I think this is an 89 Signature Odyssey. It has 22 jumbo frets and a carved top. Push/pull volume and tone with 3 toggle switches. Two Seymour Duncan single coils and a Trembucker at the bridge.

Strat style body should be Ash but not positive. Nice thin maple neck with sweet ebony fingerboard (similar to an LP but a touch flatter/wider. Finish is Gun Metal Black.
Shaller/Floyd and tuners and straplocks.
Custom Everest case is exceptional with super snug fit complete with that "who's dog pissed in here smell" I have come to know and love.

Sound : 9
Playing for about 20 yrs. Have worked in music store and owned my fair share of nice guitars. This is a solid piece with unmistakable quality the minute you play it. Very nice.
I have a Tremoverb and a couple of GKs and together they sounds better than I ever will.

The gamet for tones, trembucker will give rock to metal sound and split coil will yield that strat bridge tone. Single coils are quiet and less harsh than a stock strat, blues, jazz, country.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it used and gave it a once over as soon as I got this treasure home. I got the ting in the "retro era" three years ago when they supposedly couldn't give it away. Unlearned Fools!(ala Homer)
I got it for less than the case went for in the 80's.

Everything was as it should have been after the tune-up and has not moved since other than the Canajun summer/winter minor truss rod adjustment.

The quality is superb from top to bottom in good old Canadian Fashion.
Not a single iffy piece of hardware other than the sealed input jack. (How could they have known, they weren't in business long enough and in the day these were the in thing.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Only issue I have it those shitty sealed input jacks that short out all the time. I have replaced almost every one I have encountered (in the 100s)They suck!

If it were stolen, tears would be shed as this one nice guitar that I bought for a pittance. The trendy shop who's name I won't mention (Song Bird, woops, not a single person lacking ego in the place). obviously didn't spot this gem without the requisite brand name. Thank god!

odyssey super strat style made in canada. 2 piece highly resonant body i believe poplar and the top is carved similar to a godin artisian. 1 piece beefy maple neck that is still straight, schaller floyd, medium frets with very dark and tight grained rosewood board. sd pups. 25 1/2" scale neck.

Sound : 6
this super strat has the mojo of an old san dimas charvel, absolutely a very resonant body for it being a 2-piece. the thick neck slams out the notes and detail that i find gets lost with lesser quality and thin necks. the 2 stached single coil duncans can really do great clean sounds but thats it. the trembucker had waaaay too much output, about double of the singles and is only capable of metalhead tone, no dynamics here. i've had this guitar for awile and am tired of the sounds and am currently swapping pups. if the guitar was a pos i woul'nt bother but the body and neck is great quality and unique.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
this guitar is around 15 years old and the neck is still straight. very high attention to detail can be seen throughout guitar, even the pots and 3 miniswitches still work fine. alot of custom touches from factory like contoured body, carved top, shaved bolt on neck area for comfortable access to upper frets. the neck is also very different due to it being thicker like a les paul classic instead of the tone-deaf paper thin metalhead style necks. this guitar is literally a factory custom model and i consider it a high-end super strat with hand-made high quality fit and finish. this is the best bolt-on superstrat i've had and will be keeping this one. just a basic setup and fret dress and it's good to go.

Reliability/Durability : 10
this is a well used 15 year old signature, frets wear and finishes age. no structural problems with neck and no cracking around the bolt on neck so high quality and well dried woods were used for it's construction. this guitar is a road warrior. even came stock with schaller straplocks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
from what i've heard the signature guitar co was only alive in the late 80's for 3 years. dead men don't offer or honor a warranty. with a bolt-on neck this guitar will be around a long time.

Overall Rating : 9
of 3 decades of playing this is my fav bolt on neck superstrat and everyone does not have one of these. if stolen i would find my guitar and shove that pointy headstock through the thiefs stomach and watch him bleed to death as i smiled and played their last request. the only thing i don't like is the overkill bridge pup, easy to change though. i wanted a high quality bolt-on superstrat but lacked $2000 to buy a evh charvel or comparable custom-shop strat. i've been through a few dozen decent strats and this was is one of the best reasonably priced ones.

Signatures were built from 1987-1990 so the first review in this thread is NOT for a Signature guitar.

Anyway, my Odysseys have 22 frets. I'm so stupid with guitars that I don't really know what a lot of these questions mean. The guitar has 2 knobs and 3 switches....whatever they do. I leave the knobs all the way up and the switches in the same position all the time. The pick-ups have some type of strange "S" on them (the single coils at least) so I don't even knows what kind they are.
I don't know what kind of wood they used....nor do I realy care. One is a bolt-on and the other is a neck-through. I thought that was strange because they are both Odyssey models.
It has a Floyd Rose (I think) and Schaller tuners. The neck is pretty thin compared to my BC Rich's. The factory cases are really cool, too.

Sound : 8
Alex Lifeson used Signature guitars on Hold Your Fire and Presto. So you know they can sound very airy like that. I also use them for some pretty aggressive heavy metal type stuff, and they sound really good for that too. I imagine they would sound good in many situations....very versatile.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have no idea what they were like from the factory since mine were both over 10 years old when I got them. These things are high quality instruments, though! They are solid, and they sound and play great.

Reliability/Durability : 10
These are very well-built. Like I said earlier, mine were at least 10 years old when I got them....and had been through god knows what, but they are still in excellent shape and really are fantastic instruments.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Factory is closed! No warranty expressed or implied! =)

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing 4-5 years. My only other guitars are BC Rich's for heavy metal style music.
I really like these guitars because I'm a huge fan of that era of Rush music. Plus, they are extremely rare and super-high quality. The only thing I wish I had was more of them!

Never done anything like this before, but felt that Odessey electric guitars were nearly forgotten. 1978 Odessey, hand made in Vancouver. 24 frets ( frets are soft, nickel-silver mix), ebony fretboard with abalone inlay. Through neck. brass bridge, controls, ect. gold platted machine heads ( machine heads made in germany- can't remember the brand ). Resembles an old P.R.S. Smooth edges, some find it awkward to play, takes some getting used to. Has four nobs (2 volume, 2 tone) and four switches (control pickups)- all brass. the switches and knobs aren't marked and can be confusing until you get to know the guitar. Body is ash with two maple strips running down the lengh. My guitar is a tobacco sunburst.

Sound : 10
This guitar has an amazing sound!!!!! It has a huge variety!!! I play everything from blues to heavy metal to soft guitar based music. This guitar's sound varies depending on the type of amp that you use, but I have yet to find an amp with which it does not sound good. the sound of this guitar is so versatile that (depending on the way you have your pick-ups set up) you can have a deep, rich, bassy sound one minute and a Bright sound the next!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action on this guitar is low- that's the way that I like it. The pickups are easily adjustable, and the finish and hard way still look amazing when it is shinned up. A problem is that the action can not easily be changed. (once it is lowered, making it higher might not be easy, if at all possible) i'm not one to ask if you would like to know about finishing flaws because I am the second owner, and the original owner gave it a few knicks and scrapes. He also played it A LOT there is visible waer on the guitar from being used so much.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The previos owner of this guitar played in bars using this guitar for about 22 years, and put it through a lot. the hardware seems like it is ready to last another long time, the strap buttons are solid, and the fifish semms rather thick in most places and does not easily chip or wear off. I have only owned this guitar for less than a year, but have played 5 or 6 small gigs using it- with no backup. I know another person who owns an odessey ( it is a base, though, and they have been playing it to gigs for 17 years with no backup)

Customer Support : No Opinion
The company no longer exists- the owner of the company was killed in his factory in the early '90's.

Overall Rating : 10
I haven't been playing for very long, and i own 4 guitars- 1 acoustic, one classical and 2 electric. The odessey is my main guitar, I preffer it over my squire super-sonic (my first guitar) and find that it easily outpreforms telecasters and newer stratocasters.9 American ones too!) The odessey is a wounderful guitar and if this one ever disappeared' i'd cry then see if I could find another. I wasn't really planning to buy another guitar when I bought this one, but I was so amazed by it that I HAD to buy it.
