This guitar was most likely made in the 1960's, not sure when. I haven't - yet -found a serial number on this to verify info. This two p/u guitar has a tone control for each volume control. I've heard that the pickups on this guitar were made by Gibson or Epiphone, but it would also make sense they were made by Dearmond. This guitar has a Bigsby, which works well, though the actual bar of the trem seems a bit short for the design of the guitar.

Man, this guitar has a great sound. Some call it the poor man's Gretsch, I'd say, why compare it at all. This guitar has a great blues and rockabilly sound and rings like a bell when you want it to. Very full sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
This guitar is probably around 40 years old so it's got some wear on it but nothing on it feels unstable

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar's body is solid as a rock. I'd definitely play this guitar without a backup, but why be stupid, right? The one weakspot on this guitar is the input jack, which is surrounded by cracks. These guitars are Harmony-made and they are known to break in this one spot. I'm thinking of having a metal plate put over this jack so it's more stable.

What a great guitar! I've been playing about 20 years and have probably had 20 or so instruments go through my hands at one time or another and this one has a really great sound and also feels fun to play. I don't remember who it was, but I was once told by a pretty informed source that Harmony Rockets and Meteors were some of the best value instruments out there, along with Danelectro U2s. That's a big part of why I bought this guitar - it's basically an upscale Harmony Rocket/Meteor. The pickups on this are very high output and give a great sound. If you want something chicken-shacky, this is the one for you, I say. If this were lost or stolen I'd work to get another one.

I have a 1964 Silvertone made by Harmony for Sear's and Roebuck Co. Its an Archtop electric with killer looking "F" holes and an even better vintage black finish. It has Gibson P13 pickups and a Bigsby Tremolo bar. Theres a tone and volume for each of the two pickups and a three-way selector switch. Its a single cutaway.

Whats great about the sound is that the highs our outstanding. I play through an older Marshal amp with just the amp's reverb for effects. The vintage sound that comes out makes me feel like im playing with the Kinks.
Athough the guitar is somwhat older, The wireing is in great condition but still gives that very meek vintage electrical buzz you hear on some old recordings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar had some major fret wear. Nothing that needed to be fixed or reset ... It simply gave it aoutstanding character. Whoever owned this guitar mainly played in the first position so most of the major chords can be seen worn into the fretboard

Reliability/Durability : 9
The Durability is another story. These guitars are great but remember, they were mass produced by Harmony for other companies to put their names on them (i.e. Silvertone & Airline)so they are rather fragle. The body is amazingly solid but the neck needs to be babyed so it remains in the great condition it is in.

If you have $400 bucks and want a nice vintage guitar, go with the H64, Its not hugh-bodied but works great for Jazz, blues, or whatever the hell you want to throw at it.
