admirable sound (sorry all of you acoustic purists...I have no problem with using equipment to doctor up the sound).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar is a good looking guitar with the standard Martin appearance. The action is very good. The fingboard is flat and the neck is thin. Consequently, this is a very comfortable guitar to play

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has been very reliable. No complaints here.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing over 30 years. This guitar is well suited for bluegrass or folk music. If it were lost or stolen I'd be pretty indifferent about buying the exact same model. My favorite feature is the comfortable feel of the neck and the relatively decent crisp and clear tone. I would recomment this guitar to anyone who needs a decent medium level quality work horse. For the money this guitar does a pretty decent job on delivering the goods.

made early 90s i believe. Stamped "made in Korea" is that north or south>? are they building nukes AND guitars? Solid or Laminate>? how do you tell?> dreadnought full size no cutaway .. neck seems pretty thin to me.. .

Sound : 10
suits my style fine.. ranges from rock to christian. amps and effects??? just both a cheapo markley pickup and plugged in into chruch pa ... sounds good! I've heard lots of guitars played, and this one sounds as good or better then all of them.. I'm not comparing it to the REALLY expensve ones though. The thing just sounds NICE... full sounds and loud too.. can be made to sound mellow as well. still gets my wife aroused when i play... and that doesn't happen as much after 12+ years of marraige.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was a little high compared to my electric, but a breeze compared to cheapo acoustics i've owned in the past. all the hardward was as still is fine

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm assuming it will pass it's first live test in church, unless i get pelted with Bibles?! The usual only one strap button (why don't they put on the second, or why doesn't anyone use the string under strings method)? I'll be giggin w/out a backup!

playing off and on for 30 years... never seriously though. other gear is a gibson firebrand .. if stolen, i'd probaly go with an elec acoustic... Love the sound of it, and it used to smell good too!
I can't find a dr-4h anywhere on the net.. it's stamped on one of the wooded braces, and there is no paper glued in there like on other guitars.. it also looks like the "H" may not even be an "H" as it's misstamped.. i was hoping it was supposed to be a "1"!! how can i find out?? the sound of this guitar keeps me draggin it out and trying to learn how to play better, cause it just sounds swwwweeeeeeeeeeet!.... . . . ask my wife!!haha
